I remember that I finished this mission with never going out of my town, except for wood and for building walls. It was so terribly stressful. The way of this video is much easer. What is very important is that with your first attack you should cause massive damage to blue and yellow. So go out with three or four trebs and buils additional Mamelukes and Cavalry Archers. Once your first attack was successful and blue and yellow are almost down, you can expand to the gold mine in the north of your city and go one opponent by the other. Its actually pretty easy that way thanks for the video.
Using OrnLu's approach here, the best cheese position to build the wonder in would be the very north once you get the Franks and Genoese out of the way. You could wall it up several times over. Maybe create a little maze for enemies to wander into.
This scenario was a lot of fun once I figured out that the Persian outpost has a dock that you can trade with. Spam 25 trade cogs, buy resources to make a deathball of mamalukes, put a couple castles at the front to shread the TKs. Nobody touches your wonder
I played this campaign, yesterday, in hard level...very tough ! After a long struggle, all that remains is an ennemy woman (of Richard). She didn't stop building house, and whatever (that I destroyed) ! So I built wall around her to stop her, ...it worked and I built my wonder just beside her. What an humiliation ! I have an old version of this game offline. The graphic is less but the game still funny !
I LOVE those elephants you are gifted. I have wrecked entire attack waves with those without losing a single one. I do wonder if there is no Persian campaign because as one can find in this level, as long you can deal with their hard counters their elephants are almost unstoppable.
Looks like the developers have changed the game a lot since this video was made and made the AI extremely aggressive and progressive, even on standard difficulty. I really don't see the point of making the game more difficult even for the lowest difficulty level.
Idk if it's cause I'm on HD edition or what, but these enemies are nowhere near as aggressive and coordinated as they are on my standard campaign. They're rolling in with 20-30 siege units accompanied by an additional 25 cavalry units. This is prior to even starting the wonder build. Maybe 15-20 minutes in and boom, it's like Hiroshima on my ass.
Yeah. I just tried this strat in the video with 3 trebs, all of the starter troops with 10+ more elite mamelukes. Didn't even get past the troops defending the north. lol I know I'm a noob, but damn! There seems to be many more powerful bombard cannoniers. Plus I'm getting trashed from the east by a massive force. absolute rubbish.
@@CptFoot. nah this happens if you dont attack them (they basically dont have alot of resources yet to build an army at the start). I did the wonder mission, you will be bombarded by several waves of bombard cannons, trebuchet, mangonels and paladins (and the fking navy). not only that, he destroyed the Franks first, one of the two strongest army next to teuton (richard uses briton so only siege weapons are the threat). he basically killed the strongest at their weakest point.
Good job! This mission is absolute cancer. Teutonic knight, paladin, siege, bombard, canon gallileon, longbow spam is ridiculous. Like how the fuck do they get all the gold for this? AI cheats man
I always played defensive building castle and army etc waiting for the enemy to come to me and failed all the time.. Saw this and went on the offence from the start and man it was so easy.
I found this scenario incredibly easy. I started building the wonder immediately with every villager I had, pumping out fishing ships for food and more villagers to add to the wonder production which I placed in the south west corner next to the castle so no artillery could reach it. When the wonder was ready I put all the villagers on gold and stone and a few for food and wood. When I was attacked I just had my surplus villagers run around building extra guard towers with all my stone. Eventually I had so much gold that I could pump out a bunch of units and with them and the elephants I flooded the perimeter. Because I finished my wonder so quickly I won the game before the big siege assault by red even arrived.
This was billed as one of the hardest campaign levels in the game but I managed it pretty easily. The huge stone and gold reserve inside the city walls should give you more than enough for a wonder, additional castles and towers. I placed my wonder on top the the block of houses in the middle of the city and protected it by building two castles and five towers around it. Then I made a massive army of camel riders who had the pace to quickly sprint outside the city walls to take out trebs and other siege. Also managed to push to the southeast where there was another goldmine outside the city. I can see how this could be a nightmare. The enemies did breach my city walls once and took out a tower or two but I think I can defend brilliantly now thanks to playing through these scenarios and watching OrnLu's videos of course. EDIT1: Like many of these levels, the text said I only had pop cap of 100 but it was actually 200. I like OrnLu's approach here. Just attack the enemies. If you don't build a wonder for them to siege, they never get organised enough to beat you on land.
I don't know why it never dawned on me to look for videos like this, I LOVE this game and I'm pretty good at other rts games, just finished all SC2 campaigns on the hardest difficulty which was incredibly satisfying.but I've Always struggled to beat this game on anything except the easy difficulty which isn't very satisfying because easy was always just to easy but medium was just to hard, of course I was being lazy, so I decided to actually commit to getting better and playing through campaigns on medium and when I got stuck I would just trial n error til I beat it and surprisingly it's not been to arduous, BUT, when you're not aloud to build stone walls or castles that's where I suck, I am more of the turtle style where I wall of my area as fast as possible, defend it while I make it impenetrable and while maxing out my tech THEN build a max pop army and go out n destroy, but on easy they let you do that, on these difficulties, they don't, I could handle it just land but when you got cannon galleons, it's just to much, seeing your aggressive early game strategy has been invaluable to me.
