It would be cool for red to be some old man (NPC) in a rocking chair smoking a cigarette on some porch at a random house somewhere and if you talk to him, he could re tell you the story of red Harlow. Even if it's a different universe or timeline, the character of Red could still exist. Just with different chronology.
Well Red has to exist in some form in the Redemption series considering u find NPCs talking about him. Sure the game might not take place in RDR 1 and 2 but that doesn't mean some form of events from Revolver can't have been adapted I'm pretty sure Rockstar have hinted that events from past games have taken place in some form in others
@@themaskedwander Wrong. Rockstar has stated multiple times Red Dead Revolver is its OWN universe. Those stories referencing events from Revolver are merely Easter eggs for fans of the 2004 title, they said it themselves. Fans are really bad at doing basic lore research.
@KC.45 u do realise that since NPCs know who Red is, that has to imply he has to exist in some form in universe, it can't b just easter eggs if multiple people seem to know about him. I'm not saying the game is canon to Redemption. I'm saying that some of the events of the game r. Which can b and has been allowed to happen in R* IPs They have done it all the time with GTA
Man I played this game so much on the PS2, and then again on PS4. The soundtrack alone is incredible. This story would make such a great TV series if done right
Red dead revolver was beautiful. Both in story and in game play. His story was so tragic that once you understand the full magnitude of it, you damn near felt obligated to storm that mansion and put one right in-between ol' govener "griff" griffon's eyes. He makes Micha look like an honorable man by comparison, which is saying A LOT, because we all know that after playing rdr 2 we see Micha in our heads whenever the word rat comes up in our day to day. God I love this game. A definite must play if you haven't already or watch a walkthrough if you can't get access to it yourself. Just for the story. Yes, it really is that good
I think it could be interesting for Red dead 3 for Jack Marston to begin to loose his way and become a more malicious figure like maybe Micah driven by the loss of everyone around him thinking what’s the point of doing good if he has nothing to fight for. But he then stumbles upon an old man in a remote area running from the law who understands what Jack is going through and takes Jack under his wing and sets sets him on the right path for him to become the next legend. At the end of the game it would be revealed that it was Red and that he didn’t reveal himself or tell anyone who he was or if he really even existed because it was never about the fame and fortune.
Multiplayer pvp was fun too. Red harlow original character killing everything and everyone between him and the grind of vengeance just felt right. Most people that seen him died or forgot him just a strange Wanderer similar to the Legends until they seen him in action.
fun fact: Red Dead Revolver was originally a Capcom joint. It was at a gameshow and was way more arcadey and over the top, and the Rockstar guys loved it. The game was kinda floundering in dev hell at Capcom, so Rockstar bought the rights and twhatever they made and made their own take on it
My idea is that Red Harlow settles down in the small town of Widow’s Patch since you can buy the deed to the saloon there in the game, so a business owner in a small town protecting it as it grows to be a larger more self-sufficient town and has a family
Red Dead Revolver was the game that got me into westerns. The songs in that game where a perfect starting point in discovering movies that weren't made by Sergio Leone
It's Rockstar. Better to die in your own game, than be turned into a pansy and have your head stomped in Lost and the Damned. And then they made Marston so unlikable in RDR2
RDR1 will forever hold its place in my mind as I played it first: it has a western atmosphere that the color palette, music.. honestly idk what it is that just makes it more Wild West classic feeling in my opinion. It may be the memories or how the story is set up, or just the fact you’re stuck in New Austin in RDR1, giving the dry desert atmosphere. I still haven’t figured out what it was about it that made it feel like more of Wild West cinematic, especially when RDR2 is far more cinematic.
I like to think that the story of Red Dead Revolver is just an over the top retelling of an actual story of a bounty hunting-gunslinger. It feels like something Levin (from RDR2) would write and make bank on
I so much want Revolver to be part of the overall lore/canon. I love this game to death and has such a great story. I would want a remake of this game with updated graphics and improved mechanics. And strongly believe that Uncle is NOT Red, not a chance. I'd like to see Red as a legend who just disappeared after his main goal was completed.
A friend and I used to sit down 3 days a week and beat the game and spent HOURS! Playing multi-player battle. Honestly. This game had the best couch pvp ever. Fking awesome
The main reason why rockstar likes to keep revolver sperate from the redemption series (same goes for the 3D GTAs and HD GTAs) is because it came before they were worried about continuity and it allows them to not worry about maintaining continuity with their new releases, especially when it comes to map layouts. Cuz imagine having to play a game like GTA VI on the OG vice city map
I have seen a lot of videos lately about speculation on what The next Red Dead game could look like. I wouldn't mind seeing a reboot or continuation of Red Harlow's storyline. Either titled "Red Dead" or "Read Dead Revenge"
Used to watch your channel years ago when I first started playing Red Dead. Completely forgot you exist, but I got a new PS4 and another copy of RDO finally, after not having one for nearly 2 years, and this video pops up in my recommended feed. Fate indeed. Also I'm a subscriber to the Red Harlow is Uncle theory and I'll die on that hill.
