When she said she has anxiety it was like a weight off my shoulders. It's good to know that someone with anxiety can work a normal job. I'm still worried about how I will react if there are stressful situations but I really need to get my own money. I'm thinking about applying to target and this really helped me alot
Well if someone with anxiety can't do it, there is no hope for me so relief. I literally stutter and my ADHD is insane. I start my first day as cashier tomorrow and I already hate the color red 🤣
Today was my first day of training. They were so low on cashiers that they basically gave me a brief preview of how to use the register and after that, I was on my own for 4 hours. The guests are really nice. They helped me out quite a bit haha
I just got hired at target today, and I wanted to say thank you so much! It was my first job interview ever and your video helped me know what to expect. :)
I just got the job!! The director was super nice. He was very happy and impressed that I brought my resume and it was printed on resume paper, so make sure to do that as well! His questions mainly revolved around what I thought being a good retail worker would be and if I had any questions for him. I was a little nervous and couldn't think of great questions but I came up with a few. So maybe plan ahead wht questions to ask. Just be friendly and smiley. Interview lasted for about 25 minutes and he told me I got the job. Didnt have a second interview
i almost didnt go to my interview because of my anxiety but i ended up going i did great and i got the job, my first day tomorrow im really scared because im a slow learned and i get very anxious and i cant think straight because of that.
@@JustME-rw7yo Hi, I just got the offer to work as a cashier and the orientation is this Friday. I am too scared and I learn a bit slow too. So, almost in the same position like you were. How did that go? Any tips for first timers?
wow thank you ! I just got a job at target as cashier two days ago and my orientation is Aug 22 and I'm super nervous ! I am a fast learner but under pressure its hard to really focus plus I have anxiety. any more tips or information you have would be fantastic. thank you :]
My biggest tip is breathing. I know it sounds dumb and cliche, but it helps me so much to breathe while reminding myself that everything is temporary. This feeling will pass. This day will pass. Even this job will pass. I know it's hard, but don't put too much pressure on yourself to be perfect. I made so many mistakes when I first started and I beat myself up about them every time. Eventually, I realized that these small mistakes will be forgotten and in the grand scheme of my life, they won't matter in the slightest. It's also good to remind yourself why you're there. For me, I think about writing and how I have to have this job to pay for living while I work my way into the writing industry. Don't forget that there will always be help there. Target is really good about keeping managers and coworkers around, so if you need anything help is right there. I hope this helped!
Thank You so much for this vid. My interview was today and I was hired. I was so nervous until stumbling on this vid. Afterwards I just researched their Interview questions and more about the company. I was only interview once and got the job.
Update. I’m in softlines so yesterday was ok just putting things away. Today i was on the register. It was so scary. I felt so bad for messing up and having to flick my light on. I was so lucky most transactions were redcard, debit, or credit. I rarely had to give change. I felt so bad when a lady asked for a gift receipt and i didn’t hear her so a processed the total and she had this look her face. Bagging stuff was so awkward and the whole time the stupid divider thing kept falling and almost tripping me. I haven’t sold a redcard yet Though. Today was so busy with everyone prepping for the hurricane. Im back in softlines Thursday. I hope that goes well.
Nakita Maragh it is super scary at first. It will get better and easier! Just remember if you accidentally forget to do something, send them to guest service. I used to work over there and we’d be able to fix pretty much any issue that could come up!

Les Dee thank you I hope so!! I at least got some experience with a cash register now if I go apply somewhere with a modern cash register I’ll be ready
Rosie Yvette Martinez same shit happened to me at chipotle. They had me go in for an hour training and make one burrito then I worked an entire week ONLY during rush hours. 12-5 and I served probably 200 people a day with no hell. No restroom break or 10 min break and most days my gloves were burnt through and my hands were all red and people would look but I couldn’t take a break Bc it’s in Los Angeles so it’s super busy. Thank you so much for this I have an interview tomorrow and you made me feel like I can do this :) I have anxiety but you helped me to be at ease as much as possible wish me luck :)
This helped a ton! This may sound dumb but I have bad anxiety too and I was wondering if it's hard to get used to scanning items and if it's hard to bag stuff. Did you ask for help a lot ?
