The new Taurus and Continental are based off a newly stretched Fusion platform. Something that Ford should have done earlier. The Ford 500/Taurus have been around for over 10 years.
gbriank1 you're Right, they didn't make a new platform for this car. That's pretty standard throughout the industry though, it isn't like they're sharing engines/ cabin materials/ suspension/ etc. Have you been in one of these yet? It feels more comfortable than my Lexus, tbh 😳
I would argue this car would ride better than the Town Car. I drove one and did not like how it handled at all. It was smooth until you went over bumps then it liked to roll and bounce. Maybe thats just the nature of solid rear axle body-on-frame cars but I'm not a fan. Plus I'd rather have AWD anyway.
@@kurtroepke1211 What makes your comment so dumb is the fact it is a Volvo design chassis from when Ford owned them. I own one and it is more car then my '15 SHO.

Finally a Lincoln worth looking at in a long time. Keep the good work up! I saw one yesterday and it looks ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I'd take it over a Lexus ES/ Audi A6/ Cadillac CTS easily based on visual design along! and I bet the ride and handling should be decent too. I drive this car for work, and it's legit! Even though it's heavy, it's so well put together that I have no problem darting in and out of traffic especially in sport mode. The car feels so low to the ground, and its so sleek. And if you were thinking about buying one, you'll have no issues with getting plenty of complements. This car is a winner for sure!

I agree with the RWD comment. I'm sure it's a money issue but these sized sedans should be RWD w/AWD optional. Plus, I really, really don't like the push button transmission (or the stalk transmission of the Mercedes). Radio buttons belong in the middle of the console and turn signals and windshield wiper controls belong on the steering wheel stalks. But, as Emeka mentioned, better to wait a year or two and get your preferred choice as a CPO at a much lower price.

TheLifeOnHigh that's where I'm sure little lost at...downy the mkz play in the midsize market...why position this in the same space...and is Lincoln about to go through another renaming of their cars...
Styling is not inspiring. Interior: Seats remind me of a late 1970s Buick Electra (fluffy, layered design). Exterior: Car looks like a re-designed Chrysler 300. C pillar should have more slope. And a 6 spd tranny for a new model? Should be an 8 spd and if the car is going after 5 series BMW, Lexus GS and MB 300 series, it shouldn't be FWD. My guess is the car will attract those over 60 - not the market the brand should be chasing.
Just saw one this morning (a dealer's car). I admit it looks better in person but my previous comments remain. Lincoln is trying to make a statement with the grill (nearly the same grill as the new MKZ). Still, all I could think about seeing the car is it should "look" more streamline...aerodynamic. I don't see the car attracting the BMW, Lexus or Caddy demographic. In fact, I see the new Infiniti Q line being more inspiring. Lincoln stayed too conservative with styling.
Styling seems to be a winner IMO. Looks like a more ornate Audi. i agree with you about the 6spd. Lincoln should have waited until the new 9spd tranny (Ford and GM joint venture) was ready.
Yes, I wish someone would build a real full-size car (which means it is well over 200 inches long and at least 75 inches wide. Cars like this would have basically been compact in the mid-70s. The exterior styling is still way to bland too
+King Whombat It's too bad we'll never see the likes of it again. I don't understand why their sales figures were so bad in the last few years, considering the car was the go-to vehicle of limo services.
paulparoma idk I think they appealed to the pre baby boom generated and they all kinda died off. that said there are plenty of people in my generation (born in the 90s) who love that design but can't afford it new.
+King Whombat I guess fleet sales were not enough to keep it in production. If I were you, I would look for a nice Florida used one, either a pre-98 (best body, IMO) or 2010-11 (last batch, latest updates). I imagine you have considered that.:)
Rob Rico as a kid my dad had a Mark IV and V....they were way ahead of their time. It was like riding on a cloud. Great in all weather as well. We would drive through snow and ice storms cruising at 70mph...lol...my dad would brag about it. Great post Rob agreed
Drax68 I sure hope not. Being too dominant in the livery market would severely hurt Lincoln's efforts to be taken seriously as a premium brand in the U.S.
Mercedes, BMW and Lexus are also used in livery service (at a higher cost), yet no one questions whether they are still premium brands. Let's face it, most luxury buyers will never look at a Lincoln the same way as one of its German counterparts simply because its an American brand (and a division of Ford Motor Company).
242HP it's weird because I DO put Cadillac (now) up with those German brands. But while this is a nice car, I definitely don't compare it to a Mercedes.
Yoshiaki K. I was in NYC a couple weeks ago and my preferred car service uses a couple Continentals...I rode in one and the back seat was rather cramped. I prefer town cars

