What a beautiful station ! It's very incredible to see that big station. I'm a French firefighter and I like to see your videos for discover your fire departments
I live in Northern Virginia just outside DC with 350 calls a day in the county and the largest station has an engine, tech rescue, tiller, battalion, two medics. Crazy how large that station is for how few calls.
Great episode, they really have almost everything and are prepared for many different calls. I live in a small town/village and our fire house does not have as many things. Only 15 minutes away in a little bigger town we have a little bigger fire house with 4 more trucks. I'm in this group called (fire cadets) were we train like fire fighters but not actual fires since we are anywhere from 14years old to 18 years old. At the end of the year we always go on trips to see other fire houses and learn what they may do differently. So far i've been to a military base and seen their fire hall, we got to travel 1 hour to a much bigger fire station then 2 hours to the big city with the biggest fire station. As someone who wants to become a first responder, either a fire fighter or paramedic i'm glad they have something like this around here.
In portugal fire stations with 20 cars are comuns, in my city (were my dad works h) has 1 urban fire engine, 2 wildland fire engine 2 tanker, 1 litlle urban fire engine 1 vehicle to car acidents and the rest are ambulances
I was actually expecting him to walk to another apparatus bay and show you his M1 Abrams tank while telling you that they also provide service to the National Guard ;-) Great episode but would have liked some more background information as why they perform so many tasks. I recon they started out with just fire trucks hundred years ago and other services were added later on to meat a demand. Did the demand suddenly rise or were the tasks transferred to this station? Keep 'm coming!
That's incredible that you did a tour of Millsboro, I live 10 minutes away in Laurel!! You should do a tour of Georgetown Fire Company they have a beautiful 95' Seagrave Aerialscope!!
Doesn't the state of Delaware provide each fire company with a substantial amount of funding each year? All the companies I've seen down there are extremely well equipped.
@@justuhking3605 we would need invites from those stations to make that happen. Fee free to have them contact us ASAP to set up a schedule cause it’s filling fast. Send invites to watchheroesnextdoor@gmail.com
That is a really cool Fire Company sir. They have a lot of pretty cool apparatus also. At the FD I'm trying to get into, they have an Engine from 1954 and they still drive it in parades and also as a demonstration piece.
They didn't have heavy equipment such as fire tank...looks like tank whit out cannon, and like bulldozer at front whit water cannon...lol they usually used for really big fires where's regular fire trucks can't help...
Hi from 🇨🇦 Canada love ur vids. Maybe u should try to come to Canada and make some videos from Canada to see the difference or the similar things. I think it would do well. God bless u and ur families(personal and work). And ty for ur service

Like i said in the station rigs I live in that area and I know I am protected by neighbors because half work there and the other half work at Frankford DE. Station 76
Great video, nice looking station, and a nice fleet. However, no disrespect towards the members or towards any departments for that matter, but with such a large and diverse fleet comes A LOT of diverse training! Training that must occur on a regular basis for members to remain proficient. Having a large fleet may look impressive but if the majority of members are not properly trained and proficient in the necessary skills, there’s no point in having it all.
They have 70’active members and the state fire academy is now fa away. One advantage of being a small state is that no one is too far from the state fire academy. I took basic firefighting there in the late 80’s while living in NJ.
So weird Fire Departments aren't paid for by taxes. I've only known fully paid fire departments near where I live for 4 decades up here in Massachusetts. It's good they're opening another station, hopefully closer to that beach area. 30 minutes?!? Yikes. Currently, my city has a population of 40,000 and has 71 career uniformed firefighters & Fire Officers, plus the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief and 2 secretarial staff. We have 5 separate stations. 3 of those stations has one primary Engine and maybe an older secondary/backup. 1 station houses 2 ambulances which is more or less centered in the city and then we have a Ladder truck in the main station and a Haz-Mat truck there. I think we have an older ladder as backup at another station still. They just broke ground on a new station and think the ambulance station and an Engine station will get moved into that as it's between the two. But seriously, response times are in minutes, to anywhere in the city plus we have 6 other surrounding communities that can each be in our city limits in under 5 minutes.
I can u derstand why they have all of the kit but no full time firefighters? Surely if they didn’t have a few appliances they could easily fund 4 full time for a few years
Is there a difference between a fire company and a fire department? Why is he a president not a chief? Is there a difference between a chief and a president?
I was half expecting to see another bay having a couple of Air National guard F-16's. That place is huge!
Thanks for coming and checking out the toys in my state Delaware I am proud of all the fire departments that keep us safe in my state
Nice Station. Was volunteer Fire/ Rescue/EMS for 30 years.
Millsboro fire Company your one stop shop for experience. Now this is how you serve your community great station.
A very forward thinking department. As the needs of the community have changed and evolved so has the department. Great video!

Delaware departments do a lot of mutual aid as well especially in Newcastle county. Sussex is a lot more of a rural community though.

Many departments in Delaware and in SE PA near the DE border have large tankers just like that. I'd say it's 50/50 on having pumps as well.

There’s a number of them in southern NJ also. They’re slowly disappearing though for a number of reasons.
