Yes, Miku CAN play some leads when Kanami needs her to. In fact, Kanami has said that Miku can pick and strum faster than she can, but her fretting isn't as fast or as accurate her own. When they need LOTS of notes Kanami will step up, when they need lots of CRUNCH, Miku steps up. And Onset is the song that made me a Band-Maid fan for LIFE. And Kanami LOVES her delay, so much she has different delay pedals on her pedal board. And they go from 4/4 to 5/4 back to 4/4. And Onset is one of the few songs Kanami uses the Tremolo on. The tiny hat was retired as to keep it from moving around it was affixed so firmly to her head it was actually painful after a full show. And the Ladies are the Full Package, when it comes to Rock Stardom, the world just hasn't figured that out yet.
Nobody composes complete songs and writes riffs, solos, and rhythms like Mincho. And out of all those notes, she has to write Miku's and backing track guitar parts that fit seamlessly into the song. Plus she writes or gives ideas to the other members, too! So much respect. Thx, JD!
Very well stated I really think mincho doesn't get enough credit but for people like you stating facts and givein5credit where credit is do I thank you be well
They opened the February 2020 Line Cube Shibuya concert with Rinne - their entrance music, then a drum solo that kicked off Rinne. Talk about a slap in the face to wake up the audience! They have a few instrumentals: Onset, Without Holding Back, the elusive Go Nuts and Don't Be Long, and From Now On.
“Rinne/Reincarnation”followed up with “Onset!” We all got served today. Nice reaction! That was first time for me hearing that performance of “Rinne/Reincarnation” and as always, live is better! One of their heaviest. You got it all correct; “Onset” is no time waster and it does have that 5/4 section. Isn’t it interesting that you can listen to Band-Maid instrumentals and not realize that until it’s nearly over? P.S. Yes, “Tiny-hat-san” very kawaii/cute. I like to call their career at this time the “Tiny-hat Era”
Stopping by to prove that most Wolves don't just listen to Lovebites. The Maids may not be true 'Metal', but that doesn't keep them from being a Great Band! Same great Reaction for a great band too. 🤘🐺🤘
6:23 yes, 'onslaught' is one of the few compositions where they used something other than 4/4. the other song where mincho-zilla went trigger-happy with time/phrasing is my personal fave, 'sayonakidori'. she overlays the rhythm with 3/4-2/4 but under common time, a 3/4-5/4 twist that's basically the same as previous, and a full-on 3/4 waltz.... + a vai-esque unison stunt towards the final chorus. a very sneaky songwriter, to put it mildly. the main culprit with messing with the sense of time is the fill beast. her downbeat is regularly thrown around bars, akin to an overly playful dog toying with her rag doll. certain sections of 'domination' and 'dice' come to mind. minor impressions from those who held these two songs in high regard: 'rinne' was a testament to their ability to play thrash and heavy, until they released the dizzying 'different'... which was later topped by 'black hole'. as for 'onslaught', this was thought to be a highlight in their mastery of their instruments, until 'without holding back' came. and then 'from now on'.
"Wow Miku" , "Goddamn they are killing this", "Oh shit, Misa, Misa, Misa!", "Damn Saiki oh my word" , "Man the way they write these songs are so awesome ", "Akane!", "Wow .. this is bad ass dude", "That's so cute" "Kanami!", "Miku is so awesome ", so whatcha listening to? Motley Crue? Steel Panther? fck off , this is the real deal - BAND freaking MAID 🤯 Love how they melt my heart while musically stomping my face, thanks, Viva the Maids peace and love Po 🙏🎼🥁🎤🎸🍻
For the longest time only the OMV and an abbreviated Live-To-Tape version for a television show was available. I'm glad this version of 'Rinne' came out. Though I wonder if you're getting all the low end with earbuds. Yes, we all miss the Tiny Hat. It was originally on MISA.
Our little pigeon has gone from just holding the guitar in the original Thrill video to an awesome partner for Mincho (who apparently taught her to play). Who wouldn't want our shredding demon to be their teacher 😁❤🤘
Reincarnation translates as Rinne...hold on, don't I usually give translations from Japanese to English? Talking of which, I've made a version of the MV to this song with English subtitles I added but it's on FB, not YT. The MV to Rinne is worth watching as it's all filmed on an 8mm camera that was older than the band members, which the band decided to use to illustrate the concept of time passing and reincarnation. Or something. Miku always writes deeper lyrics than she gets credit for, usually multi-layered with multiple meanings! ONSET is one of their best instrumentals, though I'd have to recommend FROM NOW ON, their last one.
IMO, 2019 is unquestionably the year of their rise as a major rock band to silence the doubters. The level of guitar reached by Miku is an explanation for this since these two bangers Onset and Rinne bring the proof. Very good choice JustDunk. THANKS.
When EVH passed, Kanami paid her respect to him and said this song was inspired by him. She mentioned that she learned her tapping from watching him and that he was a big part of her growth as a guitarist, along with others such as Santana.
Rinne is one of their heaviest songs! And yes Saiki did just tell everyone to 'Shut up'! 😃 Onset is a masterpiece! Kanami just put on a clinic! dbl ♥ Yer next Band Maid double video should be Bubble & Blooming! Just saying 😳
No secret I'm a big fan of Band-Maid music videos because their m-v's provide a lot of history of the band and personalities by following comments/discussions instead of just watching them play on stage live. There is some cool history behind "Rinne" that is lost watching live.
Misa was originally the one supposed to wear the Tiny Hat but said uh-uh, not me! So Akane volunteered to wear it but quickly found that it wouldn't stay on her head during the more animated drum parts unless it was so tight that it hurt. So now its a collector's item.
UA-cam Music will play the audio of your liked YT videos. 🤷🏻♂️ The Maids are remarkable rock composers and Kanami’s use of the tapping melody in Onset and in Without Holding Back is stellar songwriting, imho. Next? Have you done the Manners/Black Hole combo? Take care and rock on 🤘🏼 🔥🎸🥁🎤🎼😀✌🏼
Many fans mourne the passing of "Tiny Hat". In 2014 it belonged to Misa who passed it on to her mate Akane soon after. By 2019 it was gone. The big question is- where is it now?
Miku's rhythm guitar skills have come a long way. Kanami typically writes rhythmically challenging songs so mailing the rhythm isn't easy. She's got the natural sense of rhythm, though all 5 of them do.😊
Black Hole is another metal genre song. The official video of Onset is a little different sounding then this. Another must listen is From now on they play it live to give Saiki a break.
They wrote Rinne to slam critics who said their music was too Pop-py. BTW, you'll notice that the writing allows all of the members to shine, often at the same time.
MISA MISA MISA!!!!! MISA MISA MISA!!!!! sorry to burst Your bubble but some of the second Guitar parts in "Onset" (mainly the parts where Mincho is tapping) are Backing track
Rinne and Moratorium are the most metal like of Band Maid songs. Sad the old Moritoriumlive is not on UA-cam if one of you guys have a link to it send it to Dunk.
Yeah sadly Onset is hard to find, along with a few other songs. I now officially own all their songs but it was not cheap getting some of them from physical copies that are no longer in print.
I agree, I have been collecting every CD, DVD and Memorabilia since 2014 that I can find. My collection is complete so far. Just waiting for the new Band-Maid Greatest hits Volumn one and two to come to my front door. I have also every magazine that Band-Maid has interviewed in. Your right it is expensive. 👍👍BAND-MAID FOREVER - "There Can Only Be One"
They released "Bubble" and "Glory" singles on the same day, 16 Jan 2019. However there was also a limited edition box set released that had 5 cd's - 1. "Bubble"/"Smile", 2. "Glory"/"Hide and Seek" 3. "Onset" (Live) 4. "Puzzle" (Acoustic Live) 5. "Anemone" (Acoustic Live). It's extremely rare and if you can find a full 5 set copy be prepared to sell your house!
Band Maid changed my views on good music. Say the truth I can’t find anything close to their musicianship. Nowadays, a song to be considered good for me it has to have at least a few elements Band Maid songs always have. First, there must be signs of instrumental mastery, or vocal mastery. Second, transitions should be prefect. Third, choruses should not be the same. Say the truth I am disgusted by music I hear on radio, and even old “gems” aren’t so gemmy as I thought before!
When you have RINNE, BLOOMING AND SCREAMING at the start of a show your in MAIDIAC heaven.
LCS Baby!

