I have an '83 which I race in the desert in the "normal" class, not vintage, and I usually finish mid-pack with it. It is bone stock, except for I currently have '92 forks on it. It certainly is a conversation piece at the races!
Ron Lachein won the Anaheim 1 Supercross on a box stock 84 YZ 250. His dad bought it from the dealership and made miner mods to it and Ronnie kicked the factory riders asses on it. That's really saying something about Yamahas.
