The original video for Du Hast was what drew me in....25 years ago. I heard it one time and went out the next day to get the CD. I have bought all their CDs. Yes. Some songs are in English (America and others). As a fan, I recently saw them in concert in Massachusetts. It was a Bucket List item to ✓ off. I have never had the opportunity to see them, it was the craziest thing I have done in a long time. It was absolutely worth every penny I spent. I was hoarse, near stone deaf, exhausted and literally a little cooked on my left side from blasting fire pillars and even from the stage... and I was nowhere NEAR the stage. The coolest thing to see was other fans (married couples even) of an *advanced age* in attendance so it was awesome to see I wasn't the only one. The lead singer, Till Lindemann just turned 60. So they are our age. I would love to see you react to their recent videos. Deutschland, Radio, Zeit (Time), Adieu and Angst. You will be blown away.
Yes, the lead singer Till Lindemann, speaks multiple languages fluently. They have songs in English, French, Russian and even in Spanish. I've been a fan of Rammstein since I was a child.
I was in the Navy and got to see them in Germany in 95 when the band was not known in the states yet. I'll tell you this, didn't matter that I know NO German...I cam out of that show with their CD and KNOWING they were gonna be a big deal!!
"i just cant imagine myself in front of that many people captivating their interest like that" she says forgetting that 67k people are subscribed to them and 3,800 have watched her say that so far :D great reaction ladies :)
I saw them years ago 2010(?) and was at the front of the pit, I felt a little crispy by the end of the show. And then I wanted to burn everything to the ground after the show was over hahaha. So sad that this year's tour was rescheduled, I have Feuerzone tickets for when the rescheduled show happens, I cant wait.
Rammstein has probably the best live show in the world .... you two lovely ladies have to check out their loive performance for the song "Mein Teil" - absolutely mind blowing
Rumor has it that when Rammstein came out they had to decide whether they were going to do their songs in English (to appeal to a broader audience) or German. They knew they COULD do their songs in English, but they wanted to remain true to themselves. So they recorded their songs in German. Obviously, they blew up internationally. Their songs have been translated into many languages and that speaks to their popularity. Thank you both so much for reacting to this song!!
neat fact, the singer of Rammstein, Till Lindemann actually has severe stage fright and usually focuses on something way in the back of the venue as to not get too focused on how large the crowd is.
Actually, he still very much has it. The reason he does the pyrotechnics and stuff during shows now is to distract himself from it all. He says as much in interviews.
I am German and I have to laugh sooo much about your comment! It's sooo true haha falkes skills are awesome! HE is awesome! But your comment is really funny!
I've fairly old and only recently discovered Rammstein and they are rapidly becoming my all time favourite band - They are absolutely amazing. I'm even learning some of their songs on the piano.
One of their best known songs is 'Engel', and they did do a English version of that. The lightning fingers on that video were added post, but apart from that everything was 'live'.
Thank you very much for this lovely reaction, ladies! The lead-singer Till Lindemann is also a grandpa to his teenage grandson, so you have something in common with him! As to suggestion of another song by Rammstein they sing almost only in German. They tried to make some songs in English at the beginning of their international carrier, but they decided that the result was not convincing, that they lost themselves somewhere in the translation and that only the sound of the German language fits impeccably to their music both phonetically and poetically and that only in German they can comfortably play with words and meanings. So, even if you can find some English lines in some of Rammstein’s songs or some songs entirely in English in the side-projects of two band members outside Rammstein, the real Rammstein is in German. And Stripped is a cover, not really Rammstein’s song. I would absolutely suggest to continue with Sonne from Rock am Ring 2010 ua-cam.com/video/FZryTEMFrM4/v-deo.html Exactly this one and not more recent version from 2017, because in the latter Sonne was the last song on their set and the singer’s voice was a little bit to tired to give all the credit to this incredibly beautiful song. So, please, better try that one from 2010 to listen it in all ist glory! Absolutely worth to check out are Engel, Ich tuh dir weh or even Weisses Fleisch from Maddison Square in New York in 2010. If you’d be interested to see and to hear how these boys sounded and looked a little bit younger, I would suggest Seemann ua-cam.com/video/KwCyTSmZmtY/v-deo.html or here form 18:29 ua-cam.com/video/Y1ybRMZMuj8/v-deo.html See you soon!
I first saw this band in the late-1990s or early-2000s at the Glasgow SECC. Still one of the greatest gigs I've ever attended. They almost burned the place down. You could feel the fire. It was immense.
I've been 2 time so far to see Rammstein, and one of the time I was about 20 meter away from the stage and the heat from those flames are crazy, also have my Rammstein flag's been autographed by all band members.
I also love this song, but I think you can't upload reactions on their music videos. It would become striked. They can only react on the live shows (which are great too).
I love you ladies finally I see there's woman my age and older that cal appreciate the same music I do. Hell we've lived through the best and worst of rock n roll. Of course we know what we like. Everyone wants to put us in a box. Fuck that box we smash that box. No boundaries we still want our music raw and hardcore! I love you keep em coming ladies 💗

