- Analog Thru-Zero Wavefolding VCO/LFO
Pony VCO is a fully analog Thru-Zero oscillator with wavefolder and dedicated VCA in only 4HP. The module offers great stability and tuning capabilities thanks to its powerful core, based on
Sound Semiconductors IC. It comes with range selector, that allows it to go down to LFO range, as well as octave and waveform selectors.
Pony VCO is also available in 1U format keeping the same functionality and control layout.
Wow great release, love the super compact format and sounds rich :)
Damn, including the VCA was a really nice touch! That was the moment i was sold.
Nifty and clever design, albeit SMALL. Really like the timbre control and especially the saw/ramp timbre is very musically interesting. Great job!
Very neat design for the Tune portion being able to select the range with the switch.
A VCO with a wavefolder! It seems you'll have to design an LPG next :). Glad to see it's in a kit too. It'd be great to see a kit for the Stereo Strip too.
Heck yes to a Befaco LPG!!
Seconded.
Your designs are always so spot on 👌
congratulations!
i made a 4HP VCO addon module to mangle wave forms and it's awesome,
it's raw.
Love this, will get three
so dope
This uses a Sound Semiconductor SSI2130 VCO - super cool
Awesome
Dope
Love the sound and options this brings, but not having a fine tune knob is a major flaw in my book.
Imo the range switch will suffice.
If the range switch doesn't suffice, then you can use an offset on the pitch cv.
This looks super handy in 4HP, but what’s up with the TZ-FM section of the video? Why is the pitch changing?
Exponential FM I'd guess
Yeah, it’s weird for a few reasons: Its the through-zero section of the video, not expo fm, its audio appears to have been edited in, we can’t see the modulation source well enough, and another Pony video has a TZ FM section which also makes it hard to tell what’s happening.
Do want, but being an Aussie technician keen for a PCB/panel set (mouser shipping is free, PCB shipping is cheap). Exactly the little osc i have been kinda keeping an eye for for a while, juicy stuff.
I really hope the lack of a schema is a temporary thing tho, it kinda makes a kit not worth building if it comes to having to troubleshoot, ironically it wouldnt slow me down much cloning the cct anyway - as you know most of the work (at least on something this relatively simple) is in entering the circuit and creating the layout.
Will this be coming to VCV Rack?
Yes, soon 😏
@@Befacosynth hell yes!! are you ever going to get lich ported over as well? PureData has already been ported over, so I imagine there wouldn't be too much else required.
What's with all the oscilloscope videos? They're boring. Dump the scope. Let's hear it work.
