I am, too, but then I think about how Elvis has been portrayed over many years, and many people never gave him a chance. The BS Elvis is racist thing is another thing that has kept many black people from checking for him. One of the few good things I can say about youtube is many, many people of all kinds, have now discovered Elvis.

Even though Elvis released it in 1972 the Grammys for some reason overlooked it for a Grammy. Then when Willie Nelson released his version of always on my mind the Grammys gave Willie a Grammy award. I do not mind Willie Nelson but I personally think the Elvis version is way better!!

Elvis is my favorite singer of all time. When you discover Elvis you don't just become a fan, you fall in love. He was a natural, the music and rythym just flowed through every fibre of his being, he had a huge vocal range, his voice was so soulful and he really knew how to emote lyrics, he had amazing technique, not to mention being drop dead gorgeous. Try listening to these songs:
American Trilogy - 1973 Aloha from Hawaii
If I Can Dream, Baby What You Want Me To Do, Trying To Get To You, Trouble/Guitar Man - all from the 1968 Comeback Special
Bridge Over Troubled Water, Polk Salad Annie, Suspicious Minds, Patch It Up - 1970 Las Vegas
Elvis on the Frank Sinatra show (he sang 3 songs including a duet with Frank)
    Sylvia/The Sound of Your Cry
    Stand By Me
Long Black Limousine, Power Of My Love, Wearin That Loved On Look, 1969 studio album
In my Way, from the movie Wild in The Country
Some earlier studio songs, Such a Night, Surrender, Now and Then there's a Fool Such as I, Treat me Nice

Yes -- he could sing! You are in for such wonderful listening (as well as watching) experiences if you continue down this Elvis path! I encourage you to listen to all of his performances in his 1968 Comeback special, e.g. I also had a lot of preconceptions about Elvis before I saw the Elvis movie last winter, and then I began listening to the real Elvis. I have been blown away by so many of his performances and I now can't believe the false images I had had of him before this year. Some of those preconceptions were quite unjust to him.

I was not born until a few years after he died, and my parents were into other singers (eve while making sure I knew who Elvis was and that I knew a handful of his most famous songs) and I never encountered any serious/knowledgeable Elvis fans until recently. I absolutely love his music now and think he was exceptionally gifted at arranging music, too, as well as singing, obviously, and with no formal training, either. I believe there is a Heaven and I share you prayer. That's a very sweet thought. Blessings to you! -Marie

The guy to the left of the screen was Red West. He was one of his bodyguards. But Red was quite a singer too. At Elvis' request Red laid down tracks and the musicians were stunned at how well Red could sing. Red wrote a number of songs for Elvis and others. A song along the same theme as "Always On My Mind" is "Separate Ways" composed by Red.

If you haven’t listened to Kentucky Rain yet you should. That one was written for him around the comeback time, along with Suspicious Minds, and Getto.
I never understood why Kentucky Rain didn’t get the attention the others did, when I finally heard it. It’s phenomenal to me. Wasn’t till I realized it was on a Country Album. It didn’t hit the radio stations I listened to during that era. Haven’t found it live on audio video just audio. I think it would have been in the top hits like the other two if it were not onlyreleased on the country tracks.

