    Thanks. Great video. I had the exact issue with the top pulling away from the tree and you addressed what I was doing wrong. Another thing that you mentioned was the platform angle. Being a climbing stand hunter for many years that angle is exactly the opposite that one wants with a climbing stand. Thanks again. I may actually get to use this thing before the rut is over!

    Dude, just the video I needed. I had been practicing with my saddle all summer (first year saddle hunting). Didn't have issues this summer, but today the top was pulling away from the tree and I couldn't figure out why. So I climb on and it let go. Glad I had my tether locked in. Looking forward to that thing feeling so much more secure!

    Awesome video man thanks for posting. I ordered my predator platform on the 21st hoping I'd ve able to get it for the end of the season. Fingers 🤞

    Good video. Y'all forgot to mention the Toe Cam method for when you're still having problems with the top stem seating correctly.
    Great haircut btw.

      lol glad you enjoyed it. I left that out on purpose because I feel like this video was created for folks getting into saddle hunting and I imagine that would be a bit daunting to do when you're already learning to trust a saddle. It does work well though!

    I appreciate your review. I received my predator earlier this week. It came with two top mounting brackets. Which one should I use?

    I will have to try this non level idea with my predator platform. I usually hunt with it level, this has been my first season in a saddle and i killed 4 deer out of it. I like it a lot, but my calves usually end up hurting pretty bad from being over extended i guess, after a few hours.

      That level of fatigue was the same for me until I started adjusting the level of the platform! Let me know what you think

      @@ChasingTalesOutdoors I just got a Predator platform, a saddle and sticks. I have only been in them twice and both times my feet bothered me. I will have to try adjusting the platform like you said. I think that will definitely help, thanks for the video. New to saddle hunting so there is a lot for me to learn.

    Where did you get that aftermarket tree bracket from? The cast aluminum bracket that comes with the platform sucks at life.

    • @ChasingTalesOutdoors
      @ChasingTalesOutdoors  2 роки тому

      It’s a custom prototype. What issues are you having with the cast bracket?

    What top bracket are you running?

    • @ChasingTalesOutdoors
      @ChasingTalesOutdoors  4 роки тому

      It's an old prototype but the equivalent to it is the black alternate that comes in all the new predator orders, or can be ordered on their website.

    • @Jase-E
      @Jase-E 4 роки тому

      Had the same thought. They should go back to that top bracket.

    1. Problem is that you are tightening it by pushing with your feet on the ground. DRT and SRT climbers are suspended from a rope, so we have a more difficult time. 2. You and the other tethered folks always talk about crooked trees, but all your examples are on straight trees.
    Aside from that, good tips. I thank you for the video.

      Hey bud. Thanks for the comment. I’ll put together another video that may address your concerns but I’ll add two bits here.
      1. If you go back and watch my video you’ll notice I put very little weight on the platform to push it down. You are not trying to horse it at all and I am confident that if I hung from a tether I’d be able to replicate what I did in this video.
      2. I have in the past realized that my predator wasn’t right and while hung from a tether toe cammed the predator into place.
      3. You’re right. I didn’t do it on a crooked tree but the steps remain the same largely because I’m going to setup on the negative or positive side of that tree. Camming would look similar to this process.
      I’ll put together a video while hanging from my saddle and one on crooked tree’s soon.

    Does it come with the camo strap

  • @340wbymag
    @340wbymag 3 роки тому +1

    It is indeed awesome, but it should come with a longer strap for bigger trees.

    • @ChasingTalesOutdoors
      @ChasingTalesOutdoors  3 роки тому +1

      I could see that, but I would think any larger of a tree than it can handle may be too big for me.

      I know the design made it to the carbon platform. It was an idea that I pitched in 2019 when we were at a show in Alabama.

    Good tips buddy. Ppl usually don’t understand that it’s not just a birth hitch it needs to be folded before tightening and then the dogs bite into the tree. I climbed with a tree tether used as a flip line and a light sinching tree step and I’d use the sit stand method. But now that I own a landscaping tree work business I just use SRT and climb with my climbing gear with nothing else but a step. But I’m considering getting this step. Thinking of posting some content on my channel. Channels so new. Check out some content of mine my friend. Again. Thanks for sharing. I’ll continue supporting your stuff. Do you have email? I disagree with not having it level, yes it IS more comfortable, but you cannot stand up on it without falling off. If u like to stand facing away from tree, make sure it's level

    • @ChasingTalesOutdoors
      @ChasingTalesOutdoors  3 роки тому +1

      Great point. If you want to stand on the platform you have to keep it level. Personally, I don’t do that so it isn’t a concern.
