      Rdr1 has a better story and characters while also focusing more on survival mechanics, hunting, collecting herbs, etc. I think gta has a better traversal system and is more fun because there's no moral dilemma of killing innocence and causing havoc

      Besides GTA 4 there's no other GTA better than rdr1 and 2, those who say that GTA 5 is better are probably 12 years old kids who don't even know about the western genre and don't even want to give it a try because they don't have mobile phones or cars in red dead...but it's incomparable riding a horse throughout a beautiful landscape with driving a car through an American metropolis, and I'm not saying that GTA 5 (story mode) is a bad game, it's just that is very overrated, and when it's about GTAO things are a lot worse

    I love the conversation between the old women after playing the second game. Dutch in the second game is constantly trying to spin the public into sheep following a corrupt government, unaware that they're going into the slaughterhouse. However, the first thing we see in the first game is the two women talking about how corrupt the political scene is, immedietly showing us that the world Dutch was trying to sell isn't representative off how things are. I also think the pastor saying that Jenny need only to come to him is also a reflection of Dutch. They both present themselves as moral arbitors, despite both being wrong. Sets up the themes in the first game about Dutch and Ross being very similar pretty well.

    There's so much heart in RDR that it pains me to think that RDR2 is likely the last title Rockstar will produce with any real soul to it. Obviously GT6 hasn't been released yet, and for sure there's every chance that game's story might have some real heart to it. But GTA Online set such a horrible precedent in terms of what's most profitable that my hopes are not high and I sincerely believe that we've seen the last of R*'s genuine storytelling at least as far as original stories go.

    In regard to the crows. Crows in film and literature are common symbols for death. Not only is their appearance sinister, but they are also common carrion eaters and will frequently pick at any dead animal, humans included. Crows particularly like to eat the eyes out of dead creatures. They became common symbols for death and danger and no where else is that more common in westerns.
    The perched crows on the grave represent the death of the gang and it’s members. The crows perched at the fort in the first game are simply a visual representation of the danger John is walking into. If the crows are already nesting there in numbers then it means there’s a steady supply of food for them (ie dead bodies)

    RDR2 is simply a Piece of Art to those of us who truly see this masterpiece & all of the love, hard work & dedication that has been put into it. I don't even [play on it pc right now just my PS5 & the graphics are still breathtaking. Since 2018 when it came out to today in 2024 there are still videos or articles everyday about new things found in the game to philosophical tales and comparisons or just the lucky few who have just discovered this game. RDR2 is one of those very rare games that people, including myself, would trade a lot of "Gold Bars" to just experience this game for the 1st time again.

    In my opinion, Jenny's quote about not knowing the difference between a loving act and a hateful act is a testament to her innocence, naivety, and lack of real world experience. We learn how naïve and sheltered she truly is later on as she believes she can survive in the desert with no food or water on God's faith alone. She has never experienced true hate or evil, or the realities of danger and the harshness of nature and survival. She is a simple religious girl of the Church, who likely grew up sheltered under the close watch of her parents and the Church administration. She may hear of and read of bad things that occur in the world but has no concept of them, or experience of bad and hateful things being done to her.
    In contrast, that is all John has ever known. He has seen evil and been evil himself many times throughout much of his life. He knows what humans and the natural world itself are capable of. To hear such a naive quote must make his eyes roll, because he surely can differentiate between evil and hateful actions, and love and good actions.
    Of course there are instances where these lines become blurred, and revenge can be pursued from a place of hate towards the instigator and love for those who suffered at their hands, but these are specific instances. Generally, John could very easily tell Jenny what the difference is between hate and love, and what hateful people are truly capable of.

    Archer Fordam deserves a lot of respect at least when compared to his partners ans hugher ups. He was simply doing his job and didn't seem to take any joy in what they did to John and when it was all over he was respectful to John and i believe he was fully intent on honoring their deal and never seeing John again but Ross had other plans. Another detajl is I think he may have not been present during the beachers Hope raid. There is an agent standing in the firing squad outside rhe barn that is wearing a similar suit but its not 100% clear if it is him or not so depending on the facts there He might have even objected to the plan and staged out of it.

      interesting! my point for the natives were how R* used what the old ladies were saying for the many native story beats of RDR2, and 1 has some moments too.
      We still dont know some areas, like outside of Macfarlane's Ranch in hennigan's stead we have mescalero, what we can assume to be an old native settlement or area.

