I think, unfortunately no. I could imagine digital zoom could work!

I can't use sony 24-70 gm for a7m3. What's the reason? The official website says there is no problem with compatibility. But the Zeiss lens becomes a focus. Do you know?

How to connect it cable for M4
Mine is set up exactly like that but when I try to do time lapse or even snap off a still using the camera shutter the camera just goes into continuously writing and won't stop until I disconnect it from the Ronin. Thought it may have something to do with the PC + Camera Destination and the camera was trying to write to a non existent PC. Don't know.
that could have something to do with it. pc remote is unfortunately the only way to do this. I'm sorry I can't help you.
@@liesannedecarpentier6417 It's down to the cable. The MCC to USB C won't allow much of the stills functionality. You need the MCC to Multi USB which doesn't support the focus wheel. Basically you need two cables. one for any time-lapse/stills stuff you want to do and one for video work that requires a follow focus.

advantages and disadvantages:
with the MCC-C cable:
+ video start funktion on the gimbal
+ focus pulling on the focus wheel
(Ronin-S)
+ optional charging function from gimbal to the sony
- no 5-axis stabilization (sony)
- no photo trigger function on the gimbal (important for Ronin-S app timelapse functions)
with the RSS-IR cable:
+ video & photo start funktion on the gimbal
+ 5-axis stabilization
(sony)
- no focus pulling on the focus wheel
(Ronin-S)

Very helpful video, thank you for making it! I am not having luck so far with my A7III and Ronin-S using the MCC-C cable. I have firmware version 3.00. Does this require firmware version 3.01? I will attempt to find out soon...
Got this working by updating my Ronin-S firmware to the current version 2.1.1.0. This should work with Ronin-S firmware versions 1.8.0.70 and later. My Sony A7III is still at firmware version 3.00.

the gimbal is a way smoother in biger movements. test it out you will have fun

Hey, thanks for the video. But i noticed something; You pointed that IR-Cable to the AF illuminator/Selftimer lamp.
The IR-Sensor is that "blank"-spot under the Front dial. (Check the Manual, english (GB) section page 9.
A lot of ppl make that mistake. Sometimes it works anyway but only because of some reflection or something.

Der IR-Sensor bei der A7III ist im Griff (der blanke Fleck unter dem vorderen Drehrad). In dem Video wurde das IR-Kabel auf das AF-Hilfslicht/Die Selbstauslöserlampe gerichtet. Passiert vielen Leuten, mir anfangs auch, daher weiß ich das mittlerweile. In der Anleitung (deutsches Kapitel) Seite 10.
Oft funktioniert es trotzdem, weil die IR-Signale reflektiert werden und dann trotzdem den Sensor erreichen. Aber zu oft auch nicht.
Ich hoffe ich konnte helfen.

What is the IR control cable for?
you can capture video and pics. with the usb mini and usb c you can capture video and zoom on your gimbal wheel
I tell you my case. Big problem with my a7c camera. It does not focus on the eye in 4k quality if you have activated the "Remote PC" option in the menu.
That means if you connect the camera to a gimbal via a cable,
eye focus is not activated in 4k quality.
Testing in lower grades the problem is solved.
I used other stabilizers that don't use cable and the problem continues.

The problem is activating the "remote pc" or "ctrl with smartphone" option.

Das heißt man kann entweder den Fokus nachziehen ODER die Aufnahme starten... ist ja echt kacke.. Habe den Ronin S und die A7III und habe gehofft, dass es durch ein Update irgendwann kommt. Wird wahrscheinlich nicht kommen :/ Danke für das Tutorial!

und jetzt bitte noch Deinen geheimen Trick verraten! War heute extra bei Camforpro und habe mit dem USB-C-Kabel 2 Stunden lang alles versucht mit Deinen Einstellungen, und es geht nicht. Fehlermeldung: "Check the connected device"
Kann dich zu gut verstehen, habe selbst viele Stunden daran verschwendet. Daher auch dieses Tutorial.
Sony und Ronin haben das neueste Softwareupdate?
Du hast im Menü alles umgestellt?
Mit welchem Kabel hast du was genau probiert zu verbinden?

@@BernhardDangl Ich habe die selben Einstellungen wie du in der Kamera und kann mit dem Rad einfach nicht fokussieren.
Sobald alles miteinander verbunden ist und ich am fokusrad drehe, kommt die Meldung: Folgender Vorgang bzw. Einstellung ist nicht Verfügbar: Zoom Einstellungen -> Nur Optischer Zoom. Ändere ich die Einstellung auf Digitalzoom, dann kann ich mit dem Fokusrad Digital "zoomen". Ich möchte aber kokussieren und nicht zoomen. Kannst du mir da weiterhelfen? Wäre dir echt Dankbar