@@justinbridgman2364 It actually means 'You have' in this context. In German, 'you have' and 'you hate' sound the same, which one depends on the context in which it's used. In this case, the lyrics of the song are a play on wedding vows, so the correct translation is 'you have'. The English version of the song Rammstein did isn't an accurate translation; the lyrics were reworked probably to make it rhyme in English, which it wouldn't if it was a literal translation of the German lyrics.
Rammstein have been around for a while, this is their most iconic song, but far from my favorite. Their song "Amerika" exists as a partially English version. Aside from that, vocalist Till Lindemann formed a band with some swedes a few years back, and those songs are in English. However, fair warning about the lyrical content..!
Lol, I love Lindemann, but I don't think it's possible to give a "fair warning" about those lyrics. Till's sense of humor is darker than the center of a black hole. Also, the raunchiest songs have the catchiest pick-ups, so they're the ones that get stuck in your head.
Hey grannies, what a wonderful reaction. ❤ Rammstein are performing a coverversion from Depeche Mode "Stripped" this is totally in english. Greetings from Germany.
MOAR Rammstein! (Not their music videos tho as they tend to copyright claim people for doing that) Live videos are fine. Also they do german stuff MOST OF THE TIME but Till (the singer) has a sideproject called "Lindemann"(Which is his surname) and the first record (Skills in Pills) has english lyrics.
Rammstein also has a song in English like "Stripped" and a version of "Du hast" ("You hate") and a version of "Engel" (English version). "Amerika" also has some English in her lyrics.
@@michaelscheetz9069 I know, i know, It's common for their songs to play with the ambiguity of the lyrics. But the song in English was titled "You hate".
"I just can't picture myself in front of that many people captivating their interest like that" Well.... Let me tell you something about UA-cam... :P Lovely video!!!
Let me remind all of you that was in Paris, France and the crowd was chanting the lyrics in German. Similarly Rammstein performs in many other countries and their audience sings along. Edit: added "all" because it was not meant personally ;)
LOL. Talking about the guy on the treadmill, "well that's different". Yes, everything about the guy on the treadmill is different. He is a bit of a character. Love you two
When you said along the lines that you couldn't imagine yourself in front of all those people entertaining them, well just look at your almost 70K subs ladies, you're doing something right! I for one love your videos and your amazing, positive vibes, keep it up!
Greetings English speakers. To pronounce Rammstein, say "rum", as in the drink (perhaps more of a "romm" if you're American) and "sh-tine", rhymes with wine. Rumm-shtine.
Yes the chorus and the bridge are in English. The chorus is “We’re all living in America. America is wunderbar. We’re all living in America, America.” The last two times they do the chorus, they change it slightly by saying, “Coca Cola, wonder bra”, then “Coca Cola, sometimes war”. Then the bridge is Rasmus’ comment.
Till is very able in other languages, like "moskau" on the same album as "amerika" with russian, Or one of my favorites "te quiero puta" with Spanish i beleive Más más más por favor Más más más sí sí señor
Aren't they fantastic? So glad you like them. I really recommend a song called "Mutter". There's no english singing that I know of. But with that powerful deep rock and his hard baritone voice, it doesn't matter. Now we've had rammstien, you're my favourite grannies. Thank you so much. God bless you.
They have a few songs in English. They actually started as a English singing band. But usually the songs with English are only half English or just a alternative version with almost completely different lyrics
Thank you Ladies. I would like to recommend "Rammstein - Engel" live in Hurrican Festival 2016 or Madison Square Garden. Both is available on their UA-cam Channel. Watch it - the visuals are stunning. A true eye candy.
Till is an olympic lvl swimmer, which is why he's so built: and he's also a legit licensed pyrotechnic which is why all the shows are littered with fire.
and it gets really hot. like at sometimes really uncomfortably hot. i felt like a had no exebrows left after the show. but hey thats the side effect of those 5 meter high flamethrowers 10m away from you
''Engel'' live at Madison Square Garden is also amazing ! Most of their songs are in german of course. There is one in russian, one in espanol, one half-french, half-german... 4-5 are in english but they are most of the time weird tentatives to tranlate their songs so those versions are not really appreciated. And that is way better that way, in my opinion. Thanks for this video and I hope you enjoyed !
"Du hast" means "you've got..." but it also means "you hate". And "du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt" is "you asked me and I didn't answer". "Willst du, bist der Tod euch scheidet, treu sein?" is "Will stand by her/him till death do you part?" It is answered with a yes and a no(the "NEIN!" at the end) .