New subscriber. Thanks much for your reaction. Btw, when you see Elvis rehearsing in this red shirt, know that he was rehearsing in the Main Lounge of the International Hotel in Vegas where he performed in 1970. Elvis had a very large repertoire of songs of all genres so there is a tremendous amount to listen to. Suggestion: 1972 Hampton Roads, Virginia suggestion: a very different looking Elvis w-a slightly richer, deeper voice; the water throwing incident -- at the very, very start of the video Elvis called out “Please Release Me” but the band began playing “I Can’t Stop Loving You” - he didn’t stop them, he went right into the song, he then walked over to his glass of water, picked it up & playfully threw it at Glen @ piano -- a fun, energetic, powerhouse ua-cam.com/video/LNtP5Gd8QGE/v-deo.html; note the little irritated look on his face @ beginning. 1935 on January 8 a huge star was born, but sadly in 1977 on august 16 we lost a great musician, a amazing singer, but we also lost a amazing humanitarian that helped so many people that he did not even know.
Today over 46 years after his death, people are still calling Elvis the King of Rock'n'Roll (he said that Chubby Checker was the one that should be called King of Rock'n roll, if any human should), Elvis didn't like that title and he believed that the only King was God and he actually told this to his fans several times, he said:
I believe that God is the only true king, sometimes he added Jesus Christ.
I think that Elvis is a MASTER not only of king of Rock'n roll, he is A MASTER of many genres of music because he can sing very well in any genre, but what do you think, is he good enough to be called a music king?
Elvis was really in my mind, a MASTER of GOSPEL and other music, no one does it better then him, he is best known for making Rock'n roll famous, so he was called The King of Rock'n roll, but he never liked that people called him that, he repeatedly stopped fans who said that he was the king of rock'n roll, telling them:
I'm just an entertainer and singer, God is the only true King (sometimes he also said Jesus Christ is the only King)...
He also never liked the "so called joke" Elvis the Pelvis, he loved Jokes, but that was for him very hurtful to hear people say, or write that.
Did you know that Elvis was a Sandy Blonde with Blue Eyes...
Elvis was born in the poor part of Tupelo Mississippi (in a shotgun house) and it was mainly Afro Americans living there, at the place where Elvis family lived there only lived 3 more white families, the rest was colored people, his family was dirt poor until he became an artist after singing in a mainly colored peoples church during his childhood.
Did you know that he had several friends that where Afro Americans, one of his friends where James Brown, yes THAT James Brown (The King of Soul), another artist was B.B King, yes that B.B King...
He also was a good friend with Mohamed Ali, yes the GREATEST boxer of all time, he even had a Robe made for him, but it was to much bling on it so Ali wouldn't where it more then one time to a fight.
Elvis really admired Martin Luther King very much, Elvis felt that all people are equal, unfortunately he never got to meet him, that would have created to much problems for both of them at that time.
He had several medical problems, Glaucoma, (Insomnia) sleeping problems, irritable bowel syndrome, things that affected his real life and made him need medication to function.
Yes, he took medicines that today are considered to be called drugs, but at that time doctors prescribed it to him and to ordinary people, they did not know of the problems it could give people (side effects).
He never took any so-called street drugs, but unfortunately he did not realize that those medications would be a problem for him, he thought that they where ordinary medicine because his doctor prescribed them to him and to everyone else that needed it.
Many out of his relatives died at a relatively young age, so even if he wouldn't have the medication, he might have died at about the same age.
He could never be alone and thus himself, at that time the word superstar did not exist, so nothing could prepare him for that kind of life.
Did you know that a big group of white people actually smashed his records and wanted to ban his music, just because they called the music he did so called N... music, that is so painful to think that some people actually can think like that, skin color is just color and nothing more, when will people start to realize that?
There are some videos of when Elvis joking and messing up, he loved to joke around and pretend that he did not have control, but he had total control, he actually conducted his musicians and back up choirs all the time !
He is the only person to have 60 records gone to sell Gold since he died.
Elvis is also in almost every genre of Music Hall of Fame (5 that I'm sure of Rock 'n' Roll, Country, Gospel, Rockabilly and Rhythm and Blues), if Gospel is a genre in Music Hall of fame, then he should be in there to, but no one else is in more then perhaps 2 genres.
