    You should do a video like "Don't miss these things" in the game. Things that aren't exactly firsthand knowledge to a new player, but are important things that may be easy to miss/not be aware of. As well as items that become unobtainable past a certain stage in the game. Good stuff!

    Here's a tip: Keep an eye out on how much materia you're holding when you get to the Northern Crater. Your other party members will pick up materia when you split them up and if you have too much materia when you regroup, you will lose materia. I lost a ton of mastered materia because I was not aware of the cap and because of it, I will never have Master materia in any category on my master save file.

    Get Matra Magic from the area around Midgar. This attack only costs 8mp, and will one-shot groups of enemies (provided you aren't under the effects of Fury), making early Limit farming MUCH easier. I farm the woods near Fort Condor, since most groups are either 5 or 3, and do enough damage to help you farm your 2nd limits (per level) easily as well. Also where you can first pick up Yuffie.

    Great advice brother I'm a new player just past the prison now. Some advice I would suggest is firstly never assume a npc can't be talked to over a counter for example I didn't know I could talk to a guy to get a battery off him! I had to cheat and Google how to power up the wall part. Mainly due to myself just not feeling it and wanted to rush the game a bit. Secondly a big one to, never assume just because there is no arrows on the screen that there just mustn't be exploration there I've found countless places just running behind cliffs or spamming ok button to find hidden areas which can give good loot or secret dialogue. Lastly I would suggest taking your time and talking to all NPCs and actually read the dialogue. I've sadly grown to custom to MMOs with bad dialogue with lame fetch quests to skip through reading just to be spoon fed an icon to take me to my next destination. FF vii isn't like modern spoon feeding games where there is no riddles or puzzles. With FF vii you will have to read and challenge yourself to think outside the box that is if you don't want to get lost between missions or lose cool exclusive rewards for solving npc riddles. Thanks for this video and hope this info helps others too!

    • @FrocketGaming
      @FrocketGaming  4 роки тому +2

      Great additions, thanks! The prison area is a spot you can get stuck in and certainly teaches you that the game isn't going to hold your hand through some segments.

    Use hypers on party members who need to use a limit breaks a number of times to get the next one. It gives fury status, which increases damaged recieved but fills the limit gauge way faster. Or click in the right stick on newer versions to have instant limit and full health. Also use tranquilizers on Vincent for boss battles. The sadness will reduce damage and slow progression of the limit gauge. Sometimes his transformation will use an elemental attack that just heals the enemy, so that sucks.

    • @refl3ktor
      @refl3ktor 3 роки тому

      The very quickest way to get limit breaks, is do [ cover + hyper + front row ] to Aerith, then have her cast [ fury brand ] which automatically maxes out the other players limit gauges.
      You can leave the Mithril Mine with Level 3/ Tier 2 limit breaks all acquired. This includes Yuffie, because you can find her in the forest by Ft. Condor, and then go back into the mine.
      It's good to go into Junon with angermax and doom of the living available! Rufus doesn't seem as threatening lolz

    You can totally kill the Midgar Zolom in the swamp your first time through. You have to have elemental combined with fire materia to reduce fire damage, usually while having Enemy Skill equipped on the same character. Fight until he hits with beta, then use beta to kill him. Hard to do, but very possible.

    • @TheOneAndOnLEE.
      @TheOneAndOnLEE. Рік тому +2

      I just started a replay of FF7. I just got to this part. It’s actually pretty easy if you do it right. Use tranquilizers on your party, put them all in the back row, and give whoever is holding the enemy skill materia the fire-elemental combination in their armor. If you steal a couple Graviballs in the train graveyard you can use those to cut its health by almost half. Then cast bio/bio 2 and let the poison eat away at it. Once it’s health drops under 1500 it will use beta if attacked, but it will also remove a team member, so don’t attack it with the character holding the enemy skill. You should survive as long as you have the fire-elemental combo. Once it casts beta, just cast it right back and you win. I was only level 15 and I had no problem doing it first try.

    Battle speed and ATB type are also difficulty settings as well. setting the battle speed to fast and ATB to active makes the game harder and setting it to battle speed to slow and ATB wait makes the game easier.