So long as they dont cut content i think itll be fine. Take mexico from rdr1 for example. If it was gutted or nothing compared to the US part of the map it would have felt just as bad as guarma.
Man, how dare you not even bring up the sacrifice of my boy Jack Swift? 😤The audacity. lol But nah. Really well done video. I love the way you summarized everything, almost like you were telling the legend yourself. There are a few things you left out that I would have loved to see included, like, as I said before, Jack Swifts death, or Buffalo Soldier, who wasn't even mentioned at all. But I understand this is specifically the myth of Red Harlow, so I get it. Other than those few gripes, this was an excellent video.
Jack Swift only helped Red assault Governor Griffin's mansion because Red saved Jack Swift's life from Pig Josh. THIS IS WHY Red Harlow definitely goes to search for Jack Swift after the events of the game. They have a close bond
An idea on how to open up the game if they ever do a remake: It starts with Uncle telling the story around the campfire, either during the van dir lind days days or at John's Ranch whichever y'all feel is more appropriate, it being a retelling as an Old West legend could explain away some of the more Fantastical and wacky elements.
Its a reference however it also fits the Old West Setting to have Red as a semi mythical figure of Folklore among the denisens of the Red Dead Redemption world, Also compared to GTA, the references to Red Dead Revolver are far more blatant as the NPCs are basically constantly talking about it, the closest GTA HD ever had of referencing the 3D universe was the C.J's gang being present in GTAV but thats it no real reference to the events of San Andreas.
You may think what you want about rockstar gamers, i used to play this game as a kid, as well as RD 1 & 2 and other rockstar games. they somehow manage to balance quality & business. they always deliver quality, which cannot be said about a lot of other game producers anymore.
I love the theory of Landon Ricketts being the real life version of Red Harlow. Guy does all this crazy shit then just settles down protecting people down south in Mexico
Red Dead Revolver is really underrated game. Yes, it is hard, but its so fun and enjoyable. But not that many people talk about it. Glad that Red got some spotlight
I think it would be a neat concept to do a sort of remake/retelling that fits in with the "Redemption" style of the world and is a little more grounded, but the original game is like the exaggerated story people tell. Or just just straight-up remake the original game plot; not usually into remaking good old games, but there's a lot of cool things that could be expanded on with Revolver. Would love more play time with other characters (especially Jack, who really should've gotten more than a single level) and see the newer gameplay try and do different mechanics/play styles for each of them.
This game needs a remaster and if Red Dead 3 ever happens. I think it would be cool if you was to meet red as an old man or middle aged depending on the time period of the game, but he needs to be cannon to the red dead redemption games.
You mean uncle? I know there's likely some lore reason why this is impossible, but I can't help loving the head cannon that uncle was actually a legendary gunslinger who got lazy in his old age.
i have a theory on how red harlow fits in the red dead universe, apparently are in a first person perspective telling the story of red harlow. how do i know this? well if you examine the title screen you'll see that you're in a room sitting in front of a desk, you're either a reporter, sheriff, or someone of importance that's telling the story to someone, and that someone is Red Harlow. so, you're basically someone in the Red Dead Redemption Universe telling the story of Red Harlow in the Red Dead Revolver Universe. that's why you hear references Of Red Harlow throughout Red Dead Redemption 2. You've told a story, A Wild Western Folktale, the story of Red Harlow, himself.
the story passed down from mouth to ear being told from generation to generation, as this of the reporter or sheriff telling his story to another colleague. and the story would spread on from the time of the wild west to the end of the wild west itself which is 1899 to which therefore is WHEN Red Read Redemption takes place. and that's how we hear references of red harlow in the universe of Red Dead Redemption 2.
So I used to think that I’ve never played this game, until I saw old footage of someone playing the multiplayer mini games and I remembered “oh sh*t!! I have played this! Waaaaaay back at my grandmas house”
I'd like to think Red Harlow's tale did happen in the cannon of his game, but in the Red dead redemption cannon there was a Red Harlow, his tale exacerbated and retold as legend: as any good storyteller would. There was a man that, in some capacity, did do those things during the mythic age of the Wild West. Not one-for-one with the same characters, a faceless Gunslinger whose deeds may have been selfish, but we're deemed as heroic.
