I worked as a Lincoln Tech for 2 years. Knowing Fords as well they're really easy to work on and I love the way Lincolns ride. Lincolns aren't for everyone. But don't trash it til you actually drive one which most of you haven't.
As the owner of a 2013 Lincoln MKS Ecoboost, I appreciate this car for what it is. It's not a sports sedan. It's a luxury sedan with the power and amenities to keep the driver and occupants happy and comfortable. I've owned trucks, sports cars, muscle cars, sport compacts, sport bikes etc. Regardless of the type of vehicle, none do everything great. If you want to go around corners fast and be one with the road, my MKS and I'm sure the Continental are not the car for you. Buy a Miata. That being said, my MKS is extremely quiet and comfortable and has enough power to make it effortless when I want to pass or stop light challenge most vehicles (my MKS ran a 12.87@106 at PBIR with only a mild tune). The seats, THX sounds system, radar cruise, awd system, adjustable suspension, etc all work well in my MKS. The Continental has improved on all of those features plus is a much nicer vehicle overall. Don't hate on the Continental for what it isn't. Appreciate what it is (quiet, comfortable, acceptably competent) because the things that it can't do can easily be done with a second, cheap car.
Love the MKZ's. Better looking car than my MKS IMHO. I should have given props to The Smoking Tire for his review. I agree completely with his assessment and think that both the praise and criticisms were spot on regarding the Continental. Overall, I feel it would be a world contender if it was just based on a RWD platform. Sadly, that's not the past, present, or seemingly future direction for Ford or, specifically, the Continental badge. In my dream world, I see Lincoln bringing back the Mark name plate and building a true Grand Touring car using the S550 Mustang chassis with the supercharged 5.0 offered in Australia. Ford has the parts bin items to make a crazy new Mark IX. Would love to see it happen.
MKZ is the Zephyr Lincoln just shorten the name if you look back at the last MKZ body style you will see when they first came out they were calling them the Zephyr. Also, the new Continental doesn't look anything like the MKZ. However, the MKS did look like an over sized MKZ but not as good looking.
I feel like no one actually watched the video and are just here to trash Lincoln. I think this is a very nice looking design and the interior/features seem to really match it's price (according to this review anyway).

With the exception of a sentimental appreciation of Slabside Connies and first gen Cougars, I've never really been a fan of Lincolns. But I like Ford, and I'd like to see Lincoln do well. Oddly the one badge engineered car I would like to see from them is a new XR-7 Cougar, ('yote engined Lux-o-stang) One could argue that the current heavy-as-hell Mustang is already basically an XR-7, though.
I think that was half of the American automakers' problems in the late 90's & early 2000's leading to their demise; they refused to let go of the old failing business model. Modern cars need to have "everything" so having 3 "separate" Mopar brands, 3 Ford brands, and 6 GM brands(!) spending all that money trying to cater to different price points, trim levels, and demographics was completely obsolete (imagine the overhead for R&Ding a new mid-level GM sedan that would need to be distinctly a Chevy, a Buick, an Oldsmobile, a Pontiac, and a Cadillac (plus their overseas versions)).They're still kind of limping along with it, and I can understand that the Lincoln (and perhaps Buick) name has a luxury heritage and association that the word "Ford" (or Chevy) does not, but something's got to give. I'm not saying I don't miss the aesthetic options (Camaro vs. Firebird, Capri/Stang/Cougar/Thunderbird, etc.) but as you've pointed out, the modern Mustang can play all of these roles (functionally, at least). It doesn't make a lot of sense for Lincoln to still be around unless they become Ford's Cadillac. Go big or go home. I think this car was an attempt at that, but it may be too little too late.
I love American cars, but no matter how advanced this Lincoln is, there is nothing that really sets it apart from the other luxury brands. Take away the badges and it could as well be a Lexus, Infinity or Acura, even a top-level Korean car, gadgets and all. Compare that to the truly great cars from the past like the '61 Continental, the original Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado etc. who had content ànd style, and this car will just become another faceless and forgettable commuter that relies on gadgets to impress. Even only a bit more imagination in the taillight-treatment, or the dashboard could mean the world in the perception of this car as something special, but that's an opportunity missed. Same comment on the late model Cadillacs and Buicks. Chrysler had several models that were immediately recognisable, the LH-types, the 300 C, but now they are losing it also. Don't you guys learn anything about why Mercedes and BMW are so successfull?
I've driven plenty of these before, always enjoy it. Set the cruise put it in comfort mode and just glide down the freeway. Only think that was missing in Matt's car here was the rear seat package. And the 3.0T (they never call it an ecoboost with Lincoln), is quite the performer. Chances are if you're trashing this car, you haven't driven it.
The Continental is beating sales predictions for it's first 6 months. Overall, there has been strong sales in the 40-60 year age group. Great job Lincoln.
the fact that youre comparing this car at all to a Mercedes S-Class speaks to the quality of the build. Really impressed with American manufacturers lately, especially Ford.

