Hi Ryan! I totally agree with you! I started my residency program on July 1st, and I can completely relate to what you're saying. It's so important to spend time with good friends and let go of the toxic ones. Thanks for making this video-it is a great reminder, and you’re definitely one of my old treasure friends! LOL🤩
Good lesson. I wish I have listen to this 6 years ago when i start my dental program. I learned friendships the hard way. I had to regretable flush some friends down the toilets because they become too toxic to continue the friendship. Fortunately i met some super smart medical students as friends. I can count on them to teach me medical topics that dental students sometimes must attend joint classes with 4MD and 6MD students. Being American I learned how to BBQ at age 15-18. So I make friends with medical students by making cooking them steaks and offer few bottles of whiskeys. No one can resist steaks and whiskies. Evil smile. Life simply too hard if I keep only dental friends. I had to go across the bridges to mix friends with Medical students. I found medical students are easier to make friends because we simply don’t treat each other as threats. Dental students become hard core when competing with each other. Communication often stop simply because we are too busy killing each other in classes or labs. We had to fight in classes to get professor attentions and we also had to fight for patients time in labs or school hospital. Easiest ways to make friends with Medical students are cooking them “Tomahawk steaks”. Whack medical students friends with cooked Tomahawk steaks will net you friendship for life.
Yes, exactly! 💯💯💯 I was considering making a video about identifying and dealing with narcissists. Maybe I should? 🤔 The narcissist I met two years ago changed my perspective about many things, and that experience gave me a lot of wisdom on the topic!
@@mentaldentalyes, it would be cool if you make a video about them, it will increase people’s awareness and help to set boundaries not to let narcissists in our lives. I met a few narcissists in dental school and it took me awhile to recover.
I wish I knew this 4 years ago...I thought I was wise enough but ended up in the most toxic friendship ever I was only their friend once they needed help in practical and clinical work...I have no idea how I was so oblivious ...next semester will be a fresh start hopefully thank you doc
Don’t blame yourself. We never learned this in school. Toxic people can be very manipulative and wear a mask to lure you in, but ultimately their true colors show. Congrats on breaking free and a fresh start! 💯🙏🏼👏🏼
I have this problem for more than a decade. It is still holding my improvement despite my extensive education and that's because of the nature of my culture and surrounding environment. I'm still struggling and trying to take myself out of this dilemma.
Awesome as always! Sir you are specialising in Orthodontics : would love to see more videos on ortho besides that amazing orthodontics playlist. Thanks 💜
