I just got an airbrush myself and used this as a guide for my first airbrushed lure. Pretty pleased with the results, and looks visually striking! Only thing I did slightly different was initially brushing the black on the back of the fish, decided later to take an old toothbrush that I found and give it some speckles.
Thanks man ! I just detailed a local bass pros truck and he hooked me up with over 300 lures some rusted some brand new ! I have like 100$ I want to paint and am going to start cause of you! 💯
l'm wanting to start painting cranks for walleye, and have learned to airbrush using a Paache single action airbrush, and am comfortable with using it. I'm thinking that it will work ok to learn, then maybe move on to something else. What's your thoughts. thanks. Love your vids.
*Fun little bait great for ponds. This thing casts really well for its size, I was surprised. Good for when you need to downsize and gets smaller fish to commit*
Hey Zach, thanks for the videos. I've learned alot from watching them. I bought some hard baits that look like Pop R's or Chug Bugs but I noticed they don't have an inset for the eyes. Instead, they are raised up so you can use the eyes that I normally use. Is there another type of eye that works on these, or do you just paint them. Please reply soon because this is my favorite lure.
Got my first airbrush kit yesterday cant wait to paint my first lure your vid is great What clear coat do you use do you brush it on or dip ? What is better or spray on ?
ANY HELP? Hello, I'm making spoons the same way. Can you gime me an advice: How to put rings with hooks without scratching final coating and paint? I use special pliers to split rings, but the paint and final coating still rubs off. What to do? What to do...
I’m looking for advice, I’m looking for a airbrush kit suitable for painting fishing lures, there’s so much on the market that I was hoping for advice from someone with experience, thanks 🙏
Got a question for you. Just getting into airbrushing lures. I’ve decided to start using this pattern. However, I have a question about colors. Wanted to use fluorescent colors. Was thinking about using fluorescent pink, white, for main colors, with black for the specks. The other would use either fluorescent green, yellow, or magenta. Would those colors also be effective for lures? Thanks in advance!! BTW, your videos are AWESOME !!
Troi Bandy I think anything is worth a try. Also bright colors are great for dirty water. Putting some different colors out there that the fish haven’t seen could produce some action. Won’t know till you try! And thank you! Means a lot 🙏
Most of my paints are water based so I don’t have an issue with that. However a lot of people do set up a spray booth that has ventilation. Not a good answer haha but I have not had any issues
Are there any companies that make bill stickers? Bill stickers are basically tape that has been pre-cut to the shape of the top of the bill, bottom and edges of the bill based on the nose design of the lure. Would be very nice to have to make professional looking lures.
By the time you get the bodies the eyes the hooks the paint the tools I could of bought a complete lure from strike king for 5$ I guess getting started is the money part but is it worth it after having some buyers???
I enjoy doing it more then making the money. So it kinda depends on the scale that you are going after. For me the hobby is supporting itself and thats all I need haha
My paints are kinda old. So they are thick. I can't just shoot them straight out of the bottle with iwata eclipse. Maybe i should thin the whole bottles down some and shake the snot out of them. But it looks like in the videos i watch no one is even mixing there paints to thin them. Also like.of i use white it sticks inside of my gun. I gotta flush the heck out of it
This video is awesome and informative, nice job except for the loud thumping music at the end that blew my eardrum's. I'll be ready to pop my earbuds out next time.

I'm just now getting into this. Your videos are enormously helpful!
Thanks for the comment!! 🤙
Thank you. Just started doing poppers and this is invaluable
Just found your channel. I appreciate your time posting these. As a beginner I can use all the help I can get. 🙂
I have a question for you have you ever airbrush fishing lures but only using Apple barrel paint through airbrush
I feel like you down played your channel here, doing a great job!
Do you use a reducer in the paint?
Do you ever use primer or is it not necessary?
Amazing Channel, because off you I am in airbrushing. Hello from Nicaragua
Glad to hear! And thank you!
Hey buddy what paint is good for just touching up chipped paint on say jig heads.
Thank you for the video! I am getting ready to start experimenting with lure painting myself, and I definitely built my confidence up!

The raised bumps on the blanks usually get painted. I believe there are sticker eyes also but not sure how well those would stick. Hope that helps!
Nice.. what do you use to topcoat the lures? Thanks
I use Alumi-UV. I have a video on my setup for it 🤙
This is something I always wanted to get into, thank you for the video it shows me understand how it is done and what to use. Thank you.
What mic are you using in the video?
Where do you buy the lures you paint
Love the video! What is the vice/clamp that you are using?
They are called helping hands! Barlow’s Tackle, harbor freight, and Amazon have them 👍
Is the cleaner just plain water? Or a thinner? Or a windex glass cleaner? Thanks
Can you tell me where you got your 2.5 square bow
Great video! Thanks for showing us how to do this.
Got my first airbrush kit yesterday cant wait to paint my first lure your vid is great
What clear coat do you use do you brush it on or dip ? What is better or spray on ?
Great tutorial! You make it look so easy.
Awesome channel man question where did you get your stencil that has all the different patterns on it from small to big??
Blue is my favorite color because it goes with everything
Thanks Zack for your nice vid!
Good to see you back! :)
What is that stand?

