It pains me that people think Jack Marston ends up a villain after RDR1 when he's clearly a parallel to Red Harlow and it makes far more sense for him to be a hero.
Just what I was thinking. It's like the 1st Red game is the proto-version of who Jack becomes. Maybe the next game will bring Jack & Red together somehow.
its not that jack ends up as a villian, but he follows in his fathers footsteps of killing and things of the sort. john wanted him to lead an honest life rid of killing and crime, which he does not and therefore lets his father down. red dead redemption has no happy ending.
@@butterbandit9122tbf, John also let’s Arthur down for taking revenge at Micha (even he said to never look back) which then compromises John’s family to the government which leads to the events of the main game. There is only redemption in death
Technically no The stereotypical cowboy is a clean shaven white wearing morally good cowboy who's very talkative. Characters like Clint Eastwoods The Man With No Name subverted this stereotype with an anti hero like gunslinger. A man of few words who's prone to violence very easily, obtains a morally grey compass, is not clean at all and wears brown instead of white. This became its own stereotype, arguably more popular now and its the stereotype Red Harlow obtains greatly
@@SIEGTHEGOATFRFR He said that the imagery of this Western badass bounty hunter came is another stereotype. And Red's not a cowboy, he's a bounty hunter.
It would be cool for red to be some old man (NPC) in a rocking chair smoking a cigarette on some porch at a random house somewhere and if you talk to him, he could re tell you the story of red Harlow. Even if it's a different universe or timeline, the character of Red could still exist. Just with different chronology.
Well Red has to exist in some form in the Redemption series considering u find NPCs talking about him. Sure the game might not take place in RDR 1 and 2 but that doesn't mean some form of events from Revolver can't have been adapted I'm pretty sure Rockstar have hinted that events from past games have taken place in some form in others
@@themaskedwander Wrong. Rockstar has stated multiple times Red Dead Revolver is its OWN universe. Those stories referencing events from Revolver are merely Easter eggs for fans of the 2004 title, they said it themselves. Fans are really bad at doing basic lore research.
@KC.45 u do realise that since NPCs know who Red is, that has to imply he has to exist in some form in universe, it can't b just easter eggs if multiple people seem to know about him. I'm not saying the game is canon to Redemption. I'm saying that some of the events of the game r. Which can b and has been allowed to happen in R* IPs They have done it all the time with GTA
I remember when my dad rented Red Dead Revolver from Blockbuster for the PS2 me,him, and my little brother when he got older played many hrs on that game and I just recently downloaded it on the Xbox one beat the game again and completed the bounty hunter levels
fun fact: Red Dead Revolver was originally a Capcom joint. It was at a gameshow and was way more arcadey and over the top, and the Rockstar guys loved it. The game was kinda floundering in dev hell at Capcom, so Rockstar bought the rights and twhatever they made and made their own take on it
I have seen a lot of videos lately about speculation on what The next Red Dead game could look like. I wouldn't mind seeing a reboot or continuation of Red Harlow's storyline. Either titled "Red Dead" or "Read Dead Revenge"
The main reason why rockstar likes to keep revolver sperate from the redemption series (same goes for the 3D GTAs and HD GTAs) is because it came before they were worried about continuity and it allows them to not worry about maintaining continuity with their new releases, especially when it comes to map layouts. Cuz imagine having to play a game like GTA VI on the OG vice city map
My theory is that Red Harlow is from a work of fiction and Red Dead Revolver is us playing through the early corny western film adaptation of said fiction.
Its a reference however it also fits the Old West Setting to have Red as a semi mythical figure of Folklore among the denisens of the Red Dead Redemption world, Also compared to GTA, the references to Red Dead Revolver are far more blatant as the NPCs are basically constantly talking about it, the closest GTA HD ever had of referencing the 3D universe was the C.J's gang being present in GTAV but thats it no real reference to the events of San Andreas.
Maybe Red was just a folk legend; or a novel that's origins have been lost as such; and people who read the story as children grew up and took it as a reality. Think of how Rocky Balboa is on Wikipedia with a boxing record etc although he is a fictional character. Imagine that in the wild west with no sources other than stories and hearsay.
