Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Thanks again Nate, I do enjoy your vids and your humor. I'm 69 1/2 yrs old and have finally crossed "become a master baiter painter" off my bucket list. Have a good day
"Confidence - Level zero." Lol. I'm glad you posted this video anyway because this is my favorite kind of video. Its refreshing to watch someone who doesn't take himself too seriously.
"I'm gonna make a tutorial for you guys!" - Trashes our airbrushes - Tries to fry our eyes with a UV light - Tells us to quit and that we have a problem - Spends 2 minutes setting up lights (perhaps a combined light setup tutorial?) - Deletes half the tutorial "I think this video is still worth posting." - Tries to satiate us with bonus fishing Never change 😂😂😂
I love how casual you are. Its not you pretending that you know everything or that everything you do is perfect. You just enjoy teaching and creating! Love the vids! Keep being you! :D
Wow! Now that I know everything about painting a bait,I have the confidence to kick my bad habits and become a genuine saint and be a credit to humanity. Thank you Marling Baits.
Hi Nate. I really love your cranky humor it cheers up my day. And Believe it or not i have learn't a lot from your vids. Hope Chelsea and the babe are good. All the best.
I quite enjoy your videos and always look forward to you new videos. I love how you use the randomness of your commentary on the videos I find it hilarious. Keep up the amazing work
I really like watching your progression as a bait maker. It's nice watching the struggles and the successes you have and the way the videos have turned into what they are now is great. Its awesome watching you craft a bait in a few hours to days then go out and catch some fish. Great work my dude I really enjoy your videos.
I will probably never paint a lower or make one but I always enjoy your videos the random stuff that comes out of your mouth is so entertaining thank you again for another entertaining video I appreciate it we all have frustrating days and it's great to see you just blurting it all out
Imma watch this shortly, but I just have to comment on that pinky! 🤣🤣🤣 I freakin' love it! Keep doing what you do, I watch everything and it's all great.
Dude that was awesome... at the very least it saves me having to re-learn it all from scratch. I was obsessive over my model cars and planes as a kid, but it’s been 35 years. 😂
The whole stare at the light and don't stare at the light and then the moment near the end where the cam gets lost in light had me rolling... Love these vids man awesome work even though I know this is real old lol
Daaaaang, I never go above 10psi, and get less than 1mm lines, but I use lacquer paints so there is a big media variance. I do scale models and need the finest lines, but for lures I can see your methods being very good for your uses. Neat to see how you do it. Useful info.
Beautiful lure as always! Also, I love your sense of humor! Winter isn't fun here for fishing either. At least I can watch your videos about you making lures. I wouldn't even attempt to make a lure. It might come out looking like a broken stick with a hook on the end.
Best teacher ever. On a serious note, be a little wary under the LED lights for a bit while cutting. It throws less shadow, so it can be a little disorienting for a minute. P.S. I will never look at the whopper plopper box the same LOL!!
Wopper Plopper is the best new bait design in ages. Been following Larry Dahlberg for many years and got the first plopper from River2Sea. Love the new shop lights, the vid looks great. Thanks Nate
Marking you're absolutely inspiring! I ordered some knives for whittling wood so I can practice making lure shapes! I want to have a setup like yours one day and be able to envision a bait in my head and make it happen! Thank you so much for the amazing content that keeps me going!
Thank you so much for this video. I've been wanting to get into making my own baits and knowing what you use to make your amazing baits gets me started in the right direction. I would love to see a video outlining your favorite wood working tools and techniques.
Your videos n how you sprayed lures helped me at my former job as a cake maker. White based cakes, its all making layers and patterns like youself. You can be amazing at icing or edging a cake but if u cant make a rainbow on a blue sky or blend a sunset ur done. You can carve and sand a lure, but if the paints bad its bad. Like a cake lol
Chester Cheetah: "It ain't ez bein' cheezy" Marling Baits: "It's real easy to be cheezy" 12:07 Who do I believe?! My whole life I thought it wasn't easy but I'm questioning everything now!
Good choice, I've been an airbrush artist since 1985. I've been trying out manyand given products to test and what not. I've never thinned out my paints. Is all about the layers.
I just realized that today too!! Maybe if loops were a little closer to the length of the hooks it would be easier to notice. They just look like standard trebles. But I'm probably the one with the problem.
I always like the look of your finished paint jobs but then I'm reminded of that one bait you built that was just a small rectangular piece of wood with a couple of treble hooks hanging off of it that caught just as many fish as any of your painted lures ever have. I've come to the conclusion that under the right circumstances fish will strike at anything that even faintly resembles a prey specie on a give fish's diet list. The elaborate paint schemes, although awesome looking in many cases, are applied just as much to catch the attention of fishermen as they are to catch fish. The nicer the paint job the better the marketability of the lure.
Thank's for the tips Marling. This video helps a lot more than you think because I just got an airbrush for Christmas and I'm still a noob with it. I got the cheapest airbrush I can find and it happens to be a makeup brush but it still is better than a normal brush. I also can't tell if you made this because of my comment a couple weeks ago because I said I just got one for Christmas and I could tell you were kinda stressed out of all the problems you were having because of your phone, lights, and camera so thank you for going through the effort of making this video.
@ 16:16 you mention a sucker swimbait would be good. YES it would! People (at least here in New Hampshire) use "tip up suckers" (smaller suckers) for Bass while fishing through the ice. I bet a sucker swimbait would be very appropriate.
Very funny, got a giggle or two out of this video, keep it up and cheers from down under where we are currently having temperatures in the mid thirties ( that’s Celsius not that old fashioned imperial stuff)
I am waiting for the wooden baitcaster video, to go with the spinning reel. Winter is a long time not to be able to fish,comfortably.. Thanks for the advice. God Bless you and your family
“If you don’t have this one then yours sucks “. 😂 the animation was perfect.
You can tell Marling is experimenting with his editing, working to improve his channel. Big thumbs up