you gotta figure out how to crank that slideshow/cutscene volume up my man I have my TV on max volume and can barely hear it lol. Maybe its me end though I'll try n double check ( I know this is a funny comment considering how long ago the upload was but firstly I comment to please the ever fickle algorithm demons and secondly its all outta love)
I somehow did it, but it took forever and I was close to rage-quitting so many times. Jerusalem and Richard have way too many siege weapons, they kept killing my army a couple of times! Will not try this strategy again, especially not in intermediate and hard mode!
Dude your playing this on hard ? Im doing standard on xbox and completely getting my ass handed to me. Non stop spam of siege untis. And cant gather enough resources. My army just gets used up defending. Even when i take out blue and yellow they just rebuild and keep the siege units coming. Two hours in and all resources are gone. No trees left.
Damn here I went again looking how somebody beat it and took like 5 times as long. I basically made the mistake and not finishing off enemies because I constantly got swarmed by gray. In my game they actually did level like 90% of my initial town with only the castle in the corner near the water left and a few buildings. I did torture myself so much getting down to 30/100 over and over again. So expensive if you are not good enough to keep your army alive. I am still not sure if I should play with aggressive stance by default or not. On one had I hate it when I not pay attention, and they just sit around and do nothing and even get shot from afar but not dare to go there if they are archers. But they constantly run into towers, TCs, Castles ... stopped counting how many castles they destroyed and I rebuild. Ended up building the wonder while searching for shit on the map. They constantly rebuild EVERYWHERE. Ended up having Richard and Grey resign b4 the timer to defend it went down. As good as this worked out in this video I still wonder if it's not better to attack grey first.
Jeruselum produces the units easiest to deal with so I personally dealt with them last (other than Genoese). Genoese don't really produce land military so I ignored them until last and they don't threaten acre much. Franks, Templars and Richard are easily the scariest enemies. Once they are mostly dealt with, spamming mamelukes is easy win.
why didn't they just make a secret tower for the AI that has 25% more HP and 25% more dmg instead of putting everything on a tiny hill, having everything on one of those just looks terrible after they get destroyed
Eh, personally I'd prefer the small hills. The current setup is more simplified and more consistent with existing game mechanics. But that's just me *shrugs*
The campaign was pretty ez. Im a new player and im playng on hard so its kinda hard for me. I have completed the campaigns on eazy 2018 and now im coming back. The first mision was ez, the second one was time consuming couse the Raynold's navy were sending paladins at 8 minutes and absolutly oblitiaeiting my base. I needet to run with all my will so the safety of Orange's town, but after that ones i mustered an economy it was pretty ez. The third mision you can speedrun by buying food in the market to start castle age upgrade right from the start, then you take your vills and army and rush the Hospitaliers camp, by the time you sucesfully get to the relic you are able to build a monastery and recruit a monk. After that just run with the monk and defend them with your last army. The siege of Jerusalim is another no brainer. You just get 1 vil and build a siege workshop near the hospitaliers base. It falls pretty ez. Then you just bloom with 2 TC's and build some Trebs and i like building Arbaletisters. The fifth mision (Jihad) was the hardest for me couse of the macro i needet to do to finish it. I just sent my vills outside the city to colect wood, and then i sent 1 to the top of the map to bloom with another TC. The second TC was instantly atacked both by yelow and blue. But once i buildet a castle there and alied with the Tiberians (you need 2k gold not 1k) it was a walk in the park. I created a myghty fleet and just destroyed Tyre couse all the building were in range of the Canon Galeons. Then i just destroyed Ascalon which is pretty ez. The last mision (The Lion and the Demon) was pretty hard too, but as long as you destroy the Templars, Franks and Genoese in the first 10 minutes its ez. You just atack with your army and build some rams, and the cities fall pretty eazely. Dificulty:4 Enjoyment:10 (Saladin is a menace)
I cannot believe you allowed the accursed tower to fall. What are you? A simpleton ? You completely underestimated Jerusalem in your need to go on early offensive 🤦🏻♂️ You allowed them to breach your walls and destroy your castle right under your nose

That's cuz you didn't realize you have an ally(persian) to the south, who gives you infinite gold hence infinite resource
I miss being able to build the wonder on the gold island.
Yes that the easy way hahahaha. In HD edition wonder still can build in the gold island
Why miss a stupid cheese? Never played the other titles but sounds stupid. You can play on normal or casual if its to hard for you.

The first time playing this didnt read english good enough so i beat them all trying to find a wonder to "defeat" XD

Killed everyone

It's also historically accurate that Saladin was defeating the Crusader siege outside of Acre instead of just defending the city.

Can you build on the Persian island? After you err....evict them.
How do you make your interface show all the scores bottom left and the timer in the middle?
Mamelukes and Hand Cannoneers. Works like a charm. 👌
in the old aoe2, there was a lot of annoying meatball thrower bombard canon :((, where did they go now?
Bombard cannons and also the hand canonneer. Come alongside with swarms of capped rams of the templar. Annoying af :(
