Hi guys I just wanted to Introduce to you my other Channel "Things to Know" - which i'm just getting started. It's a go-to channel for insightful worldly explanations, handy tips, and expert advice on everyday things and repairs of domestic items. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/channels/O8P9x5kUZ44Fb11vanLFsg.html
I have been a small engine mechanic for 11 years. I still can learn from you and these very informative videos. You do a great job explaining what is going on and I always learn something I didn't know when I watch your videos. PLEASE!! Keep up the great work you do.
Your diagrams are excellent. Understanding what is happening in the carb is as important to me as making it run right. Thank you good Sir for your thorough Britishness.
An immense amount of knowledge gained, in such a small amount of time. A really informative well balanced video with great diagrams. You presented this at my level of understanding, and at no point talked down to the viewer like many videos availible, by other channels.....Forgot to mention ,my chain is now running perfect! Many Thanks.
Hands down best instructional video. Answered every possible question i have and solves all my current problems as well as address all the other ones I may run into. Don't forget the amazing animation to really put it into perspective. Well done 👏
When adjusting the H screw at wide open throttle with no load on the saw, we should leave our mixture slightly on the rich side (lumpy). Because when the saw is engaged in cutting some wood it needs slightly more fuel and if we set the H screw perfectly at no load we will be slightly lean while under load and we risk engine damage from a too lean condition if there’s not that extra bit of fuel/oil mixture. Better a little lumpy than a little lean. Thank you.
Just now, I adjusted my ECHO CS 350WES carburator and I cannot do it well. I watch your teaching video and solve my problem. This is a very good channel. Thank you very much.
Perfect Clarity ! , totally understand these little marvels.... and the diagrams are on point , love that u included the sounds at the current diagram displays...thanks man, Awesome job, you definitely would make a great teacher...also what John C said is a contribute..thank you as well!
Amazing video, thanks! I appreciate the sound bites throughout your explanation as well as the diagrams. Extremely helpful. With your instruction, I fixed up a 2-stroke mantis tiller I found on the side of the road.
I've always gone back and adjusted the high and low screws a second time. Now that I've learned that both circuits send fuel simultaneously and affect one another, it seems I was justified in doing so. Thank you. I learn so much from you and am still learning some basic things.
yes the best explanation is to understand what the screws do so we can meter these screws in relation to the throttle... took me a while for the penny to drop ... thanks so much
Really learning from your clear explanations and excellent graphics. Well done. I'm only a recent subscriber so am going back through your previous videos. Great content. 👍
Best carb adjustment video I ever seen. Been having problems with my wood boss and can never get it right. Hope this information isn't lost in my head by the time I get to it lol
This video is by far the best I’ve found on carb tuning for 2-cycles. Maybe it’s chainsaw specific but I imagine weedwackers and others are set up this way. Your diagrams, demonstration footage and explanation of each symptom are fantastic! I will be tuning my chainsaw tomorrow using what I learned from this video. Thank you!
This is a fantastic video. I have always liked tinkering with small engines but is was really helpful to learn what each adjustment screw does instead of just guessing which one to try next.
WOW just come across your channel that video is the best I have ever seen, on explaining how the carburettor works and how to fix it well done to you 👏 👏 👍 😊😊
After watching this very well diagramed, and explained video, I can now see exactly how these carburetors work. I'm so impressed with your clear explanation. well worth watching.
Thanks for this learning video. I'm from the Philippines. I applied this learning and got my chainsaw already running. At first, i had a plan to bring it to the experienced mechanic. continue sharing your knowledge and God bless!
Thanks for the tutorial. These little carburetors are used to fly paramotors. They have to be cleaned and tuned perfectly to ensure reliability when flying. Appreciate you sharing this!
man, this was perfect. I've really struggled to understand exactly what those screws do. Between the great diagrams & examples of both good & bad running conditions was extremely helpful. Thanks!
Oh and by the way, your drawings and animations are awesome! They really help to understand the mechanics of a chainsaw carburetor and issues and solutions to poor runability of a chainsaw.
I just like to say your videos are very good. I have been working on small engines for over 40 years and your layout and explaining could not be better. Thank you sir keep up the great work :)~ Stay~Safe
Hey thank you so much for this. Amazing explanation. I recently started using chainsaws for firewood since power is so expensive and I had trouble with one that looks almost identical with the one on your video. It bogged a lot and you video helped me adjust it quite a bit. It works fine for a while and then it starts bogging down again when cutting. I feel like I have already opened the H screw quite a bit. I will try opening it more again I guess, it might need more fuel after a while while cutting. Thanks again, now after your video I actually understand exactly what I'm doing and what happens inside the carb when adjusting instead of just guesswork.
2 common causes not covered as per your description are puddling in crankcase getting cleared out and leaning out.. and # 2 hi ck valve rubber deteriorated and restricting fuel flo tru main jet leaving h screw fuel only. normally 1 1/2 - 2 turns is norm . some aftermarket carbs are made to cover many applications so main jet is small w adj screw larger so w no air leak 3-4 trns out may be norm. most other causes have been covered by excellet vid.
This is excellent for years I have known what screws to adjust on small engines but never really understood why. Now I do and whats more I could explain that to someone else now.
I just got this comment on one of my videos: "Unlike every other two stroke engine, chainsaws have but one fuel mixture adjustment: the L screw. The H screw does not alter the mixture at full throttle, it only controls maximum speed." I sent him a link to your video. Hope you can help him out. Stay well, Joe Z

Hello Craig. I have watched many many of your videos and have got a lot of knowledge from them. Thank you. I would like to know how to remove the brass main tube jet from the carburetor. Karl.
Usually not required. Most of these carbs have a locked in jet, not supposed to be removed, so best just buy a new carb. You can use paint gun cleaning tools to clean it, or oxy acetylene nozzle files but these can "open" the jet hole, unless that's what you want. To remove it you will probably destroy it... Screw a screw into the jet hole, try wiggling it out, but may need to dremel around it slightly to loosen it from the carb.

Fortunately my chain saw cuts air because it's actually a paramotor, that uses a chainsaw carburetor 😉
You're correct! It should be slightly 4 stroking and cleans up in the cut.
🎉
