Losing weight does crazy things to your face. I lost nearly 200-lbs and I never knew I had a jawline or prominent cheekbones. The efficacy of mewing depends on age and consistency. It won't cause significant skeletal changes if you're older than late teens, maybe early twenties. It does improve the submental region though regardless of how old you are.
A good jawline is a result of 3 variables. 1. Born with good facial genetics 2. Low body fat 3. A diet that requires chewing ones food over a period of years. If you're not blessed genetically, low body fat and chewing lots of beef jerky and gum will at least get you an above average jawline.
Genetics is probably not as big a factor as proper muscular development and skeletal development during childhood. People that are fat and/or eat highly processed diets are very unhealthy people and likely do not develop properly.
Hey courtney, fellow scoliosis patient here, the neck thing is actually very good, and it helps against it, there is also one for the back that helps correct back curvatures that one can buy from amazon too.
I can appreciate that she's trying to help people who struggle with poor facial genetics, but let's be completely honest about this, none of these options(apart from the tip on losing weight, you still need to have good jaw bone structure to show once that weight is gone)can make a noticeable difference to your jawline/chin. The only option with real results is plastic surgery. I've tried every single technique under the sun, including mewing, those rubber jaw exercisers that you chew on, been breathing through my nose my entire life and I've even lowered my body fat to 17%...still no jawline, simply because I lack the bone structure. I'm saving money and will be going for a wraparound jaw implant, life's too short to not be happy with what you see in the mirror.
17% is still kinda high for an aesthetic focus. Try to hit 12%. Also men in general harbor more face fat than women so if you really want a super lean/model face you want to be sub 10% body fat
@@hassanraja3212 I'm not gonna starve myself for a few mm of jawline, sub 10% body fat is both dangerous and very hard to maintain, the effort and health risks that come with being that lean are far greater than spending 5k on an implant that's fitted in 30 minutes under local anesthesia and almost zero side effects.

Jaw exercises are like ab exercises if you have stubborn belly fat. Ultimately, the solution boils down to cardio. No amount of jaw clenching or sit-ups is going to burn away the fat. You need to get your heartrate up through anaerobic exercise.

If you have an overbite or underbite, you have to get it treated. If you have all around weak facial features, you might wanna get silicone jaw implants but please, get cheek augmentation too otherwise you'll end up looking like a cartoon. The last alternative is derma fillers but they are temporary. This is AFTER you reach 12% body fat though. Also, mewing and jaw smashing doesn't work if you have the above mentioned flaws. Just typing all that out made me laugh out loud. It's hilarious what men have to go through just to get a match on Tinder
"you guys seem to care about that" (being taller) as if women don't? Many 5' tall women have a fetish for 6'+ men. It's very confounding. I've been using the Blue Wave for therapy for a neck injury for several years. It is amazing, highly recommend. Slowly stretches your neck. Lucky for me to have a sharp jaw line. I wear a full beard, cut to about 1/4" (no more) and sharp lines, no lower or middle neck beard. Touch it up before dates and trim it 2-3x per week.
People that sleep with their mouth open will learn that they do it because either there will be complaints of snoring, or they will be suddenly woken up multiple times during the night because their tongue collapses and they can't breathe. Mouth taping is definitely a thing but I prefer years of practice with meditation, and using my body pillow to go under my chin so that my next stay straight and my mouth stays shut. If you sleep on your back it can be difficult and if you sleep on your left side just know your liver is so big and so heavy that it is putting pressure on your lungs and your heart so you are decreasing the efficiency of your sleep. Just saying
Kissing the sky technique has worked for me for years along with keeping lean and fit . a bonus to this is that if you're sad and cry just look up and you're crying will stop, really. This video really drives something home coming from someone who looks like a super model (Courtney) is that we really are very conscious of our looks and ailments and forgetting that nobody really notices until you voice your concerns, crazy isn't it?!
I wasn't a mouth breather until Covid. The mask kept blowing air into my glasses and fogging them up. So I got into a habit of breathing out my mouth, but breathing downward and I haven't broken the habit despite no longer using masks.
At the point of me putting in this comment, I'll be going back to college after a five year hiatus. I'll be doing sports, so I intend to talk with some of the adults about effective ways of helping my jawline and the overall look on my face. This is because every time I look in a mirror, I just hate my face. It's too fat and I have a double chin which despite being small just looks ugly to me, and then when I look at my brothers face, it's so much more refined and handsome.