Way to go showing us the road ahead and what the car does with the twists and turns while putting yourself in the small picture below. Matt this is why I consider you an expert car guy. Your commentary of the engine being transverse vs longitudinal is spot on. While not a huge difference, there is a difference in performance handling. Transverse engines also affect longevity of the entire drivetrain and also the front end design from the front axel to A-pillars. Thank you for being awesome.
I’m looking to pick one up used. 3 years old and $80k+ car is going for $25 to 35k. Bargain of lifetime as it is a good car. Even Consumer Reports gives it top ratings for reliability.
I think this is a really cool car, but I believe Matt is right. They needed a 300 to build the brand up before they went for a car like this. as you can see from the comments, people are too jaded by the brand.
Lincoln was under a lot of pressure from the limo industry to build a good replacement to the town car because when Ford dropped the town car there wasn't a good replacement from any of the brands. That's why the limo industry forced them to continue making the town car a few years after intended kill date. In fact, I would not buy a town car after 2009 because that's when they pushed manufacturing over to Canada and only used leftover parts from other models and deleted many of the standard safety features such as back up sensors. These cars were so far behind the times they still had tape decks in them. Lincoln first tried pushing the MKS to the limo companies but the problems with them when they first came out were ride quality(they were to sporty), the trunk opening was to small, and they didn't offer a L series(which means there wasn't enough leg room in the back). So that's when Lincoln tried pushing the MKT town car edition which that was a big bomb to all the Limousine company's customer base. So Lincoln over time fixed some of the problems with the MKS so many of the Limo companies switched to the MKS until something better comes along. The thing is Lincoln didn't want to build just a fleet car they wanted to build market competitive car. That's when they went back to the drawing board trying figure out a good replacement to the MKS and town car. So they went deeper into their history and pulled out the new Continental. I had talked to some of the board members of Ford during this time and they were very hush hush and wouldn't tell me anything about how they were going to replace the Town Car but they would say it was going to be very nice and true to the old Lincoln brand.

Lincoln made the Continental because the Cadillac XTS was dominating the market Lincoln used to be the leader of. With that said, it'd be interesting to see what happens from here. People keep saying the CT6 is the Continental's primary competitor, but it's actually the XTS. Big, roomy, flashy, smooth Classic American luxury. Precisely what limo industry requires (as well as what fans of classic American luxury wants). I think the Continental will be a success..
chris55top great write up! To me the Continental is more of a luxury car than the Town car. I think they were going for a more high end audience. If you look at the Cadillac XTS, that is a more generic design that fits into the Limo template.
It would not be a profitable vehicle on it's own chassis. It will always be an Expedition, but it looks like they've done a good job of differentiating to me. I'm a car guy so I've never confused an Expo with a Navi. That's just me though.
FINALLY someone reviews this car. It feels like forever since it was supposed to come out, and I had only seen 1 in passing a couple weeks ago. Glad there's some hands-on perspective now. Matt's closing thoughts here mimic what the car seems like to me not having driven it yet: Lincoln's best shot in years, but lacking some key details. Granted, it may be no S-class, but it's also not priced like one (the "lowest" S550 with AWD is $100k). The Continental's biggest problem I think is the fact that it launched with a 6-speed auto that has no trick features. EVERYONE else in this class has at least a specialized 7-speed, and most have 8 cogs or more. I'm not concerned about FWD-biased AWD because Audi does that too and nobody scoffs at Audis. The interior is probably fine and upscale enough, but at this point it's down to the market to determine if the Continental can outgun low-level luxury wannabes before it starts clawing at the Germans, Japanese, or Cadillac.
Love this thing!!! Saw it at the auto show this year! So Excutive all in all. Feels like I need to have my own business to drive one. My favorite design is the door handles along the window sill. Makes the body lines sooo clean. Great car and on my list! Great review!

