Hitch a Ride, fore play / longtime ,you really can’t go wrong on this album. I love Boston 3rd stage album as well All great songs and I won’t leave out don’t look back. But 1 & 3 are my favorites.
Brad Delp is easily one of the best rock voices in rock history..., and yes, he really had that range and could really hold a note that long! Tom Scholz basically recorded the entire album on his own in his basement, then found musicians for a band to play it. he’s a musical genius. Hitch a Ride is easily the best song they ever did.
Omg you’re listening to Boston now!?As a native Bostonian please keep listening. This whole album and all the instruments were originally recorded from one guy in his basement! Every song in this album is a banger, truly one of the best debut albums ever. Love your channel. Love your reactions. I have seen them LIVE twice since their lead singer Brad Delp died. They used two people, a male and female, to blend their voices to sound like Brad Delp. That's how rare a talent he was. R.I.P.
Rick Beato did an episode on what makes this song great. You can hear Delp’s vocals isolated. It will blow you away how good he is. He double tracked all the vocal parts (recorded them twice) to add depth. Both tracks are so nearly identical it’s uncanny. Next I’d say Foreplay/Longtime , Peace of Mind, ir Hitch a Ride. ua-cam.com/video/ynFNt4tgBJ0/v-deo.html
That's the beauty of this song...the gentle fade-in lures you in and then the screaming guitars rip the top of your head off. Though short, the guitar solo on this song is my all-time favorite. Great band, great first album (probably the best first album ever produced). I was 15 when this came out and 46 years has not dulled my love for "More Than A Feeling".
I gotta say Jay, I dig your descriptive adjectives when you react to a video, it's out of sight man. Just so you know, I was 16 in 1976 when Boston's album came out, known as Boston, Boston. The whole album is great. And yes, that's 60 years young to you and me and I still love it. It's all about how you feel. Be good, C.
Jay Rah, that was excellent! I'm glad you like one of the classic bands from the 70's! You need to listen to this next: "Foreplay/Long Time". It's a bit of a medley and it will take you to the next level, with Boston! Do it, good sir!

Just found your station today and your selection of MORE THAN A FEELING by a super group like Boston was a great choice. The song was a big hit reaching number 5 on the Billboard chart in 1976. Some other of their songs worth a listen to are PEACE OF MIND, FOREPLAY/LONG TIME AND DON'T LOOK BACK. Really enjoyed your comments about the song.
Wait til you hear Boston's "Hitch A Ride". Sheer beauty and perfection. Same with "Foreplay/Long Time" a razor-thin close second. Epic tunes like u wouldn't believe, JR!
I agree with the comments about this being probably the best debut album ever. Every single song is just fantastic. Great guitar parts and stellar vocals / harmonies.
For those of us who were alive in the seventies, those hand claps used in some Boston songs remind us of the sound of arenas full of people clapping en masse at rock concerts.
1976, I was 13 and that year was probably the greatest year for music ever. Brad Delp was and still is the greatest voice in Rock. The highest selling debut album for 41 years until GNR "Appetite for destruction" replaced it just a few years ago
I seem to recall having the same reaction 44 years ago - heard it a thousand times and it's still not enough. You've started with Boston at exactly the right point - the first song on the first album. You could react to all the other songs on the album, in order, there isn't a single bad song in the bunch. When that's done, you can start on their second album, Don't Look Back. I'm really a fan of production and arrangement, and in my opinion, the title song,"Don't Look Back", is a perfect record.
Amazing to think one man wrote every note every lyric then built a studio in his basement hired a vocalist and a drummer then made the music your hearing and all before he hit 22years old. Played classical piano from childhood started learning guitar at18 and made this before he hit 22
This is one of my fave songs of all time! So glad you enjoyed as much as we did/do! Foreplay/Longtime should be your next, then in no particular order Peace of Mind, Rock n Roll Band, Let Me Take You Home Tonight, Smokin', Don't Look Back, Hitch a Ride, Feelin' Satisfied, A Man I'll Never Be, Party, Amanda, Cantcha Say/Still in Love, To Be a Man...there's a few to get you started. The combination of Tom Scholz' genius & Brad Delp's voice is unmistakable & unforgettable! Although there were some years Unfortunately, Brad committed suicide in 2007. RIP Brad. Scholz was a MIT grad who recorded most of their first album in his basement studio with only Brad doing vocals on equipment he invented himself! He was remarkable! Brad also left the band a couple of times in the 90s into the 2000s.
