I think that the Blaster Lightsaber is more of a gimmick than anything else. Also, I got an idea of my own- a lightsaber bayonet.

I feel like Mace Windus should've been on the list. The hilt just looks very elegant and combined with the purple blade just a very unique weapon. The way he uses it in the battle against Sidious is also epic.

@@wrought_lender3182 I think we see one other purple saber in the Clone Wars. In the episode where the group of younglings go to Illum to get their kyber crystals, one of them ends up with a purple one.
Personally I would have included Ahsoka's lightsabers from the Clone Wars, not so much because of the dual wielding, but because one is much shorter. Not sure if that is what the creators were going for but it almost seems like a parrying dagger.

The reason i loved the fight with dooku vs anakin and kenobi on planet oba diah is because it shows how much of a genius dooku was in combat.
Anakin uses a lightsaber fighting style which is effective on offence and kenobi is most effective on defence, so dooku was mostly attacking anakin with swift swings to put him on disadvantage and trying to keep his distance from kenobi and forcing him on offence.
He was countering them both at the same time

@@grimtunes3527 The cool thing about both of the fights were, Obi-Wan changed his form from soresu to ataru sometimes, which he gained advantages and caused confusing to them. Kenobi could beat maul within seconds because of that.

But in the rebels i noticed kenobi switch from his signature pose to jinn's signature pose, knowing maul's sadistic nature he would attack him in the sane way he killed jinn.
Strike on the right, strike on the left, then bonk him with the hilt, do 360° spin and impale the saber in the stomach but kenobi blocked the two side strike and quickly slashed inside maul's hilt and his stomach before he was bonked.

My favourite is Kylo's lightsaber. I was also young like him when I saw the Force awakens trailer. But the reason he put it in the 3rd spot, the reason why it's my favourite.

When I was young my favorite lightsaber is Darth Maul’s double bladed lightsaber. I remember when I was a kid I saw that lightsaber I was like oh my god that’s so cool! But I don’t know why kids now like kylo’s lightsaber? And darth maul is way more powerful than kylo ren⚔️

I'm actually really happy you put Kylo Ren's lightsaber on the list, kylo Ren is one of my favorite actors along with his lightsaber, Disney just ruined him like they do with everything. I love your list, if it were mine I'm not sure if I would have Darth maul's lightsaber over dooku's or not, it's really hard to say there. But I noticed you didn't put Mace windu's lightsaber in the list at all?

The way dooku fights is very graceful and dooku himself is very sophisticated and i appreciate that, its a cool style

Dooku is my favorite sith but I have never felt like Maul or his dual lighsaber were even a little bit cool. He just sprints in on a bike and starts bouncing around like Tigger; his movements are too dance'ie and numb and senseless feeling for me and that dual saber forces him to turn his whole body, so he doesn't hit himself... I have never understood why everyone likes Maul so much, while I don't like him even a little. Maul was cool, for me, right up until the moment he jumped off of his bike when he ambushes them in the desert, which isn't very long.
Count Dooku is ellegance in flesh, everytime he activates his lightsaber it has the same energy, as when Severus Snape casts a spell in a Harry Potter movies

I dont think of the sequals as canon.
Its not a saber model of the sequels, the crossguard lightsaber was introduced in rebels in an ancient battlefield underground before the high republic had happened (so the battle occurred before the prequels took place, which means the crossguard saber was created way before the sequels)
The cross guard lightsaber was in the clone wars Disney did not invent it

I really like Vader's saber. The fact that it can actually be adjusted in height during the battle seems absolutely badass to me for an already badass character.
If I'm being honest, my favourite lightsaber of all time remains Luke's green lightsaber. Now, obviously I realize that in terms of design, it's not that different from Yoda's or Qui Gon's.....and not too far from Vader's, Anakin's/Luke's/Rey's, or Obi Wan's, but I always loved the handle, I loved that it was his saber, I loved the colour, and well obviously the fact that the only canon cinematic material that I had access to as a child was the original trilogy and back then seeing a lightsaber that wasn't blue or red was already so incredible (And it made the last Luke/Vader duel look so awesome and different.) So yeah, while I 100% understand why it wouldn't be on your list, it remains my favourite.