Harrison Edgar lol. You missed the part this is a “luxury” vehicle. Luxury is meant to be expensive and excessive, ie, not meant for the average person’s income and needs. There’s plenty of “transportation” cars your broke ass can afford.
@@hedga001 This car is absolutely worth it. My aunt bought a Black Label new in burgundy with a cream interior. She doesn't care about depreciation because she loves the car and can easily afford it. To be honest, if you're worried about depreciation, you have no business buying a new car to begin with.
I own a CLS 550, drive this car, if you ever liked Lincoln, your gonna love this, for the money, 400 hp, 400 ft lbs torque, need to spend 20 more for anything else w that power
I've started seeing these in person, in photos I didn't really like them, but in the real world, they have great presence and look great. I hope Lincoln continues doing good stuff. :)

was in a silver Lincoln with the Blue leather and Aluminum trim and was blown away at how they are reinterpreting the 60's classic american luxury car. It was bold and brash and all the materials felt of quality, it was as if someone at Lincoln had actually spent time in an early 60's Continental and understood that the look and touch of the cockpit matter when your trying to convey luxury. Well Done Lincoln. However they are totally missing the mark when it comes to advertising it, SHOW THE DAMN INTERIOR! not the wanna be Bentley grille!. That roll-up center console in aluminum screams 60's luxury.

Dalton v It doesn't! The fonts may be the same on the switches and buttons, but the materials and build quality are COMPLETELY different. I've had the privilege to sit in both, and I can assure you, they are NOT the same as your Focus.
What's wrong with parts sharing? Sharing parts saves a TON of money on basic parts like turn signals, seat rails, RND etc. NOBODY is every going to care or notice if a turn signal stalk is shared with a Taurus. Technically, Mercedes does the same thing in Europe since they sell base model versions of the cars they sell in America. In Europe, you can get a base C/E class with cloth seats and roll up windows (c class). Both these models share the same basic parts with the top trim levels. Heck, Mercedes even makes economy cars like the A class. Mercedes just doesn't have a luxury only division like Ford does. Most of their models have base versions. Get into a German E Class cab and you'll see what I'm talking about. Your point is moot, and ignorant.
Would love to hear actual OWNERS of the new Continentals & their actual experiences after owning one. As a owner, do you still consider the 2017-2020 Continental a "Reliable" vehicle? How many mechanical issues has your Continetal had? How many miles did you get out of it or have gotten out of it if you still own it? IF you got rid of it then why & how come? This kind of info would be super valuable to prospective used car buyers of the Lincoln Continental. Thanks to anyone giving their honest opinion after owning or still owning this car. It sure would be nice to her actual owners of this car commenting in here instead of just a bunch of opinions about Lincoln/Ford & versus other vehicles.
I own a 2019 Reserve with 25k, 3.0 AWD. List new was almost 76k, has the rear seat package, 30 way seats with massage, 20 inch wheels. I bought it for less than half new and Lincoln Certified Preowned had a 6 year 100K warranty, that starts from the original warranty date. Car is great, handles well, very fast, quiet, tons of room. On a trip I got almost 26 mpg, city it will get 15 to 17 mpg. If you are looking for one try to get a 2019 or 2020 so it may have some factory warranty left and the Lincoln dealers will certify it. I bought on a 10 year 100k Premium Ford/Lincoln warranty for only $1300.00, online, I am covered till 2/2030 with a $100.00 deductible. The selling dealer wanted 3K for it. I would pull the trigger if you find a nice one.
I used to own a fully loaded 2001 Lincoln Continental that had that bulletproof and underrated 275 HP / 275 LB-FT Intech 32 Valve V8 in it. It was a lot quicker than it looked because it only weighed about 70 pounds more than the Lincoln Mark VIII, but the Conti had more aggressive 3.56 gearing versus the Mark VIII and LSC which had 3.07 for the regular Mark VIII, and 3.27 gearing in the Mark VIII LSC. For a car that was 208.5" long, it was fairly light at 3,848 pounds. Most cars this size are well over 4,100+ pounds. I put over 200,000 trouble free miles on that car, and all I ever did was scheduled maintenance to it. I was one of the lucky ones who never had a problem with that unmodified 200 HP Taurus transmission they used in these cars. Anyway, it still looked and drove like a new car when I sold it. As nice as that '01 Continental was, I could only imagine how nice these new Conti's are! I wish they at least had a V8 as an option, but I certainly wouldn't mind a 400 HP Twin Turbo V6 either though.
The 9 speed auto does need to come out and replace that prehistoric 6 speed though. That transmission is just a bit too antiquated to be put in vehicles that are not economy cars in 2017.
Out of all of the luxury cars sold today, this is probably the only one I actually like. Don't get me wrong, there are very nice cars out there, but this is really the only luxury car I'd probably consider buying, mainly because it's not that sporty and aggressive. It's just a nice full size sedan that I can drive in comfort.
gas mileage and sticking with the times everyone is going twin turbo now. I had a 95 mark viii trust me I loved the powerful 4.6 but times are changing.
Kenneth Wilburn fuel believes in fuel economy that's y u won't see along of cars with v8s in them if u had the money u can buy a crate v8 motor and do a engine swap I'm thinking of doing it with a Taurus
Everyone's right about fuel economy.....expect for the fuel economy part. Ford Ecoboost engines get TERRIBLE fuel economy, particularly in the real-world where it counts. This car gets nearly the same mileage as a Dodge Charger SRT8, a car with more than double the displacement.