I'd like to think Red Harlow's tale did happen in the cannon of his game, but in the Red dead redemption cannon there was a Red Harlow, his tale exacerbated and retold as legend: as any good storyteller would. There was a man that, in some capacity, did do those things during the mythic age of the Wild West. Not one-for-one with the same characters, a faceless Gunslinger whose deeds may have been selfish, but we're deemed as heroic.
Personally I dont feel even Rockstar can be trusted with what is considered canon since they contradict themselves not only in the Red Dead series but they also do in GTA. They arent very reliable in that regard

You know, while the story of Red Harlow certainly exists AS a story in the Red Dead universe, I feel like the story is actually based on real events. As in - in the Red Dead Redemption universe, Red Harlow’s fictional story is based on a real story that happened in that universe. For one, we can find several places in both RDR 1 and 2 that greatly resemble places and moments from Revolver and all these stories must have come from somewhere. Who knows? I got to meet Robert Bogue (Red Harlow's voice actor) a few weeks ago at the Black Hills Redemption event. Such an amazing and personable guy, ended up chatting with him way longer than I should've. The way his face lit up when I pulled out a copy of RDRevolver for him to sign while the rest of the room went nuts for John Marston and Arthur Morgan... man, Red Harlow (and now his actor) will always be a personal favorite for me.
I think the Romanticised retelling is a good way to explain Red Dead Revolver. Its fitting since a good chunk of RDR was developed by Capcom after all. So it would explain the whimsy of the story
I heard it was more of a concept that capcom tried to do but failed so they sold their right to rockstar. Which is why rockstar owns it and its pretty much the start of their red dead series.. I could be wrong but pretty sure it’s somewhere around those lines

Red was my introduction to the Western anti hero bounty hunter in video games. He is indeed a badass legend and him getting his vengeance on Griffin was a perfect ending for his arc. 'It never was about the money'.
I like the idea of uncle being red harlow. He didn’t mind letting the tales be exaggerated because it would make it harder for people to associate a larger than life hero of folk lore with a laid back shirker like himself. Plus if it’s true, Red’s story begins with his family dying at the ranch, and ends with him dying at another ranch to save the family he found.
@@palmtree8082 OF COURSE NOT, he's OLD and ILL. That's like getting mad at a war veteran for not going into battle anymore. He's not a bum, he's retired and even though he has every excuse in the book to lie around and completely enjoy his retirement, he still takes the women out to have fun, stakes out new robbing opportunities for the gang, and sings songs to boost the gang's morale; Even when the gang broke up, he stayed to help his friend build his house. I know from second-hand experience, that's HARD for someone with back problems to do. Bro is up there with Arthur, in terms of "selflessness".
Red Harlow's original revolver would be the grand daddy of a treasure to have. Think of how many legends and outlaws he's bested with that thing and he gives it to that buffalo soldier for the goofy ass scorpion revolver. That's a weapon you put in a museum.
I think it could be interesting for Red dead 3 for Jack Marston to begin to loose his way and become a more malicious figure like maybe Micah driven by the loss of everyone around him thinking what’s the point of doing good if he has nothing to fight for. But he then stumbles upon an old man in a remote area running from the law who understands what Jack is going through and takes Jack under his wing and sets sets him on the right path for him to become the next legend. At the end of the game it would be revealed that it was Red and that he didn’t reveal himself or tell anyone who he was or if he really even existed because it was never about the fame and fortune.
Red Harlow the man before Arthur Morgan and John Marston had shocked his way into legend in rdr universe. He’s an interesting character that you tell kids bed time stories and camp fires . If you can think about it , Red Dead Revolver is the foundation of rdr franchise ever existed
Played this game as a kid and its half the reason that I still love Western movies today. PS2 era was really just peak story game era imo, laid the ground work for such great things to come later.
Red dead revolver was beautiful. Both in story and in game play. His story was so tragic that once you understand the full magnitude of it, you damn near felt obligated to storm that mansion and put one right in-between ol' govener "griff" griffon's eyes. He makes Micha look like an honorable man by comparison, which is saying A LOT, because we all know that after playing rdr 2 we see Micha in our heads whenever the word rat comes up in our day to day. God I love this game. A definite must play if you haven't already or watch a walkthrough if you can't get access to it yourself. Just for the story. Yes, it really is that good
So long as they dont cut content i think itll be fine. Take mexico from rdr1 for example. If it was gutted or nothing compared to the US part of the map it would have felt just as bad as guarma.

