Mixed reaction by the commentators... i personally applaud anyone who has balls enough or skill enough to produce any kind of art. This is a lovely synth. Looks like it would fit on any desk studio comfortably. People always want to pay less for everything. It looks like you have spent considerable resources on producing this. Its only fair to be paid appropraitely. Well done sir, and to your wife. 👍
Hey that means a lot to me! I've always wanted to design my own synth and it's cool to be able to share it with the synth community! Thanks for watching!
I got no issue with the price. But on a personal note I just do not find this synth that interesting. To me (and again it's my personal opinion) it sounds like most other basic synths. There's just not anything unique sound-design-wise that makes me wan't to buy it. But I wish you all the best and success.
That stereo filter sounds dreamy. Poly chain mode is really incredible for most of us who have a volcakeys lying around. Beautiful work here!
I like this. There are a ton of synths more expensive that only offer mono or duophonic. At 574 UK pounds this, is a winner. Nice one.
The inverted LFO on the filters is awesome!
Thanks! My favorite part too!
This looks awesome! Sounds really good. Congrats!
Think it Sounds Wonderful and looks like a great instrument! Nice job! ❤
Interesting and thoughtful collection of controls for such a small synth. Love that stereo filter!
Sounds beautiful, nice work!
Definitely a very cool looking little synth
God work! Wishing you the best.
Awesome 😍🤩 congratz to your achievement 🎉❣️❤️🔥
This thing sounds nice and fat! Amazing that one person made this. Props!
Thank you! I've always been inspired by the amazing engineers from years ago that did the entire design themselves. Really cool to experience a small part of that! Take care!
Great job, great synth ! 👍👍👍
Sounds great. Well done!
This sounds gorgeous!
oooh this is gnarly. Very nice piece of kit!
Thank you! Really proud of this one!
Wow sounds fantastic
Incredible.....great work.
Great video! Really cool synth. I really like some of the shift features, the great filters, the great stereo effects, and can't wait to try it out (I ordered one today). A reasonable price for a quality product. I have purchased the SPACEBRAIN MidiVolts Desktop and Poly Sequencer in the past and enjoyed using them. Everything you make is high quality and lasts! Kudos to you and this awesome synth!
Thank to so much! I really appreciate the repeat purchases. Really means a lot to me! If you ever have any questions, I'm always here! Thanks!
Wow, I love this!
Sounds awesome!!
Beautiful sounding synth. This would be a perfect module for my MIDI Pedalboard. It’s an octave and a half. Great for mid to high pitch drone sounds while I’m playing bass with my hands!
This is soooooo good. A synth that sounds like this?? What a impressive job!
amazing sounds. i want one
Nice sounding synth 👍
Amazing job.
Really appreciate that!
sounds good love the low pass filter
Thank you!
this sounds amazing. you should be proud
Thank you! It's always been a dream of mine to design my own synth! Lots of hair pulling and late nights but very happy I was able to accomplish this goal! Take care!
Resonance sounds excellent 👍
Hey thank you so much! It drives me crazy when you lose volume when turning up resonance so I worked really hard on mitigating this! Makes filter adjustments so much more consistent! Appreciate it!
Really awesome.
Awesome man! New subscriber ✌🏻
Very cool synth
Thanks much!
This is sounds amazing! I am interested in this.
Thank you so much! Definitely let me know if you have questions!
Man this sounds so good.
Edit: Just ordered. Will try to remember to come back here to post an update, or maybe I'll post a video using it? In any case, very excited!
Thanks so much! Talk soon!
Loving this thing. Here's a link to me messing around with the DarkSky-4 ua-cam.com/video/yvs0Ve0TQPw/v-deo.htmlsi=gZqXeDltr9CSJ2Lm
Nice product
Sounds and looks great. I war one. The price is absolute right.
I am not an analog synthesizer guy. I wished for different when they were all there was and when digital and wavetable came on the scene I never looked back.
That said, I watched your entire video. I am nicely impressed by your work, design and sound quality. Price seems very good for what I see here. (I have an understanding of what it takes to make a product. It isn't for the faint of heart.)I truly wish you the best success with this little synth!
(I'm waiting for the guy who reinvents the Fizmo! I'd be down for one of them with a few caveats.)
I really appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
sounds fuck*** awesome at first glance. nice job!
Impressive!
Thank you!