The best part about the Continental Concept was the INTERIOR. That old school non-leather interior like 80-90s american luxury cars that felt like a living room of wheels. Why not offer that as an option? This interior looks like every other leather interior on offer. Too much money on infotainment maybe?
Alex Martinez I'd totally go for some "grandmas couch" quilted velour interior. To this day the back seat of my grandmas New Yorker was the most comfortable thing I've ever sat on.
I think all the haters would eat their words if they saw Parker's review(s) of the Continental from Vehicle Virgins. Or if they saw close up pictures of the car with the whitish leather package. What I love about the car is that Lincoln will drop off a Continental at your home or office for every service appointment during your first 4 years of ownership :) No more wasting time at the dealer. Genesis is also providing this convenience.
the concept had SO much character and unique charm to it this is just a me-too luxury checkbox car, as in checks a series of checkboxes for a luxury car without doing anything interesting.
Ryan Lewis Ford does have some dual clutch autos in their stable. Problem is that they're kinda crap. Having driven cars with them, I understand why it wouldn't be in a luxury car, I'll put it that way.
The concept had them, but obviously lots of concepts carry items that never make production (Navigator concept's gullwing style doors that will also not become a reality).
Interesting that you didn't think the AWD system was up to snuff. Doesn't the Continental share the torque vectoring system from the Focus RS? Perhaps it just can't overcome the size.
I'd probably buy a Caddy instead. Hell a used a CTS-V will low miles say a 2013 is in the $40's with 550HP. No that's not apples to apples, just my money.
My bank account but the wife says the Dodge Charger Hellcat is what she'd rather us buy. With 707HP plus a warranty I'll bone up the extra coin. I found a used mint one here in white with 4,000 miles for $58,000. The white would be a total sleeper, sorta..probably would have to take the Hellcat emblem off though.
Then you don't count. Stop comparing used cars to new cars. Those buyers are different and in different segments. One can actually afford the car, the other wants something they can't afford but settle for used. The CTS-V is irrelevant here.
holymolydamn I've sat in this back to back with The ct6, g90, a class, 7 series. (At an auto show) and the interior certainly left an impression. I much preferred it to the ct6 and thought it was on par if not a little better than the g90. Still has a ways to go to get to a class/7 series level.
Loaded Chevy Impalas and Ford Taurus sedans are 40 grand, and the Continental nicely equipped can be bought for 52 grand. You are totally unaware of what NEW CARS cost because you spend your time on used car lots when you need a car....
colderbeer A nicely equipped Impala/Taurus can be had for 30k, that's almost half in my books. A fully loaded Impala/Taurus is 40k yes, but a fully loaded Continental is 75k. You're in fully loaded CTS-V sport territory there and there's no comparison between the two.

