As a electronic technician whos's fixed all types of electronics, computers, TV's, radar detectors, cell phones etc. I said to myself this has to be the dumbest suggestion yet to fix my Keurig that won't turn on. NOTE: I should mention its early morning and I don't feel like taking apart my machine to troubleshoot it. I came to UA-cam to see if there was a quick fix. I tried popular suggestions - using windex to clean the screen, or unplugging the machine and wait for a couple minutes then plug it back in, to holding down the brew button while plugging the machine in, etc... none of the suggestions worked. Then I found this suggestion which I'll admit I thought there was no way it will do any good... but... inn desperation I ran a toothpick around the perimeter of the display rather than using a knife. OMG... IT WORKED! (He said while sitting in the corner humbly eating his hat)
I tried numerous things including taking the top off and cleaned and pushed the wiring down for a good connection...nothing worked.... I took the knife edge and cleaned out the bottom edge IT WORKED!!! MANY THANKS!!! Happy New Year!!!
I do not know how you did not damage the screen by using the knife or thin blade as you did in this video. One wrong move and that screen is 100% toast. You got very lucky!!!!
This worked for me too. A little tip for others: I think the main problem for most people will be on the bottom edge, where gravity pulls dust and grime in. Instead of a knife, I placed the wet part of my Windex'd paper towel over my index finger and used my finger nail to get underneath the bezel there. The grime came out and the screen works perfectly again.
Thank you!!!!! Started running the knife point along the top and nothing happened but on the left side of the screen I could feel the "grit" and the screen popped up. Would have been taking the whole thing apart based on another video and then watched yours. Easy fix!
Well....I'll be damned. I didn't actually think this would work for me. Thought you just got lucky. But seeing as no other options (including the Windex option) worked, decided to try it. And my KEURIG IS NOW ON AND PREHEATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, thank you SO very much for providing a real solution to this continuous issue I had been having. Curious too, I was inclined to remove the screen initially, but thought I should scour the internet a bit more. Thank you again and Have a Happy New Year! :)
I did your method and it worked! But minutes later, only the On/Off symbol appeared again. I cleaned the screen again and used your knife method again, but it didn't work. I tried repeatedly, but still, only the On/Off symbol appears. Is there another solution please?
There is zero chance this is the fix. Perhaps it's pressing something on the board back in place, but where you are scraping is between two exterior pieces of plastic.
Luke Peters well regardless it’s been a year and it’s still working perfectly - didn’t fix anything- just cleaned the funk that got between the “two pieces of plastic”
wish this worked for me :( first few times, the windex did work, but then one day later, it stopped working again. tried this but only got plastic scraps from possibly cutting too hard. thanks for the help though
I don't think I would use a knife ever, please unplug the machine and use a toothpick. You can even wrap the toothpick in some paper towel to aid in the cleaning.