Without Holding Back and From Now On are two more instrumentals from Band-Maid you need to hear!
Agreed, plus Don't Be Long (no video, but there is a live out there somewhere) and the instrumental version of Giovanni too.
@@bandmaidfanATL Also the Dawn Winery Theme! My favorite of them all, so far, is "Giovanni", great either way, but especially as an instrumental!
Without holding back is the best, soooo good.
Onset is still my favourite. Apart from instrumental extract of Giovanni, other 3 have similar vibe. Still love all of them though.
You, sir, are a connoisseur. A pleasure to enjoy this great music with you.

Two of my legit top ten Maids hits--can't go wrong with that. When I'm Reincarnated, this is what I want to hear at the Onset of my new life.

Hell yeah🎸🤘

RIP Tiny Hat. You were loved and will be missed, but Akane just rocks to fscking hard for you to remain.
Tiny Hat is resting with Mikio. (RiP). And yes there is a pic of The Kami's hanging out with Kanami/Akane after a show. Mikio wearing her tiny hat.
@@yolandria aww, that’s sweet, but sad.

Reincarnation. Another underrated song. ❤❤
Lucky enough to hear this live last week in Anaheim for US debut of this song. It kills live

Onset alternates between 4/4 and 5/4 as you said
With a couple of measures in 2/2 right after the 5/4.
Metal Pigeon, Po! 🤘👅
Nothing to say much .... Miku really now play guitar :)
I don't know of any other band who do instrumentals.
Sadly, Onset isn't on Spotify - they never released it on an album. My "Band-Maid instrumentals" playlist only has three songs.