Having beautiful, quality touch points in an interior in a luxury car is extremely important to me. I'm happy to hear Lincoln has done it right mostly. I still believe this is what is holding back Cadillac from having better sales.
I bought one of these cars, the 2017 Continental Reserve. I regret it zero. Love the car. Get lots of positive, appreciative feedback. Haters be damned.
+Dilan Parmar - Great motor, pretty stout, major thing to pay attention to on those cars, are the ABC Hydraulic suspension, make sure you change your fluid at least every 2 years and make sure all the pressure hoses stay in good shape. The Power Steering pump is also the suspension pump, and if you lose a line, and burn up that pump it isn't cheap. Oh and when a coil goes out for some reason they didn't do individual coils per cyl, like the v6 and v8, so a coil pack on each side is about $1K. but the W220 are such good value on the used market, I have been tempted to pick up an S65 once or twice.
I thought the Continental was lame when the first pics came out, totally changed my mind when I first started seeing em in person. Looks great to my eyes! I was really into the MKZ too (except for stupid grille), haven't seen the updated version out on the street yet.
@thesmokingTire You're wrong about it using a haldex system. It uses a GKN AWD system similar to the one used in the Focus RS. Its a very different system than Haldex.
I was blown away by how good this car felt to hang out in. It's a legitimately beautiful vehicle (though I don't like the wood trim used in this example).
I have a 2019 Continental black label. It is not a sports car….. it’s a luxury cruiser. Not going to act like a BMW or Mercedes. Best riding car I have ever owned!

Great review Matt. Glad someone is reviewing this car, as it hasn't had it's fair share of coverage since being released. After spending a little (non driving) time in one, I too can attest to its opulence, however as with all new cars it left me wondering how it'll stand up to the test of time.
When Ford brought this to my school (engineering school), I was moderately impressed. I'm not really a fan of Ford in general, but it had massaging seats and stuff and was pretty cool. But, if people call the Dodge Challenger a yacht, then this is a damn cruise ship. The amount of power it has is not enough for how much it weighs.
These 'one takes' come out right when I'm about to go on break at work. I love it. Something to watch while I'm chillin.

The MKS was one of the worst car to come out in years. Total failure in both sales and critically.
It just wasn't a good car; big on the outside, small on the inside, expensive for what you got, did nothing well. There were so many better options.

I love American cars, but no matter how advanced this Lincoln is, there is nothing that really sets it apart from the other luxury brands. Take away the badges and it could as well be a Lexus, Infinity or Acura, even a top-level Korean car, gadgets and all. Compare that to the truly great cars from the past like the '61 Continental, the original Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado etc. who had content ànd style, and this car will just become another faceless and forgettable commuter that relies on gadgets to impress. Even only a bit more imagination in the taillight-treatment, or the dashboard could mean the world in the perception of this car as something special, but that's an opportunity missed. Same comment on the late model Cadillacs and Buicks. Chrysler had several models that were immediately recognisable, the LH-types, the 300 C, but now they are losing it also. Don't you guys learn anything about why Mercedes and BMW are so successfull?
I've driven plenty of these before, always enjoy it. Set the cruise put it in comfort mode and just glide down the freeway. Only think that was missing in Matt's car here was the rear seat package. And the 3.0T (they never call it an ecoboost with Lincoln), is quite the performer. Chances are if you're trashing this car, you haven't driven it.

The Continental is beating sales predictions for it's first 6 months. Overall, there has been strong sales in the 40-60 year age group. Great job Lincoln.

Matt this is why I consider you an expert car guy. Your commentary of the engine being transverse vs longitudinal is spot on. While not a huge difference, there is a difference in performance handling. Transverse engines also affect longevity of the entire drivetrain and also the front end design from the front axel to A-pillars. Thank you for being awesome.

I think this is a really cool car, but I believe Matt is right. They needed a 300 to build the brand up before they went for a car like this.

