As a 52 year old, post menopausal woman, I love looking muscular. It's also great to see weight training becoming more popular among women here on youtube. However... being 'bulky' is a very subjective term. I tend to look bulky because I have a higher bodyfat percentage, being lean has never really worked for me. And unfortunately, I still know enough people who would find you way too bulky.
I’m a 45 year old perimenopausal woman and have found weight training to help many of my clients through this stage of life - has actually helped them to reduce body fat levels so they feel more sculpted. You’re right though bulky can be a subjective descriptive word and is used here as it’s a common word women associate with doing weights and it’s actually high body fat and lack of muscle tone that contributes more to looking and feeling bulky. A good body fat range to aim for is 20-25% not just for aesthetics yet more for health and Iongevity. Appreciate your feedback 🙌🏻
I will try to answer this yet it is very subjective to the individual - essentially you need to be lifting enough weight that challenges your muscle to failure so you adapt and overload to 'build' muscle. It depends on your goals - is it strength, shape or definition? Happy to have a direct chat on this, simply drop me a DM on Instgram and I can help you further. Thanks
You look amazing but I'm sick of this notion that everybody needs to lift weights. I don't enjoy it and I would rather do other forms of activity. I also don't want big defined muscles, I am only 5"1, I just want to be slim and healthy.
Hey thank you for your feedback, in this video I am advocating benefits of resistance training for women, the easiest way is to lift weights for this yet do understand that it is challenging and not everyone likes to solely lift weights. What type of training are you doing? For overall health, a fitness program needs to pay attention to cardio fitness endurance, muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility and body composition.
@@BiKEnBiTES there are many things that impact a women’s natural hormone levels and these do fluctuate throughout her cycle - there are huge benefits you women and weight training - I have another video coming on this shortly so stay tuned

@@_thenakedwarrior I started lifting at 44 (hit menopause at 48), and just the confidence that you get alone is more than worth it!
