There's a lot to love about Blooming, but to me it stands out for the sheer genius of the songwriting. The structure is brilliant, and goes beyond even their usual awesomeness of different instrumental backdrops for each verse, little surprises, etc. In this one, they introduce distinct thematic elements, and then after a ripping guitar solo, drop down into this vocal bliss, which introduces the "far away..." melodic theme. Then they interweave the themes together at the end, in a way the builds dramatically - and it's SHEER GENIUS SONGWRITING. Secondarily, it's also a good example (to my ears anyway) of Akane's unusual drumming style. If you listen and just focus on her, it's anything but what you would normally expect - and it's GREAT!

Kanami: "I think both melodies and riffs are the keys. The riff must be impressive, but the melody is the king and it must be memorable. That’s my image."
This is Kanami's superpower IMO. As kickass of a guitarist as she is, she's a melody savant. There are melodies everywhere in most Band-Maid songs. Some may be in the background and only last 4 bars.
Pay attention to how Misa adds urgency to the main solo, especially at the very end. Then the floor drops out and you land in heaven with the angels signing. Also, how the outro solo meshes with the vocal melody is just perfect.

  • @craigfenson

did you notice the intro and outro riffs mirroring each other? that's dream theater-level transposition/inversion smarts. if that isn't a genius songwriting decision, i don't know what it is.

'Band Maid will make everything better'. I never thought I would agree that a band of musicians can literally make things better. Bad day, bad news, frustrated. Don't worry, stick on a Band Maid song, never boring, always fun, always enough going on in every song to fill an album. 'Far away, take me somewhere far away' . Band Maid just do that every time.

Probably still my #1 Band-Maid song. Lotsa reasons (Hello Akane!), but one of the main ones is "Blooming" is also known as "The Homework Song". Kanami asked all the members to provide input to the track knowing only the bare bones of it, the other Maids wrote certain parts, and Mincho stitched it together. VOILA!.... M A S T E R P I E C E! 🕊

One reasons Band Maid is so good is - even though this song is not in my top ten list and my first reaction is to skip to the next song it is so well done, I keep listening and by the end have to say it is a really good song. Even the songs that don't connect to you are just so well composed and played you still listen to them. Some songs I'm just not ready for and become a favorite. Like Influencer first time I heard it on the first listen it had some very impressive parts, but as a whole it was a challenge to my senses, I wasn't sure I like it that much. I a week later it was in the top ten list with 60 other songs.
Band Maid calling shows servings is perfect. Except every song is 12 course meal, Kamani is the master chef. The best restaurant on the state, the kind of meal you go out with your wife on a major anniversary, the meal costing more than you paid for rent when first married.
Kamani sends out these two little bites, of course Misa pours the wine that compliments it. Saiki explaining every course and wine that is paired with it. Two perfect bites, some of best things you ever tasted, you want more, you need more. But this is Band Maid, Akane sweeps in with perfect timing removes those plates while leaving a small bite the cleanse the palate. Just a little bite, still one best things you ever tasted. Kanami sends out the second course, another explosion of flavor. Miku coming to your table to see that everything meets your expectations and her own. You tell her it is wonderful but in the back of your mind you are thinking these little tastes are incredible but you going to have to grab something more substantial to eat when you are done. There is no way you will be full.
But Kamani sends out course after course. Each just bite or two each one building on the next. Building and building to the main course, even the main course is just a half dozen bites but somehow you are stuffed full. Every course you want more but the master chef Kanami knows just the right amounts. Akane slows everything down so you can catch your breath till Kanami sends out dessert.
Your head is spinning, your senses overwhelmed, completely satisfied. You start to standup, when Miyu runs over no, no ,no you have 32 more servings.

Funny thing, this was "album filler" - they needed one more song at the last minute so Kanami asked everyone to give her something and she put it together into _this._ The opening riff: MISA, the "far away:" Miku, and so on. The end result is maybe one of their best songs.

Hello my friend!!!...I am very curious to see that you have not yet made a reaction to Dimash on your channel and I don't know if it is because no one has sent you a suggestion for you to do it...Someone must have made that suggestion to you before, after all , we are talking about who is considered "The best singer in the Entire World" at this moment....So, no one better than you, to make a reaction video and analyze this incredible singer, with THE MOST AMAZING VOCAL RANGE of the World, who is leaving all the experts, literally with their jaws on the floor....In 2017, a 22-year-old singer from Kazakhstan, named Dimash Kudaibergen, was invited to participate in the famous Chinese program for professional singers called "The Singer"... In his first appearance, Dimash covered one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse"!!...Since then all this madness began on the internet, UA-cam and social networks worldwide and he is already considered the best singer on the entire planet!!!... It is almost impossible to see a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges of 8 octaves, that is, the 88 keys of a digital piano, which allows him to reach all registers, both masculine and feminine, that is, he can sing as Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Contratenor, Contralto, Mezzosoprano and Soprano!!!...You can see in UA-cam to all kinds of experts (Vocal coaches, analysts, singing teachers, singers, youtubers, reactors, etc.), who have dedicated themselves to watching his videos and verifying for themselves that what is said about him is completely true...In addition to all this, Dimash is capable of singing in more than 12 languages...In all his concerts worldwide, tickets are sold in just seconds, via the internet, due to the immense popularity he has worldwide...Anyway, I think you haven't met this impressive singer yet, so here is the link to his LIVE PERFORMANCE of the song "Sinful Passion" at Sochi in 2018, and if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you...Warning: You have to be prepared for thousands of views, comments and new subscribers...Link of the song:...ua-cam.com/video/W9FlDMCo8LU/v-deo.htmlsi=FeChki639aJASx0b

We performed this song on the special edition of our 10th anniversary tour held in February of this year, and 20 of the 23 songs were composed of songs other than Yokohama Arena, and all of them are masterpieces.

I had a similar problem with Yokohama Arena video. Half-way through something was corrupted in it, and video and audio started to be out of sync. Video would play very fast and finish in approximately half the time, while audio played as normal until the very end.
The solution I found in the end was to remux the file first to MKV using MVVtoolNIX, and then remuxing it back to MP4 using built-in feature of OBS Studio. And voila, it was fixed.

Top tier Maid. I almost cried when they played this live for us in Charlotte.
Kanami uses her tapping here, not to show off, but to serve the song. She rises and rises toward that crescendo into the bridge, hitting the precise note to match Saiki’s first words where the bridge begins.
No big deal as a musician because that’s what we’re supposed to do. Except most musicians aren’t humble enough to restrain from “shredding” or are serious enough about songwriting to do what she does…every single time.

Wait! You can't be happy about a Band-Maid song being corrupted during a reactor's reaction. It's on page 810 of the Maidiac Official Guide of Rules and Regulations. 📖Wait! I just noticed the sniff emoji. Maybe you weren't happy. Never mind... 🙄

Oh-Ren-Ji. It's just Japanese for Orange. A lot of people say Aka-Nay. That's not entirely incorrect, but sounds like Octopus to my ear. I prefer the Ah-Kanay pronunciation. That's just me.