Lincoln was under a lot of pressure from the limo industry to build a good replacement to the town car because when Ford dropped the town car there wasn't a good replacement from any of the brands. That's why the limo industry forced them to continue making the town car a few years after intended kill date. In fact, I would not buy a town car after 2009 because that's when they pushed manufacturing over to Canada and only used leftover parts from other models and deleted many of the standard safety features such as back up sensors. These cars were so far behind the times they still had tape decks in them. Lincoln first tried pushing the MKS to the limo companies but the problems with them when they first came out were ride quality(they were to sporty), the trunk opening was to small, and they didn't offer a L series(which means there wasn't enough leg room in the back). So that's when Lincoln tried pushing the MKT town car edition which that was a big bomb to all the Limousine company's customer base. So Lincoln over time fixed some of the problems with the MKS so many of the Limo companies switched to the MKS until something better comes along. The thing is Lincoln didn't want to build just a fleet car they wanted to build market competitive car. That's when they went back to the drawing board trying figure out a good replacement to the MKS and town car. So they went deeper into their history and pulled out the new Continental. I had talked to some of the board members of Ford during this time and they were very hush hush and wouldn't tell me anything about how they were going to replace the Town Car but they would say it was going to be very nice and true to the old Lincoln brand.

Lincoln made the Continental because the Cadillac XTS was dominating the market Lincoln used to be the leader of. With that said, it'd be interesting to see what happens from here. People keep saying the CT6 is the Continental's primary competitor, but it's actually the XTS. Big, roomy, flashy, smooth Classic American luxury. Precisely what limo industry requires (as well as what fans of classic American luxury wants). I think the Continental will be a success..

To me the Continental is more of a luxury car than the Town car. I think they were going for a more high end audience.
If you look at the Cadillac XTS, that is a more generic design that fits into the Limo template.

It would not be a profitable vehicle on it's own chassis. It will always be an Expedition, but it looks like they've done a good job of differentiating to me. I'm a car guy so I've never confused an Expo with a Navi. That's just me though.

FINALLY someone reviews this car. It feels like forever since it was supposed to come out, and I had only seen 1 in passing a couple weeks ago. Glad there's some hands-on perspective now.
Matt's closing thoughts here mimic what the car seems like to me not having driven it yet: Lincoln's best shot in years, but lacking some key details. Granted, it may be no S-class, but it's also not priced like one (the "lowest" S550 with AWD is $100k). The Continental's biggest problem I think is the fact that it launched with a 6-speed auto that has no trick features. EVERYONE else in this class has at least a specialized 7-speed, and most have 8 cogs or more. I'm not concerned about FWD-biased AWD because Audi does that too and nobody scoffs at Audis. The interior is probably fine and upscale enough, but at this point it's down to the market to determine if the Continental can outgun low-level luxury wannabes before it starts clawing at the Germans, Japanese, or Cadillac.

was in a silver Lincoln with the Blue leather and Aluminum trim and was blown away at how they are reinterpreting the 60's classic american luxury car. It was bold and brash and all the materials felt of quality, it was as if someone at Lincoln had actually spent time in an early 60's Continental and understood that the look and touch of the cockpit matter when your trying to convey luxury. Well Done Lincoln. However they are totally missing the mark when it comes to advertising it, SHOW THE DAMN INTERIOR! not the wanna be Bentley grille!. That roll-up center console in aluminum screams 60's luxury.

What's wrong with parts sharing? Sharing parts saves a TON of money on basic parts like turn signals, seat rails, RND etc. NOBODY is every going to care or notice if a turn signal stalk is shared with a Taurus. Technically, Mercedes does the same thing in Europe since they sell base model versions of the cars they sell in America. In Europe, you can get a base C/E class with cloth seats and roll up windows (c class). Both these models share the same basic parts with the top trim levels. Heck, Mercedes even makes economy cars like the A class. Mercedes just doesn't have a luxury only division like Ford does. Most of their models have base versions. Get into a German E Class cab and you'll see what I'm talking about. Your point is moot, and ignorant.
Would love to hear actual OWNERS of the new Continentals & their actual experiences after owning one. As a owner, do you still consider the 2017-2020 Continental a "Reliable" vehicle? How many mechanical issues has your Continetal had? How many miles did you get out of it or have gotten out of it if you still own it? IF you got rid of it then why & how come? This kind of info would be super valuable to prospective used car buyers of the Lincoln Continental. Thanks to anyone giving their honest opinion after owning or still owning this car.