Not bad for someone who failed in his music class (in school, he got a F), he also never took a single singing lesson, yes he sang in church so perhaps he learned a little there, right?
Something else that people tend to overlook:
He always conducts his musicians and backup singers, he never gets credit for being able to doing that.
Imagen you are a singer, you have great Musicians, you have great backup singers, no Guest Artists, no Auto tune, no Lip singing and no Fireworks, now all is about your skill, could you handle that pressure?
At the time when Elvis started to perform, Auto tune did not exist yet and when it became available, then he still did not use it, he did not need to, he always sang so that you could hear every word that he sang, the Fans always felt that he sang to just you !
That is what Elvis did in over 1600 concerts (during his 20 years as an artist), despite having problems with his health, like his Glaucoma, the headlights must have hurt his eyes like crazy.
He sang over 800 songs, I wonder how he could remember them all, he never wrote a song himself, so he had to remember other peoples lyrics, well that is amazing in it self.
The fact that he had Glaucoma must have been difficult being in the headlights all the time, that could be why he sometimes closes his eyes, but also sometimes squinting!
This unfortunately made him temporary blind after the shows, that is why they led him of the stage and into his car, that is something that not many people knew about Elvis.
Elvis suits was made of 100% Polyester, or 100 cotton (I'm not sure witch one), it was originally a karate suit (GI), it was very light, but it was hot, so it made him sweat a lot, he got some bad press about that, but if you give it all then you will sweat, it should be positive, right?
A important fact about Elvis success is his guitarist James Burton's sound, it was a big fact that made him sound different, naturally his voice is the main factor for his success to, I think both things played a crucial role in his success...
About the deep base voiced JD Sumner (a member of The Stamps Quartet) he is a Basso Profundo, I think it's called that, it is the deepest base singer there is.
A video about him helping others, look at this: ua-cam.com/video/CrJ1c9tm-C0/v-deo.html
Elvis made a show where all the money went to build the Memorial after Pearl Harbor, he talked to the nations about taking the Polio vaccine, Elvis took the first injection himself, he helped by donating a big amount of money to St Jude hospital, they fight against cancer (especially children with), he gave away loads of jewelry, gave away cars, he even gave away some houses to total strangers.
Elvis started an organization that helps people to get out of Homelessness (Presley Charitable Foundation), this organization helps people even now close to 50 years after he passed away.
A thing that you perhaps did not know: Elvis ALMOST NEVER did a show OUTSIDE OF USA, yes he did sing a few times in Canada: 4 concerts, 2 times in Toronto, 1 time in Ottawa and 1 time in Vancouver (during the 50:s?).
When the Aloha From Hawaii (Live in Honolulu 1973) was showed it had close to 1.5 Billion viewers from around the whole world and 3.7 billion people lived on earth at this time, so it was close to 1/3 of all of the population on the earth that viewed the show, it was the first time a single artist was shown LIVE around the globe.
Video of Mohammad Ali speech after Elvis died:
    ua-cam.com/video/PO8Kq_3KTyI/v-deo.html
I have to say that I loved being at Graceland and seeing his home, first we were at the shotgun house in Tupelo Mississippi where he lived in his early years, he was born there !
You don't have a guide taking you on a tour, you can go all over yourself, but stay outside of the ropes and do not attempt to go upstairs, the outside is huge, so is the house, but you don't realize that from the front of the house.
I don't regret for a second that I was there, or that I stood at his grave site and said out loud that this is for the humanitarian Elvis/the person/the man and then I gave him a military salute, the others there just looked at me and asked if I didn't like his music.
So I told them that he was clearly one of the best singers and artists ever, but I loved his big heart more, he helped so many people without getting credit for it, he didn't want the credit of helping others, he did it out of love and respect and to me that is what true charity is all about.
This PLACE (GRACELAND) should be a protected part of music history and also American history forever, I think that people will keep coming for years and years and years to come !
Elvis did lots of things for America to, he helped in a big way to avoid getting Polio (he took the vaccine in a TV show and that made the interest for taking the vaccine to go up from 0,6 % all the way up to 80 % in 6 months), so in 6 months he got 79.4 % more of the American people take the Polio vaccine and shortly after it was eradicated from USA, he also helped in the fight to defeat Cancer by helping to build up St Jude's children cancer treatment clinic by donating a huge amount of money to them, he also helped to build the Memorial over Pearl Harbor and many other things!

