- My Discord discovered when performing a specific Google search for Video Game Characters on the European Google search engine, 5 characters cause an Ad for the Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC Fighter Pass to appear at the top of the search page. No other characters they have tried seem to cause this Ad to appear under the right conditions. The Theory is that these 5 characters could potentially be the characters in the Smash Ultimate DLC Fighter Pass.

It just makes more sense to pick a fan-favorite character like Solaire, or a popular boss like Artorias.

Also as this is an ad, when buying adwords you pay for specific keywords as well. So someone is paying for this.

I love that this has two very logical explanations that either embrace or destroy the theory:
1) Some troll is buying this keywords to mess with the community
2) Nintendo UK is doing it precisely to avoid someone messing with the ads later down the line
Definitely lends well to this thing's credibility, in any case. However, there's no way to confirm 100% that it's true until like, maybe another character gets revealed at E3 and its' one of these guys. You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch...
the slunch What the strangest part of this to me is that it’s only showing for EU regions. This means that the person, or Nintendo, have turned geographic targeting on. I can’t see why Nintendo as a company would do this. This leads me to believe that a person is buying these adwords for this specific region to save them money. I’m inclined to believe whoever found this on the discord server could be the one behind it ;)... but eh, still you never know really.
This leak is EXTREMELY interesting, but after I got burned with the Grinch Leak, I believe that there is no such thing as *"this leak has to be true, nobody is crazy enough to need everything up just so to make this happen!"*

This honestly makes so much sense (the characters, not the theory).
- Banjo and Kazooie are probably the most wanted characters in smash history
- Ryu Hayabusa has a nintendo legacy from a deserving franchise, also celebrating an anniversary
- DOOM made FPS what they are today, massive legacy and popularity, also DOOM Eternal is coming to switch
- Artorias is from a MASSIVE franchise, owned by Bamco (helps makes smash and also mii costume theory)

The characters make so much sense considering Sakurai's mindset when choosing characters to be in Smash. I'm trying to not get my hopes up with this because it is a "leak" after all, but damn would these be SOLID choices for DLC.

Yes, Sakurai's mindset of including SO many western characters, which is why we have like 4, now.
Banjo and Kazooie are definitely not the most requested characters in Smash history. They got popular when the Fighter Ballot started and then again when we saw that Ultimate was hosting some fan favorites.
Bayonetta is definitely not one of the most requested characters ever.

Frarly really my only problem with Ryu is that the other Ryu is in Smash, and the ninja motif already overlaps with Sheik and Greninja.
@@bedazzlebub967 true but Ryu Hayabusa has so much more to offer gameplay wise than sheik&Greninja combined. Ryu has the potential to be a mage swordsman similar to robin. If they took my proposed moveset (which they won't cause likely too complicated) you could set up his neutral b to be a weapon change giving him 3 options sword, staff, nunchaku with the parallels being obvious that sword is an all rounder, nunchaku low damage good combos, staff high damage good reach lots of start up

If the Doom protagonist does get into Smash, he probably will go by “Doom Slayer.” That’s the title he went by in the most recent Doom games. “Doom Guy” and “Doom Marine” are not official titles for the character as far as I’m aware.

I like how this theory came up, and how it is "testable." Like you said, it only takes someone finding a 6th name to debunk it, which means anyone with the desire to do a bunch of searches can squash it. However, each name that gets tested that doesn't work only makes the theory stronger.
Also, nobody can fake a screenshot with a bogus name because the community can just go test it for themselves to see if it works.
Not 100% sold on it, but definitely interesting.
There's the fact anyone could have bought the keywords to generate that specific page-ad result.
I'm as excited as you but we're banking this on Nintendo UK having made that slip (purchasing the keywords ahead of time)

Rool in Smash, Vergeben being wrong about DLC and Banjo is probably the REAL Smash ballot winner. Banjo is in.

What I loved about Banjo-kazooie is the diversity, its what I loved about Rareware's games, I don't really see that much with other game companies, there too busy stereotyping people.

actually he would make sense. dark souls are maybe the biggest new franchise of this decade, and DS1 got released on Switch october 2018 (two months before launch of smash). also, bandai namco has developed and worked on both smash and dark souls.

