Nice video. Wow, it brings me back. When I started my channel it was focused on wet shaving, and each video I stray further and further away from it, and haven’t visited the subject matter in a year(s). I do feel a bit as if I betrayed my subscribers that watched those, and my views have taken a bit of a dive. It’s nice looking at this video format style again, and it motivated me in a sense. I really should get back on it again. Thank you.
I enjoy a good shave in the outdoors - such a reaffirming experience and really confirms my thoughts that if you turn a chore into a joy, you will no longer have any chores. I have enjoyed your channel since subscribing recently. I look forward to your new content. Ash
In order: Tobacco leaf - Lime - Cedarwood - Sandlewood. Trumpers Eucris stands alone!! We hear about the three T's in shaving ( Taylor's,Truefitt,Trumper) but one should always remember the 4th T....TIME! Take your time to let the products sit on your face for a few minutes. I apply the lather and then set out my alum block, put the blade into the razor, and then proceed slowly. These few minutes are mine to enjoy. No need to hurry! Finally if all has gone well the alum block will not produce any sting at all. The true sign to me of a good shave.
Just received my shipment of TOBS Lime Zest from Connaught Shaving & looking forward to the shave next morning. Btw, have you tried Truefitt & Hill? Out of Rose Shaving Creams by Trumpers, Harris, Taylor and Truefitt, I prefer Truefitt. But you might like a different one.
I still need to get my first TOBS cream. I have to be quite selective with what I buy due to funding the habit so want to make sure I get the right one. Great video Ashley I’m a big fan of the King C Gillette too, great razor.
Thanks for the feedback - I would highly recommend the lime if you like citrus fragrances. The Cedarwood cream is my all-time favourite, it was a beautifully subtle, woody nuance that is glorious for any occasion. I hope you enjoy whichever you eventually pick - you will not be disappointed.
I absolutely love TOBS products. Their lavender shave soap was what got me started wet shaving; sadly it's discontinued and they only offer the cream now. Recently tried the Royal Forest which I quite like. Have the Tobacco Leaf and Lime Zest on order; I'm curious to see how it compares to Truefitt and Hill's West Indian Lime. Good scent but far too pricy for my taste.
I did not know that they had retired the lavender cream, its a shame, as I have previously used it to great enjoyment. I have had a pot of T & H WI Lime, in fct, as a huge lime aficionado I have tried most commercially available lime shave creams. I must confess, I preferred both Trumper & TOBS lime offering to T & H. I found the T & H to be too muted and subtle for my liking. Performance was good, as you would expect, but for me, TOBS is by far the most limey cream out there, with Trumper being more reserved, but still very pleasing. You are correct, these creams are expensive, but once purchased they last many months, so I console myself in the knowledge its not a purchase of fancy.
Nice shave! I will have to give that cream a go! I have been using Taylor’s creams for years. In my opinion, they are hard to beat for performance. I particularly like their avocado(smells quite fresh, but doesn’t remind me of an avocado) and rose creams. I have tried and finished tubs of all their offerings available except this one and the new tobacco one.
Avocado is one of the rare TOBS I have not tried as yet. I love the Rose and cedarwood as my favourites. The tobacco is a real gem, deep accords of cedarwood make it a real star for me.
You videos are great! Perhaps some Truefitt & Hill reviews are around the corner? They have some interesting history too. I think Sinatra and Churchill used it. Some Trafalgar or Grafton may be up your alley. Their store in London is fun to visit too. :-)
Excellent as ever. I subscribed a few weeks ago and on your recommendation have started to use Talylors. Not disappointed so far. Have you ever visited James Smith and sons at the top of Oxford st? Sounds similar. It's like something Sherlock Holmes would visit. They do umbrellas.
I have walked past the shop you mention many times and have marvelled at the treasures in the window. I have yet to appreciate fine umbrellas - oh no - I feel another compulsion coming over me!
I must admit. I still have a preference to the simple style opposed to the 4-in-hand and over style. As observed in these 2 options:ua-cam.com/video/KGf1NVnxL4s/v-deo.html

I am a Proraso and TOBS fanboy. One for everyday use and the other for special occasions (nearly every day for the last few weeks).

Well done. I love TOBS Sandlewood , one of the first creams I’ve ever owned.
Cedarwood is my all-time favourite TOBS scent, great creams!
Can't beat the citrus scents Ash. Nice outdoor shave buddy. I keep on meaning to do one myself
Cheers JIm - always nice to get out of the bathroom
Excellent as ever

@@TheChapsGuide the lavender cream is still available; I have it in my rotation. They no longer have the hard soap, which was just amazing.

Is the king shave as good as old Gillette razors.
It gives a good solid shave. Not sure it’s up to historical standards though
I've been told that a cut throat razor gives the best shave, but I've never tried it.
I would not trust myself with such an instrument of catastrophe!
I've also heard shaving bowls called a "scuttle"
We use scuttles to carry coal where I'm from, but I have also heard it used in the shave world.
Love the spermint as well.
Have you tried their lavender
Yes. Mild, but very nice.
I'd buy Dragon's Fart anything. It appeals to the 5 year old in me.
Perhaps I should market it!!
It sounds like it would be Welsh.
Just hope you have learned to tie a Cravat !