Fantastic little synth you've come up with here. Some of these comments really rubbed me the wrong way. Many people seem to be so consumer-brained that they're completely ignorant of scale and resources; expecting you to compete in price with a company like Behringer. Imagine. lol Anyways, I wish you all the best, man. It's great seeing small businesses step out on their own taking chances with new products. Hopefully the overall response has been positive so far. I just recently purchased a small polysynth or this would be right up my alley. Blessings!
Really appreciate that! And yes, thanks for understanding! I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I was first thinking about designing this little guy. Anyways, seems like there is quite a demand for them so I'm going to try my best to keep them coming. Thanks again for the kind words!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 So it works like and expander to say Minitaur DB Nymphes making them 5 voice and 10 voice and stereo! Wow.
All I can say is I’ve been playing synths since before MIDI and I think this sounds great (through my mid-priced Bluetooth headphones on my iPad) and is fairly priced for what it is especially given that it’s created by a very small company. I’ve tried a number of “big company” synths lately and none of them sounded as fat and warm as this one. 😎✌🏼
Wow that means a lot to me! Appreciate the kind words!
Tidy Lil' rig !☝😀!
5:38 stereo mode is simply amazing
I'm a big fan of stereo movement too! Thanks!
Also a polyphonic synth analog with patch bay is really rare :o!
Is it polyphonic?
From my understanding you don't get a filter per voice.
Elegant design, nicely done. I am not sure how many will appreciate how nicely the stereo filtering capability was done here. A few highly subjective personal observations: There is disagreement on the point, but each VCA not having a dedicated EG = paraphonic to many and NOT polyphonic so use of the latter term could be questionable. At the price there perhaps also should have been an ASR envelope (option to gate loop as AR and lin->exp sweep is possible) allowing dedicated EG each for VCA and filter. Getting only the square out and only from VCO1 instead of the mix out from all 4 (or at least 1&2) is too bad. A mode to change the filters to series HP/LP (as on Matriarch) would have been a nice addition. None of that changes this being really well done.
Appreciate it! The ADSR section controls multiple independent EGs, but yes, there is only one ADSR set of controls. Gate looping sounds interesting! Would be a fun firmware upgrade! Thanks a lot!
@@spacebraincircuits1358 for me the "heart" of the design is the easy to use and elegant stereo filter arrangement. (I do not know how many might agree with or appreciate that) I feel that taking that "heart" and combining it with a SBC for the VCOs, LFO(s), and EG(s) then quality DAC to VCAs -> filters (with serial/parallel option and maybe state variable) could make for a possibly more unique offering? Call it the RedSky-4 or some such. Oscillators being digital opens all kinds of possibilities... In any case this here synth which actually exists is 👍👍
@@klstay definitely a cool thought! Yes, I love stereo modulation so that is why I focused mostly on this. Would be cool to be able to reroute the filters, definitely something I will consider! Again, thanks for the kind words!
Please eurorack this amazing sounding instrument
This thing looks and sounds really awesome!! For how clean the front is, the back panel does feel a bit messy. Two different types of midi connector, USB mini B with the pcb showing through and the connectors not aligned with each other. It might not influence the functionality itself but it still counts in a premium-priced device. Currently the price is too steep for me (especially including shipping and VAT) but overal an incredible effort! Will keep my eye on this one for sure because the sounds are right up my alley.
Also: please mention the dimensions of the device somewhere. It's quite important for small-setup-people like myself 🙏🏻
Thanks for the kind words! Yes, I see your points and will keep this in mind. I appreciate the time and feedback. I will also provide dimensions on the listing! really appreciate it!
Interesting choice of USB connector
Lol I know! It's funny, I have so many USB mini cables laying around. I think I just assumed subconsciously that everyone was still using them. 😂
Awesome sound 👍 Will there be a shipping option to Germany?
Working on that now and should have international availability soon! Thanks for watching and the interest!
Sounds great and the UI is ergonomic as well! Any plans for other color faceplates?
I hadn't thought of it! What colors?
@@spacebraincircuits1358 White/metalic silver or dark blue hence the name DarkSky would be great. A teal color color could also work to make it distinguishable in a dawless set up! I am interested in one if it is non-black (=
This is impressive! A similar set of features made me buy a moog matriarch last year but that synth doesn't have the option to do real poly 4 voice, only paraphonic.
How did it do such a thing? Would it be possible on the matriarch circuitry?
