My prediction is that we’re gonna get a reveal of the Sora Amiibo, then we’ll see Sakurai’s soul finally be set free and scattered across the furthest confines of the universe

@Pownchao There is not going to be a patch for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after Sora was out, so it is unlikely for a patch for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
A Smash Ultimate expansion pass focusing on stages and music would make a lot of sense. Bring back all the still-missing stages and add new stage/music updates to celebrate new releases
Considering there are three open spaces on the stage select screen, more DLC stages would be great.

I think it’s fair to assume that smash ultimate as of right now was considered finished with all the DLC by Sakurai, so he stopped working on Smash. Now with the DLC it could be another last hurrah, but I don’t think they really cared about the three missing stages when smash 4 had wonky character select screens that didn’t fill the whole screen
They said 13.0.1 would have the last balance changes and I doubt they would go back on their word
there isn't going to be any more character balance patches, the last one we got, sakurai himself said it's the last patchbthe game is getting

I have to say that even if nothing comes of this how cozy and nostalgic it feels to be sitting here on a couch watching papa genos talk about smash bros leaks. All I need now is people talking about Doom Guy and Reimu getting in every 10-15 seconds or so.
I know it's probably just going to be a Sora amiibo update or adding something small like new spirits, but I would really like one more balance patch.

I could imagine a real story mode for smash like sub space. They could sell it like Super Luigi U as DLC and separate. With the roster complete, there won't be spoilers as well...

It's Geno for Smash to celebrate the remake of Mario RPG. Sakurai has prepared a special message that he's always wanted to include Geno for Smash and now is the perfect opportunity to surprise long time fans when nobody expected it. You heard it here first.

I doubt the new Samus amiibo, on the back of the box it also shows a different Bowser render as well, most likely whomever made the back took stock images from the company and didn't pay attention to what was an amiibo and what was not.

Honestly, as much as I'd love new Smash content because I LOVE the speculation and miss it, I'm not holding my breath.
Sakurai was adamant Sora was the last.
In regard to Smash Ultimate I am fully expecting there to be a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe style re release on the next gen Switch with added content. Also remember its highly possible they could announce the Direct tomorrow for this Thursday.
iirc the rumours for Switch 2 actually started years ago when someone noticed that Nintendo was posting 4k res screenshots to their twitter.

@PapaGenos, One thing that you failed to mention in the video about Smash Bros. 64 is that next year is the 25th anniversary of the release of the game. It was released in Japan in January 1999. This could also be tied to a possible NSO release next January and a third Fighters Pass for Smash Ultimate. I could see a port of Smash Bros. Ultimate to the successor of the Nintendo Switch with the title, "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 25th Anniversary Edition." It would have all the fighters in the base game of Ultimate along with all the DLC fighters from Fighters Passes 1, 2, and 3. It could have more features from previous games and some new features, along with the new fighters and echo fighters not found in the original base game or any of the Fighters Passes. I would imagine that they could even port all the previous versions of Smash Bros prior to Ultimate (N64, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, and 3DS) and have them built into a Nintendo Switch successor version of "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 25th Anniversary Edition" only with online functionality added to them. I would imagine that Nintendo would probably prefer to put all the different versions of Smash Bros. on various NSO apps. Nintendo could also make the promise that they would continue adding fighters and echo fighters after the release of "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 25th Anniversary Edition."
Those amiibo silhouettes on the back of the box are from 2014, it's the same artwork they used for a lot of generic amiibo branding back then. Samus' pose is just a coincidence. In fact I think that pose is originally from Other M's promotional artwork and Smash Ultimate just used it as a reference. A few renders do these pose references like Simon, Richter and Sora.

When it comes to the super smash bros rumors I personally hope that a fighters pass volume 3 happens but at the moment I am not holding my breath.
I dont want to go into a possible direct with much hope for Smash news so as to not be disappointed. However if there is a direct and they talk about anything other than just "hey Sora amiibo everyone!" I will be sooooooo hyped😅
I wonder if SF6 being so dominant in fighting games right now is giving them ideas. Switching to netcode that sometimes stutters and has to reverse time but otherwise eliminates lag, as in SF6, would be huge. Also if they released a proper training mode people would lose their minds. In any event I think it is likely that it will be part of preparing Smash Ultimate to be ported to the next system. It makes so much more sense than making a whole new game.
This. The ONLY thing this patch is likely going to contain will be the info for the Sora amiibo and data for the inevitable Smash Bros. Ultimate Deluxe for the new Switch. I don't see them reinventing the wheel for the new system. I could see them doing balance changes with a Deluxe version (and hope they do), but I feel very strongly that Ultimate will be the Mario Kart 8 of Smash for quite some time.
I think if they were to release anything smash related it would be a patch, and maybe costumes for characters that you could buy

Yeah Boss Rush mode wasn't in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate being World of Light close enough for a Boss Rush. Oh a patch isn't happening in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after Sora was out.

Smash 64 on NSO honestly makes the most sense, actually. That and Sora amiibo are likely all the Smash content announced for sure.
I just wanna see more of Mario RPG Remake
I'd love to see the Another Code series make a return but I don't think remaking those games makes much sense. Both games rely a lot on very specific features of their respective consoles. I'm not just talking about the DS's touch screen and the Wii's motion controls - there's puzzles such as closing the DS's lid in the first game and connecting a nunchuk to to the Wii-mote in the second game. These puzzles obviously can't be emulated on Switch hardware.

Oh man, a Smash Ultimate special edition that includes all of the already released DLC fighters would be pretty cool to see. There are probably a good amount of new Switch owners that kind of missed the Smash Ultimate phase who're good candidates for selling the game to. Wouldn't be too crazy to have a new Fighter Pass come out either, especially if that indeed ends up as new content for the NSO Expansion Pack.