Mouth tape has improved my jawline and straightened my teeth. I also sleep WAY better each night and don't wake up "dry" in the morning. Could not recommend enough.
This is a good video, Courtney! I definitely rock the beard because I do have a baby face, and one girl I had a thing with pinched my cheeks and I was turned off!!
Nice video, thanks! Would be nice if you did one for other body parts as well. Abs/stomach region for example. One tip for that that I heard years ago is this: Where ever you are right now, suck in your "gut". Standing, sitting, whatever, just suck in your gut right now. This is your default. Reduce the urge to push out your stomach in a relaxing fashion as much as possible. Try and remain at default as much as possible, and it will become natural.
@@Dylan-ko2gj not talking about stomach fat reduction. Talking about the difference between not letting gut hang out in a relaxed fashion all the time. Similar to her comparison of mouth breathing vs nose breathing. Try it right now with whatever position your in. Don't need to flex. Just need to suck it in, and make that your default. See how long you can hold it, and then try and keep it like that as much as possible
@@suge8347 keeps your core tight, and in a more appealing natural state then to just having your gut hang out. Again, comparing to Courtney' example of mouth breathing, if you just have your jaw hanging loose, and your tongue adding to that weight as well as gravity, then it tends to sag your jaw, and you get more of a double chin thing going on. Same goes for just letting your gut hang out. You're stretching your skin out, your gut will get more and more pronounced, and your core will be weaker. Just simply sucking in your gut and making that your natural default will help to combat this.
Not hundred percent sure but, I think when you suck in, you work your transverse abdomi muscles which is underneath your rectus abdominus(abs). Arnold was quite famous for doing the vacuum pose but not sure if that creates the same result. But from experience tucking in definitely makes you look slimmer
In my opinion if you wants that crazy line, do neck exercises but not fighter type of exercises, they are great to give you that size neck plus do neck extension with a rope and bite that rope and workout using this way, it’s extremely effective. But don’t forget maybe the next day you can’t eat anything 😂 you can’t move your jaw at all because of soreness
I've ways been a nose breather and noticed that my tongue rests on the top of my mouth. I thought I was broken, but turns out I was just always mewing lol

Is a sharp jawline attractive on women? I mean for men sure, but I don't know if women benefit from it as much (unless they weight too much and their face is round like a cookie)
Courtney - random question, but how often/for how long do you use that black neck extender thing? I bought one but can't find any hard and fast rules on proper use, and some people say it damaged them so I'm scared to overdo it.
Courtney, do you think your TMJ may perhaps be related to all the jaw exercises you've done? (EDIT: it's just a question I'm asking myself, it could be a coincidence of course.)
That kissy move seems like it would have the exact opposite effect of tightening your jawline. Maybe it works for younger folks but for people in their 40's and older, you're literally stretching your skin over jaw bone loosening it and are probably speeding up the process of sagging jowls before any type of chiseled jaw, lol.
Please make it clear that there's no scientific evidence yet that mewing is associated with a better jawline / mouth structure. most if not all mewing evidence is anectdotal and comes from guys / girls growing from teenage years to adulthood.
@@CourtneyRyan sorry haha I got a bit nervous thinking at how many times I've heard people randomly suggesting to do mewing without even researching a bit beforehand. Forgot you're a smart girl :P

question: I have a round face and i think building jaw muscles make my face more round looking so will this apply to anything ? (i mean for jaw exercises and such)
Sounding like a gym bro.... you don't have to go through a bulking phase and a cutting phase to put on weight, you just have to learn how to balance carbohydrates and never decrease the amount of protein you consume. And if you want a better jawline of course don't drink your calories and don't drink your protein
You shouldn't be getting fat during a bulk. It can counter act your progress because it can lower your test levels when you put on body fat. As long as you are above 8 percent body fat you will be fine with a bulk.
The most important tip is conscious anorexia - Abandon all junk food, eat only home made food, twice a day (breakfast and dinner), and most importantly: eat 50% less in each meal than a normal person would. It worked for me. I'm a little over 5'11' (almost 6ft) and I weigh only 52kg (115 pounds)
@@rishabhyadav7716 Sure. But I'm 31 years old, and I've maintained this weight since I was 24. My weight is stable (doesn't increase or decrease too much). For six years my weight has fluctuated between only 51 and 54 kgs. So you get my point - a low but *stable* weight is healthy.
