The great choice of fragrance, value for money, and the quality of the product is second to none. I lather the brush and it does 4 passes with no additional lathering. I can spend an hour taking my time and savouring the experience and my face feels amazing. If you are looking for a cream that does not cost a fortune, start with TOBS and see for yourself.

Since then I have tried hundreds of creams , brushes , razors...And I can honestly say that TOBS have creates some of the best shaving creams out there. The latest Royal Forest is simply superb and I need to get the Oud.The Tobacco Leaf is very similar to their Cedarwood.Another superb brand is Castle Forbes. Ash, Thanks for doing this video. I tried the Trumper Eucris colone after learning about it on your channel and it has turned out to be my favorite winter fragrance. I am anxiously looking forward to giving the shaving cream a try. Cheers.
Curious how the Oud and Royal Forest scents are, as well! Have tried all of their old product line, my long time favorite is Eton College...even caved and purchased the aftershave and cologne. No regrets.
Very smart the way you handled the comparison, particularly with the price per unit. I’ve tried them all over the years and agree that they all perform well. Taylor’s of Old Bond Street has the top spot for me.
Really nice vidéo as always, i personally enjoy Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar range of product, thanks for your work Ash it push me to be a better chap every day as a 28 years old French viewer. Best regards.

I like T&H N.10. both the shaving cream and the moisturizer and I believe it's similarly priced as your winners. Like their Apsley cologne. Been using it for 4-5 years. Recently discovered DR. Harris Aftershave Arlington and fell in love with it. The fragrance is fresh yet not overwhelming, therefore I can use it with my perfume for the day. But what I love about it the most is the way my skin feels after I use it. It really calms down, and doesn't itch etc. Can highly recommend it.

I can't say enough on how amazing their soap is. I'm in the process of trying all their different fragrances before I make a decision of my favorite one. Once I do that, I will be searching to see if they have the pre- and post-shave balms of the same fragrance.
Proraso for me. Smells great during the shave and feels absolutely luxurious. Solid cream worked up in the branded plastic shaving mug. I look forward to using it. Straight razor or double edged for the trickier areas. G
You have to try trumper or Harris at some point, it's well worth the cost and blows Proraso out of the water in regards to how you are left feeling and the quality of the lather. Only a very small amount to get both trumper and harris to being so thick, creamy and slick. You get what you pay for.
I've tried all of those except DR Harris, and i also keep coming back to Taylor. Truefitt is just too pricy for me, and but i do like Trumper's Eucris and Spanish Leather.

I didn’t see the classic Taylor’s tan/beige tub….I must admit there was a great sense of relief when I heard you say Taylor’s and then I realized that the new tobacco leaf comes in a different color container. Question for your next shaving video : Why are we told that when applying shave cream with a brush we should paint it on rather than apply it in a circular motion? We lather it up in the bowl in a circular motion so why not apply it to our faces that way? At least that’s what is recommended with my Simpsons brush.
I’ve just noticed something both amusing and slightly frustrating. I tried 2 or 3 different places online for Geo F Trumper Eucris Shaving Cream after watching this but they’re all out of stock! I’m wondering if you’ve started a run on this particular cream and scent 😂😂. If so, it just goes to show how much influence your channel has. Keep it up, Ash!

Greetings from Spain! This is THE definitely video i need, because i'll visit London in september and, of course, St. james st. One last question: in your opinion, which is the best badger brush of that four shops? Thanks for your great work!
I stopped using badger brushes several years ago in favour of synthetic, which I find offer an even better shave experience. I have owned numerous badger brushes from TOBS, but I have not tried any of the other main shave houses products. The TOBS brushes were excellent, but they do deteriorate after a few years and lose bristles when shaving - a trait not commonly shared with the synthetic brushes.
Proraso from a tube with a big badger and silver Muhle brush and bowl every time. Not very patriotic I know, but Italians and Germans know about style and quality.
Can anyone out there help with this question? Do blades come in different widths? Reason I ask is I have a Edwin Jaeger DE89 and when I attempt to use it with Astra superior platinum blades the blade edge is not protruding out of the DE89 enough, meaning , to all intent and purposes they are unusable.
@@TheChapsGuide You are correct, I was making a mistake in my usage, which I'm to embarrassed to talk about haha. Thanks for the reply. Okay, I screwed a part on upside down. DUH!!!!!!!
I have to disagree, as I've used all four of those producers if shaving products and found D.R. Harris to be far and away the best. I'm terms of the creams that you were speaking of, the margins narrow, though the quality of lather from DR edge out the rest. however, if you use the hard soaps the quality difference is immediately apparent. DR uses an old-fashioned recipe containing tallow, and the cushion from the razor's edge is only paralleled in a few other products (namely Penhaligon's old shaving soaps and the ultra-luxurious Acqua di Parma), not to mention how it leaves your face feeling softer and nourished. I would recommend you try the DR Harris hard soap versions, as they truly offer the ultimate shaving experience.
Agreed. D.R. Harris shaving soap is sublime. I’ve been using the same puck since late September of last year, and more than half of it remains. I shave every day, but there have been about four weeks where I traveled and didn’t take the soap with me. A puck is £14, so it’s an outstanding value.
@@aaronramsonwhite have you gotten the beautiful wooden bowls they come in? You buy it once then can forever refill it with the inexpensive puck refills. There's something so wonderful about losing your brush out if a beautifully hand-turned wooden bowl. An old world luxury!
Hi Ash Quick question shaving related…if you were to purchase the Merkur razor again, would you choise the 34c or the 38c, which as you know is the same but a little longer? Only reason I ask is because I see you previously mentioned the handle of the one you own being a different, longer one to that which comes with the standard 34c. Regards, Jon B.
Just remembered your "perfect shave" video from about a year ago where you preferred Reuzel to all the brands mentioned in this video. Have you completely gotten away from Reuzel or do you still use it sometimes?
I use it a great deal, probably 50% of the time. I like to use other creams to keep it interesting. I only ever take reuzel when I travel. It is absolutely the easiest when moving around a lot.
@@TheChapsGuide I use a product called Cremo much the same way. Shaving super slicks are wonderful for travel or when you don't have time for a more traditional wet shave.