You know, the older I get (I'm 61) the more I like hip-hop and the way the younger generations use the English language. Like your intro for example, when you begin too talk. Interesting, melodic and cool. Poetry in my opinion. And oh yeah, Boston fucking rocks!
Tom Scholz (guitarist) had a keen interest in music and began recording demos in his home studio. These demos attracted the interest of Epic Records, who signed him and singer Brad Delp (singer) to a recording contract. Scholz believed his demos were good enough for release as Boston's debut album, but Epic told him to re-record the demos. Most of the guitar, bass, and keyboards were performed by Scholz, although other players were involved sporadically throughout the recordings. Epic didn't want the album recorded entirely in Scholz's home as he had intended (the label suggested using a recording studio), but most of what ended up on the album had indeed been recorded by Scholz in his basement !!! The album was released in 1976 and became the biggest-selling debut album by any artist up to that time. In the US, this album is certified 17X Platinum and selling over 17,000,000+ units !!! P-L-E-A-S-E do a reaction to this song--"Foreplay/Long Time"... it's long, but you won't be sorry. Visionary-Nation, Ba--beeee !!!
Other bangers off this record are "Smokin'", " Peace of Mind," "Rock and Roll Band," "Foreplay/Long Time," and "Something About You." Really, the entire record should be played start to end, uninterrupted! Off their second album, "Don't Look Back," the title track, "Party," "It's Easy," "Feelin' Satisfied," and "A Man I'll Never Be." Now, for the full emersion in Boston, simply play the debut and second albums, in their entirety, back to back!! You'll be impressed!!
I live right near the house in Watertown where Tom Scholz recorded all the instruments for this album! Honestly all 8 songs on this album are gems you should react to em all. But if i had to pick one itd be "Peace Of Mind"
There were a lot of great of stuff made by Boston. Everything from their first album, second album was awesome but on their third album they released a song called Hollyann. My favorite song from Boston ever. Very soulful and very romantic and rocking. Do a reaction to Hollyann!
Ready, this albums instrumentation was done by 1 DUDE in his basement. All Instruments, then he just happened to have one of the best Rock Vocalist's Ever as his Buddy come in and do the Vocals, creating the Biggest Selling First Album Ever.
Might as play the whole record. It’s a masterpiece! Probably the best debut album ever made for a rock group. That chord progression at the beginning is a common three chord riff used hundreds of times in popular songs, country, rock, folk..none better than this! 🎸
Thanks for pointing out that rim shot/side stick... Whatever.(. Im no drummer) . ! I never noticed that. Ive only been listening to this beloved song for 44 years! There's a lot going on. Lol. Thanks. Great reaction.

So awesome to see you great kids react the SAME way we old fogies did when we heard it for the first time in 1976.
More Boston. “A Man I’ll Never Be”
Amazing to think one man wrote every note every lyric then built a studio in his basement hired a vocalist and a drummer then made the music your hearing and all before he hit 22years old.
Awesome man. That album was in heavy rotation for me in high school.
Their song "Rock n Roll band" is a good one of many by them.
Visionary-Nation, Ba--beeee !!!
such a powerful song
Other bangers off this record are "Smokin'", " Peace of Mind," "Rock and Roll Band," "Foreplay/Long Time," and "Something About You." Really, the entire record should be played start to end, uninterrupted! Off their second album, "Don't Look Back," the title track, "Party," "It's Easy," "Feelin' Satisfied," and "A Man I'll Never Be."
Now, for the full emersion in Boston, simply play the debut and second albums, in their entirety, back to back!! You'll be impressed!!
Something About You, I love. Also Let Me Take You Home Tonight.
"Something About You" is easily the most underappreciated Boston song ever.
I live right near the house in Watertown where Tom Scholz recorded all the instruments for this album! Honestly all 8 songs on this album are gems you should react to em all. But if i had to pick one itd be "Peace Of Mind"
We wore out the first copy of this album and had to get another!! We were 16 years old in 1976!!
Probably the
best debut album ever made for a rock group. That chord progression
at the beginning is a common three chord riff used hundreds of times
in popular songs, country, rock, folk..none better than this! 🎸
This debut album is considered one of the best in history. Every cut is superior I wore this out in my car tape deck
Thanks for pointing out that rim shot/side stick... Whatever.(. Im no drummer) . ! I never noticed that. Ive only been listening to this beloved song for 44 years! There's a lot going on. Lol. Thanks. Great reaction.