@@Vivek_Z nah man, I was your weight and am your height; it's not healthy, now i'm stable at around 133 (flutuate between 130-135). At 133 I'm like at the very minimum of a "normal" BMI (I think 18.5). You are indeed medically slightly underweight. If you don't feel like shit at this weight, then great, but for me I was at my most anxious when my I weighed 118 @ 5'11( our body secretes more adrenaline/norepinephrine if we are too "underfed"; it's supposed to make us be fully awake and search for food).
Great video and topic, Courtney, I'm definitely gonna do some of those jaw exercises. And besides, and I'm sure some guys will agree, a nice, defined jawline makes a woman look more attractive too.
I bet this one won't be on the list but eat more fish and liver so that you have more vitamin A so that you don't build the mucus up in your nose so much that you can actually breathe through your nose and in turn you can rest your tongue a lot better and it will look more natural and less tense which will tell a girl that you are in a calm state. Plus what human being likes being around people that breathe out of their mouth, that can be extremely off-putting and a major turnoff for both genders
I'm actually beginning a cut phase as part of my training routine so I'm pretty excited to see the results! Btw Courtney, have you heard of SMP tattooing for men who lose their hair? I know your thoughts on bald guys isn't negative but was just wondering if you'd endorse the idea of getting a hairline tattoo for any guys who are thinning/balding?

If you have all around weak facial features, you might wanna get silicone jaw implants but please, get cheek augmentation too otherwise you'll end up looking like a cartoon. The last alternative is derma fillers but they are temporary. This is AFTER you reach 12% body fat though. Also, mewing and jaw smashing doesn't work if you have the above mentioned flaws. Just typing all that out made me laugh out loud. It's hilarious what men have to go through just to get a match on Tinder
Drake is a huge example of what a beard can do for you
"you guys seem to care about that" (being taller) as if women don't?
Super model? Come on... She is okay with some makeup.
@@aronhighgrove4100 she's definitely more than 'ok'. Alot more
How long did it take for you to notice the effects from the kissing technique
There is a product called Jawzrsize to help your jawline. There are some reviews this on UA-cam.
Losing weight will do wonders to bringing out one's jawline
Thanks for everything as u r the one who improved my style and lifestyle
LOVE ❤️❤️FROM INDIA
🥰🥰
good to see other Indians on this forum.
Thanks for this video and the links! Very helpful!
Great tips, I’m definitely trying the lean back kiss and mewing. Thanks
Doing face pulls with cables at the gym is the best way to get rid of tech neck.
Nice video, thanks!
Would be nice if you did one for other body parts as well. Abs/stomach region for example.
One tip for that that I heard years ago is this:
Where ever you are right now, suck in your "gut". Standing, sitting, whatever, just suck in your gut right now. This is your default. Reduce the urge to push out your stomach in a relaxing fashion as much as possible. Try and remain at default as much as possible, and it will become natural.
Do not do that. Stomach fat is only reduced by diet and exercise to be in a calorie deficit
@@Carsickness86 Why? What is the benefit of doing this?
Happy Wednesday, Courtney!
Chewing gum helps so much with me you guys should try it.
But doing facial exercise form wrinkles over the face ?
I do calisthenics body mass and it hurts like hell even though I do over 120 push-ups,
90 squats,
90 stand up ab work outs
90 back workouts in two different ways twice a day
4 to 5 days a week
I haven't thought to use an ice roller before bed. I bought one at your recommendation a few months ago and I love using it in the morning. I should get into the habit of doing it at night too!
Any tips for places (online or in person) to help with finding what facial hair style works best for me?
What about telling your opinion for back to school outfits??
I definitely needed this video, thank you Courtney ! 😊
MEWING, Courtney, have you been practicing the Micro Cosmic Orbit? That's a part of completing it. I also noticed my posts disappear soon after I post them, and that deliberate act is telling.
Regards
thank you for the practical video Courtney
hey how do you breathe while exercising in the gym or go for a walk?
I breathe in Rhythm, inhale through your nose exhale through your mouth. You want to take in your maximum oxygen when you are getting ready to begin the rep.
I have sleep apnea and your videos alway put me to sleep. Thank you.
The 1-5 Works.
________
These 2 are Questionable - At best.
6.) Wouldn't' Qualify *Chewing gum* (Now mewing) as something - *New.*
7.) *Facial tools* is a 50/50
For men - Depends on a variety of reasons.
Mewing not only helps your jawline, but it also fixes overbite which could save you some treatment prescriptions from the orthodontist
When I quit smoking, I went through a chewing gum phase. It changed my face and 20 years later, the changed face persists.
