Mr. P. Explores... An Abandoned Junior High School (Cleveland, Ohio)

- In this adventure, we return to the scene of one of Cleveland, Ohio's truest tragedies; an abandoned junior high school that became the victim of gross neglect, the restructuring of a bureaucratic nightmare and the slow burn of public education in Ohio. This was the second time we'd visited this school; the first round was to tour and document the structure and all that it contained via photography. This time, we wanted to document the place in a walkthrough to show the character and style that once provided a warm and safe place to learn for generations of kids, staffed by hard-working teachers, administrators, custodians, nurses and lunch ladies who called this their "home away from home." Dances, homework, a trip to the principal's office for cutting up, sporting events, kids hanging out after school, taking out a book in the library on a rainy, dreary afternoon, filmstrips, getting that rectangle of pizza everyone HAD to have every week. If you look under the rubble, graffiti, broken furniture and decay, and use your imagination, you can see it. Its all still there. This was once a solid and hearty place that formed memories for thousands of individuals over the long decades that it was a functioning school. Indeed, it is borderline criminal that it has been left in such a state.
For those of you who attended or worked here, you have my deepest sympathy. At different times in my life, I have both been a student and a teacher in an old behemoth like this one, and even though they were both old, creaky, centenarian hulks with steam heating, they were home. I'd be livid if I saw my alma mater laid low like this. Just know that this video was taken not to tarnish the place, but to memorialize it. The historian and teacher in me wants nothing less than to have you all remember the best of times that this place was able to give you. With that, talk a walk through the now dim halls and see what remains of what used to be a school of excellence... -Mr. P.

I graduated from Central Jr. Height in 1984. So much history and Langston Hughes grated from here as well.
Doing this now! Past midnight. I've only done solo night Urbex so far. 4 in Detroit now this one. Thanks for helping me discover this and be an inspiration to get involved. Just started my UA-cam so I'd appreciate everyone's support.
So many memories! My first public teaching position was in this building. My former room (the science lab) at 4:42. So sad to see what this piece of history has become!
I was the last principal (7 years) of Willson. Closed in 2005 after 103 years. Not sure why it still stands. I know it had asbestos issues, but that should not have delayed the demolition for 14-15 years.
You was my principal when I was there
beautiful music, beautiful building. Great share.
I went to school at Wilson for 3 years from 1974 to 1977 and the at that time the school was looking pretty bad but I made it
through with only getting beat up a few times.
Honestly insane that this school is abandoned it looks like it was way nicer than the one I had to go to.
Looks worse than mine does now
What was the name of the junior high school?
MysticalPhoenix1990 Wilson middle school
Willson Middle School.
What is the point other than sad music and an abandoned building. Sad perhaps but inquiring minds should seek out WHY officials abandoned it. Otherwise just more despair porn seeking to capture the naive for a underlying purpose.
