The Power to weight ratio of MIG 29 is 1.09:1 to 1.15:1 Which means it produces more Thrust than it's Weight (That's impressive), and that too has increased after the UPG upgrades
Interesting that the UPGs were the ones that took off on reheat while the older ones didn’t

What a difference between the UPG and the old version!! RWR and jammers are visible!! This upgrade has really given Mig 29s a fresh lease of life!!

Range increased due to over the body fuel tank,air to air refueler,air to ground precision munation,IRST system..etc
UPG variant gets new RD-33 series 3 engine with better thrust and service life. As you can see upgraded one give cleaner smoke whereas non upgraded ones leaves a trail of black smoke. UPG variant also got inflight refueling system and conformal fuel tank (Hump in the back behind cockpit) which increases its ferry range extra 500KM. Some other upgrades include D-29 EW suite, ELT 568 Jamming system, Zhuk M pulse doppler electronically scanned array radar, OLS-UEM IRST, HOTAS, semi glass cockpit, HMD and Safran Sigma N 95 Navigation system.

I see these mig 29 daily at Leh Airforce Base of Northern Command, they look like Su 30mki, and they sound so beautiful, they always use afterburners to exit the valley ❤
And sometimes do an overshoot at subsonic speeds ❤
The Power to weight ratio of MIG 29 is 1.09:1 to 1.15:1 Which means it produces more Thrust than it's Weight (Which is impressive), and that too has increased after the UPG upgrades, These factors gives Medium weight fighter jets like IAF MIG 29 UPG and Rafale an advantage in High altitude regions and an edge over heavy weight Chinese fighters which don't perform very well in High altitude regions (less air density) and that's why the IAF recently has started to call them the "Dragon Slayers"

Superb video. Could see a mix of Upgraded and old MiG-29s. Though the UPG are superior in technology and capability, the older versions look beautiful.

@@warrior_singh111 with the spine tanks are UPG, as u can see new composite flaps. one without the spine fuel tanks might be old ones as they dont have the composite materials flaps.

Best looking IAF bird
It looks trash compared to Rafale. Engines emit smoke like a coal powered boiler, structure looks so fatigued. Older Mirage 2000's are in much batter shape than Mig29.

this is the smt version, best one i think, its most economic, making a mig29a, into an smt, with 4th gen radar and extra fuel capacity.. making it possible to do sorties up to 700km radius..

Also in upgrades those engines have been replaced by new more powerful and neat engines

Some are still old version of mig. I don't think every mig 29 is upgraded to upg version.. first one was upg not others.

Hump ones are UPG variants basically upgraded new aircrafts.The ones without hump are non upgraded variants.
The black smoke remains .... weren't all upgraded for better engine efficiency ?

These all fighters jets have become old we need new indian made jets to replace them all hope our government makes them quickly our airforce fleet majority comprises of old fighter jets

Although its was a beautifully catured video, but ailing condition of some of these beautiful war birds is really a very serious issue, they look too old and unsafe to operate. Thanks to our pilots who have the guts to fly them. Govt. should look into such issues for the sake of National Safety. 🙏🏼
