These food specialists should just shut the hell up, they put people on diets that exclude stuff and then it's found to be good for you. I am 69, healthy, exercise with weights 3 times a week. I grow my own veggies in my back yard in a spread out strange way for a reason. On top of that I use a slow harvest, letting the veggies recover for 24 hours before the next harvest. My grand father, farmer, carried a pocket knife that he used to skin his apples before eating them, he knew that the poisons sprayed on fruit penetrate thin skinned fruit. In nature if a giraffe eats on a tree, the tree releases tannins and oxalates into it's leaves so the giraffe moves up wind to the next tree as these chemicals "talk" to the down wind trees. I believe that veggies also "talk" to one another this way so that is why I use spread out planting and slow harvest. I eat anything I want to, but 17/7 fasting as a life style choice. Then if I decide to have pasta for an evening meal,I do so on a rest day so the next morning I burn it out with my exercise.
I have been taking it and haven’t experienced any symptoms of course these are dose dependent and we are all different and we have diverse sensitivities so it’s good to monitor and report these

It’s great to get this feedback, the human studies are promising but not conclusive, so we have to wait a bit for this one to pan out. For now we have to go by our own experience
If i had to pick one i would pick a high qualtiy high dose omega 3 fish oil. C:15 is made by the microbiome from the fermentation of fiber-producing SCFA's, in particular propionic acid, which is then converted to C:15 in the liver. This is how it ends up in dairy fat, via a cow consuming grass: fiber>SCFA propionate>C:15 - the exact same pathway in humans. No dietary Saturated Fat is required to produce it. (cows don't consume hardly any Saturated fat). The issue is that for 10's of thousands of years, early humans consumed far more fiber than modern humans do now. Studies on early homo sapiens fossilized poop, shows that they consumed 100-225g of fiber per day on average: Coprolite research (fossilized human poop) reveals that prehistoric populations relied heavily on plants in their diet for over 10,000 years. Africa - 120g of fiber per day N. America - Mexico 150-225g of fiber per day S. America - Peru 100g per day Australia - over 100g of fiber per day Modern Americans consume about 10-15g of fiber per day on average. So humans were eating 10-20 TIMES more plant fiber than modern humans. 2017 Study: Odd-chain fatty acids as a biomarker for dietary fiber intake: a novel pathway for endogenous production from propionate. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition "Conclusions: Our data show that gut-derived propionate is used for the hepatic synthesis of OCFAs in humans. The association of OCFAs with a decreased risk of type 2 diabetes may therefore also relate to dietary fiber intake and not only dairy fat." Also BCAAs (Valine) are also used by the human body for endogenous production of both OCFAs C:15 and C:17: Study: The branched-chain amino acids valine and leucine have differential effects on hepatic lipid metabolism “Our data clearly show that valine supplementation in vivo contributes to C15:0 and C17:0 formation via these two described pathways. This is corroborated by our in vitro studies, showing that Valine treatment leads to elevated OCFA levels with inductions of Ppara and Hacl1 in a dose dependent manner.” “Taken together, these data illustrate differential roles of the BCAA in lipid metabolism and provide preliminary evidence that exclusively valine contributes to the endogenous formation of OCFA which is important for a better understanding of these metabolites in metabolic health.”
Fiber is key in our diet no question, however if the gut is not ready for the fiber we have a problem, so starting with pre and probiotics and following this up with fermented foods is the only way to diversify the gut biome, only then can we effectively introduce fiber
What is Ferroptosis? - Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent process that results in the accumulation of toxic lipid peroxides and ROS, which ultimately leads to cell death. What Causes Ferroptosis? - Heme Iron Where does Heme Iron come from? Only found in animal flesh. Plants do not make Heme Iron. What Helps Prevent Ferroptosis? OCFA C:15 What is an “Essential” nutrient? - “An essential nutrient is a substance that the body can't make in sufficient quantities or at all, and therefore must be obtained from food in order to function properly.” Is C:15 an Essential Fatty Acid? - No, because the body makes it through multiple pathways. How is C:15 Made in the Human Body? From the SCFA Propionate How is SCFA Propionate Made in the Human Body? Gut microbiome fermentation of fiber Where does Fiber come from? Fiber only comes from plants (and fungi and algae). Animals do not make fiber. Why so much C:15 in Dairy? Cows eat very large amounts of fiber (grass), fermented into SCFA/Propionate and converted to the OCFA C:15

