System of a Down is still together... well kinda. They play together live all over the place (well before the pandemic), they just can't agree when it comes to making new music (sofar).
TheBluCorner when they announce an American show I’m pretty much throwing all my money at them.
It doesn't help the the drummer John is a HARDCORE Trump supporter. Kind of goes against what the group stands for.
@@BuddhaBless328 That has nothing to do with it. The band fully accept his political beliefs as he does theirs. The problem is purely musical differences between Serj and Daron. People need to stop making everything political. This country is divided enough because dumb shits cant accept that other people might see things differently. SOAD understands that.
@@BuddhaBless328 Uhm, no.. John's a conservative.. That doesn't necessarily mean that he's a Trump supporter, it just so happens that the Republican president of the day is Trump. You can still be conservative and play music about not supporting asshole governments invading other countries, comitting acts of extreme violence and genocide.
Plus, he's Serj's brother-in-law so... If Serj and John can be family, then your argument is mega invalid, sorry :/
It's a well-known fact that the issue of SOAD having no new music lies between Serj and Daron. They're nice, but also two mega drama queens.

Ztygs Yeah I knew that Serj is/was the singer of SOAD, that’s the main reason I suggested it.
Serj has his own solo career that is just as impressive as System of a Down! My husband's recommendation for a great starting point is Lie Lie Lie (there's an official video as well as live recordings!).

This is definitely one of my favorite SoaD songs and I think it's also one of their more spiritual and abstract.

Remember SOAD well, they were my sons’ favorite band (along with Slipknot) back when he was a teenager
They're still my two favourite bands and Metallica and I'm 32 years old...long live alternative metal.

They're still touring together just not making new music, because they can't agree on how to proceed - artistic differences. It's kind of a strange situation for a band to be in I suppose, but it says a lot about them that they're still such good friends and respect each other, handling it professionally and like adults, still enjoying performing together. I was due to see them play at Download Festival here in the UK (for the second time) this year, but it's all been pushed back to next Summer. They're still on the bill, so hopefully, if we can finally kick this virus up the ass, I'll be seeing them play in June.

the guy who does backup vocals and guitar deserves some credit too, he really seems to have a blast doing these videos with Serj and i always like that.
The name of the guitarist is Darron Malakian, he also made his own music after System called Scars on Broadway. I highly recommend you check it out!

The overall theme of the song is our mistaken views of ourselves as being individual and isolated from the rest - mankind and other lifeforms - and how we actually are a tiny part of something greater, from which we come from when we are born, and to which we go when we die. It speaks of clinging to life and not accepting death, cause we see death as an ending, not as another step of existence. When we die, our matter is decomposed and is transferred to things like worms that feed on us, to the atmosphere in the form of gas, and to the ground and plants that feed on us. We are always moving through the cycle of existence, there is no stillness, only movement and transformation.

I saw a comment one time; (rough quote) “System of a Down is like 16 year old ex girlfriend that just lost virginity.” There is meaning to that. They’re a mixed ball of strong emotion and feeling. They go from straight chaos, to beautiful melodies then back to some hardcore metal within the length of a 3 minute song.
