I used to block the first shipment and I win the scenario but when I watch this I said to my self be a man play without cheat or any dirty tacticks and I am so proud I win but I HATE THİS MİSSİON 🤩🤣😠
Really hard scenario. I remember doing the blockade thing in the HD version. Now I went it “clean” and took me four saves. The real problem are those towers. Without them it is possible to destroy all red docks amassing galleons and cannon galleons. I even destroyed grey’s castle with ships (but it was rebuild). Anyway, happy I got through this and got the achievement. For me is the hardest scenario in the game.
The real problem are those towers, and also the fact that the ships you have to guard aren't smart enough to stay out of their range. Look, we charted a safe path for you if you just stay out here...
You actually can block the incoming transport ship with 4 ships. And then you can develop as long as u want. Defeat all enemies and then release the transport ship in the end
@@MaaxMarc Yup, still works but remember to be ready for the Han Navy attack on your village. Build a wall (your Cho-Ku-Nu and 2 monks should make quick work of the cavaliers) and some extra ships to deal with the 5-6 Galleons too (so they don't disrupt your blockade of the transport)
you can even block the incoming transports after that, if you do it incorrectly though the transport will instantly die or slip to even the tiniest crack, requires a lot of micro to pull off
I've finished this campaing yesterday just by doing that haha. Use some transport/fishing ships to block the way of the first transport so you can have all the time you want. Be careful to keep some Galleons guarding your starting point because after some time, some Han Navy Galleons (orange) and a couple of Cavaliers will spawn at your starting colony, but you can deal with them only using Galleons. With an insane micro, I managed to destroy the fortified tower at the southeast of the initial colony using a Cannon Galleon, then wiped out the Han Army (Gray) only using Galleons, without destroying their market (they resigned, but keep an eye on this establishment later as it will be attacked by Light Cavs that will spawn randomly). Then established a Town Center over there and traded with the market to have an infinite income of gold and boomed. Then, I massed galleons and destroyed every Han Navy ship I ran into, being careful with the towers and destroying them using my cannon galleons. After that, using Cannon Galleons, I destroyed the Castle of Admiral Chen just at the north of the initial colony (is at range of the CGs), then destroyed the wall where the beach is, destroyed the trees so I could unload a small army of skirmishers and halberdiers to use them as cannon fodder while I constructed a castle just on that beach. Then I trained a couple of trebs to take care of the fortified towers while using trash units as meat shield, and wiped out the entire Chen's island. Then, I massed insane amounts of heavy demo ships to destroy every ship and tower I could find, especially the fortified towers and enemy docks in order to cripple the enemy ship production. Thanks to my infinite income of gold, I didn't mind to use heavy demo ships to do this. You may want to mine the gold in the small islands too and capture the relic at the eastern side of the map, next to cyan's village. Then and only then, I let the first transport pass. Have some Galleons to patrol certain areas because despite you defeat your enemies, random Galleons from orange will spawn. In my case, they appeared at southwest of Chen's main island and at west of yellow's city. Also have some Halbs at your first base where gray was because of the Light Cavs that will spawn to harass you, and that's pretty much it. At this point, you just have to be patient. Have fun while all the transports arrive at yellow's, purchase the 20 Dragon Ships in order to unlock the achievement, and by the final shipment, mass Villagers and have them ready next to the wonder to finish it quickly and win the scenario.
This mission made me rage so hard so many times, but I finally found a way to get through it and win, it's definitely my most satisfying win by a long margin when it comes to Single player. Here's how my strategy went: -As you kill the spearmen/longswords at the start, build a market, get 100 stone and build a town center there, being able to develop an eco makes this way easier, but you have to be extremely quick as the time limit given to you is super tight, building a town center will activate the Chinese +3 villager bonus which is super useful if you are short on food. -Build some houses in the first island where the first batch of gold can be found, your population limit is 150, so abuse that to every degree. -Pay the pirates, no, seriously, the third ship is placed literally next to their island, you really don't want to fight that battle, on top of that doing so removes the mercenaries next to three very important gold mines which contain WAY more than 2000 gold. -Buy the dragon ships, they are basically a better, more powerful version of the fireships and they are absolutely brutal against other ships. -To destroy the fortified towers, get at least 40 ships and raid them, Canons are especially useful, but place them behind other ships as these will be the most useful to destroy them I was finally able to beat this after my 9th try, they really wanted to make the only Chinese campaign be remembered.