As for criticisms, this thing needs stereo effects. I'm thinking a delay and stereo distortion like the Trigon 6
If i'm not mistaken, you don't get the regular "filter per voice" with this one.
only 2 filters in total, kinda like the matriarch, but you do get separate VCA's per voice so it's kind of poly?
You can use a stereo synth with mono effects if you have a mixer, you will still retain the original stereo source summed with mono-to-mono or mono-to-stereo effect.
Yep, thats exactly right! Thanks for the comment!
Quick question: Forgive my ignorance. I read the manual but couldn't find it explicitly stated. I think the only digital control on this synth is the LFO, are all the other controls analog/voltage-controlled (such as filter cutoff, envelope controls, etc.)? I assume they are due to the patchbay, but I'm just not sure.
Hey! Great question! The VCOs, VCAs, Filters, and LFO are all analog signal path. The ADSR envelopes are the only digital signal. Thanks for watching and let me know if you would like to know anything else!
@@spacebraincircuits1358 Thanks for the quick reply!
This is great. The only other recent poly synth with analog controls similar to this is the Dreadbox Abyss. This makes your synth really stand out! I've been craving a pure analog poly without presets. They are surprisingly rare.
This is veeeery tempting haha. Well done!
@@MythMakerMusik haha well! I really wanted to build the synth that Ive always wanted. Something simple that just does whats important to me. Really appreciate that! Take care!
Beautiful work. Compares favorably to the Nymphes, but fatter, and of course stereo.definitely inspirational.and probably aspirational. What's the price point on these?
Nymphes is a six complete subtractive voice synth (VCO-VCF-VCA for each voice)
I dont think the price is so crazy. Wish i could afford one, but then my current budget is $0! Good luck to you.
damn it. sold out already. A question in case it becomes available again:
Do the CVs ins work with common eurorack voltages or did you do something funky inside so it's mainly for self patching?
and btw: Thats an interesting one. The stereo-character reminds me a little bit of my beloved polyevolver
More should be available soon! Shoot me a message on Etsy if you would like to be notified! And yes, the patchbay is standard eurorack voltages. Thanks!
The sound is very close to the Juno 106.
Hello ...lovely sounds ... really it is a great job... how may I buy one for me ? ... I live in paris - France...
Hey thanks for the interest! Send me a message on Etsy and we can discuss sending one to you! Import taxes make international a bit more complicated so it's best to discuss first! Thanks for the interest!
How snappy are the envelopes? It is good for basslines (not talking about bleepy acid, but proper deep and snappy basslines) as a monosynth? Those are the things many would like to know.
I wish I remembered to add a demo on the envelopes. It was important for me to allow the filter envelope to have the ability to sweep through the entire frequency range on the filter. This is something I've always missed on some of my synths. I think they sound super snappy but I'll let you decide. I should have some more demo clips over the next weeks. Thanks for the comment!
@@spacebraincircuits1358 Thank you so much for your friendly and thoughtful answer, hope to check out some more demoes soon, it sounds promising. Dry, punchy, snappy bass lines can sell me almost anything.
@@RetningNord haha that sounds dangerous! Appreciate the interest!
I dont understand not including a power supply. Yea folks may have one... that is powering another synth that it came with.
Sounds great though.
Looks like you sold them all (on etsy) ...congrats! looks interesting but i stopped buying gear...need to focus on what i have already 😇. btw. your other devices look also nice.
Thank you so much! Im actually building more units now. Best of luck to you!
Etsy Link not working
sounds great. Really fat sounds
Thank you!!
I was hoping for a cheaper alternative from the Leipzig..
Does it MPE?
You guys already got me thinking of firmware upgrades. Definitely doable. Thanks for the comment!
One request: MPE since there is only one small analog poly synth with MPE on the market today and that's the Dreadbox Nymphes, but the controls are a bit too convoluted to be a reliable performance tool in my humble opinion. Even in mono mode with MPE and an Embodme ERAE Touch controller it would be a killer to play live basslines with X/Y/velocity and aftertouch all in control of one hand while having the other one free for fingerdrumming or launching clips.
What's MPE?
Thanks, there is a lot to unpack here but always love to hear thoughts on future firmware upgrades! Appreciate it!
shut up and take my money
Appreciate you watching!
That is a not-very-square sounding square wave. It all sounds good, but it just doesn't sound like a pure square.
Hmm interesting! I'll take a look at this! Thanks!