I was in the discord for the google theory, and it was super cool to witness it all pan out. As for likelihood, it's pretty crazy and hard to debunk. I'll stay sceptical though. The characters all seem pretty cool as well, especially Artie

Not really, we got the Hero who wasn't a part of this. Plus in part 2 Papa goes over more info we uncovered, in which Cloud and Corrin triggered the same ad since they were previously DLC. So we kinda took out Artorias since he's also DLC for dark souls which was probably why he triggered the ad as well. It's possible "The Hero" would make it work since we did get Banjo, but now that The Hero is official he will always make the ad pop up, making it impossible to go back and check since we never tried typing that in. So in short, we take out Artorias, put in The Hero, and we still have 2 more slots, possibly Doom Slayer and Ryu Hayabusa if this does turn out to be correct. But Papa is still leaning more towards Mii Costume Theory. Google Theory was just a really fun one we discovered and wanted to share, and get everyone's thoughts.

@@GardenCelluloids Yes, but the point was that Artorias was causing the ad since he's dlc to dark souls. Similar to Cloud and Corrin doing this too since they were previously dlc in Sm4sh.

In the context of classic mode, I think Artorias makes sense. I thought of an idea that would make sense for his classic mode. It would basically be boss rush where each round is a boss fight except the bonus stage. There are usually 7 rounds. That fits perfectly because you could have Rathalos, Master Hand, Crazy Hand, Giga Bowser, Ganon, Marx, and Dracula. It would fit even more due to how hard it would be compared to other classic modes!
If this is true, every character (except Banjo-Kazooie) is from a M rated game (Excluding NES Ryu, but his most recent games have been M)

This is very interesting. I feel banjo is likely coming anyway so we'd have to wait till either another character from the list gets confirmed or someone who isn't on the list is confirmed till we know whether this is slightly credible or not.

I think all of these characters in this theory kinda fits what Reggie saying about characters that you do not anticipate to be in Smash back at The Game Awards last year when Joker was revealed.
I think Ray Man was frozen pouring Tetris Cereal into a bowl. Sub Zero got mad he was pouring the milk first so Shantae and Banjo sent him to assassinate Ray Man. That’s like 10 DLC characters revealed at once.

Don't worry. I'm taking this with a pyramid of salt. But this set of DLC characters is the only proposed group that fully satisfies me. Even the one from the game I've never played.
It makes sense on a marketing standpoint, they all seem like they'd have majorly different playstyles and they're all icons of the industry from almost all eras of gaming.

This is a super weird phenomenon. Not to mention, I don't think I've ever seen a weirder lineup for DLC fighter speculation. The idea of legacy characters like Banjo and Hyabusa sounds really cool, and Artorias is a super weird, super unique pick that I never would have expected, but he'd be pretty cool (coming from someone who wants Pyramid Head, another boss character, in Smash). But still, this is super weird, and I'm definitely taking this with a grain of salt--

I got an smash ad for searching master chief, despite wanting him in the game, it means nothing other than ads based on your searches, so of course those looking for proof of a certain leak while get an ad for smash

PapaGenos PapaGenos yeah, this theory actually would please me as I honestly hate the idea of Steve or Erdrick. It’s not that it’s the characters themself, it’s just the fact that I really think there are other characters that deserve it way over them. Banjo, Geno, Rayman, Rex, there’s just a lot of way better picks that deserve a spot. I also like this list a lot because it has a lot of darker-themed characters. Joker, Doom Slayer, Ryu, and Artorias are all a little more mature, and then Banjo & Kazooie are incredibly popular and requested, so it’d add a large amount of fan service.

The stage might be the abyss with manus (boss in dark souls) in the background. Or the stage might be the royal wood wher you can see black dragon kalameet (also a boss in dark souls) flying in the background.

I would love almost any Fate Saber (aside from Nero), Lancer or Archer in Smash. They should make a Fate fighting game. If the Umineko VN got one, why not Fate as well?
I'm so happy to see that some sort of leak has arrived supporting Ryu Hayabusa in Smash
We got three exclusive games from Team Ninja: Hyrule and FE Warriors, and MUA 3. Plus Ninja Gaiden is on the NES Online. This just proves Nintendo is working close with Team Ninja so Ryu Hayabusa has a better chance than most 3rd party characters.

Pessimistic Optimist Same. Nothing against Jill, I like her as a character but it would be weird to add her instead of Leon or Chris. It would be like if they added Richter but not Simon in smash. Just doesn’t feel right

alot of people did, it was pretty cool to see it go from lazily googling characters to see if we could find anything to it slowly becoming more and more interesting until we got 5 and no other ones were working
