I think you'll make a lot of people very happy with this video! Hair is quite a beast to tackle for beginners. I suggest to everyone to make a separate blend file and save your hair profiles and braids and whanot in there, build up an asset library. 😉
For anyone who is wondering how to convert your curve to a mesh to do uv and stuff make sure you're in object mode ‣ click on object (right beside add) ‣click on convert ( near the bottom of the list)‣ then choose the one you want. don't forget to remesh! I've been struggling for more than an hour with it so if i can spare anyone the headache i'm glad
Thanks. I think I saw the answer or video somewhere else with the solution for this simple problem but I didn't remember it, with so many videos the that I watch.
Im not even a 3d artist and this was so cool i had to watch through and give a like. Ive played in blender a little and it was incredibly hard so seeing u do all this was just too cool!
Look, Aram, I don't freaking know what kind of magic you're working on the video, but only by following your tuts I was able to actually TAME THOSE CURVES!!! THANK YOU SO LOVELY MUCH!!!
Thanks so much!!! I learned to use curves to make hair, but only sticked to basic round shapes for the circle. The way you reshaped it is so detailed!! And the trick for extra hair? GENIUS, thank you
Perfect timing! I *just* started a project that needs curly hair, and I was scratching my head on how to do it. Your tutorials really hit all the key points I've been struggling with. Please keep 'em coming! =)
15:04 The object being deformed by the curve modifier jumps because the first point on the curve is not at the curve object origin. You can fix this by doing a Set Origin on the curve, or by deleting points on the wrong side of the origin, etc.
Best hair tutorial ever. Easy to follow, easy to digest. I use the first method for realistic hair, but with hair cards. Really love how easy that braid was!!
All your tutorials are so good Aram, you show alot of small things other tutorials on the same topics usually dont. So glad I came across your channel!
It was really nice to see such an in-depth demo of this. In most tutorials, I see the focus on building the curves but never placing the strands. Thank you for showing your beautiful hair process!😊
this is exactly what I needed! thank you! ended up staying up late last night just watching your videos while sculpting. I'm new to this but have been working professionally in animation for 6 years, Ive wanted to pick up a new art medium and thought sculpting could be it. so far I have loved it but Im only a month in.
OH MY GOD, THIS TUTORIAL IS BLEW MY MIND, I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT OF MAKING HAIR THIS WAY, I WOULD HAVE USED THE PARTICLE SYSTEM AND FINALLY GIVEN UP BLAMING MY MACHINE. THANKS ARAM
btw if you just installed blender you might not see the "curve spirals" option for the curly hair part, that's bc you have to press edit on the top left and then click preferences. then click add ons and press add curve extra objects and install it to whatever folder you want and it should pop up
I've been learning modeling and animation for about 3-4 months. Hair and clothes have been extremely difficult for me. I've tried particle system hair, and I've tried the new hair system added in 3.3. I've struggled with both. Combing and styling are just not something I am good at. However, the method you show here, while it takes time and attention to detail, appears to be straight forward and simple to grasp the concept. I'm looking forward to practicing this method. I can't imagine trying to make braids and some of the other overlapping textures using particle systems or other methods. Thank you for this video.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Hair is the worst part for me trying to make 3d printed models. Ive been a little intimidated about starting to learn blender but this video made it seem so easy! Very beautifully done! You got yourself another subscriber because I'll be referencing these tutorials a lot in the coming weeks of practice. A+👍🏻
I just started with Blender and Finally after 3 weeks I am finish with the base mesh of the charakter. Now I wanted it to habe a Braid so I looked up some tutorials but I couldn't understand them becouse they were years old. I have been searching for dayysss. Now you heard my prayers, havent you? 🙏 thanks a lot
This was such a game changer for me! Yeah there are many tutorials out there but this one nailed it for me. I can't thank you enough for it! Certified badass!
thank you so much. this was so helpful. i think the hardest thing is getting the flow right. i struggle a lot to make hair look interesting but you helped me out a ton with this!
this looks so good! i wish i could find a video telling me how to do this kind of thing with the hair particle system blender has. making spikey hair, or even hair that just sticks together well, is SO MUCH EASIER in this way then the particle system, but it loses out on that slight touch of realism
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!! i finally found hair really good explained sculpting method. im curious, how many hair sculpting methods are the most hard, but still the coolest and realistic?
Waw ! It's amazing ! It greatly helps me, thank you very much! There is something I didn't understand: I when you position the strand of hair on the sphere base mesh, do you use a particular method to constrain it so as it is positionning exactly where you want, or do you just move it in different angle of views until the strand of hair is where you want? I have another question, please: once you have created your hair, how do you create its material? Thank you in advance for your answer!
Thank you so much for your tips! All the tips you have been giving is all I need to move to blender and use it as my main sculpting tool. I love zBrush, but I'll give a chance for blender

Where ever I go I end up with her video 🥇
15:04 The object being deformed by the curve modifier jumps because the first point on the curve is not at the curve object origin. You can fix this by doing a Set Origin on the curve, or by deleting points on the wrong side of the origin, etc.
yeah! thanks, I forgot to do that😊👍
Wait is this how I can fix the curve twisting at odd angles?!
can you explain please?
I have seen a number of videos about hair but they all lack some or other information, but here you covered it all, every detail. Thanks for sharing!
Best hair tutorial ever. Easy to follow, easy to digest. I use the first method for realistic hair, but with hair cards. Really love how easy that braid was!!
