  • As I’m sure you know, telling yourself to just think positive or just be grateful or just get over it when you're feeling bad, sad, mad, angry or resentful typically doesn't cut it. So don't feel bad if that hasn’t worked for you every time. We are more complex than just being able to positive our way out of our emotions all the time.
    Here I teach you a simple 3 step process using CBT and mindfulness for moving through a negative feeling in an effective, helpful, but pretty counterintuitive way!
    Let me know how it goes.
    HERE'S MY FREE 10 MINUTE GUIDED MINDFULNESS AUDIO FOR YOU: courses.juliak...

    Thank you, I really needed this! I recently broke up with someone and I have days where I really miss him and feel so sad and lonely and I get frustrated with myself for feeling like that because I know we're not right for each other. This video helped me understand that it's ok to feel sad sometimes and to be more patient with myself :)

    Thank you for this video, Julia. I recently had this same discussion with my therapist. So, hearing it from you I'm like "Oh yeah. I've heard this before."

    Thank you for these videos! I listen to at least one every morning while I go about my day and it really helps me feel rooted to the day ahead of me and to myself. A lot of these tips you give, and especially these ones, are ones that feel familiar to me. I think they’re things I’m already trying to do in these moments but I haven’t been able to really identify the process so it makes it a bit slippery for me to hang onto. Having you identify the steps and give structure to it helps SO much. Thank you Julia!!

    How do you stop being codependent? Always have been. Diagnosed with clinical depression in high school. Have abandonment issues for good reasons. The last year has been hell. My son, 34 was in a very serious car accident last August with a TBI. He’s healing very well. Went through so much stuff with his wife as she is addicted to pain medicine and he kept it locked up from her before so I continued. Caused terrible arguments that were just unreal. He doesn’t have full memory yet, so she filled in the blanks with lies. The list is very long. I stayed with him for 3 months in the hospital, not her. Paid their bills. Now he won’t talk to me. It breaks my heart. Prior to his accident we were very close and dependent on each other. Also during that time my husband left and we’re divorced. Now I’m disabled, was a nurse. Live completely alone in another state. I’ve always been very codependent, I hate being alone. I don’t know how to be alone? I’m 57 and miserable. Going out and occupying myself doesn’t work, I can’t. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia so my mobility is limited. Those have their own set tournament. Thank you very much

    Hello Juila ... Thank you I love your videos ❤ I appreciate them!
    I am definitely willing to put theses tools into use! 😊
    My question that goes with this is that. .. I find if a situation or event happens or is about to happen (past present or future within a few months back or forward time frame) I tend to think think think think think about this over and over and over replaying in my head all day all night for usally weeks on end 😭😭😭 I have no clue how to stop this ... ???? Because it causes huge issues within mainly emotions but not limited too 💔💔💔 I feel emotions for long drawn out days weeks months. .. Please help ideas suggestions ??? If I didn't do this then I wouldn't ALWAYS be needing to use these lovely techniques you suggest ❤
    Thank you

    Can you do a video on subtle ways that a person emotionally abuses another person over a long period of time and how the victims can set themselves up to no longer be a victim? Please? There's nothing on UA-cam about the subtleties and even though there are videos that give advice... Well, it's personalized to the person speaking and their personalities. I want facts. I want science :(

      There's not a lot you can do George other than making sure you are being open, loving and warm toward her until she feels safe enough to open up.

    Julia I didn't quite understand how does one tame the emotion? By distracting oneself?

    • @juliakristinamah
      @juliakristinamah  7 років тому

      actually, the opposite Sarah. Usually we try to avoid out emotions or condemn ourselves for having them, and that's what makes them worse or keeps us stuck in them. Often our emotions just need to be heard and acknowledged before they will be ready to be on their way.

      How does it go away?

    • @OoTom94oO
      @OoTom94oO 7 років тому +2

      Strangely enough, I think it might go away because you're being honest with yourself about what you are feeling rather than hiding from it. When you try to not think about something, it always comes back round and you can't stop thinking about it. Like if I said not to think about oranges, your next thought is most likely going to be oranges. It takes time but it does seem that by accepting your thoughts and emotions, it makes it easier to move on from them and get out of that loop. The best way to practice this would be meditation. I've been doing a lot of it recently using an App on my phone and it's helped me loads with anxiety and overactive thoughts! The one I use is called Headspace but there is another called Calm which seems good too :)