@@Zeuzz-YT I can get it. Its all a matter of personal preferences. I remember the first times I watched Star Wars and being flabbergasted by the fact that green was an option lol. It's funny how I identify with the original trilogy even though I was like 8 or something when the prequels came out....I thought that Episode 1 would have been a great introduction had they not immediately killed Darth Maul (and then they pulled the usual Star Wars trick/the old "Oh damn, our character is popular? Let's say he didn't die for real and sell toys") but Episode 2 ......man it took me years not to fall asleep watching that movie....It's not a figure of speech or anything, I'd literally fall asleep every time I'd try to watch it...which is quite impressing considering that I usually have to take a bunch of pills to calm down and go to sleep lol

Dooku, and Kylo’s lightsaber is unique but highly impractical, so it’s pretty lame ngl
i think Kylo's is impractical, but Dooku's seems pretty useable. In the lore, the slightly lower angle of the blade that the curved hilt gave him threw off his opponent, because the blade was off where it was for their sabers.
? Niether are impractical, dooku's curved hilt allows him to have stronger and more precise swipes and attacks, kylos saber prevents the other duelest from sliding down his blade in a Lightsaber lock,
Dooku’s saber is possibly the MOST practical lightsaber, it aligns the blade with his arm which is very useful in fencing/dueling, aka Makashi, Dooku’s preferred fighting form.
Kylo’s also very practical, but it was not properly taken advantage of. If he had properly used the handguard as a handguard, or covered the outer emitter in beskar/cortosis, it would’ve been the BEST lightsaber in terms of practicality.

Count Dooku was a gentleman as he was a duelist, so he designed his weapon for that purpose. The curve allowed him to align the blade with his wrist for a more efficient thrust as well as give him far greater reach. Watching him fight is like poetry in motion,
I like those small double bladed lightsabers used by the Jedi temple guards. I also like Dooku’s lightsaber
I always have, and continue to think that the cross-guard lightsaber is really dumb, mostly because of the unstableness of the lightsaber and having two tiny lightsaber blades near the hand is really dumb and not safe.

Agree with most of these. I would also add Ahsoka because canonically she is the ONLY Jedi to wield white lightsabers. But I’m biased so keep that in mind😂

Actually shoto sabers we’re quite common yoda’s saver is a shoto but they were primarily used as off hand weapons and were apparently extremely useful against lightsaber whips

Well, to be fair, if I'm in the star wars universe and I see a dude with a lightsaber on his belt I'll be more careful and ready than if I see an old man walking with a lightsaber concealed as cane.......Not that's it necessarily is extremely cool, but in terms of "what it accomplishes" well, that would be my first answer.

I liked Kylo Ren as a character. The brutish combat style, where his hits are more rage driven, yet still precise, and the ominous look of the character are just cool. He looks like a dark fantasy knight with a greatsword, and it's honestly pretty epic. I saw a lot of potential for Kylo Ren, sadly, disney gave me false hopes. In my opinion 5:30 is one of the coolest scenes in Star Wars, just how he ominously appears from the mist with I'd say the coolest lightsaber, and he fearlessly approaches the duel. It pisses me off to see a character with such good and thought of lore and, well, character, go to waste.