Hi Courtney . .love you content
Pls make a video on bare minimum needs to expect in a relationship
thank for really good content😇 make video about shorter hairstyles because there is tons of options actually and would be nice about face shapes and what of hairstyles are best for each of them 🥰
I love your personality Courtney
You also forgot chewing gum. I started chewing gum more and noticed more definition in my jawline
I don’t think so! I’ve always been a teeth grinder unfortunately and struggled with TMJ long before I started my exercises 😂 good question!
Do the exercises now people don't be like me and need a chiropractor. I wish I had spent 5 minutes a day doing these things when I was younger.
It's kinda frustrating for the 30 +. People didn't told us these stuff
for me jaw line in womens is super important. Will be with woman that dont have good jaw line, like models
I like it when you post your videos, broken down in chapters! But great video still
Please make it clear that there's no scientific evidence yet that mewing is associated with a better jawline / mouth structure. most if not all mewing evidence is anectdotal and comes from guys / girls growing from teenage years to adulthood.
Of course! I mention something similar to that and linked an article so people can do their own research lol
@@CourtneyRyan sorry haha I got a bit nervous thinking at how many times I've heard people randomly suggesting to do mewing without even researching a bit beforehand. Forgot you're a smart girl :P
I've been doing mewing properly for 2 months and no results, wasted a lot of my time with that nonsense
Funny thing. I started to start doing some "Mewing" techniques yesterday and today after doing my yoga. Good timing! 😀👍
Get the masthiha gum, dude that will work out your jaw so hard.
It's like sap that becomes gummy when you chew it and you have to chew harder than normal gum.
@@Aaron-kj8dv say that out loud! Mastic gum is the nr.1 thing you can do for your jawline. After getting lean of course...
If everything fails then there is surgeries you can get to spot reduce fat around the neck/chin area...but see a doctor about it first
Yo, I recommend four things. Get liposuction on you neck from a competent surgeon. Chew big wads of gum, breath your nose and keep your posture correct.
I only get a visible jawline when i'm underweight as in bmi sub 18, beard game it is!
Wear a mouth guard overnight
Courtney you already talked about this!
Spice up your videos! New topics and more camera angles!
What if you have a weak chin?
just the video i needed
question: I have a round face and i think building jaw muscles make my face more round looking
so will this apply to anything ? (i mean for jaw exercises and such)
Work out in gym and do jaw exercise it will help
I'm in bulking phase, so I can't have a jawline 🥺
Stay strong🤭
@@joewyenz5273 🥺 okie
Sounding like a gym bro.... you don't have to go through a bulking phase and a cutting phase to put on weight, you just have to learn how to balance carbohydrates and never decrease the amount of protein you consume. And if you want a better jawline of course don't drink your calories and don't drink your protein
One day! 😂
You are under weight
Thats unhealthy
1:33 oh yeah, Kiss the Sky i call it.
Works very good.
How many seconds and sets you did?
Falim gum is perfect for developing a chiseled jawline. It's like $8 on Amazon.
My cat did mewing his whole life, and I never saw a difference!
Less salt, less refined sugar
Spartangum healped me a bunch in my journey🤙
7:48 there’s also another variation called suction mewing that makes it easier 👌🏾
Great video and topic, Courtney, I'm definitely gonna do some of those jaw exercises. And besides, and I'm sure some guys will agree, a nice, defined jawline makes a woman look more attractive too.
Courtney do a Patrice O’Neal video on a relationship topic reaction I believe it would be very popular and interesting considering your audience.
doesnt this also apply to women?
I bet this one won't be on the list but eat more fish and liver so that you have more vitamin A so that you don't build the mucus up in your nose so much that you can actually breathe through your nose and in turn you can rest your tongue a lot better and it will look more natural and less tense which will tell a girl that you are in a calm state. Plus what human being likes being around people that breathe out of their mouth, that can be extremely off-putting and a major turnoff for both genders
"It makes you look taller, all you GUYS seem to really care about that"
Lol
I was expecting to see a jawline difference, but they look exactly the same!
Another one besides losing weight is having a flat pillow and sleeping face up it keeps turkey necks at bay
And the sleep lines as well…
I'm actually beginning a cut phase as part of my training routine so I'm pretty excited to see the results! Btw Courtney, have you heard of SMP tattooing for men who lose their hair? I know your thoughts on bald guys isn't negative but was just wondering if you'd endorse the idea of getting a hairline tattoo for any guys who are thinning/balding?
Why does, mouth tape while you sleep, seem like a bad idea?