Yes, they would. The two vehicles are completely different.
What's the background music called?
That background music :)
Apparently KBB's video production has also gotten a little more stylish. Well done! I like the cinematic quality of this review.
I feel like its a mix off a jaguar xf and a BMW
The other brands do the same thing.
2,579 likes say different.
Well in looks its quite similar, I'm not sure about performance because Jaguar and BMW are also known for performance as well as there luxury.
Don`t care about performance from a luxury car. It`s not a hot rod.
Without the history and legacy they bring.
incline
right?
Styling is not inspiring. Interior: Seats remind me of a late 1970s Buick Electra (fluffy, layered design). Exterior: Car looks like a re-designed Chrysler 300. C pillar should have more slope. And a 6 spd tranny for a new model? Should be an 8 spd and if the car is going after 5 series BMW, Lexus GS and MB 300 series, it shouldn't be FWD. My guess is the car will attract those over 60 - not the market the brand should be chasing.
Exactly what I was thinking.... Both the interior and the exterior look.... done. I've seen this car somewhere before. Uninspired design. Bland.
Lincoln should have waited until the new 9spd tranny (Ford and GM joint venture) was ready.
exactly...they took all the things everyone liked in the concept car and watered it down to fit the size, shape and chassis of a Taurus
What’s the song playing in background!!!!
80 grand for the top of the line???
I love this new Lincoln but it ain't 80 grand.
jpracingph u got a well specced S class for 80grand lol. at least in my country
jpracingph and
Thats a lovely American luxury car just like a Bentley!!!
I love this car
If it's not BIGGER than the old one
then there is no point to this car
Yes, I wish someone would build a real full-size car (which means it is well over 200 inches long and at least 75 inches wide. Cars like this would have basically been compact in the mid-70s. The exterior styling is still way to bland too
tyler2610 you should check out fullsizeauto on instagram for some real cars
gorrilaunit99 that's what she said
My 2000 Continental is longer but this may be more spacious inside idk ima do research
who knows where is exactly this test drive location. Michigan? thanks.
I do think the old town car was a much better car
I completely agree. I can't believe they killed it and just gave the market segment up to the imports.
i know right, they were the only company making that kind of car
Anyone know where is at around 5:00?
I like the 1964 Lincoln continental
midsize?
now bring back the mark series
Rob Rico as a kid my dad had a Mark IV and V....they were way ahead of their time. It was like riding on a cloud. Great in all weather as well. We would drive through snow and ice storms cruising at 70mph...lol...my dad would brag about it. Great post Rob agreed
Now bring back The Town Car
Loved the review, awesome narrator.
Thanks, Lucas!
Needs RWD and a V8
Triple B Club The raptor’s ecoboost V6 would be good too.
what is the song played in the car. he said beatles. i cant recall
looks like a jaguar that's been eating too many donuts
I absolutely love the music to this video.
Bold, theatrical and classy.
The design is uncharismatic. It doesn't have a character that says "I am serious". It needs more individuality, elegance and detailed lines.
What's the song called?
I highly doubt this will be a livery vehicle.
Song in the background?
no V8, just like the new caddy
Jermaine bynum yup but the ct6 still better
CTS-V is the best! only the Escalade and CTS-V is the only V-8 in Cadillac line up LOL
Jermaine bynum Cadillac isnt Cadillac anymore....its just a Mercedes Benz or BMW chaser...gone is true American lustrous cars....now everything is focused for the European and Asian markets
Christopher Hale that's why alot of people are holding on there old Cadillac! I still have mine 67 Eldorado
The ct6 will eventually have an v8. Ford will never do that for lincoln
You are a very entertaining reviewer. Thank you for that.
Haha Micah is hilarious!
Wonderful thanks.
What is the name of this song.
The wheels looks cheap, like from china, besides back lights are stolen from Renault Talisman :)
But the idea with door handles? Genious.
1:24 that's the most optionized cup holder I've ever seen! That car is beautiful I want one
These guys don't know how to dial it down, seriously, a car review or a lame stand up comedy !!
Glad to see the Continental back on the road.
