I like this approach to introducing operating systems. 10/10 for Diane for being computer literate and supporting the Geek. I love them both to bits. Keep at it guys.
The OS is NEVER going to make it out of N. Korea for reasons we all know why. Sadly we can't try the OS out since there are no download links that exist. But, someone can ATTEMPT to recreate the OS themselves, and even translate it in the original language. Sadly, that won't happen anytime soon...
+Cody The fox Actually,Red Star OS has been leaked. Hard to find, but findable. Hell, you can even install the damn thing if your good at guessing. However, the NK Gov. literally watches every installation over the Internet,so if someone happens to install it,on,say, their server (Why the hell would you want that, anyway?) And they happen to have it hooked up and browsing the North Korean Web, they have a high DDOS chance.
You guys should try D*** Vulnerable Linux next. Thanks for the awesome os videos too because without them I wouldn't know so much about Operating Systems!
I love seeing the water off ur deck thats cool, reminds me of a friends place in sydney. Also damn small linux is a very funny name. It keeps making me laught alot! Cheers from a fijian living in California, USA. I love computers and systems and your videos have opened me up to very many more. Many of the kids i teach lego robotics too also love your vids! Keep of the great work phillip and diana :)
The old way let us see Diana really well but not the screen as easily. This pic-in-pic way lets us see both. Where I do agree is the green screen, there's no point to it. I'd prefer if it was just a normal webcam pic-in-pic effect in the corner without the green screen, similar to Markiplier's videos, and only moved out of the way when relevant.
Hey man, I really like watching your videos, they're interesting and they also give me an insight of different operating systems, some of which I didn't even know about. However, I think your mother should probably try out some Windows Betas. Maybe Windows Whistler 2419, that might be interesting to her! Keep that work up bro :D
Nice to see your channel more active. Good video, the theme's not that nice and I agree that having editors and office isn't the best idea, just stick to one category. I would not want to use this distro. Can you please check you PMs on the ShiftOS forum, I need you to look at the storyline I'm working on.
Elton Fir I use a Desktop and a Laptop both of them are from about 2004 I got them free from my school upgrading and gave away 2 to me I upgraded them from xp have Linux Lite 1.0.8 and go on the internet great
Windows 7 at idle using 3-4GB? that doesn't sound right, my windows 7 doesn't even use 3GB when I'm using it, just doing simple tasks like email or internet browsing and it is 64-bit.
I got a windows 7 laptop with 16gb of ram, and on idle with nearly nothing running (only a few startup items too), it uses up 2GB of ram. I'm assuming this is more of a case of the OS detecting that I have more ram, and therefore less aggressive with the page file at idle

LOL at 4:41 9:02 Maybe it's good for hiding your stuff when your friend wants to see your secrets or something. The internet has ruined me. :-D
You didn't misheard she said "I like big things!" Wow she's a very cool person! OSFirstTimer Your Mum is AWESOME!
Jeremy974Gaming
Look up the phrase "That's what she said"
ComputerGenius10
He added an "?" at the end of the phrase thet means that a questionnable and answerable thing
omfg he ment the phrase not whether or not he misheard dumbo
Jeremy974Gaming I meant it like "Should I bring this in here?"
this is a very satisfying channel for some reason
"I like big things."
"I like it all stretched out."
Such a saucy mum.
Ryan N don't forget the following line "he's cute"
It's very evil-minded

"I like big things" -OSFirstTimer's Mum
She sure likes big things ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
THATS WHAT SHE SAIDDDDDDD
I agree with the lady the start menu is counter intuitive I also would have assumed the text editor was in office.
Great. Nice relations with your mom. It is also really interesting to watch at people who are away from linux and comupers.

finally,an episode..
awesome background music for the beginning!
Great video Philip and Diana. Keep the videos coming cause I love em'
6:57 thats kind of like how in Windows, in Tablet Mode, you drag an app to the bottom of the screen to close it.
I want that job...

Out the windows you can see the ocean. It must be awesome to live right on the coast of Australia.
Maybe, but if you live not on the coast I think it wouldn't be that great.
Wow. This is such a super tiny version of Linux.
How about Mum tries out Red Star OS, it's a Mac type Linux distro from North Korea.
The OS is NEVER going to make it out of N. Korea for reasons we all know why. Sadly we can't try the OS out since there are no download links that exist. But, someone can ATTEMPT to recreate the OS themselves, and even translate it in the original language. Sadly, that won't happen anytime soon...

There is no swear word that starts with "D". Don't know what you were trying to censor. "Dick", "Damn", and "Dammit" aren't swear words.
I'm planning to rebuild my DSL laptop. I actually love DSL for how fast it is on older hardware.
this youtube series is just awsome lol

How do I get that monitoring software
My Windows 7 PC uses about 1 GB when idle.
I think you should check your PC.
Yes 3 to 4 is insane but who knows he could be running sql server and or a webserver
Tom Dauria How would he be running a server on Windows? Usually Linux does that well, not Windows. :\
RoundDuckMan are you serious? You definitely can run a webserver and database server on the desktop version of windows. I have done it many times.
Tom Dauria Oh.
RoundDuckMan While I wouldn't recommend, WAMP does exist.
I love your mom but she's not really a novice user any more.
"I love your mom" and thats all I have to hear!
Me too.
Can you please get rid of the green screen, I like the old way, plus the green screen's a little cheesy. XD
***** Yeah, Tails FTW! XD

Anthony Kleine [formerly TWTWSU™] That would probably be good, too. :)
I agree also in this the green screen was buggy so yeah a normal webcam :)
+TOMYSSHADOW Plays Games Green Screen is more professional than shaky cam method they used to use.
Auto-Update takes up a lot of space i think because it has to constantly update files.
Windows 7 uses 3 GB when idle? Doubt it, unless you've got a ton of processes running
Windows 7 needs 512MB RAM to install and 168MB RAM to even boot it and boot up some software.
Maybe he meant windows 10?
finaly you made a new video
what happened to 1080p

Could you do elementary os freya on your channel?
I want a distribution fitting on a single floppy disk, that would be awesome.
1.44mb may be too small.
Technically a Gigabyte is 1000 MB, a Gibibyte is 1024 MiB, but as windows mix the two up, you're let off. ;)
Thanks for the video
It's kinda weird to think that this linux distro has a curse word in its name
Darn small linux
15:45 these promits are because of old version of firefox, I had the same thing with firefox on Windows 98

Diana should try a powerpoint os like Presentasia OS.
her last task should be "Open vim and then exit it without the x button"
Don't blame her, DSL can be frustrating haha.
"maybe you're not supposed to play iit.." Why is the game there then?
Why am I watching this?
Georgij Tovarsen idk 😋
Actually I Would not use Damn Small Linux for an every day use, but it is a good distribution to recover access on a partially "damaged" computer.
I think Phil just likes saying "D*mn Small"
Oh my fucking god. :"Damn" isn't a swear word. And to "Leetech", my parents allowed me to say it when I was 3.

My PC would collapse (2 GB of RAM)
I got a windows 7 laptop with 16gb of ram, and on idle with nearly nothing running (only a few startup items too), it uses up 2GB of ram. I'm assuming this is more of a case of the OS detecting that I have more ram, and therefore less aggressive with the page file at idle