I also did it one by one. In the one mission where you can buy fully upgraded elephants I wasted a ridiculous amount of gold because nothing would happen half the time(even tho I had the pop space for them), so I was worried the same thing would happen in this mission lol.
I am not saying I am pro or something, but the scenario sure got some touches after you recorded this (for instance the dude giving you the 5 times the same message about being careful with the ship has now petard icon, not villager). Now the amount of ships red sends to your base is tremendous, I would say much more than in your video. Also, to get to the 2nd point, I had to fight more ships. But maybe it is just me! :)
At the start it helps to build a dock and blacksmith, then later university, so you can get bracer/galleon/chemistry and add galleons. Also a market so you can sell food. Means you have a decent navy by the time you get to the main lake
It's a small thing, and you can get around it by selecting all idle naval units by pressing Tab twice, but playing as Blue on a huge lake was a decision on the designer's part.

I cheesed this map after trying it once, blockaded the first transport at the small pass at the top. Built a town center after chopping enough trees, then built an economy. Chopped the trees to the Han army, then marketed enough gold to wipe them out, build a castle at the beginning to stop the ships that spawn, and calmly worked my way through all the Han and pirates to Nan, building ships to clear out the bay the entire time. There's something anachronistic about this campaign, Nanchang wasn't called Nanchang when the battle occured, but we all know how careless Microsoft devs are on designing the AoE campaigns
Build 2 docks and 8 fishing ships at the start. Set 8 fish traps and send 3 vills to gold and rest to chop wood. It becomes very, very easy to mass war galleys after that.
Okay call me a little bitch but I was WAY too afraid to actually take on this challenge as intended so I cheesed it HAAAARD like some of the comments explained. You block off the first transport ship then I turtled my base and boomed economy like crazy. First defeated the Hun Army. Used Siege Ram to take out the Admirals first super tower - the 17 range towers that basically insta-kill everything. Then I cleaned up the seas with ships. Boom boom boom more economy. Cannon ships to take out sea-based super towers, heavy demo ships to take out red docks, paid the pirates to fight for me then killed them off with onager attack ground, then literally defeated Admiral Han (red) entirely and then hun navy entirely. Paid the Chinese peasants over 2000 gold in tribute for the smoke on the water achievement, set my army of 60 or so elite Chu Ko Nu archers to attack all the walls in red base to get No Suntzu Light achievement and finally let the ships carrying all the resources go through uninhibited to complete the mission. Here's the mad part... my completion time... NINE AND A HALF HOURS ha ha ha 😂😭😂 Oh also got Chinese victory achievement. 3 achievements. Almost 10 hours.
i hate this scenario with a passion

Зря на замок накинулся, расшевелил их.
This is the worst mission I have ever played in ANY video game in like 20 years of gaming!
Reskin, didn’t like that
There's something anachronistic about this campaign, Nanchang wasn't called Nanchang when the battle occured, but we all know how careless Microsoft devs are on designing the AoE campaigns
caraeless? almost 90% of their campaigns are totally accurate in terms of history
i cant even win this cheating
awful mission. timer, no oportunity to deytroy industry, fukking see battle with a lot of ships!!!
The worst scenario in the game imo...
I really hate this
Build 2 docks and 8 fishing ships at the start. Set 8 fish traps and send 3 vills to gold and rest to chop wood. It becomes very, very easy to mass war galleys after that.
For the love of god zoom out man
Okay call me a little bitch but I was WAY too afraid to actually take on this challenge as intended so I cheesed it HAAAARD like some of the comments explained.
NINE AND A HALF HOURS ha ha ha 😂😭😂
Oh also got Chinese victory achievement. 3 achievements. Almost 10 hours.
Nice!
