Shokz brings the latest iteration of their Open Ear Bone Conduction Headphones, and the OpenRun Pro and OpenRun Pro Mini do not disappoint.
These are pen-ear headphones for anyone who wants to be active and exercise without having any type of earbud inside their ear canal.
It's one of the most comfortable, if not THE most comfortable experience you'll have with Bluetooth headphones while being active.

OpenRun Pro Mini is definitely worth the price for comfort and versatility. Glad you clarified that sound quality is not comparable to in-ear buds or over-the-ear headphones.
I've used these ear buds bone induction from Shokz for several generations, and I absolutely love them. Great for working out at the gym and exception for outside exercise, where you want to be aware of your surroundings, especially at night. Give them a try. You'll love them.
Yes, I’ve worn these when they first came out. Very comfortable when I need a break from wearing earbuds in my ears.
Damn I remember watching you 10 years ago on CNET as a kid. Just saw you on a Snapchat ad. Good to see that you're still going and you haven't aged a single bit!
We know it’s you Brian.
@@C3KNG wtf lol
I’ve been using the Open Run Mini for about a week. What I like about them is that they are comfortable. The sound is good for podcast and general music, (enough to take the edge off of a long distance walk or run). Sound is tolerable for phone calls. $50 SkullCandy ear buds sound quality is much better. However, I hate how sweaty my inner ears get when running w/ earbuds in them and sometimes feels like they are going to fall out and sometimes do. The unrestricted air flow is a relief.
I have Shokz OpenMove. They are definitely better than the previous generations. Big improvements. I use it often. The vibration is not intrusive. I also use it for Teams VC calls.
Love the Shokz openRun pro!!! Just ran a half-marathon in them!
Congrats! 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
Another Brian here. I have to say, Shokz are the best sports buds I've ever used.
The thing I was looking for was decent water resistance. That's critical if you work out (running, cycling, gym), because if sweat gets in the salt will kill your electronics. Other brands have died on me. But the Shokz seem to be well sealed, and the charging port is magnetic. Shokz are good enough for regular sports, although NOT FOR SWIMMING.
The battery life is also exceptionally good and they are comfortable all day.
That's the pros. I have a few cons, which are annoying, but far from dealbreakers.
First off, the rubber coating on the ear-pads came off on one side. Mine were in-warranty, so the dealer replaced them, no questions asked. Unfortunately, after about two months, the same thing happened with the new pair.
The good news is that I don't think it makes any difference to the sound or waterproofing. And the Shokz still grip as well as ever.
I also have a few bluetooth niggles, but that could be my fault.
All in all, I highly recommend Shokz. They're great for sports as well as everyday activities. Especially the pro model, with even longer battery life.
Cheers
Since I've had both regular and mini size, the easiest way to quantify the difference for me is that for the regular size, you have about 1.45-1.25 mm (below 1/2 inch. or a small finger-width size of wiggle room) behind the head, whereas the min version is about 0.5-0.4mm (below 1/4 inch) from the back of the head. It's not massive, but the mini fits me better, although I have very short hair. If you have actual hair, or a big neck, or you need to put on a helmet, they might be too tight. In all other departments, the regular and mini are identical.
Best is to try, of course.
Just tried these at the mall and am considering them as a gift for my wife as her ear canals just don’t fit any earbuds (they always fall out). I was surprised by how good the sound was on these.
I've had mine for a couple of years and I love them. When I want the deeper base I use ear plugs with them on. Try it.
Just got a pair of minis on BF! Trying them out now and so far I like them
Just got a pair today. Totally worth it
Great for podcast, audiobooks, and phone calls. Also great when your browsing through youtube or Fb videos, better than the speaker phone forsure.
I've seen them a LOT on my flights. I was curious which brand were they.
Super cool tech IMO
thank you brian this is all I had to watch to finally click buy 🙏🏽👍🏽
If I had to choose between the two, I would choose Openrun Pro. I have used it before and it works very well, with good sound quality and wearing experience. However, I switched to Wissonly Hi Runner this year because I need a headphone that can be used in many scenarios, and the usage scenarios of OPenrun Pro is very limited.
What is the difference between open run PRO mini and Open Run mini?
the pros are supposed to sound better but I don't agree -- the volume doesn't get nearly as loud as the non-pro version.
10 hours is a great battery life. I’ve thought about these style headphones but I’m curious to how they sound to the Bose sport open ear audio headphones. I know those aren’t bone conduction but I like that they’re not in the ear. Regular headphones can definitely get uncomfortable, I’m rocking the Amazon echo buds 2 as my everything headphones and I feel that way sometimes.
Why not manufacture it with a adjustable band size? How much more would it it cost them to make it? It’s already very expensive. Consumer discretionary is collapsing.
I've been looking for a pair of open ear headphones, these look great.
I just got the open run mini yesterday. I like the comfort, but they are the worst headphones, audio-wise, that I’ve ever heard. Reminds me of when I was a kid listening to my transistor radio. It’s just not meant for music. I like it just for YT viewing with dialogue, but even music videos sound bad. Im wondering if the Pro mini will be a better choice for me. I really like the style, but audio quality trumps looks.
I tried both in store and the pro mini was noticeably better, like way better.
How's the mic for calls during walking or other activities? Can you be heard clearly by the other person?
Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day!
THANK YOU FOR THISSSSS ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How is the call audio quality. Does opposite person can hear well
I'm wondering if this is just good for outdoor runs or also the gym??....Can people around you hear your music?
Thank you Sir! 😀
I read that some people use them for swimming also, how can that be?
Think you need to ask that model you hire to model the headphones out 😂😂😂
hi, it seems that with my OpenRun Pro Mini, the "digital assistant" function triggers on my iPhone, but the mic on the OpenRun Pro Mini doesn't work with Siri.. it only works with the mic on my iPhone..
I’ve seen them at Best Buy over 2 years ago
I use the beat studios buds Beats Studio buds vs ear buds bone
Mini seems uncomfortable. Still seems too big on the arch. Depending on the position, audio kind of sucks. If worn over a bun audio is good. If worn under a ponytail/bun audio is too quiet.
Do yours come with the foam ear plugs
What is the elastic headband included used for?
That’s very interesting
Proprietary charging ports are super lame - they used USB C in the past and no change in IP-rating. Taking these for traveling will require packing another uni-tasker cable. Its annoying and unnecessary. Hopefully that EU law for electronics smacks some sense into the company and they switch back to USB C.
Be careful buying aftershoz mine stopped working after two years one day they just wouldn’t turn on plus the sound is not great.
Does somebody know how the bass is? For me a good bass is important while I'm running!
I mentioned how you're not going to get the best bass with these by design. It's above average but if bass is your priority, open ear headphones don't excel with that.
won't somebody actually measure the mini and standard? Just saying 0.83" difference doesn't provide enough context
Do need to change hait
Looks like a winner. Can listen to some great Trump rallies with these! ❤️😁
??
Where we go one, we go all!
Lol. Politics aside, didn't expect this to be the top comment
The charge lasts long enough to hear ALL 34 felony counts 😂
Not a weird comment at all.
do not buy this junk, they sound like am radio. total waste of money
I think you missed the point of these wireless headphones...
It's not for people who want killer bass. If you want bass get JBL. You can't have great bass and hear outside noise too 🙄