If you ask me, I know it doesn't make any sense with the timeline, but Jack Marston and Red Harlow have more in common instead of uncle because they both witnessed their parents died

What I wouldn’t give for a Red Dead Revolver 2, from the perspective of a lawman chasing down the final gunslinging gangs of the dying west
Sure the game might not take place in RDR 1 and 2 but that doesn't mean some form of events from Revolver can't have been adapted
I'm pretty sure Rockstar have hinted that events from past games have taken place in some form in others
Red Harlow would be old as Landon Ricketts when John met him in Mexico Landon was in his late 50s or early 60s.
@@themaskedwander Wrong. Rockstar has stated multiple times Red Dead Revolver is its OWN universe. Those stories referencing events from Revolver are merely Easter eggs for fans of the 2004 title, they said it themselves. Fans are really bad at doing basic lore research.
@@KC.45 they can be easter eggs and world building info, nothing in universe says otherwise.
@KC.45 u do realise that since NPCs know who Red is, that has to imply he has to exist in some form in universe, it can't b just easter eggs if multiple people seem to know about him.
I'm not saying the game is canon to Redemption. I'm saying that some of the events of the game r. Which can b and has been allowed to happen in R* IPs
They have done it all the time with GTA
Red Harlow is in RDR2,in the hearts of all the gunslingers done wrong by a world experiencing growing pains.
Man I played this game so much on the PS2, and then again on PS4. The soundtrack alone is incredible. This story would make such a great TV series if done right
I still remember getting red dead revolver out of the cheap games in GameStop. It’s awesome to see how far the series has come
Red dead revolver was beautiful. Yes, it really is that good
”What are you doing with my pots n paaans” is something i still say in opportune moments
Red dead revenge
Multiplayer pvp was fun too. Red harlow original character killing everything and everyone between him and the grind of vengeance just felt right. Most people that seen him died or forgot him just a strange Wanderer similar to the Legends until they seen him in action.
The sun setting behind young Red is a nice touch.
The sun going down on his happy youth.
I still have my copy of Red Dead Revolver.
In the RD Redemption multiplayer mode, I set my character as Red Harlow for everything when I unlocked him.
I hope Red Dead 3s protagonist is young Uncle in the prime of the Wild West and see if he was actually telling the true stories in Red Dead 2
So... Red Harlow's family home is in New Austin, the little house at Cholla Springs?
fun fact: Red Dead Revolver was originally a Capcom joint.
Damn. He would’ve been a good adversary for Dutch’s gang.
that would’ve been awesome once a character hero now an antagonist to the new story
Red Dead Revolver was the game that got me into westerns. The songs in that game where a perfect starting point in discovering movies that weren't made by Sergio Leone
John Mason died in his own game.
Arthur Morgan died in his own game.
Red Harrow survived and won.
And got lumbago.
It feels like something Levin (from RDR2) would write and make bank on
It would be cool if some of the locations like Brimstone are in RDR3. The town can still do it's yearly quick draw competition.
It’s wild being 31 and completely forgetting about this game until you watch a video like this. I love any game with cowboys in it.
I think its dumb that red dosent exist in red dead, like why not? I would have rather met him than landon ricketts
He does exist, there's a couple npcs in Rdr2 that mention him
@@jwfanatic A couple of NPCs mention the name of the man the game is named after. We aren't even sure if he still really exists, or if he's a myth
@@heypistolero I mean I think that’s really cool idea though, but clearly he must exist in some fashion, myths aren’t born from thin air.
@heypistolero
he does actually exist in the redemption universe, just that the events of revolver are a bit exaggerated over what happened
rip Red’s dog 😞
The most depressing part of the game😔😔😔
Love the video not very many people even know that there are 3 Red Dead games one of my first games and still to this day one of my favorite games
Red Harlow in the rdr universe is just a myth, a legend people on the frontier tell to pass the time
Fun fact, Red Harlow is technically a Capcom character.
☝️😮
✊😐
huh... you're right. Revolver Remake when, Capcom?
Red harlow would go SO hard in smash bros
Pig Josh drove me crazy as a kid
Babe, a new cynic video came out.
It's been 20 years since I played it, I was 8 when it came out, and when I got to play it again on the ps5, I felt like I was a kid again
I can’t believe 90% haven’t played RDR1, that game was really freakin’ good especially when it came out.
I just hope there’s no pointless, half-assed Guarma-type mission/chapter in RDR3.
