Another awesome video. First time I've seen a ghost shrimp. Cooked sheepshead looked amazing. Love that you fish with your momma and the way you give thanks to God
This was such an interesting video. It was super cool seeing you go from catching Ghost shrimp bait to eating your Sheepshead bounty, wow! My nephew and I have been watching your videos together. I appreciate seeing true, Southern Gentleman in action. Thank you for the great content! 🇺🇸 🎣
These catch and cook videos are absolutely FANTASTIC! As an angler and avid cook myself, the full utilization of a successful catch is wonderful to see (and new recipes lol). Keep up the fantastic content Bama!
Great job on the pier. Great to have your mom as your partner!!! The fish looks delicious. I'm sure you enjoyed. Keep up the great videos, I really enjoy.
Nice clip from you on this shrimp. That is a native to the west coast, very common here. Works great for saltwater and fresh water catfish, Salmon and Steelhead. Sporting goods stores sell them live here, at least in my younger years of fishing on the Columbia river and Tributaries in NW Oregon and Washington State. Brings back great memories. Keep the GR8 videos coming!!
Great video, you are so right about not over seasoning fish especially really great tasting fish like you had. I have watched a lot of catch and cook videos and just about all of them they over season what they cooked.
That sheepshead on the half shell looks GOOD! Gotta try some of that Dragos sauce. I agree that if you have really good fresh fish you don't want to overpower it with to much seasoning. Solid vid, keep up the good work!
My God! You had my mouth watering! That looks sooooo goooood!!!! Hard to catch that many and size Sheepshead up here in the frozen tundra. Great video!
bam......alll weekend here in north GA......we supposed to get snow...so yeah..pretty jealous of you down south fishing your butt off...here...cold as hell and snowing like crazy......
Duck season aint over yet and we’ve had a good number of birds this year, if you have morning go set up a few decoys and go get a blue bill or couple of red heads, lots around
That is a yabby mate. We use the in Australia all the time specially for brim an whiting. I did not know they also lived outside of Australia. You should get a sieve and just dump your pump straight into it, that way you will not miss them. Alvey (same company you have your pump from) also sells plastic sieves.
In Australia we call those shrimps, Yabbies, and use a yabbie pump, like you used, to capture them. Some fishermen use a sieve floating in the water topumpt the sand into, to catch the yabbies. Yes, great bait here too,
We use 30 lb J braid with a 20 lb flouro leader in clearwater, or 30 or 40 in darker water. 3/0 live bait hook is the real tip, big hook gets behind the teeth.
It's kind of funny where I fish freshwater drum are called Sheepshead. A lot of Walleye anglers hate them & call them farm animals. But, in late May I have said you could fill up a small pickup truck with them. Some get very large! I just release them.
Great videos! I came across your channel last week. I have just bought a place on Wolf Bay near the original Wolf Bay lodge and have no clue how to inshore fish. Watching your videos now I can get out there and hopefully catch a few. Very informative. Thanks!!
Love your video! I would like to recommend that you get a charcoal chimney to start your charcoal rather than the match light charcoal. Then you won't have the lighter fluid taste on your food. That fish just looks wonderful.
the Video was great fun to watch BUT the sheep heads looked like so much fun to catch. Thanks for being so nice to your Mom. My Mother is gone now but she would never have gone fishing. One time I remember a ring neck pheasant rooster was in our yard ( very rural farm land) She wanted him for dinner and she shot him then she cried and cried because he had been so pretty. ladies!!!! rick in Pa.
I love the Catch, Clean, and Cook videos. I never miss one. Why are my fish always smaller than yours? ha ha. Several years ago we had a local restaurant that offered grilled shark steaks cooked on an open grill. They were so good. Do you ever grill Shark Steaks? Can you keep the smaller Sharks? Keep up the great videos.
Thank you! They're tough to film but very rewarding to eat and enjoy fresh fish. I love fresh Shark They have very nice meat when prepared properly. I do plan on catching more sharks on film ! Alabama just has some weird shark fishing stigmas sometimes, but I definitely plan on doing some. Thanks for watching and commenting !
That sheepshead look tasty. I like to start mine meat side down on the grill for just a minute or so to give it a bit more char-grill flavor. Nice vids
We just don’t see those up here in NC. At least I’ve never found any. Beautiful Sheepshead. You sure use nice tackle. I only use my vintage gear. Enjoyed the video!