I think it would be pretty epic. Our three could be a backstory of Red after years of chasing bad guys, he had to disappear for his own safety. What a great way to hide from outlaws as sloppy drunk in a band of outlaws.
If rockstar games just revisited & remade their games (themselves) they would still make bank I know GTA 6 is going to be madness but if they just remade their more linear games like this, manhunt & the warriors they’d have both an old & new generation saying shut up an take my money 😂…
RDR1 will forever hold its place in my mind as I played it first: it has a western atmosphere that the color palette, music.. honestly idk what it is that just makes it more Wild West classic feeling in my opinion. It may be the memories or how the story is set up, or just the fact you’re stuck in New Austin in RDR1, giving the dry desert atmosphere. I still haven’t figured out what it was about it that made it feel like more of Wild West cinematic, especially when RDR2 is far more cinematic.
Multiplayer pvp was fun too. Red harlow original character killing everything and everyone between him and the grind of vengeance just felt right. Most people that seen him died or forgot him just a strange Wanderer similar to the Legends until they seen him in action.
A friend and I used to sit down 3 days a week and beat the game and spent HOURS! Playing multi-player battle. Honestly. This game had the best couch pvp ever. Fking awesome
My ultimate wish for Rockstar would be a remake of Red Dead Revolver that uses the RAGE engine and plays like Redemption. Or they could finally give us L.A. Noire 2. Either way, I wish they would focus more on their other IP's instead of giving us GTA VI.
Likely considering his proximity to story telling Cowboys and Uncle he could have heard about Red Harlow's Stories and wrote essentially the Dime Novel definitive edition of Red's story.
there are some stupidass theories that uncle was red harlow but everyone knows that "one shot kid" was known from starting a day from a shot of a whisky
Wish they would remaster red dead revolver. One of my favorite games from the PS2 era lol... Also I think he's Arthur's real father. Hopefully in RDR3 we will get some answers. But they rockstar doesn't give red dead any love. I believe it could out sale GTA if they did.

@@111paolo2there’s plenty to do with rdr4. Plenty of stories they could come with through the Wild West period no different than gta being set in “civilized” times.
I got to meet Robert Bogue (Red Harlow's voice actor) a few weeks ago at the Black Hills Redemption event. Such an amazing and personable guy, ended up chatting with him way longer than I should've. The way his face lit up when I pulled out a copy of RDRevolver for him to sign while the rest of the room went nuts for John Marston and Arthur Morgan... man, Red Harlow (and now his actor) will always be a personal favorite for me.
i love Steve Haines & sometimes Troy
I loved Revolver, I remember when Redemption 1 came out and in online mode I always used the Red Harlow skin, just to keep his memory alive.
This game needs a remake.
Remake. With RDR2 tech.
No a remake
no remaster only remake
Yup.
Not everything needs a remake.
I think the Romanticised retelling is a good way to explain Red Dead Revolver.
Its fitting since a good chunk of RDR was developed by Capcom after all. So it would explain the whimsy of the story
What whimsy? Red Dead Revolver is the perfect Spaghetti Western I'm game form
Wait, CAPCOM?!
@@Astreious Yes
ua-cam.com/video/w4MDed5u4MI/v-deo.html
I heard it was more of a concept that capcom tried to do but failed so they sold their right to rockstar. Which is why rockstar owns it and its pretty much the start of their red dead series.. I could be wrong but pretty sure it’s somewhere around those lines
"It never was about the money"
it was about the Lumbago
@@andrediaconu2878 GODDAMN I both love you and hate you for beating me to it

W red for making gun sounds in the first loading screen
This is one of the things that always got me with the franchise is that everybody and their mom knows john and Arthur but not Red the guy who this franchise takes it’s name from!
P.S. since I’ve got 61 likes by this point it’s safe to say that there are still a decent amount of people that still remember Red Dead Revolver!
Games old as hell and Red Dead only got popular with RDR1.
@@azr_Ħ they may be true but that still doesn’t mean red dead revolver was a bad game! I’ve played it myself and had some good memories beating the game and plus you got to play more than two characters considering rdr1 and 2 only have two playable characters in each game!
@@tristanjones7682lol i remember playing this with my nephew when i was a teenager. Game was decently hard.