It's not dumb at all! I used to get all clumsy and my hands would shake. It just took a lot of practice. I didn't really ask for help just because I felt dumb too. When bagging things, you have like 3-4 slots that you can put things into, so it gives you a lot more time to decide where to put things. For example, if you weren't sure what to bag something with, just put it in a slot, and keep going. It'll give you more time to make decisions like that. I know it's a small thing, but it went a long way for me!
I'm starting work at Dollar General, but my hope is that this will be giving me helpful hints for my Orientation tomorrow, thank you so much for this video!
THANK U FOR THIS VIDEO 😭 I just started today and I was laughing so much because today was my first training day and my trainer had me on my register on my own and he was shadowing me like 90% of my shift and bagging things!!!! Omg!!! THE BAGS KEPT GETTING STUCK TOGETHER HAHAHAHA IT WAS SO HETIC BECAUSE U KNO THEY R STARING AT U LOL
Hey I just started following your channel. You are awesome and a very good speaker. I just got hired as a cashier for seasonal for the holidays and watching your video makes me confident
I just got hired yesterday as a target cashier. This is my first job ever as I’ve only been 16 years old for 2 and a half months. I actually think I’m going to love being a cashier because talking to people really is my thing. I’m just worried about those red cards. It’s nearly required for me to keep my job to sell at least 1 red card per shift. I’m happy about the job I got but that part with the red cards is just really nerve-racking. I work at a target where it’s very, very popular. Many guests walk in that door so that’s something that I find helpful. Overall it seems like an amazing first job, especially for a 16 year old. I’m this young and I’m a cashier at a popular target and I get payed $12.50/hour. I feel so lucky to have been given this opportunity and I really don’t want to mess up because of those red cards. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)
Flamixng x you’re required to sell one per shift?! Something that I always asked when they were about to pay is “are you going to be paying with your red card today?” If they said no, I would ask if they were interested. Sometimes, someone would come up and immediately ask about the red card. Those were the easy ones to sell. My suggestion is to be kind of low key about it because I noticed that people got more irritated when I tried to sell it hardcore. Just do your best. That’s all you can do!
KingdomOfRachel yeah that seems about the best way to do it. Kind of sneak the red card in lol. But thanks so much! The video and advice was very insightful. I have friends anyway who can back me up if I’m still in need towards the end of a shift. :P anyways, thanks again!
I got hired for fufillment myself expecting lots of hours at least 30 but Human Resources at Target I applied for and gave me 16 hours each week and the job is not hard but I ended up finding a better job full time as a messenger courier :) The management is run by some girls that can even clean their bottoms. If you guys like the job then go ahead and work their while you finish school
Thank you for posting it was very informative and I also have anxiety so many of the things you talked about were relatable, I start on Friday :) thank you!! 😄
i got hired as a cashier today but the thing that scared me the most are those Red Cards, what if i dont sell some? Target seems to be obsessed with selling those..any tips?
AiraSings I only asked if I felt like the customer would be interested. Some people come in and want to leave as quickly as possible without being bothered with things like that. Whenever I found a customer that I thought might be interested, I would ask “are you paying with your red card today?” And if they said no, I would ask them if they would like to hear more about it. If they said no again, then I would drop it and try the next customer. I got about 10-15 red cards in the 6 month span of time I worked there. My biggest tip is to not be too hard on yourself. Depending on where you live and the day, red cards can be very scarce. Keep trying though!
When I worked at target several years ago, they really pressured me into signing up customers for the red cards. Too much that I quit. They would lecture me everyday about it.
I literally had a panic attack during the orientation. They threw so much info on us, I seriously don't know how long I will stay. All these things to memorize, learn, and so many details! I am overwhelmed.
Sylvia Delis I was in the same exact situation. I was incredibly anxious and stressed. Just try to remember that no one expects you to get everything right away! Help is always there and if you aren’t sure about something, ask your manager. That’s what they’re there for. You got this!
Question if you mess up and press the wrong buttons moving too fast do they have a calculator or can you use your phone cause my anxiety gets in the way so i avoid mental math
Hi again! I have another question, are you able to eat anytime during the Target orientation? Because I'm debating on whether or not to bring my lunch to eat there. And how long after my orientation will I start working? I wasn't sure if it would be the next day, or the next week?
