Whoever came up with the design of this station is a genius and the guy walking people through on the video is excellent with his description of everything
If you think your taxes are high now you know why! People that have private sector jobs don't get these luxuries why should people working on are tax money get these high end luxuries! Ridiculous!
6:34 If you look to the right of the big circle in the middle, the patch that says 'Queensland fire service' is my state, down in Australia! That's pretty cool to see.
Dang man... I used to live there and was a volunteer for a long time as well (if you are still around, Hi Dewitt!). this sure is a massive step up from the small place we had in town on the corner for so many years.
Wow station requirements sure have changed since I was a firefighter in the 90's. One shower bathroom, gear racks in the engine bay and everybody sleeping in the same room, regardless of gender on bunk beds. I would assume some stations still have this. Very well done video.
I am 14 years old and absolutely love fire fighters I have read so much, I thank everyone who is part of first responders, I would love to be a firefighter
Could make a top about the coolest apparatus in service, the oldest still in service, the most technologically advanced, the most emblematic ones (maybe they appear in a movie or tv show), so on.
They must have a pretty good economy. They have 11 pieces of equipment and a huge station. Thats the biggest ive ever seen for 5000 people. A fire dept for 5000 is one station around 12000 sq ft.
@@HeroesNextDoor If you have a huge coverage area, it's not a very good idea to have all your equipment in one station. That totally screws your ISO rating and increases your average response time. They should have at least one satellite station.
@@ffjsb Agreed. Where I lived that had a big coverage area. They had 3 separate stations. They used to have 2, one north end, one south end. Town grew with new housing and they built a new station and staged the ladder truck in the middle and moved in one pumper from a station that had 3 pumpers. So they had no cost rather then the new building which was nothing fancy. So they had a station north end, south end and one in the middle. So response time would be "level" and it was a volunteer department. From one end of the town line to the next town line it was about 18 miles. Bigger is not always better.
@@HeroesNextDoor thank you for sharing lovely Monticello, IN. We have a lake house on Lake Shaffer and I know first hand these guys roll ALL the time! Population is ~ 5000, so quite big department with a lot of cool stuff/vehicles! Sure they run calls outside the city but you can't compare with the huge Departments in Central Europe or the big US Departments.
Another beautiful station. 👍 I like the proactive approach to the dangerous carcinogens many fire services around the world have been slow to get the information out about how dangerous the job really is. The station is set up great.
Phil Vdd what a surprise to see the station again! in August 2018 we were on vacation (rbnb) in Monticello! we have the memory of having been overtaken by several vehicles which went on an accident, an overturned semi-trailer. (08/17/2018) near Moab. 🚨 🚒 🚑 🚓 .

My dad was a volunteer firechief from 1972-1992. He talks the town in to get a firehouse for the town. When we had a fire in our town a fire department from the next town over had to come to our town to pick the fire out. I am the only female firefighter paramedic in my family.