If I may ask I'm looking get in to lure painting and was wondering where you get your stands for the lures at?
I get mine from Harbor Freight. I believe Amazon has them as well. They are called helping hands
Princess auto $8
Hi Zach! Cool design! What type of top coat do you use?
I use Alumi-UV 🤙
Woow very good job👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼, excellent 📹, I'm new to your channel, greetings bro 🤟🏼
Can i use toothbrush for speckles?
For sure! I have used on before. Stiffer bristles is better 👍
These are beautiful thank you Baker!
Hola que sellador me recomendás para que dure más la pintura en el lure? Gracias
Question where do u gt your blanks
Awesome video, I’ll definitely show it to my kid.
What do you do with the hooks and the swivel things that hold them on?
I’m looking for advice, I’m looking for a airbrush kit suitable for painting fishing lures, there’s so much on the market that I was hoping for advice from someone with experience, thanks 🙏
I like the Blue on Black look. To set the lure off, I would have painted the fins a yellow base, then more green with red accents.
Any suggestions for bandit 100-300 style blanks?
Craw pattern might be cool!
Are you able to use regular acrylic paint??
Sure can. If your going to use it in the airbrush then it needs to be thinned down 👍
This has really got my interest up. I noticed a name on the belly. How was you able to do that?
Hey Garrett! Check out my video on how I do that How To Put A Logo On Your Fishing Lure + Craw Pattern

Do you thin your createx paints other than the metallics? Or you shoot straigt out of the bottle?
On some paints I do thin with a little water. But most I don’t. What PSI are you spraying at?
@@BakerBuilds 25psi
@@fishingwithhoffman7365 Try bumping up the air pressure and see if that helps!
So kind of a dumb question but what size hooks do you use
Changes from bait to bait but on ones this size I usually use size 4 👍
What would you use to protect the lure eyes if the blanks came with eyes already on them?
What kind of paint are you using?
Most of my paints are the Createx airbrush paint!

How do you seal the paint in
I am inspired to do this. Thanks for the video
This inspired me into a new hobby. Do I have to have crazy ventilation. Is this doable outside? I know stupid question
Most of my paints are water based so I don’t have an issue with that. However a lot of people do set up a spray booth that has ventilation. Not a good answer haha but I have not had any issues
You can put a filter on a box fan in front of you if you are worried about it.
Zach what clear coat do you use? That was a GREAT video!!!!!!!
I use Alumi-UV for the clear coat. I got a video showing how I use it 👍
@@BakerBuilds Thanks
Great video, nice job
Thank you!
Is the lure holder homemade or can you get them in the store
They are called Helping hands! Check Harbor freight and amazon 👌
Hobby lobby has them also
I don’t use thinner but I buy airbrush paint and I also just use water to clean it and I haven’t had a problem yet
Where do you get the crank baits from?
Check out Barlow’s Tackle 😎
Que es esa tela que le pone para hacer las "escamas"
Great job and thanks
What do you use to clear coat?
I use Alumi-UV. Check out my video on how I use it 👍 ua-cam.com/video/9x-cuQEsE8c/v-deo.html
How much time does it take to do a full build from raw materials to finished?
Depends on the bait I guess. And the tools you have haha
@@BakerBuilds I mean for you 😁
What are your favorite (Affordable) blanks?
Check out Barlow's Tackle! Great blanks and great people

Hi Zach I love your vids
Thank You!
Hmmm....
Me: in my shop half a day to produce a hot MESS
Zach: 12 minutes, perfect lure, AND time to spare for a brush cleaning tutorial.
😳
Tim it helps when I speed up the boring parts and cut out all the spots I forgot what to say haha
you should make a lure and stick some sequins on it to make a scale pattern.
Hi zach
I made lure too
You got a goood talented
Thank you!
Excelente video. Un saludo desde Medellín, Colombia.
Do you sell these?
By the time you get the bodies the eyes the hooks the paint the tools I could of bought a complete lure from strike king for 5$ I guess getting started is the money part but is it worth it after having some buyers???

I get mine from Harbor Freight, they are called helping hands 👍

You know what you need to clean the paint out of the air brush bowl? A cleanable foam insert the same size of the air brush bowl on a stick.