Rylee Miller it completely depends. Bring food just in case! My orientation was quick and then I was released to go home. I didn’t start work until the next week. My friend on the other hand, had orientation and immediately jumped into cashier training. She was then scheduled for the next day. It depends on how desperate they are for people and what the supervisor wants. I got the job a year ago from June. My friend got it last month so it depends on the store and they’re current needs. 😀
That's awesome! Yes, we get a 32 lunch break. It sounds super weird, I know. Basically if we clock in under 30 minutes, we hit compliance which from what I hear, isn't a good thing, lol, so they make us take 32 minutes just to be safe.
Kicks rUs They didn’t have any problem with that at the Target I worked at. In fact, they were glad to have employees that could help customers who couldn’t speak English!
I had an interview at target last week and they just sent me a rejection email today. I am very disappointed because I really wanted to work there. I don't know why I was rejected.
Brian B If you want to be a cashier you will find a better paying cashier position than Target. Don't take it to the heart because you will find something better
Reapply! There is many new Targets around and new TargetExpress shops. I think you'd have an awesome chance at Target Express. Do you have any idea why they rejected you? How does your schedule look like?
They told me to wear red and khakis like the typical target uniform, but I'm seeing a lot of people say regular clothes. Weird. I go to my orientation Sunday, hope I didn't hear it wrong.
So I was just wondering does the cash register tell you how much change to give the customer when the pay with cash? I get super nervous and I don't want to give the wrong change back. Also you mentioned checks, so how often does that happen? One last thing is do you have to weigh some produce, and if so how does that work? Thanks so much for this video! It really helped calm me down. (Also I love your tattoo on your wrist)
The register will tell you exactly what change to give. The number pops up on the screen when the register comes open! As far as checks, I only got about 2 or 3 checks in a day. Sometimes I wouldn't get any in a day. It just depends, but overall, I didn't get very many. So with the produce, at least at my Target, we didn't weigh any of it. Every piece of produce has a number on it. If the number isn't physically there, there is a little cheat sheet by the register that has all of the numbers for all of the produce on it. You just type in that number and the register will ask you "how many?" then you just type in how many of that kind of produce there is, and you're done! I hope that helps!!
First of all, thank you so much for making this video, it definitely eased my anxiety. I know every store is going to be different, but if I applied for softlines and a beauty team member, could they still make me work the register? I know its probably easy, but thinking about working the registers just gives me anxiety! Thanks :)
Caitlin Hicks Everyone in the store has a minimum of one day of training on the register just in case they need back up to the front during the really busy times. I feel you 100% on the anxiety! After an hour or two, it becomes second nature and people are always around if you have questions.
@KingdomOfRachel I'm a very anxious person but I feel much better after watching your video. I'm glad that I am not the only one that is this way lol you just made me and I'm pretty sure many more feel better
I just had my first interview yesterday with the store manager and i felt like it went well he just mentioned since they still need 2 more days of interviews to expect an email within 5-7 days or if not to call the store in so anxious I really want to work at target applied for cashier for the season
Eduardo Bracamontes I'm so glad it went well! With all of the hiring they're doing right now, the likelihood of you being hired is very high. Good luck!!
I just started at Target in Charlotte NC Am 67 yo. Was a wreck but everyone is awesome in our store! Your videos totally helped me out. Only thing I'm stuck on is when a customer is paying using their card and then has a gift card they want to use, I'm feeling confused. Any tips? Thanks!
Hey my interview is on Monday and I’m really anxious about it because of my bad English. My English is not good so I’m really worried about how I’m gonna talk to them. But I’ve mentioned it in my application that I’m beginner in English. Do you think that I’m gonna get this cashier job?
Hafsa Noor I think that being bilingual will actually help you. When I worked at target, there were several people who didn’t speak very good English but were able to communicate with customers that didn’t either. It helps to have people that can speak multiple languages!
Tanishala Bryant Honestly, I’m not sure. It’s been over a year and a half since I’ve worked there. I know Target has changed a little bit, so maybe they changed the assessment.
I have orientation in an hour. I'm so nervous. I have worked at 2 grocery stores before and learned the register pretty fast so I'm not too worried just nervous
I had my interviews at target two days ago and they asked if I accepted their offer (which I took to mean I’m hired, right?) and was told I would be called and told I would get a call about the details for orientation (tomorrow) and I still haven’t been called. So should I call and ask about it because I was told nothing about the orientation except that I need to bring forms of ID
say if you have school at 8am do you have to miss a school day to go to the orientation?? or do you just tell them that you have school that day and they’ll reschedule??? OR will they give you a list of days/times to come to orientation??? PLEASE ANSWER
happy gal Definitely tell them! They were super good about scheduling around school when I worked there. They should let you know your choices for orientation times so just choose whichever works the best.
