How is having a proprietary magnetic connector a "feature" on the more premium headphones than USB C? As someone who wants to avoid managing multiple cables, especially when traveling I'd choose the MOVE than the others.
I have used the open run for a year now… very comfortable and have been very happy with it… unfortunately… the charging port started to corrode and rust… maybe because of my sweat… now the port is deformed and can no longer charge. Lesson learned… now i bought the open move to try out… hoping to avoid what happened to the charging port.
I like my open move better than the open run pro. When im wearing ear protection at work on a construction site i can actually hear the music louder and better
Own the OpenMove and even though the sound is not the best, I treat it as background music. I paid £65 for my headphone. The button controls are great. I like the fact that I can charge the Moves anywhere and don't need to worry about USB-C cables. I would hate to lose or damage the propriety cable for Run or Pro. Good detailed review.
The reason that people complain of that the sound is bad is probaly because of that there's sound coming into your ears through the more "normal" way. And if you are around roadnoise and you can't get the quality of the sound then buy some earplugs. The earplugs only function is to block sounds from the "normal" way sound comes from. The amount dB they block and how detailed that you want depends on what type of earplugs you buy.
Just saw a ton of people using bone conduction headphones while traveling through airports this last week. You've nailed it with these reviews. Thanks!
Shokz are great! I’ve been wearing open run daily for audiobooks and quite often I forget that they are on until I get a phone call and realize I don’t need to hold my phone up to my ear. Just bought the pro as the + button is wearing out but it’s lasted me over 3 years. I rate the open run: 9 out of 10, the only downside is you can’t hear the audio around white noise (fans, refrigerators, compressors, air conditioners, etc.) I hope the open run pro will fix that 😅
This technology is so cool. I have ear issues because I'm prone to getting ear infections, and a lot of times my ears hurt during a run because I have to shove my earbuds into my ears so hard to get them to stay in, even with the kind that clip around your ears. I also don't like the idea of getting sweaty and hot and having my ears basically acting as a closed off incubator for bacteria. I'm going to the store tomorrow to see if they have any for people to try before buying, because the only thing keeping me from taking the plunge is not knowing how bad the audio bleeding is and not knowing the audio quality. I think this tech has the potential to really help some peeps with medical issues, so that's great. I have a deaf friend with a brain implant that connects to an earpiece that kind of lets him hear, and this seems like a baby version of that, without the need for brain surgery lol.
If you can't find them locally, keep in mind they offer either a thirty day or a forty five day money back guarantee. (Can't recall exactly, sorry.) You should know within a few days whether or not you can go with these.
I have the move that i bought about 2 years ago I get over 12 hours of use a day I work as a security guard overnight and bought them so I could hear my surroundings while I have a UA-cam video playing on the background
i do feel that these are slightly overpriced in general, but they do sound good so long as you keep the volume below about 85-90% which you should be if youre using them for their advertised purpose; if you try to crank it they sound like a$$. i got the openrun pro and overall im happy with them, this is not my 1st bone induction headset and my last one (from a different company) had the same volume issue so its probably just a quirk of the technology. i do like the way the controls are layed out on them, and they are COMFORTABLE, i have often forgotten i was wearing them.
This is very interesting. It's my first time hearing about bone conduction headphones. This sounds really appealing to me because I'm always listening to music and have to respond to people. I'm definitely going to research this more because I want a middle ground between earphones and headphones and this seems to be the case. My top pick so far would be the Pros, mainly sounds quality, for battery life & it can be used at lower volume. I listen to a lot of bass heavy music and use earphones and headphones for long periods of time. Also the band going around the back seems great because it wouldn't mess up my afro. Just one question: are you able to listen to music leaning your head against a wall?
If you usually listen to bass heavy music, you will probably not like these. Even though the pro does have some bass to it, it's no where near a cheap pair of headphones. These are great for watching youtube, listening to podcasts, just anything where you prefer to hear the vocals and mids more. They're also great for people who are outside a lot, whether it's for exercising or working because they can be aware of their surroundings. I would also say that they are good for office work as well, if you tend to talk to the people around you while working. They're really not that ideal for enjoying music or watching movies because they really do lack bass.
Awesome Video, My question is how was the user experience as a person who wears glasses? Definitely interested in these for running but come in contact with wild dogs and animals sometimes and want to have more awareness during my run. Would love to know how nice they play with glasses frames.
Hi, great question. Wearing glasses go well together with all three models, and best with the open run pro and the open run. My advice is to put first your glasses and then the headphones
Thank you for the exhaustive video. Which model would you suggest for just audio books listening, considering that sometimes the volume of the recording is quite low. Thank you.
Is it possible to skip forward and back in the middle of a song or podcast? For example 10 seconds backwards in case you miss something during a podcast? Maybe if you momentarily loose concentration or if the noise of a bus drowns out the sound?
I own and love the Pro's, ditched the airpods. Definitely a great product and I average 9.5 hours between charges without letting then go dead. Have them everywhere now.