So long as they dont cut content i think itll be fine. Take mexico from rdr1 for example. If it was gutted or nothing compared to the US part of the map it would have felt just as bad as guarma.
Rdr3 needs to bring back the river monster
We will see in 2031
Man, how dare you not even bring up the sacrifice of my boy Jack Swift?
An idea on how to open up the game if they ever do a remake:
It starts with Uncle telling the story around the campfire, either during the van dir lind days days or at John's Ranch whichever y'all feel is more appropriate, it being a retelling as an Old West legend could explain away some of the more Fantastical and wacky elements.
Red vs The ugly gang is a john wick prequel
1:33 Why would you even make this second assumption? You could apply this logic to the HD Universe making references to the 3D canon.
Its a reference however it also fits the Old West Setting to have Red as a semi mythical figure of Folklore among the denisens of the Red Dead Redemption world,
Also compared to GTA, the references to Red Dead Revolver are far more blatant as the NPCs are basically constantly talking about it, the closest GTA HD ever had of referencing the 3D universe was the C.J's gang being present in GTAV but thats it no real reference to the events of San Andreas.
You may think what you want about rockstar gamers, i used to play this game as a kid, as well as RD 1 & 2 and other rockstar games. they somehow manage to balance quality & business. they always deliver quality, which cannot be said about a lot of other game producers anymore.
the dialogue in this game is burned into the deepest part of my memories
I love the theory of Landon Ricketts being the real life version of Red Harlow. Guy does all this crazy shit then just settles down protecting people down south in Mexico
Red Dead Revolver is really underrated game. Yes, it is hard, but its so fun and enjoyable. But not that many people talk about it. Glad that Red got some spotlight
I was always waiting for Red to be the final boss in RDR, it would’ve been sick.
Red Dead Revolver was goated.
The whole series is named after him so yeah he’s important and he’s always been cool in my eyes
Governor Griffin looks like Senator Armstrong- and the resemblance doesn’t end there
I have a feeling if they ever remastered Revolver, Red Harlow would be one of the coolest characters we've had in a while
I think it would be a neat concept to do a sort of remake/retelling that fits in with the "Redemption" style of the world and is a little more grounded, but the original game is like the exaggerated story people tell.
Or just just straight-up remake the original game plot; not usually into remaking good old games, but there's a lot of cool things that could be expanded on with Revolver. Would love more play time with other characters (especially Jack, who really should've gotten more than a single level) and see the newer gameplay try and do different mechanics/play styles for each of them.
great story telling brother!
In rdr2
I always use the Scorpion 🦂
Engraving on my revolver 😅
Another lil detail that’s a callback to Rd revolver
One of my Headcanons was that the entire story of Red Dead Revolver was a story Jack read. Jack did like western books afterall...
This game needs a remaster and if Red Dead 3 ever happens. I think it would be cool if you was to meet red as an old man or middle aged depending on the time period of the game, but he needs to be cannon to the red dead redemption games.
LOL why did he say “US Soldier?”
His name was Buffalo Soldier
You mean uncle?
I know there's likely some lore reason why this is impossible, but I can't help loving the head cannon that uncle was actually a legendary gunslinger who got lazy in his old age.
i have a theory on how red harlow fits in the red dead universe,
apparently are in a first person perspective telling the story of red harlow. how do i know this? well if you examine the title screen you'll see that you're in a room sitting in front of a desk, you're either a reporter, sheriff, or someone of importance that's telling the story to someone, and that someone is Red Harlow. so, you're basically someone in the Red Dead Redemption Universe telling the story of Red Harlow in the Red Dead Revolver Universe. that's why you hear references Of Red Harlow throughout Red Dead Redemption 2.
Waaaaaay back at my grandmas house”
its a shame they never left RDO in the remastered version of RDR1, the fact that you could play as red harlow in RDO1 was amazing on its own.
Original Red Dead is such a classic for me. Boy what are you doing with my pots and pans!
Some of the most Iconic boss fights and missions. I remember getting so mad as a kid trying to beat those duels (Especially the last two)
The third game. Will probably take place west and north of the current map. Which is likely where red's story took place
Red Dead Revolver soundtrack is maybe the best ever. I still after all these years listen to it.
I’m gonna have to get this game because it looks fire
Man, I would love for them to make a remake or remaster of this one with updated graphics just because.
If you ask me, I know it doesn't make any sense with the timeline, but Jack Marston and Red Harlow have more in common instead of uncle because they both witnessed their parents died
Uncle was one helluva gunslinger until the lumbago got him.
This needs a remaster in the new engine Th
