Thank you for the idea!!! I have numerous LCD panels in perfect condition from obsolete Android devices, but I wasn't sure what to do with them. It's frustrating to have a perfectly good device that's become useless artificially.
Luckily, my old iPad 1 still has a decent original battery. I mainly use it for:
    - Watching UA-cam videos (using the last version of Chrome that works)
    - Listening to various podcasts
    - Playing a couple of old games
    - Streaming music to a Bluetooth speaker
However, apart from UA-cam, I can't use it for much else, especially not on HTTPS sites as the certificates have expired a long time ago.

Sure, for generic Android tabs, but I'd keep Apple stuff intact and sell it on the retro market in 30+ years time for more than bought for. Personally though, I don't buy overpriced Apple junk.

Do I slide it out sideways? Pull strait up?!? I tugged on it a few different ways but I'm afraid I'm going to damage something if I apply more force. Do you see my dilemma? Also, when you plugged that connector in, @4:59, your hand covered up the action, so I can only get a vague clue from that. If it were possible to just assemble the back of the iPad back and use a 3.7v to 12v up-converter to have the flat battery powering the board and display that would ne nice. A small slim box with the board and buttons on the back would make it portable to use for a few hours. The links provide an alternative solution with a board including a 720p display for 15 (60) euro's. Stunning price if you want a TV screen in your kitchen with a FireTV dongle. I am not sure the audio will be available but their most be a headphone out socket or even stereo pins on the board. Nice video, THANKS.

That's pretty interesting as a DIY project but unfortunately under the current economical conditions makes no sense whatsoever. I have to admit I like it though but I would never recommend anything like this as a practical exercise. Spending extra money on those display drivers along with getting a non-standard resolution 10 inch display without a case is simply nothing more than a hobby project.
