That's what makes SOD good. They are unashamedly Americans, who happen to have come from somewhere else. But they are clearly, openly, AMEROCAN in their celebration of their heritage. It's not division, it's unity, sharing their heritage, not claiming it as a badge of victimhood or difference, but as just a natural part of themselves. As it should be. It's never forced or artificial. It's natural, artful, creative, and beautiful.

The band has a lot of Armenian ties and I think that often comes through in some of their musical ornamentation and vocal runs.
There are VERY few bad SOAD songs. Toxicity and Chop Suey are probably their most popular songs and definitely worth a listen. If you want a more vocal-focused song then questions or spiders are good examples, or lonely day is a good examples of Daron (who normally does the "backing" vocals),

I didn't know that Andy Wallace mixed this, but it makes perfect sense. One of the best mixers ever. Contemporary metal mixers could learn so much from the way this was engineered, mixed, and mastered. So many contemporary metal mixes are completely lifeless. Not only are the vocals edited to death and the drums super fake sounding because of the samples, but then the whole thing is slammed into a brick wall limiter until there are no dynamics.

I love how you, and The Charismatic Voice get so excited by music! I must admit I am not a big music person. It is usually just background for me, but I do appreciate good music. The older I get the more I appreciate it though.

Thank you very much for this video. I have been enjoying your reactions a lot. You are so passionate - it is just a pleasure to watch!
As I little metal head I love that you have reacted to quite some metal bands yet (Queensryche was prob my favorite because it felt like you had an eargasm ^^).
I would love to see you react to Ayreaon - the day that the world breaks down - This one has been quite popular for reaction videos for a reason. You will def enjoy it.
I also recommend Opeth - Reverie (Progressive Metal), Cult of Luna - A Greater Call (Sludge - might be a bit long for a reaction video but this song is so amazing) and Alcest - Sapphire (Blackgaze).

I really enjoyed this video. You have such a fun and charming way of explaining your thoughts, and a lot of interesting things to say! And SOAD is one of the most fascinating bands of all time. Obviously Serj steals the show with his phenomenal and unique voice, but everything else about them is really extraordinary as well. They get lumped in as "metal" (and they definitely do fit into the genre) but there is so much artistry in their music that they really defy genre labels and just have their own inimitable sound. Please do every one of their songs!

05:00 Good catch, they are all of Armenian descent and wanted to include influences of their heritage and culture in their music, for example that's a sitar that you caught towards the end of the song.

it's amazing how much you can pull from a song...such a great understanding of elements that are likely overlooked...
I think I've mentioned this before but a great series would be bands / artists reacting to your reactions because you're at the top of your game dearie... ;q)

I love her! She get's it! She get's it and then some! She has explained in a detailed fashion, the small reason's why I love this song. Some reasons that I am cognizant of and some that I am not. Brilliant! To teach someone why they love something.

The sad thing is, there's probably at LEAST three more SOAD's that have gotten past the BS to get in front of some record exec, and been turned away.
God I HATE the labels. Just imagine how much actual ART and music we've missed out because of the clowns in charge who wouldn't give SOAD the time of DAY if they were trying to break out today.

I've watched about 4 of your videos now over the last couple hours, and then I immediately searched for your TOOL reacts and was overjoyed that you love tool as much as the rest of us. Now, I'm NOT going to say that you are the best vocal reaction youtuber out there, or that you bring an analysis to this genre of youtubers that has never been seen before in such depth, analytical accuracy, and emotional understanding. I'm also NOT going to say that you display and share your joy of music in a way that is intoxicating and free, or any of that bollox. But what I will say is that I could watch and listen to you do this for a very, very long time. But not in a creepy way. Or maybe it is...

Good news: a new video😊! I love your reactions, especially to rock and metal bands. Please more! You always make me see the songs differently and this is super interresting. Can you reakt to Seether or Marolin Manson? They are rock/metal artists with great covers of popular songs.

You should definitely react to and/or analyse more SoaD.
One thing that puts them in a league of their own is their harmonies, which are very much based in the Armenian background of all the band members. I don't think there is any other band in the world that has managed to blend their cultural heritage with popular music genres in the way SoaD jumped into the public eye and stayed there, even though the band has a limited amount of albums and sometimes isn't heard of for years. The 'magical' harmonies and sheer quality of music production has made them nothing less than legendary. I yet have to see them live, which I'm afraid will never happen, because it's near impossible for mere mortals to get tickets to the very few shows they do (if they still do, I'm not sure).

This album is incredible. I've seen SOAD live a few times and they're fantastic, never failing to deliver. And yes, live, they hit the notes! I also saw Serj (the lead singer) touring his solo work when he supported the Foo Fighters in Manchester in 2007. This song still puts the hairs up on the back of my neck! I'm gobsmacked you've never heard it but absolutely loved your reactions to it! Also, I found the explanations of how and why they do things very interesting. I shall be watching more videos!!!!

Thanks for your great reaction and brake down of this song. I really love this song and come back time and again. About the video: i always felt that they ladies are more his keepers than anything else. Yes the never look at him, but the also guide him and their hands are placed in a very possessive way. All the glamour and glitter feels like walls that confine the boy. For all the others he is the Golden Goose, not a feeling being in his own right. The circus (the place of "clowns" and "freaks" - the contraries) is where he finally is at peace and can rest, left alone at last.
At least that is my take on this element of the video. I also like, that you chose the Video Version as i think Visuals, Text and Sound here create a poetic symphony.

This is the first video I see from you, but I loved your reaction! Very good insights, I'd love to hear more.
I'd like to suggest a reaction to the italian band Måneskin (they have plenty of songs in English too). The singer, Damiano David, recently revealed in an interview that he has a congenital malformation in the vocal cords that causes them to never touch, producing a naturally raspy sound that sounds like a distortion/growl. I haven't seen any actual vocal coaches talking about it, and I'd love to understand more, if you're interested!

Definitely more SOAD please and thank you! I've listened to their albums many 100's of times and somehow they always grab your mind in a "let's take a journey" feeling. As others have mentioned, Chop Suey and Toxicity are very worth the listen, watch and analysis. Hope you're having a wonderful evening.