No, C15:0 is not a full-fat kefir. C15:0, also known as pentadecanoic acid, is a type of saturated fatty acid found in some full-fat dairy products like milk, butter, and certain animal fats. It is being studied for its potential health benefits, such as anti-inflammatory and metabolic effects. Full-fat kefir, on the other hand, is a fermented dairy product rich in probiotics, made from milk and kefir grains. While full-fat kefir may contain small amounts of C15:0 due to its dairy content, they are not the same thing.
Dolphins get it from WHOLE FISH, not the parts of fish that we usually eat. Asian and Mediterranean diets do use a lot of whole fish and fish sauces.. So, they are getting this, even if they are not using a lot of grass fed dairy. In our culture, this is a big deficiency.
hey Mr. NCS. You left out so much. What is this saturated fat made from - you mentioned whole milk but don't drink it... So what foods DO contain it? Where do we get C15? Next time before posting a video can you please have someone with common sense review it and go over what you left out. thank you sir.

Just make sure you analyze the “farm to fork” track, because it could affect your health negatively I’m talking about how they were fed, their environment, anti-biotic usage etc etc all this could be detrimental to our health. Times have changed and not always for the better
No... there is not any considerable C15 in the parts of fish that most of us eat, in the western diet. You need to consume WHOLE fish.. which is common in Asian and Mediterranean diets. Even if they do not eat a lot of dairy. And, very very few people consume GRASS FED dairy. That is key factor. Grain fed cows do not produce nearly that amount of C15.
So far I haven't heard one person say how it changed their life... so I am out on this one for now... I have tried so many supplements in my life that didn't make a difference and I am tired of it...

Total fat intake (when high) disrupts the individual fatty acids. By using cheese to get your C15, you end up with less if you’re eating high fat throughout the rest of the day (from other foods). That’s why a low fat plant-based diet is the best (with very small amounts of cheese, meat and eggs) and animal based foods can be used as ‘condiments’.
Have to strongly disagree with that, protein is king for longevity, vegetables snd fruits are important and the giber is also vital - if you want to go vegan or close to it you will really have to supplement your protein intake and make sure you’re not coming short on the essentials - its doable but way more work and calculating

OK, here is a more detailed explanation of my comment. This dude is talking about using pharmaceuticals to enhance longevity and promote better health. He’s also discussing the use of single compounds and how they might affect the physiology of the human body. Start with this is a great example of reductionism, which is an extremely flawed methodology. Secondly, while some pharmaceuticals have their place in the reduction of pathology symptoms, the idea that you’re going to use a pharmaceutical like Metformin to enhance your health and longevity is total nonsense. Simply allows cells to shove more glucose into them, exacerbating the underlying problem of glucose regulation in the first place. I.e., don’t eat so many damn carbohydrates. This guys dunning Kruger is stunning. His understanding of biochemistry is so lacking, I doubt he has even the slightest understanding of the physics as well. Like I said, the worst video ever.
Obviously you haven’t really seen the whole episode or episodes building up to this one where i go over Metformin, the ongoing human trails and that up to this point the research doesn’t show an advantage for healthy people, only those that are diabetic or pre- diabetic. In this episode we are comparing C15:0 to these compounds that are current being used in the longevity space by researchers such as David St Claire of Harvard and dr Peter Attia to name just two There is no reductionism here
@@TheVisserPodcast hahaha, there are people on this thread stating that they are ordering c15 because of this video. Why don’t you try diving into the quantum biology before trying to muddle around into the bio chemistry? It is extremely reductionist to attribute single compounds to any physiological response, positive or negative. Metformin does not “help” people with diabetes, it merely delays their neuropathy.