    As far as I'm concerned, the most compelling connection between one and two is when Ross and Milton confront Arthur while he's fishing with Jack. Ross says 'enjoy your fishing, kid, while you still can'. 15 years later, that same kid shoots Ross dead while he himself is fishing.

    • @BrinkPink
      @BrinkPink  9 днів тому +2

      I agree with you, them meeting up at a river is awesome, but sadly the fishing part is a minconception, Ross isnt fishing, hes in fact shooting quail...
      Which is something John told his son, Jack theyd do in the coming season, just as Edgar Ross and an army arrives at Beecher's Hope during the end of RDR1...
      Ross is also, horrible at shooting quail.
      Essentially Ross is literally doing (poorly) something you were supposed to do with your father, he even robbed you of that the bastard.

  • @thecowboy9698
    @thecowboy9698 18 днів тому +4

    My only regret regarding RDR2 is that we never got an option to have an alternative timeliness, based on personal choices presented in the game in certain sections, that allowed Arthur to survive, even with TB into the epilouge, so we could play as him.
    Some might think that's unrealistic, but look at real-life Doc Holliday, who despite his hard living lifestyle, lived for 15 years after his initial diagnosis at the age of 22, to finally die in bed with his boots off.
    I hate to say it, because John was the original star of the Red Dead Redemption game and I played the original back when it first came out, but after playing as Arthur, I honestly couldn't stand playing as John afterwards.
    Please don't get me wrong, John is a great character, but what I loved was Arthur's wit and how he genuinely seemed to enjoy life and had a fun side to him, whereas John seemed to be serious all the time in comparison.
    But I did feel compassion for John, because by the time 1911 roles around, John truly has changed and has tried to be a better man, yet sadly as John said in the first game: "Nothing gets forgiven."

    • @BrinkPink
      @BrinkPink  18 днів тому +4

      thanks so much for watching!
      understandable to feel that way, but i mean John uh genuinely enjoys life and has a fun side to him...they literally copied his character, retooled it a tiny bit and created an older brother aka Arthur for RDRII lol
      And honestly, Arthur is not a real happy dude. Hes described as a sullen man, sad, very often. Even by himself, or mary beth, well nearly everyone. He cant barely stomach looking at himself in the mirror.
      Dutch calls him a "big shadow case behind a tiny tree." aka Arthur is a useful ally but hes dumb, simple. People think hes a blockhead, and I think thats great.
      As we the player know hes not, just like John, thru Arthur's journal we can discern that for both of them.
      I mean also Arthur beat a sick man, who ran a kids charity, to death...Its something John didnt do.
      Arthur is the one doing strauss' dirty work, as strauss says himself no one else (including John) is willing to stoop so slow to conduct, usury is not a good look.
      All those mistakes, and looking the other way with Dutch's decline are super necessary for Arthur's Redemption to be meaningful, as he didnt exist in RDR1.
      So having him live after rdr2 would be a super weird choice, and definitely wouldnt fit into RDR's overall narrative and themes. Especially as Ross wouldve been hunting down Arthur too by 1910.
      Arthur's sacrifice is essential for it all to at least make a little sense for continuity, its what pushes Dutch waay over the edge to the crazed man he becomes in rdr1, just as it pushes John to eternally strive to be a better man..to try and change and do whats right.
      Personally I couldnt wait to play as John again, and I find the epilogue is this ultimate love letter to rdr fans.....but thats just my opinion anyway.

    • @thecowboy9698
      @thecowboy9698 18 днів тому

      @@BrinkPink - I get what you're saying and in terms of continuity because you said that Ross would be hunting down Arthur Morgan as well as John.Well, you could have Arthur dying at the very end of the epilouge, sacrificing himself to take down Micah Bell. I mean, that may not be perfect, of course, but it could fit the terms of continuity as well.
      Arthur's character, from his voice, to his height and build kinda remind me a little of John Wayne, who was always my favorite cowboy in cinema, and maybe that's another reason I liked Arthur more, plus if you do the Charles missions, like where you attend that gallery, when Charles gets smacked over the head by that lady with her purse, Arthur busts out laughing, whereas if you do them as John, he barely let's out a chuckle, which to me shows a huge differences in their personalities.
