    Another REALLY useful video. I need to increase my knowledge as I am changing from a 4 stroke to a 2 stroke engine in my microlight. I know the setup will be different to chain saws/weedeaters etc but the essential principles are the same. Thank you! 🙂

    I have a very similar carb on my mountfield hedge cutter and was having problems starting it. The idle set screw had to be screwed down quite far to keep the engine running under idle. The L screw (exactly the same as the vid) didn't seem to do much. The H screw is a pacman type in a very awkward position. I noticed as the engine warmed up i could wind the idle set screw out to maintain idle and stop the blades moving. It's a real art setting these screws. Thanks for the info

    Great video! Those are dependent carburetors, and in my humble opinion, I think it is better to adjust the high screw first, then the low side afterward.

    Having similar on Tanaka s trimmers and never had to adjust them cuz there perfects especially if metering diaphragm is in good condition!😊

    Hey Craig, I'm surprised you didn't mention throttle response relative to the low screw. That seems to be the most common occasion that I have to tweak it if the machine is otherwise idling w/o issue, but has poor throttle response revving up from idle. Appreciate your help, time and illustrations in your content!

      Hi. Yes it’s quite difficult to fit everything in when making a video and there does always seem to be something else that could have gone in. I suppose it’s a topic for another video 👍

      This is great. Are €8 Carbs from Tamu etc OK? It looks like your carbs are Chinese as well. I know the pros use Walbro or Tillotson but they are expensive and harder to find. One more thing, does Stihl premix fuel contain ethanol? Jack

    I have a carb on a JCB hedge cutter that has the hidden low screw but no H screw? The only number on the carb is 5A. No name. Any ideas? The machine runs ok but it's gutless at high revs and will only cut small branches. Thanks

    Tricky, if someone has made a mess of the idle Mix screw as if you try to set the main jet screw, it may be way to rich or lean trying to compensate for the idle mix screw. Fantastic carb but its all one jet like on a 70's original mini "variable jet" carb. SO... you need to find out the idle screws turns for that carb and set it at "Base" and even the main jet too as a starting point then you can adjust main jet at high rpm and then set the idle mix after and you should all be good. Please... warm up your engine first before going to full throttle as many channels say that 2 stroke, you can just go nuts from cold. Lotsa nice pictures of burnt out pistons and melted rings and scoring from over heat and too much stress on 2 strokes.