Great video! I had a question. I wanted to know after orientation do you have to work the next day after the orientation or you will be given a schedule.
How long did it take for them to get back to you on when you would be having a second interview? I had a interview today but it was a phone interview. I'm from New York btw
I had an interview in person, so I had both of my interviews within a couple hours. Maybe give it a couple of days and see if they call. If they don't, call them and ask. :)
I had to go in to the store for my first interview, I was hired right after that first interview but I guess it depends on how desperately they need employees. Just make sure you have an answer to every question rather than sitting in silence. I know its hard but it helps if you have a friends hold a "mock interview". That's what I do because I have bad social anxiety and used to freeze up when it came to interviews. Good Luck!!
I applied to target like a year ago and I thought it was gonna go good, I got both interviews on the same day so I felt like I was getting the job. But after that I would call and ask of where I stand and basically they kept me in the dark until I went to the store myself to ask if I was gonna get the job or not and they told me no bc they already filled the slots. Is it weird that I’m gonna apply again? I’ve always wanted to work at target. And if I do get hired this time, it’d be seasonal so my time there won’t be secure. Do you have any tips on how to go from a seasonal employee to a regular?
dani The only thing I would say is make sure you work really hard, get to know your coworkers, and I guess do everything you can to make a good impression. When the seasonal part comes to a close, hopefully you would've gotten comfortable at target enough to ask them if there is any way you can stay. I honestly doubt they would say no to that if you prove that you're willing to work hard and that you like it there.
IYBO same. I have this other job- which I got a little over a month ago, and I hate it lol. I want to apply at target but I feel a little iffy about it.

Thank you so much this videos calmed me down. I have a interview today at 4:00 for target. I am super nervous. Thank you for the advice.
I'm glad you found it helpful! How'd the interview go??
I have an interview next Tuesday. Wish me luck y’all 🙏🏿
Update: I got hired, I start orientation soon 🔥
Haitian X congrats
Update: it’s been 3 months, the customers are annoying but I need the money 😂🤷🏿♂️
Haitian X secure the bread
I got hired for fufillment myself expecting lots of hours at least 30 but Human Resources at Target I applied for and gave me 16 hours each week and the job is not hard but I ended up finding a better job full time as a messenger courier :) The management is run by some girls that can even clean their bottoms. If you guys like the job then go ahead and work their while you finish school
My orientation is tomorrow and this video was really nice in helping relax my anxiety
thanks for uploading this video! I had my orientation this morning and this video definitely calmed my nerves!
I'm glad! I made it for that very reason. I was super nervous going in!
That's mah best friend!! ❤️❤️❤️
Ayyeee its mah best friend!!
I’m a teen and I just apply for target. The application only took me about 5mins.😅it change
My orientation is nov 7th at 5pm and its for seasonal hardlines, hopefully they keep me after the 195 day limit haha
Thank you for posting it was very informative and I also have anxiety so many of the things you talked about were relatable, I start on Friday :) thank you!! 😄
ALWAYS READ THE PAPERS THEY MAKE YOU SIGN.
I just had my second interview with Target and I’m so nervous but excited 😆
Did you get the job ?
@@aliciabrown1016 nope sadly
What was the difference between the first and second interview? I have my 2nd this week.
@@priscillakeller8636 well the second one was going me scenarios and see how I would handle it and also some follow up questions from the 1st
What do you do when there is no customers? I know when I worked at McDonalds the made you clean or do random things to keep you busy.
i got hired as a cashier today but the thing that scared me the most are those Red Cards, what if i dont sell some?
KingdomOfRachel thank you so much..i also wanted to thank you because i had my interview today and got hired, your videos definitely helped out a lot!
When I worked at target several years ago, they really pressured me into signing up customers for the red cards. Too much that I quit. They would lecture me everyday about it.
Jeez, that's annoying! The red cards were probably my least favorite thing about working there, for sure.
