    You seem to have forgotten the Valeyard. The Master said the Doctor would regenerate into the Valeyard "somewhere between the 12th and final incarnations." I think that's AWESOME and quite unintended foreshadowing! (The Trial of a Time Lord, Sixth Doctor.)

    • @TheHufflepuffSaint
      @TheHufflepuffSaint 3 роки тому +5

      The Time Lord Victorious could be considered the Valeyard if the Doctor continued on that path, as it happened at the time the Master said. I also have a theory, that the Jo Martin Doctor is a dark version of the Doctor and is the Timeless Child - not the actual Doctor. She is also the Valeyard and the Dream Lord, and is maybe working with the Master to defeat the Doctor like back in the Sixth Doctor’s last series: The Trial of a Time Lord (more specifically The Ultimate Foe part one and Two).

    • @billthewhovian
      @billthewhovian 3 роки тому +4

      Sorry to be "that guy" but, no he didn't say anything about the Doctor regenerating into the Valeyard he said the Valeyard is an amalgamation of the darker side of the the Doctors nature meaning the Doctor won't become the Valeyard he (the Valeyard) will be made from the Doctors very thoughts he will not be a incarnation of the Doctor and nor will anyone become him and that includes the Meta- Crises Doctor! Again sorry to be "that guy"
      Oh and yes I think that he should come back too!

      Yes please. The Trickster was awesome. I'd still love to see him go up against the Doctor and The Tardis again. I mean after Sarah Jane's "Wedding"; there's many opportunities to experiment with The Trickster's abilities even more like restricting The Tardis from landing, bouncing her away...
      Or maybe even what if The Trickster could breach The Tardis herself... oh, the opportunities... not to mention the opportunities that could be had removing the Doctor from time and space indefinitely throwing the whole universe into chaos.

    Outside any of those my favourite pick would be Sutekh, or more accurately the Osirans - we’ve seen aliens mask themselves as Earth Gods before with the Mire as Norse Gods and the Immortals in the books posing as the Greek Gods, but the idea of aliens as Egyptian gods sounds fun (another science fiction show not withstanding). We know that Sutekh was part of a whole group of his family race and was imprisioned for his past crimes against them, but whose to say he was the only one to be so evil? Ancient Egypt is a historic period relatively untapped for the show and spans thousands of years, so an episode that could be a prequel to Pyramids Of Mars could be entertaining. And notice I mentioned Mars - could the Ice Warriors or the Flood have had contact with the Osirans as well? There’s lots of interesting story beats to use whether Sutekh shows up or not, but let’s be honest, we just want to hear Gabriel Woolf’s soft silky evil tones again as the Destroyer one last time.

    The Rani is a must... as are The Trickster, the Draconians, the Pyroviles, the Dæmons, the Krynoid, and all the humans that just slipped away (Daniel Barton, Mark Grantham [SJA], Adam Mitchell [ex-companion], etc.), all with potential grudges against the Doctor.

    As I recall the Dreamlord was a mental manifestation as opposed to something physical. So how about bringing the Dreamlord and the Valeyard together?
    Either a story with each of them being used to attack the Doctor's confidence and self belief whilst exploring their darker tendencies at the same time, or melding them into a single entity- I believe making a villain not unlike Zagreus from one of Paul McGann's Doctor's earlier stories.

    IIRC, Rassilon (and probably some others with him) was exiled from Gallifrey by the 12th Doctor -- which means he wasn't there when the Master destroyed Gallifrey. Would it be possible for Rassilon to seek out Omega and try to resurrect Gallifrey? Giving the Doctor a serious dillema on whether to to cooperate with them or try to stop them...

    • @TheHufflepuffSaint

      I think it was just Rassilon who was exiled, he seemed to be the only one who wanted The Doctor dead. (Would've been nice if we could've focused more on The Doctor's Gallifrey Plot rather than just going straight to Clara.) That way we might've found out where Rassilon might've ended up.

Heck looking at the story elements the evidence does show Meglos was to be the villain, the fractured time loop mimicking the chronic hysteresis, the TARDIS upstairs would've easily at face value given us development for Meglos giving him somewhat of a "Doctor Complex" as he masqueraded as the titular man in his box, and the fact the person upstairs was shapeshifting... a classic trait of the Zolfa-Thurans.

I never had a problem with the story, which was one of the first published by Target when they began publishing each new series. I suppose the biggest issue is one I will happily admit they couldn't have done any better, which was make the Zarbi and Menoptera convincing. The less said about the 'optera the better. Between the highly stylized accents, the shoddy costumes, and the over reliance of lens flare (or did they simply cover the lens with vaseline?) to try and make the surface look more "mysterious" I cannot help but think they someone, somewhere, should have realized they simply could not do the story justice at the time. Oh, and let's not even go into the jackets that were supposed to help you breathe. :D

    I disagree about the Vashta Nerada for two reasons.
    First, they've made a repeat appearance in one of the Doctor Who games. Second, the Doctor mentioned that they're not normally hostile and are almost never seen in such large concentrations and are never that aggressive. It would take a really excessive plot contrivance to get them back in any kind of story where they're a serious threat.
    Don't get me wrong, I love the Vashta Nerada. They're my second favorite 'monster' from Doctor Who, second only to the Reapers from the Series One episode "Father's Day". I just don't want to see them ruined like the Weeping Angels have been.

And they'd be a cinch with modern CG.

    He mentioned the Sea Devils, and I had to check the age of the video. 😆
    The Vashta Nerada would be easier than the Flood; the VN are already a part of the ecosystem, and only become a problem in large numbers (which could work well with the abandoned circus: perhaps the circus was abandoned when the VN, supported by the large amount of food available, became too numerous to remain subtle and unnoticed.) If the Flood reached Earth, our watery planet gets fuuuuuuu$&ed.