Awesome next level

My mom and I tried it for 4 months and saw no changes. Only one company selling it (the founder) and you have to buy 3 months worth of caps. I guess it's not for everybody.
It’s great to get this feedback, the human studies are promising but not conclusive, so we have to wait a bit for this one to pan out. For now we have to go by our own experience
Great post- easy to understand (Stop moving the camera- its better when he's looking directly at us)
If i had to pick one i would pick a high qualtiy high dose omega 3 fish oil. They take part in so many biologically essential role in every cell for making many proto hormones like prostaglandins involved in immune functions and inflammation. Have been taking it for 20 years and have no chronic disease and don’t take any medicines in my senior years. Other than relying on good nutrition and not eating processed carbs based on grains. Though have a family history of diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular and arthritis. If one wants to boost your C15 i understand some sheep cheese have a good amount.
More studies on C15 seem to be on animals so far.
Omega 3 DHA and EPA marine source are essential, but I would put vit D with K2 and Magnesium up there next to the Omega’s.
Staying strong and fit is by far the key to wellbeing and longevity, keep up the good work

Studies on early homo sapiens fossilized poop, shows that they consumed 100-225g of fiber per day on average:
Coprolite research (fossilized human poop) reveals that prehistoric populations relied heavily on plants in their diet for over 10,000 years.
Africa - 120g of fiber per day
N. America - Mexico 150-225g of fiber per day
S. America - Peru 100g per day
Australia - over 100g of fiber per day
Modern Americans consume about 10-15g of fiber per day on average. So humans were eating 10-20 TIMES more plant fiber than modern humans.
2017 Study: Odd-chain fatty acids as a biomarker for dietary fiber intake: a novel pathway for endogenous production from propionate. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition
"Conclusions: Our data show that gut-derived propionate is used for the hepatic synthesis of OCFAs in humans. The association of OCFAs with a decreased risk of type 2 diabetes may therefore also relate to dietary fiber intake and not only dairy fat."
Also BCAAs (Valine) are also used by the human body for endogenous production of both OCFAs C:15 and C:17:
Study: The branched-chain amino acids valine and leucine have differential effects on hepatic lipid metabolism
“Our data clearly show that valine supplementation in vivo contributes to C15:0 and C17:0 formation via these two described pathways. This is corroborated by our in vitro studies, showing that Valine treatment leads to elevated OCFA levels with inductions of Ppara and Hacl1 in a dose dependent manner.”
“Taken together, these data illustrate differential roles of the BCAA in lipid metabolism and provide preliminary evidence that exclusively valine contributes to the endogenous formation of OCFA which is important for a better understanding of these metabolites in metabolic health.”
- Heme Iron
Where does Heme Iron come from? Only found in animal flesh. Plants do not make Heme Iron.
What Helps Prevent Ferroptosis? OCFA C:15
What is an “Essential” nutrient? - “An essential nutrient is a substance that the body can't make in sufficient quantities or at all, and therefore must be obtained from food in order to function properly.”
Is C:15 an Essential Fatty Acid? - No, because the body makes it through multiple pathways.
How is C:15 Made in the Human Body? From the SCFA Propionate
How is SCFA Propionate Made in the Human Body? Gut microbiome fermentation of fiber
Where does Fiber come from? Fiber only comes from plants (and fungi and algae). Animals do not make fiber.
Why so much C:15 in Dairy? Cows eat very large amounts of fiber (grass), fermented into SCFA/Propionate and converted to the OCFA C:15

People who suffer greatly become great
Dr. Brad Stanfield in his video "Exposed! The Dangerous Truth About Supplements" said that C15:0 is BS.
That guy has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. Ive been taking Fatty15 for about a year and feel AMAZING. I was always tired, my skin was dry with wrinkes and dark circles, no energy and my sleep was messed up. As soon as I started taking Fatty15 it all went away. Now I sleep great, wake up energized, have plenty of energy throughout the day, my skin looks better and is softer, wrinkles and dark circles are disappearing...I feel great. This guy can say whatever he wants results are results and I am not making this up. If it's BS then how can you explain this?