Oh! Oh! Oh! I can SO relate!
    Hahaha!
Okay, so my Aunt was a fan of Elvis. I knew like 15- 20 of his songs. But I was a kid. I totally poo- pooed the guy. Elvis was before my time. He died several years before I was even born.
So I knew who Elvis was. I was introduced to Elvis when I was a baby (because of my grandmother whose favorite Christmas was "Blue Christmas" by Elvis. Every Christmas my Dad had to put on the Christmas playlist just for her.)
But I didn't grow up a fan of the guy. I didn't get it. I was a kid. Kids often poo- poo the music of their parents and grandparents. (I used get into it with my Dad over why in my opinion The Beatles were way overrated. The Beatles was his generation of his music. I did not like the Beatles. I listened to Boyz II Men. And yep I'm a lady so I totally loved Boyz II Men in my youth.)
Anyway, fast forward to the shut down of 2020. I'm feeling nostalgic.
So I start listening to The Righeous Brothers (my Dad loved them) and I fall down that rabbit hole.
Then I stumble on this interview Bill Medley gave. Someone uploaded it in parts. Cut up like. So I resolve to listen to the whole interview. Even the part labeled "Bill Medley Talks About Elvis".
And I'm listening to Bill Medley talk about Elvis. I had no idea he was friends with Elvis. And I had no idea Elvis had such a dry sense of humor!
Bill Medley made Elvis sound like a cool and funny guy honestly.
So after that I started getting this suggestion in my YT feed: Elvis "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" live 1970 Las Vegas.
So at first I was like, "Nah. I already heard it from the best." That being from The Righteous Brothers.
But then one evening I was like, "Oh, what the hell,"
Now I gotta be honest, I went into my very first Elvis experience with SUPER low expectations.
I wasn't expecting much of anything.
But within 30 seconds I kid you not my jaw was hitting the floor and my eyes were as big as saucers.
A minute in and I was just, "Wait. Wait, wait, wait. THIS is Elvis? Whhhaaa....?!?!?!?"
And by the time Elvis was doing his own little ad- lib with the lyrics, I was totally and completely charmed, "Oh my Gawd! He's funny too! Who IS THIS GUY? On my Gawd! He's so charming!"
Then by the end of the 4 minute + performance I was clapping like I was right there in the audience.
I had no idea what I just witnessed but I needed more.
    I've been hooked ever since.
So anyway... If you want to hear Elvis sing opera you HAVE TO check out:
    - "It's Now Or Never"
    - "Surrender"
    - "Suspicion"
    And I HIGHLY recommend
"How Great Thou Art" live 1972 (some will add in the live 1977 as well, but the 1972 performance is a great start into Elvis's gospel).
Elvis was kinda known for his gospel music. This I did not know until I really started getting into him.
But there is A LOT to choose from.
In Elvis's 23 year career, he covered 11 different subgenres of music.
And if I don't add this in I know someone else will call me out on it: Elvis won 3 Grammy Awards, and all of them was for his gospel music.
I hope you have fun going deeper down the Elvis rabbit hole.
I know I did! And I still am having fun because Elvis recorded almost 800 songs in total. So yeah. There are still songs out there by Elvis I have yet to listen to.
Thank you so very much for your great reaction! Great job! Bravo!
    Well done!
    Thoroughly enjoyed!
    Peace ✌, light 🌞, love 💖, & blessings 🙏 to you & yours & to one & all here as well 💕

Isn’t it amazing , the Elvis Effect?! I heard his voice on the radio when I was 3 and loved it. 63 years later still love it. Children knew he was a kind person. Those he acted with in his films always said how he helped them and what fun he was. I love seeing and hearing of the younger generation opening their ears and minds to Elvis because it validates his abilities and his beautiful character. Your sharing of your knowledge of Elvis is so inspiring and I love reading your comments. 🙏👌💕👌

I have a request from Elvis. Powerhouse of a voice, he sings “ Tomorrow Never Comes” He doesn’t sing it live but is well worth the listen. It’s on the TTWII album. That’s the way it is. It builds and builds until the ending is so powerful and of course with him passionately sung. This was the year of his divorce. A very emotional for him. He didn’t get to see his daughter as often and it affected him and his music became sad that yr. As you know, his daughter shockingly passed away this yr. 🥲🥲

Willie Nelson wrote this song but he sang it slower melody but then Elvis sings in high voice and faster melody. To me Elvis Presley has a powerful voice than Michael Jackson.