“Just reflecting for a while on how much winter sucks.”
I feel that, big time.
It's always a good day when I get a Marling baits notification
I agree
Agreed
100% agree
Darn skippy
Sorry, but I have to say it, “It’s O-Fish-al” I totally agree!

My son just loves your videos. We watching it right now.
Thank you for the amazing videos.
I love your clear coat method. Very inspiring, makes me want to buy UV stuff.

@Gideon Zayn I watch on FlixZone. You can find it on google =)
@Roland Ryder Yup, I've been watching on instaflixxer for months myself :)
I totally enjoy watching you make lures. It's amazing what you can do with a block of wood and some imagination.
I love how casual you are. Its not you pretending that you know everything or that everything you do is perfect. You just enjoy teaching and creating! Love the vids! Keep being you! :D

6:52 *chuckles* “I’ve been very mean in this video”
When he proudly smiled off in the distance it killed me dude
@marlingbaits I love how you put all these suttle hints to your up and coming baits. Thank you for the painting tips
I love your wood bait making, I'm always watching them.
Hi Nate. I really love your cranky humor it cheers up my day. And Believe it or not i have learn't a lot from your vids. Hope Chelsea and the babe are good. All the best.
I started making my own baits because of you man! Thanks for inspiring me ✌🏻
I quite enjoy your videos and always look forward to you new videos. I love how you use the randomness of your commentary on the videos I find it hilarious. Keep up the amazing work

Not to often you find a video that’s just as entertaining as it is informative
Possibly the best instructional video I’ve ever watched
I will probably never paint a lower or make one but I always enjoy your videos the random stuff that comes out of your mouth is so entertaining thank you again for another entertaining video I appreciate it we all have frustrating days and it's great to see you just blurting it all out
This video was the missing piece in my life...
Thank you marling for making my life happier this is exactly what I needed !
You're the Bob Ross of lure making And because of you I made my first popper today It's not perfect but it works fantastic.
I always enjoy watching your videos. They inspired me to start making my own baits. I've only made a few, but I've already learned so much.
Imma watch this shortly, but I just have to comment on that pinky! 🤣🤣🤣 I freakin' love it! Keep doing what you do, I watch everything and it's all great.
Those lights definitely brightened up the shop!
so, it's been 2 weeks again... we're kind of waiting for a fresh one. love the videos!