I love you for making this video ! And next time do you think you can make a video showing us how you use the cash register ? If that's possible
I'll see what I can do! No promises though, lol
I have orientation tomorrow and I'm so nervous and excited :)
You're going to do so good!! :)
I'm so nervous for mine tomorrow 😥
I literally had a panic attack during the orientation. They threw so much info on us, I seriously don't know how long I will stay. All these things to memorize, learn, and so many details! I am overwhelmed.
Sylvia Delis I was in the same exact situation. I was incredibly anxious and stressed. Just try to remember that no one expects you to get everything right away! Help is always there and if you aren’t sure about something, ask your manager. That’s what they’re there for. You got this!
@@KingdomOfRachel Thank you!
Target is my first job apply and I just got invite interview ’s mail from Target. I am so nevours.
I just got hired today at target thk u so much it's my first time and you helped me a lot thk 🙏
Question if you mess up and press the wrong buttons moving too fast do they have a calculator or can you use your phone cause my anxiety gets in the way so i avoid mental math
I have a interview at target tomorrow and I’m so nervous because I have no experience:(
Target was my first job and they hired me with no experience. Everyone was also so amazing in teaching me and being patient with me. You got this! :)
Thank you 🙏🏽
Lil Kame Z no I didn’t :(
I got a Target Interview on Friday and Im kinda nervous since this is my first interview for a job.
Don't be I had my interview yesterday ..speak loud and clear smile and just relax be honest with your answers
Chris Wright Ight thanks bro 👍🏼
@@KingdomOfRachel Okay thanks! I guess I'll just have to see, because I got hired to work the cafe, so who knows🤷♀️ ..... Thank you for your help!
I just got a job at Safeway as a cashier clerk. It’s stressful and it’s good
Thank you for this video I have a interview tomorrow for guest advocate
:( i have an interview tomorrow hopefully I get the job.. i'm so nervoous :(
You'll do great!!
I got the job :D yaaaaaay! thanks so much
Mk Chex That’s awesome!!! Congrats!!!
Here in California its $12.00 an hour! But minimum wage is $10.50. Also did you say a 32 minute lunch break???
That's awesome! Yes, we get a 32 lunch break. It sounds super weird, I know. Basically if we clock in under 30 minutes, we hit compliance which from what I hear, isn't a good thing, lol, so they make us take 32 minutes just to be safe.
Has this changed for you? Because I'm from CA too and its 13.25 for me.
Brenda Aquino Are you in SoCal or NorCal?
Daisy Ochoa SoCal
Brenda Aquino Wow that’s dope, is that what you were offered when you initially got hired?
do you remember how to do one for one batches? I’m on my own tomorrow and my trainer briefly explained
Never mind I ended up relearning it from my ETL and showed me exactly what to do
Are they strict on language? English is not my first language. 😭
Kicks rUs They didn’t have any problem with that at the Target I worked at. In fact, they were glad to have employees that could help customers who couldn’t speak English!
KingdomOfRachel wow great! Thank you! I have an interview by Tuesday. This would be my first interview in United states.
Kicks rUs Good luck! I hope you get it!
KingdomOfRachel hello! Thank you! You are very right, My english is bad so please pardon me and they said, no its not, its totally fine for us.
I have orientation today I was hired a week ago , good pay. Ima general merchandiser also how long typically is the orientation
Thank you!!!!! I'm so nervous my interview is tomorrow morning !!!!! Your so beautiful by the way 😘❤️🖤
You're going to do amazing!!! Also, thank you so much!! :D
KingdomOfRachel thanks love ❤️
thank you for this! I had my interview today and got hired!
although im extremely anxious because i got hired as a cashier and ive never worked a register, this is my first job ever
I had an interview at target last week and they just sent me a rejection email today. I am very disappointed because I really wanted to work there. I don't know why I was rejected.
Brian B I'm so sorry to hear that. What were you interviewing for?
KingdomOfRachel cashier
Brian B If you want to be a cashier you will find a better paying cashier position than Target. Don't take it to the heart because you will find something better
Reapply! There is many new Targets around and new TargetExpress shops. I think you'd have an awesome chance at Target Express. Do you have any idea why they rejected you? How does your schedule look like?