The most intruiging part about Rammstein are the double meaning in their words, but thats always hard for non natives or people who dont speak german at all. In this song the double meaning is in the chorus, because the words "du hast" = you have and "du hasst" = you hate sound exactly the same in german. So its always good to have the text open. As far as english goes, There are the songs America, Pussy, Stripped There are also sites that dedicate themself to translate the texts but its all about the double meaning of words or phrases so its hard to translate.
Should also be mentioned that after starting the chorus with that double meaning question of "you have/you hate me" into reciting the classic wedding speech of a pastor "will you love her till death sets you apart...etc..."
Hey Rocking Grannies! :) Have been watching your channel for some days now, and I really enjoy your genuine curiosity in music a lot! Of course, as a German metal fan, I had to watch this one. The title translates to 'You have (got)', but there is an auditive pun about it: In German, just saying 'Du hast' (without any written form or additional context) could also mean 'you hate', which would actually be spelled 'du hasst' then. Pronunciation-wise, it sounds the same as 'du hast'. It really works for a great ambiguity in the lyrics! I'm usually not one to directly promote myself in the comments on UA-cam, but in this case, I'm gonna make an exception (hope it's okay! If not, feel free to delete my comment, no worries!): If you ever wanna find out more about Rammstein lyrics, what they mean translated to English and what makes them great linguistically speaking, feel free to check out my various Rammstein-related explanation videos. Here's the one for 'Du hast': ua-cam.com/video/E4bkcZOD3uc/v-deo.html Again: Keep on rocking, It's always fun to watch someone listening to your favorite music for the first time, and seeing you enjoying little details is a nice thing. Cheers from Germany! - Dave
Also, if I’m not mistake , the chorus is essentially wedding vows to which the reply is “Nein” (No, in English). This is also a further push of the play on words of have/hate.
probably not a warning, but a conclusion; I absolutely love the expressions on their faces while they hold stray dog puppies, born by the black, dark-haired lady
They’ve only done a few songs in English, like Pussy, but the lead singer- Till Lindemann’s first solo album is in English. It’s called Skills in Pills.
cannot really do a reaction to "Pussy" as the video is hardcore porn. + the delux edition of "Liebe ist Fur Alle Da" came in a clamshell box with 5 pink dildos in it.
Apparently it gets so hot on stage plastic water bottles start melting. They always perform in German, that's one reason it is a surprise that they did so well in the USA.
The fun part to me is the meaning of the word 'hast'. He's saying 'du hast', which is 'you have' (as in you've asked me, wedding vows and all that) but if you say 'du hasst', which is pronounced exactly the same, he is singing 'you hate me'. Till is a great lyricist. So basically he refused to be loyal because actually, she hates him ;) At least, that is my interpretation.
I am 48 years old, I knew Rammstein through the movie "Lost Highway" from David Lynch (who loves their music) in 1997 or so. You have a lot to catch up about them and I hope you review more about them. Love you, subscribed!
@Steven Bristol I can't say I'm such a huge fan, but definitely Lynch is the closest to my twisted mind. My favorite music from him is that song with Lykke Li.... I watched Lost Highway in 1998 or so, in vhs, by that time you could rent it, I have two streaming services (also struggling with money) but it seems not being released yet :'( Try to find the soundtrack, at its time it was available in CD but now it must be on the net somewhere. It has a couple of songs from Rammstein of course , Marilyn Manson, David Bowie... Hope you find it!
@Steven Bristol Oh, I forgot, Lynch and that movie were responsible of Rammstein promotion outside Germany, the movie was an important point in Rammstein career, after that they got worlwide recognition :)
@Steven Bristol Well, I'm not a good fan because I don't know everything about him, but definitely like him very much, he has a way to see the world that I share the most. And you are right about Rammstein, they got a lot of help getting known outside Germany. Everything Lynch creates us so original. In Lost Highway one character says he doesn't have pictures on his walls because he doesn't like to remember things exactly as they were, I think that's what happens to me about life in general and Lynch work in particular. He is really good at the unexpected 👀
@Steven Bristol Well, Lynch is a painter in his core. He depict things, the unfathomable, things and feelings you can't speak of, things that are easier to (at least try) to show by image. It's easy that people missunderstand him to say the least.
I loved them since they were released in America. I saw them in concert a few times, the first time I was in the front row. The fire was so hot it felt like it was melting my face off so I went back a ways. Then I could see better and keep my eyebrows. They are awesome. Just discovered your channel today. Also, their videos and instruments are other worldly! I'd LOVE to see your reaction to The HU!