My Sunday just got better!
Love watching your videos, actually making my own glide baits while watching
The videos marlin makes when it’s to cold to fish!!!! Love it!!! Thanks man keep it up
Dude that was awesome... at the very least it saves me having to re-learn it all from scratch. I was obsessive over my model cars and planes as a kid, but it’s been 35 years. 😂
Yay! now I can paint just as awsome as you do!
Staring into the uv lights really sped up the process!!! Thank you 😊💓☺️💗
Dude I want to see you make a waterdog as a lure! Catfish down here in NC LOOOOVE Mudpuppies!! I’d totally buy one!
You make it look so easy! You've got skills man!
Never air brushed anything before. Now I want to try it. Just for fun. Thanks for the right airbrush, paint, psi and technique!
The whole stare at the light and don't stare at the light and then the moment near the end where the cam gets lost in light had me rolling... Love these vids man awesome work even though I know this is real old lol
Good stuff and well-timed. I've been looking at adding an airbrush for painting cork, balsa, and craft foam flies.
your videos are so great, whether you catch a fish or not your videos always make me smile keep going👍
Ahhh sunset on the cedar... Love watching your videos. We fish the same spots.... Mostly.
Daaaaang, I never go above 10psi, and get less than 1mm lines, but I use lacquer paints so there is a big media variance. I do scale models and need the finest lines, but for lures I can see your methods being very good for your uses. Neat to see how you do it. Useful info.

Thank you mr marlin baits this is the video I needed.
A most enjoyable endeavour! please proceed onto the next piscatorial Adventure!

Thanks Nate
I love the attitude in this video, those little edits. You are the one with a problem, hahahaha I’m literally crying of laughter
Marking you're absolutely inspiring! I ordered some knives for whittling wood so I can practice making lure shapes! I want to have a setup like yours one day and be able to envision a bait in my head and make it happen! Thank you so much for the amazing content that keeps me going!
Watching some of your older videos and my 3 year old said “that’s the guy I like”. Thanks for making great content and keeping it clean
You're the Bob Ross of lure making
this video has an absolutely chaotic energy and i love it
Thank you so much for this video. I've been wanting to get into making my own baits and knowing what you use to make your amazing baits gets me started in the right direction. I would love to see a video outlining your favorite wood working tools and techniques.
I did have one question if you would answer it. Is there any special technique or chemicals used in airbrushing soft baits like swinbaits
I’m so glad u posted this. I was looking forward to a new marling baits video since the last one. 👌🏻👍🏻
The black back really makes it...nicely done buddy
Your videos n how you sprayed lures helped me at my former job as a cake maker. White based cakes, its all making layers and patterns like youself. You have such an amazing talent and great humor. Thanks for entertaining and I hope some day I can make a fish lure that is 1/10th as good as yours!
Good choice, I've been an airbrush artist since 1985. I've been trying out manyand given products to test and what not. I've never thinned out my paints. Is all about the layers.
Great video, I've been making lures for a long time now and this really helped thanks
Just realized the two hooks in the intro make a m and b. 7 months of just thinking “okay hooks are cool”
I just realized that today too!! Maybe if loops were a little closer to the length of the hooks it would be easier to notice. They just look like standard trebles. But I'm probably the one with the problem.
same here!! I've been watching him for probably a year now and I just realized that's what it meant like a week ago😅
Connor Young now i can unsee it😅
mind blown, I always wondered why these treble hooks were missing one
Just saw it a few weeks ago. After hours and hours of video. One day it just popped out at me. Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one!
I always like the look of your finished paint jobs but then I'm reminded of that one bait you built that was just a small rectangular piece of wood with a couple of treble hooks hanging off of it that caught just as many fish as any of your painted lures ever have. I've been watching for a while now. It's great to see how your channel has taken off
