Thanks for the vid, DR. Took me a day, compared to your 18 minutes, but my original 84 has some new knees! A large chunk was consumed trying to engineer a tool to get inside the star. I used a threaded brass hose adapter pounded into a socket. Worked like a charm. I plan on checking out more of your vids.
Excellent vid mate, I'm going to tackle the forks on my IT250H soon & your vid will make it so much easier. Your step by step method with explanations as you go is just what I needed & tips on replacing washers & O-rings too. I'm going to sub & check out your other vids, greetings from Oz 👍
When I worked at the yamaha shop, if we didnt have the right size nut to hold the inner rod, We would shove a broom handle in there and use a impact to break the bottom bolt loose. It usually worked.
That tool you made is essential to hold the dampening rod, well done. I put YZ 250 suspension on mine it was shocking how quick it was with better legs
@@DigitalRider3 years later sorry, yes I used a YZ250 shock as well the only difference was I had to widen the linkage where the shock attaches as it’s wider.
Keep pushing these videos out man, you have great quality content it sucks the numbers aren't there yet you should easy been above 10k let alone 1k. Don't give up and these videos at a minimum help a lot of people out. Have a good one!
That tool you made with the 20mm nut… is that nut an M20 that measures 30mm across the O.D., or a nut with a 20mm O.D.? Thanks for the vid. Super helpful!
Love the video!! Just a quick question though. I know you made your own tool but I was also wondering if there's an actual tool and what would it be called?

Nice! I've poked around read about people doing that. Just forks, or did you find a way to do the shock as well?
Are the yz250 forks similar internally? Just bought a 1986 one.

@@hitechlowlife4288I swapped the whole triple tree as the 250 forks are bigger in diameter
Thanks for the video. Just got an 86 it200 started. Going to do a teardown and total rebuild to it.

I had the same problem with the bolt spinning I used a socket with paper towels in it to take up the space so the nut will stick out
impact gun best and easy

Awesome bikes, I had an 86’(last year made) and yet have to find a more comfortable bike, plenty quick and bulletproof reliable