They wont ship to UK 🤨🤨😮😮🙄🙄😛😛🤔🤔😎😎
Thanks for the comment! I am still looking working the logistics for international shipments. I should have an update soon!
Um, you can get a Behringer Deepmind for that price. You get more voices, a ton of effects, more routing combos and an awesome GUI software editor. Please understand I am not taking anything away from the efforts put forth here, I am speaking to market realities. The Cobalt also competes in this price range with a full high quality keybed, double the voices and another great GUI editor.
Behringer Deepmind for couple of years didn’t add MPE support, and continuing non-adding MPE to all poly-analog products. If author adds normal MPE support (just a few lines of code to the firmware) it eats all competitors.
But then you’ll have a Behringer.
thank you, that's what I was trying to say@@profitsandloss
Have you heard the Deepmind without any effects processing? In terms of dry sound, this sounds so much better to my ears. Once you add effects (pedals or valhalla, vst effects, etc) it'll be gorgeous!
EUR666 for 4-voice poly… or EUR400 for 8-voice behringer pro800… I appreciate there is a premium for boutique synths but I can’t see anything amazing in this synth, it’s matched or outclassed by 100s of other synths in this price range… bring us something unique.
Hate to break it to you but Behringer has more scale than any other synth company on the planet. Their cost cutting measures have been refined over decades, and they manufacture in Guangdong China which has less labor standards/pay than almost any other region in their country.
Expecting a single person, with their FIRST product to compete with the price of companies like Behringer is delusional.
What pisses me off the most about this comment is your demand to ‘bring us something original’… he did make something original. He made a polysynth with a patch bay a stereo filter. Trying to undermine that because you don’t like the price compared to a behringer product is peak synth community toxicity.
Dude, include the power supply! And standardize your ins and outs, having different sized midi and audio connections is silly.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll consider this for the future!
The connections are standard, keep them that way please!
Fantastic synth 👍
No, MIDI and audio SHOULD be on different connectors.
@@leftmono1016 The point is, don't use both midi din and 1/8 on the same device for midi for example, use one standard or the other, both is nonsense. Same with audio, either pick 1/8 or 1/4 connectors.
@@dodgingrain3695 - mini jack is standard for CV modular connectivity and 1/4 inch is standard for audio. Would be stupid to deviate from this.
The midi being different is strange I’ll admit, but as long as midi in is on 5 pin din I’m happy.
Please show us resonance sweeps and fast envelopes. Pluck basses with steep resonance using sub osc. Drop the second LPF and replace with resonant HPF. Seriously. Dual LPF has limited use cases. Consider smarter pricing like Nymphes at $499. Avoid rookie hubris.
Maybe you should think more about hubris...
$699 ugh. If you cut the price half, it could be viable. Otherwise it is hard to justify the price other than just donating for your boutique project.
Hey I appreciate the feedback! This is a side project that my wife and I run. I just like to offer and show my ideas to the world that are a bit more unique than the more conventional music devices.
It would be great if smaller shops had the same resources as larger corporations. Pretty hard to complete with those prices. I try really hard to price my products at a fair price, and not gouge people out of their money. Considering all the time, education, resources, production costs, etc. I do my best to price accordingly.
I appreciate you watching. And please keep an eye out, I do run sales occasionally. Thanks again for the feedback!
@@spacebraincircuits1358 I think one of the mistakes of some starter businesses is that they try to amortize r&d cost in the first set of products. It is ok to do that if your product offers some amazing features. But lets be clear, there is nothing like that here. Yes there is a stereo filter with separate FM, but it is still not enough to make this para synth outstanding. Smarter choice would be to spread r&d cost over a chain of future products. Otherwise this great synth will be forgotten in time like tears in the rain...
that's all fine if you're an established company. For a new company with their first product not exactly practical. @@eugene1862
I actually think that given a minilogue xd is made by a huge company that this scales about right for 4 note poly machine made by one person.
But maybe I know as little as any other Internet commentator... 😂
700 for some guys homemade synth? no thanks 🙏 😮
Sounds pretty good, tbh. Everyone starts somewhere.
Lol. You do know you just rubbished a lot of eurorack modules and boutique instruments?
Imagine being this ignorant. Couldn't be me.
4 voices only... sorry but I skip synths with less then 8 voices
😂
How nice for you. 🙄

fucking crazy price. nice synth though!