    • @FrocketGaming

  • @Fugazity
    @Fugazity Рік тому +1

    you can fight midgar salom the first time (giant snake), just be sure your characters have enemy skill on before entering, you only need to enter in sad mode, this allows you to resist better physical damage, all your party members on the back row, poison it with cloud or aeris, wait/defend all the time except to heal and / or if MS drops out of poison in which case you have to poison it again, and keep defending and only attack if you reach a limit brake. if you are lucky he will use Beta ES, if you learn it you'll have a powerful enemy skill who can one shot any enemy or group of enemies at a expense of miserable 20 MP, if i recall correctly, pretty early in the game.

    when you get to higher levels the materia combos really shine.
    Final Attack + Pheonix with auto revive you and do damage when that character dies.
    Absorb MP/HP + knights of the nine (or any multi hit spell like comet2 or the 2x cut materia) will greatly restore your resources.
    that materia that lets you cast death + add status materia will give you a chance to just insta kill things if you put it on your weapon.
    also the ghost of the gi tribe you fight with red xiii can be killed with an x potion or pheonix down. like most undead in the FF games they take damage from healing spells. always use that sense materia to see what you are fighting.

    Thanks for the video. I grew up on 8-bit and 16-bit systems and played a few JRPGs like Dragon Warrior and Chrono Trigger but couldn't get into the genre. I remember renting FF VII over a weekend and having the same, "It's cool, just not for me," feeling. I still wanted the action-platformer or arcade-esque experience I guess. I'm now using the Miyoo Mini + to go back and play some of the JRPGs I missed out on, mainly on PSone and SNES. Currently playing through Suikoden, FF VIII (which was my first real step into the genre), and FF VII. This is my 3rd time playing FF VII and this video definitely helped.

    Thanks for the video. I first played it back in '97 & then again later over years, & I still get some extra story. But my tip is to fight against the midgar worm, having enemy materia on a character, to get the explosion attack. It can take most enemies down with one hit, & it's a nice animation. You need to be able to take 1200 damage & the party member with the materia, may not be thrown out of combat.

    i know this is coming in a few years late, but a good way to lvl up kills for unlocking limit brakes. Is actully in the Mythril Mine right after getting past the Midgar Zolom aka giant snake. All you need is to have acquired the Enemy skill Matra Magic from Custom Sweeper just outside of Midgar. And once your in the Mythril Mine run around and try and get into battles with Crawlers. You sometimes will get 5 crawlers in one battle. Matra Magic should 1 shot all of them. and Bamb instant +5 kills for getting a new limit brake. Thats only like 16 battles of just 5 crawlers for Barret And Aeris to get their Lvl 2 Limit brakes for instant. plus most battles there have 2-5 monsters per fight. So even without the 5 Crawlers your still building up lots of kills. And Matra Magic should take out almost all but 1 or 2 monsters from the other random encounters. So it would go really fast, can unlock the first limit brake for each lvl for all party members but 3 (Cait Sith, Sid, Vincent) before getting to Junon.

    Fury Vs. Sadness. For many, Sadness is an easy status to pick; it reduces incoming damage, so it seems like a no-brainer. However, there's more to this status than just that. While it does reduce incoming damage, it also reduces how much limit gauge you gain per point of damage taken. Fury, by contrast, makes you hit less often but earn limit faster. The thing that differentiates each character from one another is the limit system, and each character has different limits that are more or less important to see. Sadness, with it's unmatched ability to hamper limit growth, can make it so certain strategies are actually harder to pull off.

    When I was on a Limit Break that I needed to use several times to get to the next, I would go outside Nibelheim and manipulate Valrons (they look kind of like a xenomorph with wings) and use it to hit the character whose Limit I wanted to use. It does a percentage of max HP so you can fill up a limit gauge REALLY fast, especially if you have Fury status.

    Back attack does the following:

    • @FrocketGaming

      The glitch itself (turning around) is just cosmetic, yes. Back attacks change the row order of your party, that's the function of back attacks.