Yes but... that was only during the debut... which is nearly 25 years ago.. not anymore
Actually, he still very much has it. The reason he does the pyrotechnics and stuff during shows now is to distract himself from it all. He says as much in interviews.

I would absolutely suggest to continue with Sonne from Rock am Ring 2010 ua-cam.com/video/FZryTEMFrM4/v-deo.html
Exactly this one and not more recent version from 2017, because in the latter Sonne was the last song on their set and the singer’s voice was a little bit to tired to give all the credit to this incredibly beautiful song. So, please, better try that one from 2010 to listen it in all ist glory!
Absolutely worth to check out are Engel, Ich tuh dir weh or even Weisses Fleisch from Maddison Square in New York in 2010.

Most is in German they have this song with partial English lyrics the words to this song -du hast -means, you hate ,
@@justinbridgman2364 It actually means 'You have' in this context.

As far as english goes, There are the songs America, Pussy, Stripped
There are also sites that dedicate themself to translate the texts but its all about the double meaning of words or phrases so its hard to translate.
Should also be mentioned that after starting the chorus with that double meaning question of "you have/you hate me" into reciting the classic wedding speech of a pastor "will you love her till death sets you apart...etc..."

Hey Rocking Grannies! :)
Have been watching your channel for some days now, and I really enjoy your genuine curiosity in music a lot!
Here's the one for 'Du hast': ua-cam.com/video/E4bkcZOD3uc/v-deo.html
Again: Keep on rocking, It's always fun to watch someone listening to your favorite music for the first time, and seeing you enjoying little details is a nice thing.
Cheers from Germany!

@VlogDave cool to see you around here, can you give the lady’s some history and lyrics from Deutschland?!?!?!?! Bitte?!?!?😁😁😁
Also, if I’m not mistake , the chorus is essentially wedding vows to which the reply is “Nein” (No, in English). This is also a further push of the play on words of have/hate.
Hi ,noch jemand aus Deutschland xD

cannot really do a reaction to "Pussy" as the video is hardcore porn.
I think you'd like "Mein hertz brennt" by them as well! ❤🔥
Legend has it Flake is still walking on that treadmill.
@Steven Bristol No problem. Nothing worse than having to be quiet if you have something to say

Also, their videos and instruments are other worldly! I'd LOVE to see your reaction to The HU!
"Rammstein Bück Dich Live Montreal 2012" would be a great song to see you react to!
I’ve always liked Rammstein and I went to see them, personally I’d say I’m a Norwegian black metal fan overall, but I still swear that Rammstein was one of the best bands I’ve ever seen, alongside cradle of filth and Dimmu Borgir!
2RG: That's different...
RAMMS+EIN: Different is our normal
RAMMS+EIN's idea of making music is to shock the heck out of you (on stage)! Shock value is their main selling point, in real life though, those guys are the sweetest, funniest and most honest guys out there. Just have a look at their 'making off' movies or interviews and you'll see how truly cool and funny they are in real life. Have been a fan since the mid 90's and hope you will enjoy them as much as I do. Rock on 2RG and discover all the metal treasures out there!
The shock effect and fire on stage was created partially to keep non German speaking audiences interested.
When listening to Rammstein and watching live videos, you should proceed cautiously step by step.
For beginners: Du Hast, Ich Will
the next step: Sonne, Amerika, Engel..
for experienced: Mein Teil, Feuer Frei...
only for very experienced Rammstein listeners: Bück Dich.
P***y falls under the experienced level too lol.
You forgot the beautiful Mann gegen mann
Omg yes Rammstein ♥ please do more of their live stuff :3
I got to see Rammstein up close and personal in the late 90's and it remains one of the best shows I've ever been to.
"I just can't imagine myself in front of that many people, captivating them like that>"
