  • In this video i make 3 mallets in white oak recycled step treads. The first one was made to give away at the in store demo i did at the Filson shop in NYC on May 18 2017. The second one was made mostly at that Demo. The third one was completed at the new shop in the upstate NY!
Very big Thank You!! to Filson and the Friends, old & new that came out to a wonderful evening!! www.filson.com

I thought that it was really badass of Jimmy to offer to hangout with the guys afterwards, and didn't just pack up and leave immediately... I've noticed that Jimmy seems to always have time to chat and get to know the people he meets. That's why he has so many friends that have wonderful stories, because he's taken the time to listen to each of them. In this day-in-age when so many people are in a rush and there are very few people that would give up their time to talk to someone they don't yet know. For Jimmy to be willing to do that... it's really admirable.

Mr. Diresta, I've just recently started out in this woodworking journey. I'm a 57 year old newbie and have watched and read countless videos and mags on woodworking in the past year. I'm a native New Yorker living in too hot Florida. Watching you work has been such a joy for me and more importantly a great learning experience. I want to thank you for sharing your great talent. If I have a quarter of that talent, I know I'll go far in this woodworking adventure.
    Thank you.

I trust you left a sufficient amount of sawdust on the clothing so the hipsters will wear them like a badge of honor. Thanks for another fun video.

Hand Tool Rescue You're not going to the right stores. in particular ones that have $50 tee shirts, and $500 tin coats/pants. Just kidding. Ya it's a New York thing. Also, you see he just had to walk across the street to go from his shop to the Filson shop.

I just started working with the lathe and turning wood, I made a truncheon yesterday. And watching him mill the mallet with the hole in it, actually terrified me. I'd never try that, ever. But the fact you, Diresta, did it without any real fuss was cool nonetheless