Hey PapaGenos, here’s an interesting theory that I haven’t seen anybody speculating. Could it be possible that Sakurai is waiting to post his UA-cam video about Ultimate until after this update is announced? Surely he would still be in the loop of any plans happening
I do wonder if this "more" from Smash Ultimate might end up being DLC for the missing past stages, reskins of past Battlefields and Final Destinations or maybe a stage builder type Battlefield where you can customise the platform set ups.
If we do get any Smash Bros news, I think it will most likely be just the Sora amiibo, and maybe an announced re-release. My next guess would be a NSO release of Smash Brawl on the Switch, maybe even a Smash 64 and Melee release too. It would be nice to get a balance patch for Ultimate, but I just don't think that is going to happen.
Honestly, I can see a deluxe collection with all DLC included on it, an announcement of Smash 64 on NSO, and maybe retro costumes for the First 12 based on N64, along with Sora’s amiibo

By "Rainbow Course", I think they meant "Rainbow Curse". So potentially this implies a new Kirby Canvas Curse follow-up whether it's sticking to the claymation look of the game or not is beyond me.
Lastly regarding Smash, I most certainly do NOT expect them to confirm more Smash content coming in the pipeline. Sora was the final character made, I don't think the team would just suddenly continue for more content made despite the overall development. I just think if we get anything to this Direct, it's likely just confirming both the Sora amiibo release date and a new quick update that now adds Sora amiibo functionality in the game. That's it.
Smash Ultimate with more updates and upscaling with the new console would be atleast the

For the smash content update (if it happens that is lol) I’m thinking that there will be character dlc skins / costumes, returning stages like poke floats and yoshi wooly world, new stages, and maybe a small battlefield version of each stage (highly unlikely). I can also see there being a boss rush mode, and an actual all-star mode like the Wii U version, but my wildest prediction would be the RETURN OF SMASH RUN and you can play that mode online. Of course there’s also the sora amiibo.

I don't expect much from Smash Bros in the Direct. Some Amiibo announcements and perhaps an Multiplayer event. Smash Melee being re-released could also be an option.

While I'm not expecting a 3rd fighters pass two characters I'd really like to see would be Ray series Robo from Custom Robo & Krystal from Star Fox. It still seems weird to me that Arms got a playable character before Custom Robo considering Custom Robo had more games & had its metaphorical foot in the door earlier with three trophies in melee.
Custom Robo has never been that big of an IP and ARMS had a unique advantage bc of the DLC. I think if there wasn't DLC it would've had no shot but bc they were able to account for more recent individual characters timing lined up really well to try and promote it
@@KrissyBlues Plus, much like with Xenoblade 2. Both we're considered by Sakurai after Ultimate's launch since the roster beforehand was already chosen thus not allowing to bring both of them in with a playable rep but rather other forms such as Assist Trophies, Mii Costumes, Music (minus ARMS at the time), and Spirits of select characters.
It's why Fighter Pass 2 was able to include those characters in addition to Nintendo also wanting them to get some promotional push.
Not gonna lie. Your Smash speculation videos were some of the highlights for me of this gen.

The Nintendo Selects theory seems plausible and could account to restocks. Maybe a bit lame, but I could see it. Really interested in whatever is being revealed, hoping for that Sora amiibo at least.

I been saying Smash Ultimate should do DLC for alternate costumes. Like it makes so much sense. Bayonetta 3 outfit, Tears of the Kingdom Link, etc. Fortnite is a good example that some people really enjoy skins

It feels really weird to me to speculate that an Amiibo for a character that came out over a year ago would come with new features specifically for the amiibo. There has to be more here.
It makes more sense to me that Nintendo is planning new content with or without Sakurai just like the did with Brawl.
Mario Kart dlc is ending soon so I imagine to keep the hype of waiting for dlc to come out they plan more for Smash. Nintendo lately has been doing slightly better Smash tournaments lately, maybe because they want to start handling things themselves.

I'd love that all these rumors on Smash Ultimate saying that there are no new fighters and then they announce an echo fighters pass, and when it comes out they release it with an update that balances Steve and Kazuya. Probably not but that is what I would want the most, as well as Geno being the final character of Ultimate.
Realistically I think the Selects theory makes a lot of sense. Would love more Smash characters of course but it really seems like a stretch to me. A Sora amiibo is all I truly hope for

Honestly it’d be pretty crazy for them to announce a fighter pack 3 like they did when Mario Kart 8 DLC came back. I don’t actually think it’ll happen, but it would be pretty smart to just continue building off Ultimate instead of making a new game. Then they don’t need to get all the licensing and deals done all over again, they can just port the game to the new hardware. Plus, let’s be honest, it would make them a LOT of money. I don’t doubt for a second that outside of Mario Kart, Smash Ultimate fighter packs were probably Nintendo’s best selling DLC. Again, don’t think it’ll happen, but the thought is a little exciting. Just talking about this stuff was always fun.
Amiibo news aside, the best we can hope for is a balance patch. Pie in the sky wish though is that Sakurai along with the balance patch also adds Geno and the Forest Maze stage as a means to promote the Mario RPG remaster

I'm still gonna hope that one day they'll release some extra content like they did with Mario Kart 8. My hopes would be either a new version of Melee's adventure mode, or an updated Smash Run. But it's all wishful thinking, I'm gonna guess it might not be something drastic honestly. But still, I'd much prefer them going all out on Ultimate, and then if they make a new Smash on the new system, maybe getting more experimental with it, only because I think trying to continue some of those licensing deals might be a bit difficult, I don't know, I don't work at Nintendo.

If Smash 64 comes to Switch Online, maybe they could release a pack of stages for Ultimate based on old stages to tie in with it, with stuff like Meta Crystal and Pokefloats.
