I love this version. Playing live myself, the look Luke gives when he realises he's sung the same verse twice makes it for me. It's real live music at its best. No artificial effects, just skill.
All of the bands have sung this song are great but the Dubliners and Luke singing this song put our hearts out. Such his strong feeling had put into this song. Such Luke's voice is ravishing!!! He is an extraordinary Folk Singer from Ireland to the World. No one beats him.Never!😘💖👍☘☘☘

The bands of today will be forgotten when they stop playing. But look at luke,Dead(God rest his soul)But he is still remembered years later and his legacy will still be remembered even after every other band of today has died away.
Luke sings one of the most difficult (and best) songs in the World with so much ease an passion it is truly amazing. Try it and see for yourself. Luke, You ‘re unique talent and heartfelt passion will never, ever die. God bless you and God bless Ireland 🇮🇪
Have watched this video hundreds of times, and never noticed until I just read your comment. However, I could listen to the late, great Mr Luke Kelly sing the same verse for the whole duration of the song. What a truly wonderful performer he was. Such a talent. Got to see The Dubliners perform in Reading, around 2 weeks before Barney McKenna passed away. Such a shame.
This epitomised the love of what in my opinion the love Luke had for the english language. Try saying this slip jig never mind singing it and one quickly realises just how tricky this is. Luke does it with ease, majestically almost and with theatre. Its spectacular! How wonderful this version is. The definitive like many of Luke's deliveries, it's just wonderful.
