My go-to-feel-good song. When I’m having a bad day, I play this and it calms me. Brad Delp ....his voice...can you get any higher? Sadly he committed suicide. Talent gone too soon.
Allen Saunders it wasn’t actually, they sent a band to a studio but it was actually all recorded and written by Tom. Anyways I believe let me take you home tonight was the only one recorded in a studio
That is why I love these reaction videos, it gives me that feeling of discovering it again for the first time and shaking my head as if to say "I KNOW" ❤🤘🏻🎶🎸🎤
@@JayveeTV I bet you've heard STYX but didn't know who it was. Look for "Mr Roboto", "Come Sail Away", "Too Much Time on My Hands" and "Babe" (slow song)
It's okay to be biased. Boston was one of the best groups around. Of course Beatles will always be on top but for Perfection and song Boston and queen are by far part of the top three of all time
I love that you are experiencing music I grew up with! What you heard in studio was what you heard live on stage. Try Foreplay/Longtime...these are always on my playlist. Good vibes and love to ya! xo
I just recently saw your videos. I love them! I just watched your reaction to "Hotel California". It was the first song I memorized. ANY song from the Eagles is great. Eagles "Seven Bridges Road" it short, impressive, and enjoyable to listen to. IT IS LIVE and almost all ACAPELLA!
The entire first album was on the billboards...its an epic debut! My uncle gave me this record for my birthday in 1977! 2 years later I saw them in concert!
Awesome song! Thanks for reacting to it. I think there was a full verse missing from this version, though. ("So many people have come and gone. Their faces fade as the years go by ..." ) All eight songs on Boston's first album in 1976 -- of which this was the lead track -- are either great or good. If you don't want to react to every song on their first album (which I recommend! :-) ), then you should try to listen to the full album, in order, on your own one day if and when you get a free 37 minutes. 1. "More Than a Feeling ." 2. "Peace of Mind." 3. "Foreplay/Long Time." 4. "Rock & Roll Band." 5. "Smokin'." 6. "Hitch a Ride." 7. "Something About You." 8. "Let Me Take You Home Tonight." ua-cam.com/video/4zDR5jmCXOg/v-deo.html
What a treat, to hear Boston for the first time again! I actually had this in vinyl! I swear, I thought I saw you reacted to the Man I'll Never Be by them. I can't find it, so give it a try! You will love it.
the sound quality on that video is absolute trash. Do yourself a favor and before you review a song you need to browse around and look for HQ versions. Boston is one of the best-mixed bands ever, and you lost 90% of the sound using that shitty video. such a shame the first time you heard such an amazing song it was from that particular video.
Another great video, Jayvee! Tom Scholz actually came to my house one time (long story). I had been taking guitar lessons for about three months and was convinced my little acoustic had something wrong with it. Tom grabbed my ancient, cheap guitar, played for a few minutes and I realized there and then that my guitar was not my issue. Great band and Tom is a gift to the music world. Brad Delp is the most underrated vocalist of all time.
Saw them at WSU in 1979 when Boston just finished world wide tour and we so happy to be back in the states that they played for 3 hours. They sounded better than recordings. I was shocked and we couldn't sleep from getting so hyped up. Was an incredible band!
Actually Jeff I think it’s even higher. I checked my guitar tuning, and that part of the song is in D, and he hits and holds the F sharp for 2 measures and then slides to the G for that last measure. Amazing. An almost 2 and 1/2 octave range in that song. I loved all the early Boston music. What a sad end for Brad. RIP
@@johns20901 haven't checked against my guitar but you may be right. Rick Beato does a fantastic breakdown of this song line by line and he isolates each tract. Very interesting and adds to my appreciation of the song and Brad's singing talent.
This album was the soundtrack to my childhood. Thee ENTIRE album is fantastic! No sound like Boston . My favorite Boston song... Rock N Roll Band.. the story of how they got signed! I love Boston
My first concert! Boston had just finished world tour and we were the 1st stop back home. We got a 3 hour concerts and they were so happy to be home. We were spent! They sounded better live if you can believe it! It W was at WSU campus was abuzz for hours after concert! 💞🎶✌
This songs was crafted. Tom, Brad, Sib. Sib playing drums. Tom playing all the guitars. Brad providing all the voices. It can't really be played live, but it's a beautiful song.
My friend in High School had just bought the brand new Boston album in 1976 and said to me, you got to check this out. He played it for me and my reaction was like WOW, OMG , this is so incredible and such an amazing sound. I never heard anything like that before. It blew me away. We had really good weed too.
The best album cover and iconic. Listen to the song Long time in it's entirety. You will love it!! This band broke new ground with the production of the song using synthetic and accoustics in a non studio environment that was unheard of.
You should listen to The Beach Boys “God only knows” 1966 album Pet sounds. It’s the only song the Beatles said they wish they had wrote and performed which is HUGE coming from them
Back in 2007, Tom Scholz told us that Brad Delp had the greatest set of pipes he'd ever heard: "He's the best singer I've ever heard -- period. I have worked with a ton of 'em -- nobody can do the things that he can do. I'm not talking about singing high notes -- lots of people can do that. He can do amazing things with his voice, and his grasp of music is just mind-boggling. The things that he can keep upstairs. . . it's like you're tapping into some kind of computer memory bank or something."
Hey man, just discovered this channel and can't believe the rock you've been living under. PLEASE check out The Who. For first time reactions, I'd recommend Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again, but everything they do is incredible and they have some real bangers. Would also highly recommend that if you ever have the time for a full album, you react to their rock opera masterpiece Quadrophenia. I've also been on a Back to the Future kick lately and think that you should react to Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News, as well as Doubleback by ZZ Top. Thank you in advance for your consideration and keep on listening - sounds like you have A LOT to still discover!
This is an overdub of the studio recording. They never sounded this good live simply because all the guitars, including the bass were played and mixed by Tom Scholz in his BASEMENT studio. It's got doubled 12 string acoustic, doubled 6 six string electric and doubled bass. The vocals are all doubled and tripled by the late Brad Delp (single takes all), one of the great lead singers of all time. All this was recorded and mixed from single takes in his homemade basement studio. The drums were provided by Sib Hashian after a change in personnel. They could never reproduce the studio sound live. The first two albums are classics and the first is the greatest selling debut album of all time. Tom is an innovator and many of his techniques and invented equipment is still used to this day.
Tom Scholz recorded this song in his basement. He brought in a drummer and Brad Delp to sing vocals. When Tom signed a deal with a record company, he had to put a band together to play the songs live. Tom Scholz was an engineer who invented something to play his guitar through to give it a unique sound. He's a genius!
Love Boston, all the music from that time actually. I think folks are a bit sneery about it sometimes but the guys and gals had talent and could actually play.
Hi there 😎👋 Yeah a good pair of headphones makes a world of difference when listening to quality music. The "tone" you talked about was created by one of the band members that went to MIT. He uses two guitars playing the same strings and it sounds like a completely new guitar. Your headsets will pick up the two different guitars playing individually in different ears ...and when they combine..it will blow your mind.
OUTSTANDING that you get headphones! I suggested some for listening to classic rock a few videos ago. Great, no? You might want to re-listen to some you've reviewed with improved sound. Like your stuff.