@@garrettromer8499 yeah i think off the top of my head the level where you play as general diego! The part where you had to destroy the cannons was the most difficult part of the level!
@@tristanjones7682Revolver is a great game. I played the shit out of it back in the day. Love it. Just wish they'd make an outfit for Red Harlow.
Red was my introduction to the Western anti hero bounty hunter in video games. He is indeed a badass legend and him getting his vengeance on Griffin was a perfect ending for his arc. 'It never was about the money'.
A red dead revolver remaster would be so awesome
A remake would be better. I recently played the original and it's a masterpiece.
I would be fine with that if uncle wasn’t such a bum and doesn’t represent any of the selflessness or heroics Red Harlow does.
Red Harlow doesn't get enough respect.
The only disappointment I had with rdr2 was the fact that they didn’t have ponchos in story mode.
Fun fact, Red Harlow is technically a Capcom character.
☝️😮
✊😐
huh... you're right. Revolver Remake when, Capcom?
Red harlow would go SO hard in smash bros
Played this game as a kid and its half the reason that I still love Western movies today. PS2 era was really just peak story game era imo, laid the ground work for such great things to come later.
I think its dumb that red dosent exist in red dead, like why not? I would have rather met him than landon ricketts
He does exist, there's a couple npcs in Rdr2 that mention him
@@jwfanatic A couple of NPCs mention the name of the man the game is named after. We aren't even sure if he still really exists, or if he's a myth
@@heypistolero I mean I think that’s really cool idea though, but clearly he must exist in some fashion, myths aren’t born from thin air.
@heypistolero
he does actually exist in the redemption universe, just that the events of revolver are a bit exaggerated over what happened
Babe, a new cynic video came out.
rip Red’s dog 😞
The most depressing part of the game😔😔😔
Playing the original as a young kid was one of those low key blessings. Its unfortunate many people didn't get to experience that
We call him Uncle round these parts, like classy folk.
Yes, it really is that good
I just hope there’s no pointless, half-assed Guarma-type mission/chapter in RDR3.
So long as they dont cut content i think itll be fine. Take mexico from rdr1 for example. If it was gutted or nothing compared to the US part of the map it would have felt just as bad as guarma.
Rdr3 needs to bring back the river monster
We will see in 2031
Was gearing up to do proper analysis videos on Arthur & John. Figured i should start with the OG, focusing more on his impact of RDR’s universe.
Edit: this was hit with a copyright strike. So if theres weird audio. Thats why. Sorry😭

Uncle is red harlow rock Star. big Secret.
What do you think? 🩸🖤🦂😈
Diego is Javier's great uncle.
Governor Griffin looks like Senator Armstrong- and the resemblance doesn’t end there
I think your 90% estimate is a bit high. RDR1 was very popular and still is.
Don't tell me over 90% of players haven't played Revolver 😭 Don't date me like that.
LOL why did he say “US Soldier?”
His name was Buffalo Soldier
It would be cool if some of the locations like Brimstone are in RDR3. The town can still do it's yearly quick draw competition.
Red vs The ugly gang is a john wick prequel
Red Dead Revolver was goated.
Pig Josh drove me crazy as a kid
I still have my copy of Red Dead Revolver.
In the RD Redemption multiplayer mode, I set my character as Red Harlow for everything when I unlocked him.
My ultimate wish for Rockstar would be a remake of Red Dead Revolver that uses the RAGE engine and plays like Redemption.
Or they could finally give us L.A. Noire 2. Either way, I wish they would focus more on their other IP's instead of giving us GTA VI.
I like the theory that all Red Dead games went on too be written and publicly by Jack. Even Red dead revolver could just be a Story Jack wrote
Likely considering his proximity to story telling Cowboys and Uncle he could have heard about Red Harlow's Stories and wrote essentially the Dime Novel definitive edition of Red's story.
there are some stupidass theories that uncle was red harlow
but everyone knows that "one shot kid" was known from starting a day from a shot of a whisky
I’d play RDR3 even if it takes 80-100 hours to complete the story missions alone if the protagonist would be Red Harlow
Wish they would remaster red dead revolver. One of my favorite games from the PS2 era lol... Also I think he's Arthur's real father. Hopefully in RDR3 we will get some answers. But they rockstar doesn't give red dead any love. I believe it could out sale GTA if they did.