@@TheChapsGuide Thank you very much for the answer, my dear friend Ash!
very good video ash. I like the shaving video like this
Thanks 👍
I’ve tried all except Harris and put Taylor’s at the top. For some reason, Trumper never whips up to the same lather for me.
Proraso from a tube with a big badger and silver Muhle brush and bowl every time. Not very patriotic I know, but Italians and Germans know about style and quality.
tobs is the best quality/price
you should do one on soap too, great video
How much do you use to create a lather? Have you measured in grams? I’m more of a hard soaps guy
Great video, really informative, I'm looking for a new double edged shaver and shaving brush any recommendations?
Rockwell Razors are great and Yaqi brushes are excellent value.
@@TheChapsGuide Thanks for taking the time to answer your advice is valued
Can anyone out there help with this question? Do blades come in different widths? Reason I ask is I have a Edwin Jaeger DE89 and when I attempt to use it with Astra superior platinum blades the blade edge is not protruding out of the DE89 enough, meaning , to all intent and purposes they are unusable.
I thought all DE razors were the same size
@@TheChapsGuide You are correct, I was making a mistake in my usage, which I'm to embarrassed to talk about haha. Thanks for the reply.
Okay, I screwed a part on upside down. DUH!!!!!!!
Ash, what are your thoughts on TOBS Sandalwood?
Outstanding fragrance, very masculine and classical.
@@bheinatz1 yes, I have the beechwood bowl. It’s lovely. And I’ve been using the Arlington scent.
Hi Ash
Quick question shaving related…if you were to purchase the Merkur razor again, would you choise the 34c or the 38c, which as you know is the same but a little longer?
Only reason I ask is because I see you previously mentioned the handle of the one you own being a different, longer one to that which comes with the standard 34c.
Regards, Jon B.
I would go for the longer model if buying again. The extra length would be better.
Thank you for your quick response 👌
The bottom line is, in terms of performance all are same. The difference is only in price.
Shaving super slicks are wonderful for travel or when you don't have time for a more traditional wet shave.
what knife is that on your journal?
It’s a Heinnie Haynes Windmill knife.
Cartridge razors are worst electric razors are practical
Honest review although may i say .. Englishman is supposed to be snooty😂 n u r no exception 😂
I am Welsh sir. No English - but your compliment is much appreciated
Tabac soap
St James of London is better than all of them if you have the money
Floris of London is more expensive than all of these.
Floris does not produce a cream shave sir, only hard soap.
@TheChapsGuide indeed, I'm merely commenting on outrageously high pricing. Although, quality fragrance oils are often very expensive. Thank you sir for your hard work finding product value for us! Please be well!
Good evening Ash, Chaps
I swap my preference of shaving implement periodically. I do enjoy a safety razor though. I remember the days of stick soaps, I still look out for such.
I may well invest in one of your reviewed products.
I also often "dry" shave 😁

Cella Milano, Harris top
If you can stand the pungent scent, arko is hard to beat!
I think you're going to have to make a video on how to use a cutthroat razor first!!!😳.....(I assume that's what you mean by a "double-edged razor")
EDIT: Sorry! Watching your "personal grooming" video I've found out what you mean - it's not a cutthroat, but one of those old-fashioned single razor blade razors, of the kind I think my grandfather used to use! (I don't mean that in a derogatory sense but with great pleasure, as Grandpa was a man I very much admired!♥️)
You got it!