Brian B that happened to me too, but I kept applying and now I got orientation tmr
This is the best video for this on youtube
Thanks for this video. I should be starting soon part time. In the waiting phase. I was hired over a week ago. 🙃
Hey what do you wear for orientation
CC just a nice shirt and a pair of jeans without holes. Nothing too fancy.
Does target care if you have colored hair if you’re working as a cashier ?
They don’t care tbh I’ve seen so many people that have colored hair lol u good
First of all, thank you so much for making this video, it definitely eased my anxiety.
The King In The North thank you so much! I definitely wanted this video to make people feel better and I’m so glad it did!
Good luck!!
KingdomOfRachel thank you so much I hope so aswell
I just started at Target in Charlotte NC Am 67 yo. Was a wreck but everyone is awesome in our store! Your videos totally helped me out. Only thing I'm stuck on is when a customer is paying using their card and then has a gift card they want to use, I'm feeling confused. Any tips? Thanks!
😂😂😂 I started yesterday 😭😭 I was sooooo nervous
Hey my interview is on Monday and I’m really anxious about it because of my bad English. My English is not good so I’m really worried about how I’m gonna talk to them. But I’ve mentioned it in my application that I’m beginner in English. Do you think that I’m gonna get this cashier job?
Hafsa Noor I think that being bilingual will actually help you. When I worked at target, there were several people who didn’t speak very good English but were able to communicate with customers that didn’t either. It helps to have people that can speak multiple languages!
KingdomOfRachel Thank you so much for your help now I can see the hope of getting this job.
Do you know what a rotating schedule means for target ?
I honestly don't know. My schedule has always been super random.
Stephanie Rubio what’s yo Instagram? I’m almost at 4K
I never got an assessment test after filling out their online job application. Is that bad?
Tanishala Bryant Honestly, I’m not sure. It’s been over a year and a half since I’ve worked there. I know Target has changed a little bit, so maybe they changed the assessment.
i did yesterday and i didn’t get that either it was super short
I have orientation in an hour. I'm so nervous. I have worked at 2 grocery stores before and learned the register pretty fast so I'm not too worried just nervous
I had my interviews at target two days ago and they asked if I accepted their offer (which I took to mean I’m hired, right?) and was told I would be called and told I would get a call about the details for orientation (tomorrow) and I still haven’t been called. So should I call and ask about it because I was told nothing about the orientation except that I need to bring forms of ID
Nina Heath I would definitely call them back if not today, then tomorrow!
KingdomOfRachel thank you! Also you are seriously so sweet to make this video and answer everyone’s questions!!
did you sign papers
yes!
say if you have school at 8am do you have to miss a school day to go to the orientation?? or do you just tell them that you have school that day and they’ll reschedule??? OR will they give you a list of days/times to come to orientation??? PLEASE ANSWER
happy gal Definitely tell them! They were super good about scheduling around school when I worked there. They should let you know your choices for orientation times so just choose whichever works the best.
I have an interview on Friday I’m so scared
does target supply the uniforms and who pays for them, and if I pay ,can I do payments
beverly taylor the uniforms are supplied by you. I got my shirts for $5 at Walmart and some cheap khakis at kohls
Thanks for the video! I just got hired and I’m waiting for a call for orientation
Cristian Pelayo that’s awesome!
Great video! I had a question. I wanted to know after orientation do you have to work the next day after the orientation or you will be given a schedule.
Kristina Fam you will be given a schedule!
Good Luck!!
Are you suppose to wear the Target uniform to orientation?
No. Just wear your normal everyday clothes. They'll talk all about uniform at the actual orientation.
KingdomOfRachel Thanks!!
I think it might depend on the store/location, when they called me to schedule the orientation they said to wear the Target uniform
They told me to wear it lol
One more year and i can apply for target, right now I’m mentally preparing because i am socially awkward lol
I have my orientation tmrw wish me luck!
Thank you so it helped me a lot. You are really great.
Thank you so much!!
You know I just applied but I’m still in High school and I doubt they would give me a job because I’m in high school
IYBO same. I have this other job- which I got a little over a month ago, and I hate it lol. I want to apply at target but I feel a little iffy about it.
Cool we were both seniors in the same year
Very helpful, thanks!
Hi! I start my orientation in a week, I'm just wondering how soon after your orientation did you start your training? Thanks!
Brandie Muniz I know it’s different for everyone, but I started my training about a week after orientation!