I also had high hopes for Disney to stick the landing in ROS with Kylo Ren. I think part of the problem was all the parallels with Darth Vader that made people see him as a sith lord, while in reality he seems to still be very much an apprentice that can't control his emotions. In his first duel with Rey the injury is a factor, but I think a bigger factor is that he is probably emotionally imbalanced after having killed his dad. His doubts on whether or not he was a worthy heir to Darth Vader could explain why he wasn't able to force pull the lightsaber (still a problem with Disney's writing as they didn't make this clear). If you look at it this way he had the potential to be an awesome villain once he managed to control his emotions, but instead we got zombie Palpatine.
I’m confused by Krells ranking. If your rating lightsabers then why put Krell here? If it’s how he used them then wouldn’t it be you like Krells skill w the lightsabers because they just seem like normal double bladed lightsabers just not sith attire. And personal opinion, I feel like Kylos lightsaber is a bit overrated. And I don’t understand what about dookus use of the lightsaber makes it such a great lightsaber. We are talking about the coolest lightsabers not the people who used them. It’s almost like saying anakin had the best lightsaber bc of how he used it in battle. For Dooku, Maul and Krell it seems u went more off the characters than the Lightsabers

The cross-guarded lightsaber is SOOO underrated! It’s my favorite design. I mean the double-blade ones pretty awesome too, but you also see them a lot. And as such; the novelty can kinda where off. And I didn’t even know that Dominic had a curved hilt when I was a kid, but it is kinda cool (also the light-whip’s pretty neat too). Great video👍though.
Obi Wan’s (EP’s 3&4) and Dooku are the two best lightsabers.

Sorry, but I have to strongly disagree with nr. 3.
Kylo's lightsaber is BS as the cross guard is useless. I know there are lightsaber resistant materials but lightsabers were almost never build of those. Also he swings it like a claymore sword which is swung like that because it is very heavy sword. Lightsaber is just light - in both meanings, It's a light weapon so it is unlikely somebody would swing it like Kylo did, unless he would be just showing-off.

Pong Krell just has 2 generic double bladed sabres, which aren’t cool unless you take into account the user, but your title says your ranking the sabres.
Dooku’s sabres is dope, but it isn’t the coolest sabre one Star Wars, it’s just Dooku who carries it.
Same with maul, another basic double bladed sabre.
You should have ranked things similar to the dark sabre, because it’s a different novel sabre, or actually looked at the designs of the hilts.
No one is gonna talk about how Kylo’s lightsaber is purely impractical? I understand the broken crystal and the sparking is cool and makes sense, but the cross guard is just stupid. The cross guard provides no support or protection from the opponent because they can just slice the metal part in between the two beams. And it is just dangerous for him because it is adding extra things he need to worry about hurting himself with and provides no strategic offensive advantage either

I feel the need to mention that this is about the coolest lightsabers not the most practical or best looking "normal" lightsaber. And for that, I agree with your top pick. I'm not sure if you knew this but Dooku designed his lightsaber in this manner because of how he viewed lightsaber duels. Unlike most Jedi who saw them as fights or tests of strength, Dooku saw them as dance, an elegant dance with two or more Jedi attempting to prove how well they can utilize and sync up with their partener, aka the lightsaber. Thus Dooku's lightsaber design used a curved hilt as it made his fighting style more elegant and graceful while emphasizing the idea that lightsaber battles are meant to be a dance with your blade and not a fight to kill your enemy. It is also for this reason that even though Dooku was capable of duel wielding, he absolutely refused to do so and hated it when others did as he saw it as a disrespect towards the true nature of lightsaber combat.

7:37 Dooku's design is the way it is because his actor, Christopher Lee, was a trained and skilled fencer (among many many other things seriously if you don't know his life story give it a look up, bro was quite literally the World's Most Interesting Man) and the hilts were curved to better suit his style and make it easier for him to use due to his arthritis

Count Dooku's lightsaber is especially cool because his lightsaber comparing to Assaj Ventress's shows that Ventress has much to learn. While hers is the embodiment of the letter "C", his is curved tastefully, with a flat grip at the middle, a slight curve at the emitter so that when he holds the hilt casually it will be level with the ground, and the sharp curve in the back that gives leverage for when he has to use 2 hands. Truly the best lightsaber.