Looks fire bro one day ima go to Alabama and catch those sheeps I’m from San Diego we only have the California sheepshead I’ve caught a 15 pounder before but I would want to catch some of thoseeeee
I love sheepshead fishing and they taste great. I would like to know where you got the spatula from I’ve been looking for one like that and also where do I get the sauce from. Thanks for another great video really enjoyed it.
I agree! And that spatula came with a kit for the Blackstone Grill (Blackstone Accessory 5046). The Drago's Garlic Butter was purchased from Rouse's Market ! Appreciate ya for watching.
Great video! Sheepshead is one of my favorite fish to eat. Nice job filleting them with that Spyderco knife. Fun fact: I made one of the first molds for the Spyderco Endura and the Delica "one piece" handles with the molded pocket clip back in the '90s. I have one that I have carried every day for about 25 years. Excellent choice in pocket knives brother.
Damn Bro. It’s gorgeous down there. You sure got the life. Living up north, I’ve only been able to fish for sheepshead a few times, but when I did, it was a lot of fun. And I usually don’t keep a lot of fish. I’m more of a catch and release guy, simply cause I’m too tired when I get home, but when legal, I certainly will keep a couple of sheepshead because they are absolutely delicious. Keep up the great work Brutha. Another great episode.
What you call ghost shrimp we in Australia call saltwater yabby. Not to be confused with fresh water yabby which is like your crawdad. Yabbies are the best bait for bottom dwelling ocean fish. That pump used is made by Alvey Australia.
for collecting ghost shrimp, in South-Africa (here we call them sand prawns) we pump the mud into a net and the shrimp are collected and you can pump blind
You might try a small mustad X3 treble hook? I bet your hook up increases. Even a "flounder" treble if there even made anymore. Hard to find. 2 prongs very close together on a treble.
I never had any luck with my ghost shrimp pump. Saw someone with one and bought it not knowing what I was doing. This was very helpful But he also did it in the bay in the sand in random spots then spit it back out and sifted through it
nice sheephead fantastic eating might need to try the bama side of the line sometime been doing a lot of beach fishing lately between navavarre and p-cola beach
We call them nippers here in Australia get a small blown up inner tube and insert a 2 foot sieve. drag it behind you and pump straight into it love your vids
Awesomeness 💯❤️❤️Great Net Job Mom👍🏻👍🏻 I have a Redfish that I have caught and was wandering what seasonings would be best for it?? I have fillets on a half shell as well🤙🏻
I see a Alvey pump. Alvey is a Queensland fishing equipment icon made in Brisbane Australia for more than a hundred years. While pumping in water we use a strainer to flush our catch into, this makes life easier.
@@nevilleapple629Same here in Queensland. Produced by renounded Brisband company Alvey. The comment was made with surprise to see a Alvey branded yabby pump in the USA. Cheers
Your cooking looks good enuff to eat. Still say you ought to try the Spanish mackerel on the grill alum foil boat marinade after hickory smoke. I've done this thou(s) times BLK tip shark.
You can also take sheepshead fillets…..wrap in a cheese cloth then boil in same recipe as boiled shrimp or crabs…..let it cool….it flakes like crabmeat and can be mixed 1:1 with crabmeat to make stuffing, fritters, etc. ….many restaurants that serve “stuffed crab” or “crab balls” are doing it like this to stretch out crabmeat yields with no real loss of quality or texture.
Thanks! Yeah sometimes you just gotta offer them something different I believe. And the hook size on this particular Bird of Prey Jig was a #1 Octopus Hook..
Thanks! Yes my Grandmother had a whole collection of the "Johnson Brother's Friendly Village". Wish we had gotten hers. We ended up buying some from the thrift store a long time ago
@@BamaSaltwater 😂that's awesome! My sister has our Grandmothers, friendly village also - I got super lucky and found a whole set of the coaching scene. Funny how many people have these things and love em.
Would a co-polymer line be a good line to use when there is a concern about line abrasion? Co-polymer line as I understand it offers lower stretch than momo but good abrasion resistance. Just curious?

Couple years ago I caught a massive 50lb black drum. I was like 10 and my cousin had to get this Asian man’s net to get him on the pier. Crazy
The pier is a fish buffet when it's right. Maybe couple more years and the repairs will be done. 🤞
Was it damaged by a hurricane?
Now im hungry and want some sheepshead lol I know the grill makes it taste much more greater than it already is 😋