I own a 2019 Reserve with 25k, 3.0 AWD. List new was almost 76k, has the rear seat package, 30 way seats with massage, 20 inch wheels. I bought it for less than half new and Lincoln Certified Preowned had a 6 year 100K warranty, that starts from the original warranty date. Car is great, handles well, very fast, quiet, tons of room. On a trip I got almost 26 mpg, city it will get 15 to 17 mpg. If you are looking for one try to get a 2019 or 2020 so it may have some factory warranty left and the Lincoln dealers will certify it. I bought on a 10 year 100k Premium Ford/Lincoln warranty for only $1300.00, online, I am covered till 2/2030 with a $100.00 deductible. The selling dealer wanted 3K for it. I would pull the trigger if you find a nice one.

I used to own a fully loaded 2001 Lincoln Continental that had that bulletproof and underrated 275 HP / 275 LB-FT Intech 32 Valve V8 in it. It was a lot quicker than it looked because it only weighed about 70 pounds more than the Lincoln Mark VIII, but the Conti had more aggressive 3.56 gearing versus the Mark VIII and LSC which had 3.07 for the regular Mark VIII, and 3.27 gearing in the Mark VIII LSC. For a car that was 208.5" long, it was fairly light at 3,848 pounds. Most cars this size are well over 4,100+ pounds.
I put over 200,000 trouble free miles on that car, and all I ever did was scheduled maintenance to it. I was one of the lucky ones who never had a problem with that unmodified 200 HP Taurus transmission they used in these cars. Anyway, it still looked and drove like a new car when I sold it. As nice as that '01 Continental was, I could only imagine how nice these new Conti's are! I wish they at least had a V8 as an option, but I certainly wouldn't mind a 400 HP Twin Turbo V6 either though.
The 9 speed auto does need to come out and replace that prehistoric 6 speed though. That transmission is just a bit too antiquated to be put in vehicles that are not economy cars in 2017.
Out of all of the luxury cars sold today, this is probably the only one I actually like. Don't get me wrong, there are very nice cars out there, but this is really the only luxury car I'd probably consider buying, mainly because it's not that sporty and aggressive. It's just a nice full size sedan that I can drive in comfort.

Ford Ecoboost engines get TERRIBLE fuel economy, particularly in the real-world where it counts. This car gets nearly the same mileage as a Dodge Charger SRT8, a car with more than double the displacement.

The best part about the Continental Concept was the INTERIOR. That old school non-leather interior like 80-90s american luxury cars that felt like a living room of wheels. holymolydamn I've sat in this back to back with The ct6, g90, a class, 7 series. (At an auto show) and the interior certainly left an impression. I much preferred it to the ct6 and thought it was on par if not a little better than the g90.

Having beautiful, quality touch points in an interior in a luxury car is extremely important to me. I'm happy to hear Lincoln has done it right mostly. I still believe this is what is holding back Cadillac from having better sales.

+Dilan Parmar - Great motor, pretty stout, major thing to pay attention to on those cars, are the ABC Hydraulic suspension, make sure you change your fluid at least every 2 years and make sure all the pressure hoses stay in good shape. The Power Steering pump is also the suspension pump, and if you lose a line, and burn up that pump it isn't cheap. Oh and when a coil goes out for some reason they didn't do individual coils per cyl, like the v6 and v8, so a coil pack on each side is about $1K. but the W220 are such good value on the used market, I have been tempted to pick up an S65 once or twice.
I thought the Continental was lame when the first pics came out, totally changed my mind when I first started seeing em in person. Looks great to my eyes! I was really into the MKZ too (except for stupid grille), haven't seen the updated version out on the street yet.

Being built on the same platform as the Taurus does not make it bad. Hell, that platform sharing is why this car is even feasible in the first place.
Doesn't this share (albeit a massaged) platform from a Fusion? Also, isn't the torque vectoring rear axle is from the Focus RS?
Escape for Mankind is Keith Johnson its a modified CD4 platform which underpins the Fusion and MKZ

Great review Matt. Glad someone is reviewing this car, as it hasn't had it's fair share of coverage since being released. After spending a little (non driving) time in one, I too can attest to its opulence, however as with all new cars it left me wondering how it'll stand up to the test of time.
When Ford brought this to my school (engineering school), I was moderately impressed. I'm not really a fan of Ford in general, but it had massaging seats and stuff and was pretty cool. But, if people call the Dodge Challenger a yacht, then this is a damn cruise ship. The amount of power it has is not enough for how much it weighs.
Not everyone want a police car challenger
It does 0 to 60 in 5 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.5 seconds. Sounds like that is fast enough for a 4500 pound car.