Answer: 6-12 months, tops. Question: hwo long before the info about C-15 gets at least somewhat debunked.
You mention it helps with Copd? Can you elaborate?
Great question here you go: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30661707/
Have you looked into Mullein?
You mentioned that C15 is being produced in the body naturally but that we cannot produce enough of it I may be questioned that because when people eat like potatoes and rice and pasta and bread and all that kind of stuff they do not feed the body what it really needs naturally if we instead eat only vegetables like cooked spinach or maybe roasted and maybe a lot of other vegetables the Earth that kind and maybe some food and stuff natural stuff then maybe we can actually produce enough of it what is taking that?
We’d have to eat raw dairy full fat but that just isn’t an option these days with all the processing going on the feed for the cows etc
It's not the C16 you consume that's inflammatory. The C16 in your blood as an inflammatory marker is made endogenously, not consumed exogenously.

100g of butter = 50mg to 100mg of fatty15. That's a lot of butter, but totally feasible if you're on a keto diet.
If its made in a lab its more than likely synthetic containing alcohol which goes straight into the brain & may cause aggresive brain tumors, also never know what else has been added into it if its liposomal. Id be happy to get some and see whats inside it

What would you consider an effective therapeutic dose of fatty15?
Research by Dr. Venn-Watson indicates that a 100-200mg daily dosage of C15:0 is ideal for reaching a target blood value of 10-30µM.5 Fatty15 hits the mark with its 100mg, once-daily supplement dosage.
I take one capsule daily personally, I would start there

you said C15 triggers mTOR? do you mean C15:0 activates AMPK and INHIBITS mTOR?
My bad: C15:0 activates AMPK and inhibits mTOR, both of which are core components of the human longevity pathway
Where can we get c15 supplements ? I already eat grass fed cheddar cheese but I don’t know if I get enough of c15.
Online is the only place I’m able to get it, look for fatty 15
One ounce of cheddar cheese contains 90 mg of pentadecanoic acid (C15:0), almost the daily dose of those pills.
Which brand is recommended?
Fatty 15 is the only one I know
Is C15 in Full Fat Kiefer?
No, C15:0 is not a full-fat kefir. C15:0, also known as pentadecanoic acid, is a type of saturated fatty acid found in some full-fat dairy products like milk, butter, and certain animal fats. It is being studied for its potential health benefits, such as anti-inflammatory and metabolic effects.
Full-fat kefir, on the other hand, is a fermented dairy product rich in probiotics, made from milk and kefir grains. While full-fat kefir may contain small amounts of C15:0 due to its dairy content, they are not the same thing.
Where to get it?
Online Fatty 15
Tell me how to get C15
Eat moderate dairy fats and supplement with fatty15
Just wondering what kind of Milk or Butter do Dolphins eat?
Dolphins get it from WHOLE FISH, not the parts of fish that we usually eat.
Asian and Mediterranean diets do use a lot of whole fish and fish sauces.. So, they are getting this, even if they are not using a lot of grass fed dairy.
In our culture, this is a big deficiency.
Thanks, so what is best way to get it if you’re plant based whole food?
Correct and what we are seeing is that the fish are becoming smaller and have less and less C15:0 I
I am using the Fatty 15 supplement 100mg daily
Is butter better than Ghee? how can i increase my C15 intake?
I would take the supplement just to be sure
Sour cream too
I eat raw goat and sheep milk cheese and it is also in there.
Yea you are correct, but not enough
Aren't most goat and sheep gras fed... where our dairy farms, and beef, is grain fed.
This could make a real difference.
What about muscle wasting with metformin ?
That is exactly the problem with taking Metformin if you are not pre- or full diabetic
Not as much the waisting, but more waisted workouts
How about dairy cream or butter from organically grass fed cows?
Great but it won’t get you to desired levels
Yes on the right track
hey Mr. NCS. You left out so much. What is this saturated fat made from - you mentioned whole milk but don't drink it... So what foods DO contain it? Where do we get C15? Next time before posting a video can you please have someone with common sense review it and go over what you left out. thank you sir.
I take fatty 15, because I’m not doing Keto so I don’t consume enough dairy products, our fish doesn’t have enough our food unless you live on a farm and have access to farm to fork data, might not be clean enough to get your C-15 from
But I will include a list of foods and how much C-15 you can expect to get from the products
@@TheVisserPodcast thanks, you're the best!
I heard 1/2 ounce of pecorino Romano cheese gives a daily supply of C 15. Yes? No?

@@TheVisserPodcast I only recently heard of C 15. What would you suggest to get the MDR of C 15. Thanks.
So what food is highest in c15?
As far as the research suggest we need the supplement to get enough of C15
Need to supplement
@@TheVisserPodcast, butter will do the trick.
Just eat fatty meat and fish, we evolved eating this stuff.
Just make sure you analyze the “farm to fork” track, because it could affect your health negatively
I’m talking about how they were fed, their environment, anti-biotic usage etc etc all this could be detrimental to our health.
It’s a subtle improvement felt after time, the biggest impact you can make on health far and above fine tuning your supplement regime is: Optimizing your weight, Resistance training and improving your VO2 max nothing else and i mean nothing else comes close
1 spoon of grassfed ghee. Who would have thought it?
Not that simple - You have to look at the bioavailability of Ghee; It’s a good start
is it not same as vitamin b5
No it’s not these are two different things
If your total daily fat content is high, you will not have high levels of C15 due to type of microbiota in the gut. It’s the gut bacteria that synthesize the C15. A few studies show this. One test compared 5% dietary fat with 35% dietary fat and 70% dietary fat (plus they use different types of fat).
Result: “the concentration of C15:0 decreases as the dietary total-fat content increases (p < 0.05); a ~30% increase in dietary total-fat resulted in a ~35% decrease in circulating C15:0 concentration.”
It didn’t matter what type of fat used. As the total daily fat content rises - the less C15 synthesized. We need the correct gut bacteria to break it down, where it is then usable.
"concentration of C15:0 decreases " does not mean total C15:0 decreases
@@TheVisserPodcastNo, all blue zones style of eating is NOT high protein. It is always plant based, but also not vegan or vegetarian (except Linda Loma). They eat a bit of everything. Italy, Greece, Spain eat much less butter than other fats like olive oil. They eat hard and soft cheeses though. Anyway it is diet with less protein then Northern Europe and Asia or Americas.
Snake oil, this study has been so bias. Yeah I am going to take a drug from a study done by the owner who profits from it. Just eat whole food with animal meats. This is for vegans.
Luckily there are now countless independent studies that are confirming the findings. I also know that when you are researching non-pharma as in supplements funding is hard to come by.
"You need to take more than 5 mg per mililiter"...? No sense at all.

Worst video ever
You might try to think about giving a reason for your comment!
It seems a little incomplete as it is.
Otherwise, it will be the worst comment ever!
In this episode we are comparing C15:0 to these compounds that are current being used in the longevity space by researchers such as David St Claire of Harvard and dr Peter Attia to name just two
There is no reductionism here
@@TheVisserPodcast hahaha, there are people on this thread stating that they are ordering c15 because of this video. Why don’t you try diving into the quantum biology before trying to muddle around into the bio chemistry? It is extremely reductionist to attribute single compounds to any physiological response, positive or negative. Metformin does not “help” people with diabetes, it merely delays their neuropathy.
Will work on it, thanks
